Does anyone have the 1990 Japanese reissue of Heaven & Hell, which is split into three tracks, Heaven & Hell Pt I, So Long Ago, So Clear, & Heaven & Hell Pt II. It is said to be a superior remaster to any of the others.

This is the back inlay, for reference:

Vangelis - Picasso (1982) mp3 @ vbr 192-320kps + recovery data, covers, tested.

"An audiovisual collage dominated by five elements: tables continuity flashes counterpoint historical events of the period when the pictures were painted, phrases, photographs and film of Picasso, living, watching, painting landscapes transposed, mythical and finally, short interviews with people who knew: Hartung, Miro, Mourlot, Edouard Pignon ... "

"A film about Picasso played by Picasso: painter Rossif was sandwiched in a kaleidoscope, and shaking the image box, has shattered all fields of life and work of the painter on a dizzying pace." The Dawn, 3 March 1982.

"Frederic Rossif scored a coup: making a film about Picasso as if nobody had done before him. His gaze was initially pegged to the painter as if it contained both his work his time, painting, and our eyes. This quadruple combination is born a dazzling exercise in style whose motivation might be: Picasso's work has neither beginning nor end, it covers the entire twentieth century, not in its chronology, but in its violence, its conquests, its coups, his passions. " Morning, March 3, 1982.

"This film, whose lyricism is backed by a very beautiful music of Vangelis Papathanassiou and which landscapes of Spain and the sea give a special breathing, makes us more easily enter the world of one of the greatest artists of our time. That realization has been phased in over three decades has enabled Rossif present a more complete work, with eloquent conclusion to the last works of the master. " France Soir, March 8, 1982.

I'll look on my PC and laptop for the other Frankenstein recordings. I know that there are three recordings from the same performance (I believe the one performed in Amsterdam many many years ago) each having their own ups and downs ;)

I don't think it has to do with Vangelis being out of touch as much as not caring. He's one of those artists that just makes art, if people do or don't see (well hear in this case) on a CD that's not really his problem. Important part of this is that he hates record companies and has taken the chance to make that clear on more than one occasion. Also sometimes it's not even his fault! Sony has enough music of Alexander (2004) to d a two-disc edition and they just never bothered, and Vangelis has admitted that they have the rights to do so and that it's not up to him in that case.

Anyways: Download link for all three recordings in .mp3 320. Not sure if these were the original files (I believe these were the ones I had downloaded) but these were the files that were on my iPod since I lost the files on my PC sadly enough...

A complete Alexander.

*sigh*

If only.

For certain film music reviewers at the time Vangelis' Alexander was insufficiently pretentious for their liking and they roundly panned the soundtrack. Myself, I very much took to its melancholy air, even if the composer realized it using simple constructs. Somewhat in his defence is the basic fact that the ancient Greeks didn't employ any advanced harmonic language, let alone counterpoint, because neither had yet been invented!

Vangelis - Frankenstein - A Modern Prometheus (1985) 192kps(Ripped as FLAC)

About the original FLAC's uploaded by Atget:

Basically same as Recording 1 in the archive uploaded by shadyelg but heavily tampered in loudness. The audio is also a couple of db's unbalanced on the left channel.
There's the classic 2 db silence gap where it should not be at all.
Audio spectrum is the same of Recording 1 but size is unnecessarily three times bigger considering the same quality. Sourced from the very same lossy mp3's as in Recording 1.

Shall we nuke it to avoid confusion or could please anyone possibly attach the relative notes so to avoid confusion to the posterity?

I will not mind some silly collector buying it on cdr when it will make it on eBay... but I do mind if everyone will get it wrong after all we tried to achieve with this thread.

Preserving. Period.

Download link for all three Frankenstein recordings in .mp3 320kbps. Not sure if these were the original files (I believe these were the ones I had downloaded) but these were the files that were on my iPod since I lost the files on my PC sadly enough...

About the mp3's uploaded by shadyelg:

Vangelis - Frankenstein Recording 1 39:48 - Vangelis-Frankenstein - Modern Prometheus [Limited Edition] cdr
There is a 2db unbalance on the left channel. This is a bootleg of the original gold cdr (http://www.nas2406.com/vangelis-rarities/newsite.php?methode=methode1&id=58) bootleg... unplayable by now.

Vangelis - Frankenstein Recording 2 36:56 - Vangelis-Frankenstein [00803 Edition]
Left channel had peaks limited. I'm afraid they made the mistake to apply denoising to get rid of some noises.

Vangelis - Frankenstein Recording 3 37:35 - Vangelis-Frankenstein [DG-V-2000-01 Edition]
Live recording from someone from the audience. Quality is not that good anyway.

