While we await StRuPiE's excellent upcoming edit, I have made a few improvements to my version of "An Ocean of Memories". I was able to add the sparkly chimes when Rose pulls the diamond out of her pocket on the dock in New York. Luckily there were portions of the Bluray where the chimes were free of SFX while Rose is laying on the raft after the sinking, so I was able to extract sections of the chimes from there and combine them together to match what you hear near the end of the movie (scattered chimes followed by a louder "burst" as she pulls out the diamond).

In addition to the chimes, I changed the mix of "Distant Memories" where it is overlaid on top of "A Life So Changed" as old Rose climbs up on the railing and opens her hand to reveal the diamond. In the film it seems the bells/chimes from "Distant Memories" are a bit more prominent, so I dialled down the other synth effects in "Distant Memories" to achieve this.

These are both just minor changes but if you are interested in the updates please send a PM. :)

I have read thru most of the posts here, and I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the fact that the only person who had a complete original copy of this soundtrack, was booted off this board by the mods, once he made it known that he had it. He posted one track, to prove that he did indeed have it, and then people started ripping him apart, and shortly thereafter, he was banned "For no reason given". We all could have had the original recordings, from a man who works in the business, but people here decided to kick him off, and just at the wrong time. Seems very suspicious to me.

*Huge* thanks to StRuPiE. I'm still digesting his Ultimate Edition, but one of my first reactions was that, Finally, I'm hearing the music from the film as it is *heard* in the film. That's not to say that all of his recreated Cameron edits are superior to Horner's original intentions or soundtrack presentations, but they definitely strike a chord in me, given that this is the way my brain first absorbed the score. It's always special to have the score that matches the film presentation, and for that I am very grateful. Excellent work.

I have that clip too, but I'm pretty damn sure it's not from the recording sessions. I don't remember if I got it from this thread, got it a long time ago. It's not even Horner that does the countdown. It looks like the voice is coming from one of the performers (can notice an Irish accent, not British). I think this is just a demo reel that was leaked. I think you're definitely drawing the wrong conclusions. I don't say the RS aren't out there, but I believe it's hidden in a vault somewhere rather than sitting on someone's computer.

Hmm. I couldnt find the little upbeat piano section from when Rose goes to find Jack after they meet. Its cute but not essential. I do really like the Never an Absolution extended. The album is AB whereas the extended is AABB of the cue. I did an edit but Im not too happy with it. I think i did an ok job with the other deleted scenes music.

Titanic was produced+distributed by 20th Century Fox and, guess what, nothing that company has to do with can be shared around here (Thread 49829).

Strupie was banned presumably because he was sharing Fox material (i.e., Titanic music) and thought he was being clever by not openly posting a link. As for "cleaning the place up", I don't think this place has active admins anymore, and the only active mod (LSK) doesn't have the access to do anything about it himself.

I personally requested that other version of The Kiss. I wanted the film-accurate edit, which would include Leo DiCaprio's vocals because he sings Come, Josephine, In My Flying Machine as he and Rose are "flying" on the bow.

Therefore, I also requested he include Kate Winslet's vocals when Rose sings it as she's floating on the door after the sinking.

Not sure. The Prologue with Brock kinda bothered me but I don’t mind the Epilogue with old Rose.

An interesting thing that caught my attention: in the documentary Titanic: Breaking New Ground (which is super cool) there is a segment where they are showing the ship breaking apart from the film. Its for the doc, so the music editing is very different from the film, but they cut the music for the stern crashing back into the sea (36:00) which was so cool to see. I actually really liked the section sans music and just sfx. Would have been kinda neat if Cameron did that for the film too. Check it out. :)

the problem is that now that people have a "complete" ost, ALL OF A SUDDEN "fox" "discovered" this site and now the ost cant be shared, despite several people already owning it but lack the balls to share privately.
so now the thread will devolve into that.
and this is coming from someone who doesnt care about a complete ost. im quite happy with the official cds (except all the sfx in the irish dance, but whatever, ive grown to mentally erase the sfx)

Most everybody did. Haha. Even I bought a copy. That was the most unexpected release in quite some time. Never thought we’d see it then poof there it is. Extraordinary.

Too bad there’s no more Kamen or Goldenthal on their release slate as far as I know. I’d love to see if they could get the missing material from the Interview with the Vampire sessions and make this old bootleg worth retiring. It’s great to finally have but such a disappointment that many cues are missing. An official album for Kamen’s Frequency would be amazing too. That massive Buxton Fire cue gives me a wide range of feels.

The one track (other than the end credits piece) that I have on my iPod playlist is the film version of An Ocean of Memories (otherwise known as The Dream or The Heart of the Ocean), as it is the only effective edit other than the wreck scenes that was in the film...

It's not added reverb. The issue with the two cues (and I know it's only two cues because I know exactly the issue you're referring to) is that the lead vocal by Sissel is dialed down in the center too much, so all you hear are the left and right channels and barely anything of the center vocal.

It's the 'Logo / Main Title' and the 'alternate' version of Rose.

I wish that the opening part of "Trapped on E Deck" was a bit louder. That's the cue that plays when the first rocket is launches and there's a wide shot of the flares streaming down towards Titanic's sinking bow followed by a pan alongside the portholes to where Jack is held by the master at arms. Love the cue, just hate having to turn it WAY up to hear it as well. Still one happy camper to having this release. Almost a year since it was released and I still listen to it almost daily! <3

That's just as loud as it was, no changes. The dynamic range is great in that respect. For mine, I did make that opening just a little louder. I also fixed the two cues I referred to above.

I just turn it all the way up and then back down when the crazy piano kicks in. For some reason I love that little bass. Enough to blare it lol

The more I listen to the La La Land release combined with the film versions of Alexander's Ragtime Band (from Back to Titanic), An Ocean of Memories, My Heart Will Go On, and the End Credits in (mostly) chronological order, as I do on my iTunes playlist from time to time, the more I want to see the cut of Titanic that Horner composed his music to. There's a lot of interesting musical moments cut from the final film, such as the section of Death of Titanic that plays between what is the fade from Molly Brown's "God almighty" line in the film and the ship breaking in two... there are some storyboards on the Blu-Ray of the ship splitting viewed from the inside that I think indicate where that unused music would have been placed.

I just want to point out that earlier in this forum, someone had to play know it all and say there wasn't a version of "death of titanic" without the synth voices or whatever. I told them that listening to the blu ray that there clearly seemed to be instruments only that wasn't drowned out by the synth voices, they still believed there wasn't. The alternate on the 20th LLL definitely shows a non synth version, which was definitely used in the film. I can rest now. :)
