Really one sided battle here, but this time, despite all the recent reaper victories, this time it's the reaper who gets reaped by the Lich. I guess a reprieve from having to hunt Etems isn't exactly a big deal! But yeah, Lich is the last to join the top 8, concluding this round!

Out of the many reapers that were made into rare game and used in this rumble, this is the last one left standing... and it's got a huge following as well, considering what you can supposedly do with it early in the game. Most of you probably know how to spawn it and I don't need to explain anymore. But I think from the start we knew it'd at least make the quarterfinals.

Let's not forget Main Gauche, with EVA 34 it does shield's job better than most shields in the game.

Sure, Zak -- just list any others you feel aren't obvious and I'll be happy to explain them. As for the Blood Sword- I just really liked using it and inflicting Sap on the enemy.

Alright, just the deathbringer, whale whisker, and demon shield... some I kind of have an idea but never used them so not entirely sure.

Ah, well, the Deathbringer's easy. It has a 10% chance of killing any target each time it strikes-- definitely a pretty cool weapon to have. The Demon Shield has 40% evasion, but more than that, it absorbs all dark damage. As for the Whale Whisker, I mainly just included because it's the strongest type of pole, so if you like using that type of weapon, it's the one for you.

Okay. Scezepan I said the nominations were closed, but I'll let it in since Main Gauche was mentioned. Alright from here, no more. I'll count soon and let you know what's happening.

There are a lot of "most powerful" weapons of certain classes not included, like Grand Mace and Volcano. But I never saw any special use of them.

EDIT ONCE AGAIN: Alright, I know I keep adding more, but Sagittarius I noticed is not on the list... perhaps being the most powerful bow (long range) is good? No?

Well, I'll leave it up to Hawkeye or Wolf or whoever to choose four of the ones I mentioned. Well, it's up to Hawkeye of course, but just interested in wolfmaster's opinion of which four of the ones I mentioned would be best.

I like the Staff of the Magi and the Rod of Faith. One I also thought about was the Firefly accessory. It makes all experience earned become zero and is a must for a 122333 playthrough. The Sagittarius is the strongest bow, but also the Burning Bow can be obtained extremely early, and when combined with Fiery Arrows, deals insane ranged damage. The four in bold would be my choices.

Edit: Then again, there is the extremely sexy Ultima Blade. The 4th strongest great sword behind Excalibur, Tournesol, and the Wyrmhero Blade. Plus, you can get two of them, the one from the bazaar being very early.

Oh dammit, forgot about the Firefly.

The format for how I'll try the first round will go as thus: Fights will be matched from the top of the list and the bottom of the list. There will be three fights per rumble; one for weapons, armour, and accessories. Similar to Agent's system in general Final Fantasy where rounds were doubled up and you voted for two options. I'll probably end the rumble after three days or so, pending on how many people vote.

Starting things off

Weapons:
Mythril Sword vs. Burning Bow
Mythril Sword:

Vaan's initial weapon, 13 attack power. If you sell it, the only other way to obtain it is through a rare drop by Omega Mark XIII (good luck with that).
Burning Bow:

If you buy this during the storyline it's just a normal bow. But if you go farming in the Westersand early on, you get it as a rare drop from Dive Talons.

Armor:
Demon Shield vs. Magepower Shishak
Demon Shield:

+40 Evade and absorption of Dark-elemental attacks. It costs 11,200 gil to buy (pricey) from the Baknamy merchant in the Necrohol of Nabudis, but I've always found it elsewhere either in drops or chests.
Magepower Shishak: Again sold by the Baknamy Merchant, it is the second strongest helmet in the game and the only helmet to increase magic power.

Accessories:
Rose Corsage vs. Genji Armlet
Rose Corsage: Wearer becomes immune to silence.
Genji Gloves: Improves chance of combo attacks (great with katanas). Only gained from Gilgamesh during first encounter.

I went for the early Burning Bow off of the Dive Talons and had a lot of fun with it in my last playthrough, so it gets my vote here. The Demon Shields made me a lot of money while I was killing the Abysteels in the Henne Mines to top off my levels. I went with the Rose Corsage because I really disliked the Genji Gloves. Also, it's great to be back on this board doing stuff.

What I wonder is how the Genji Gloves affect the RNG trick... but yeah sorry.

Sage's Ring vs. Hermes Sandals
Sage's Ring: 1/2 mp cost and absorb holy attacks. Hefty price tag of 22,000 gil, but can be stolen from the trophy rare game Arioch.
Hermes Sandals: Wearer equipped with auto-haste. Handy, but they also come at a high price (18,000 gil at the bazaar and 20,000 new).

Grand Armor: Strongest heavy armor; drop from rare game from Helvinek.
Ensanguined Shield: Gives the player 90 evasion, but inflicted with Sap, Poison, and Slow. FFWiki says you find it places, but I honestly cannot remember where I found mine (I think maybe every time I tried to fight the Behemoth King I found a chest with it, or maybe it's given to you at some point?).

Accessories
Nihopalaoa vs. Orrachea Amulet

Nihopalaoa: Reverse the effect of curative items. Very handy early on in boss/mark fights with remedies. Obtainable in Bazaar only (Muthru and normal Bazaars).
Orrachea Armlet: +25 HP to wearer. First accessory given to Vaan by Tomaj (and no the tutorial is not skippable...)

The Deathbringer was an easy choice. It is a pain in the butt to obtain, but if you get it early, you can basically walk through the rest of the game with ease. The others were a little tougher, but I never really used the Nihopalaoa, and the Ensanguined Shield is just fun.

Golden Amulet: Doubles LP earned. Works on reserve party members. Available in Rabanastre and Mt. Bur-Omnisace...
Ribbon: Notable recurring accessory, immunity to all negative status effects. Drops from Vishno/Lv.99 Red Chocobo; treasure in Henne Mines/Cerobi Steppe/Pharos at Ridorana.

Tournesol, Maximillian and Golden Amulet. Note on the last one - Ribbon just wasn't all that useful in this game, but double LP was excellent. Oh, and I believe the Golden Amulet is also available from the moogle in Eruyt Village past a certain point, after you clear the scenario at the mines.