Basically the cover on Recording 3 is the actual cover for Recording 1 and artwork on Recording 1 is the actual cover for Recording 3

Shall I take at some point the artworks were swapped by mistake?

If you have downloaded shadyelg's archive you might want to get rid of the embedded artworks and the actual covers and use the respective originals as in the fix for the archive

Vangelis - Frankenstein Recordings.rar (http://www.mediafire.com/?62ndv72sr9yu8kc)

And please do not suppot these ebay smartholes:

Vangelis Frankenstein | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VANGELIS-FRANKENSTEIN-/291069369319)

What they do is burning the lossy files from here on cd with a professional printed artworks. Silly collectors do buy that crap unfortunately.

Vangelis - Chariots of Fire - Complete Score

This double disc bootleg seems to be a combination of tracks from the official release, the OWM (or Volos) edition, different cuts and additional movie outtakes. The sound quality isn't always optimal, and although it isn't as 'complete' as the title suggests, this 'Complete Score' edition still remains a nice collector's item for fans of Vangelis' award-winning soundtrack.

<FONT size="3">SYNTHESIZER GREATEST - STARINK PLAYS VANGELIS</FONT>

In 1989 the Dutch keyboardist Ed Starink, also known as Star Inc., released a CD called "Synthesizer Greatest".
It contained cover versions of well-known instrumental hits and movie themes. Because of its high quality and its great worldwide succes another eleven volumes, as well as several compilations, were released in the following years. And all of those volumes included one, two or more Vangelis or Jon & Vangelis compositions.

Compiled with great care by a synthesizer music fan, mastered by the best in the business, and with original artwork by one of the most talented Vangelis artwork makers around, this exclusive collection contains every single Vangelis and Jon & Vangelis song ever covered by the renowned synthesizer wizard.

The compilation consists of three CDs, numbering no less than forty digitally recorded tracks.

Not only including Vangelis classics such as "Pulstar", "Chariots Of Fire", "Antarctica Echoes" and "Conquest Of Paradise", but also all the hard-to-get tracks from the original "Synthesizer Greatest" series, extended and alternate versions, four bonus tracks and an exclusive version of the "End Titles" from "Blade Runner", this is a must-have compilation for Ed Starink and Vangelis fans alike!

And the exclusive hidden bonus track on this limited edition release is certainly worth the wait!...

Hello boys, I have great curiosity about Vangelis-Κρήτη-2014: Mr. X (http://misterekis.blogspot.com/)

Κρήτη = Crete? What's this? Unreleased album?

Guilli: Hola Pendor, Cmo ests?
Pendor: No.
Guilli: NO!?
Pendor: Nunca intent sorprenderla, seorita, si quisiera hacerlo...
Pendor: No.
Pendor: En realidad jams he deseado decir nada al respecto.

What do I think of someone selling Vangelis bootlegs on eBay?

Not as much as the many happy collectors shopping for the rareties of their lives (http://feedback.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=sanvalentina04&ftab=AllFeedback) as a matter of fact...

We stumbled here for a reason and I still stand for that very reason.

And thinking that most of our efforts will eventually get lost there (http://www.ebay.com/) and sold as another real deal about Vangelis...

... but I'll leave that to you and keep this very polite. :)

It will not take much to assemble something like that though.

This silkscreen cd, wich is not factory press, has a very good to excellent quality sound and contains some sound effects from the movie

2CD'S- 35 TRACKS ,TOTAL TIME: 80 minutes

THANKS FOR LOOKING

There are things I could do and things that I would not do. Things I did and things I will not. ;)

Vangelis / Κρήτη ( 2014)

Yes indeed! BUSINESS as usual!

Everybody is of course free to do as he/she pleases. But I think that a word of warning is not out of place here.
As DC has already pointed out, these CDs are lossy-based and often of poor sound quality. And although they look rather nice with their professionally made artwork, far better versions of the music they contain can be found on these pages!
NOT worth the trouble, and certainly NOT worth your money!

There is of course no disputing about tastes! Everybody is entitled to his own opinion!
These may not be the catchy tunes that we all know and love from classic albums such as "Heaven And Hell", "Albedo 0.39" or "China", or from soundtrack albums such as "Chariots Of Fire", "Blade Runner" or "Conquest Of Paradise". But when you compare these compositions to e.g. some of the ones on "Earth", "See You Later", "Invisible Connections" - or indeed on "Direct" - then "appalling" may possibly be too strong a word.

Whether the tracks on this album were actually composed and performed by the man himself is something that we may never know for sure. If they weren't, then this is a joke of rather bad taste, and this release probably does not belong on these pages. But since Pendor is one of the most fervent guardians and preservers of Vangelis' musical heritage, let's at least give him the benefit of the doubt, and presume that the music on this mysterious album is indeed by Vangelis' hand!
So let's be grateful for what we were given, and perhaps someday Pendor will be prepared to shed some more light upon things... :)

There is no denying that the track lists appear to correspond. But those are nevertheless NOT the CDs that I ripped and posted a while ago!
So the question remains: who ripped off who here?
But since there seems to be some doubt, and since I don't have the possibility to compare both these versions, I've solved the problem at source!

The problem with some stuff being actually sold on eBay is repackaging something with a different artwork to make it more collectable. This might be the case. Frankenstein did originate from the original rip of the golden cd infact. It is not easy to tell about which is which when bootleggers starting bootlegging each other... and the quality of the audio remains the same. We've seen that before with the Esper Retirement being botlegged shortly after it first appeared on eBay. They put a different artwork to the same content and sold that as a new limited edition. That's when it gets silly, but that's also where the whole reasoning will eventually stretch to something that should not be but it is still allowed to make money off it. Sad.

Have you ever hear of a Vangelis ballet name BEAUTY AND THE BEAST?

Yes. Never heard it, or seen a download, though. It was performed in an expanded form in Moscow in 2013, but by an orchestra, not by Vangelis.

There is a bootleg including also the four short edits from the original recordings played by Vangelis that were broadcasted on a russian radio show (http://www.cultradio.ru/audio.html?id=426788&type=rnews) and arranged as a suite including excerpts of the music performed by the "New Russia State Symphony Orchestra" conducted by Igor Razumovsky I believe. I prefer the versions played on the synth though...

Try downloading it with Google Chrome. That might help.

You can also download JDownloader (http://jdownloader.org/download/index) and add the download link and click start. When the file is downloaded you will not be able to open the file until it is done "decrypting".
I have not found any other files that "decrypt" after downloading like Mega does.

*** The setlist was almost impossible to build *** ; here is what you can read on the Elsewhere Vangelis great independent site - thanks to him - (The Elsewhere Vangelis site (http://elsew.com/)) :
'The music at this concert is mainly improvised but sounds surprisingly full, considering the era it was performed in. Although there was no way yet to work with MIDI setups and smartly splitted and layered multisettings Vangelis managed to give a broad and lively performance.
The piano has a rather dominating function but is mostly accompanied by synthesizer sounds of all sorts. Also some sequenced cues are triggered by Vangelis to accommodate the music. Only a few small parts feature other musicians. The most important of these is the appearance of violist Michel Ripoche
Some parts of the new music are reminiscent of Ignacio (especially the piano part some 10 minutes into its first part) and China. Although a lot familiar cues appear, like the sequence of "I hear you now" (which was to be released a year after), very few actual pre-existing compositions were included. Amongst those that did appear were "Alpha" and of course "Pulstar" which Vangelis seems to play every time he can, each in a different way.'

WHY DID I USE minidisc (MD) ?
Actually Dime rules admit the use of MD as long as the original concert was on a cassette tape.
I numerized my tape on MD 10 years ago ; in those days I had no choice, because I didn't have aproper computer or software to do that. In the meantime, the original tape was exposed to 10 years of demagnetization... Honestly, using MD was the best solution.

Edit: Does anyone still have the 'In London' in lossless format? Last time it was here I missed it and haven't heard it yet myself actually.
Also has the original live music of Mythodea actually been released? I know the DVD has the studio version they also used on the CD with exception of Chariots of Fire. But as far as I know the full thing hasn't surfaced...

Vangelis & Jon - "It`s Just Pure, Improvisational Genius" 2cd
Live at University College, Royce Hall, LA, Nov 7, 1986 2cd

This recording has been re-editted to the best of my knowledge of Vangelis music.
As i`m not very familiar with Vangelis music, it has been hard for me to pick the
exact point to cut the tracks in pieces.
I don`t have many Vangelis cd`s and those i do have do not have most tracks
included here on them.
Also live interpretations of these songs often do not match the track times of the
studio recordings, so that wasn`t much help either.

This recording has been slightly tweaked for a better and fuller sound quality.
There are however some glitches and distortion in the source that could not be
removed, such as the sound of the microphone being touched or the
recorder/microphone not coping very well with the soundlevel of the concert
(which, as you can read in the other textfile included was pretty loud but good
with speakers as large as buildings (well small building anyway).
Also the source tape too must have suffered through the years!

That being said, i think the overal sound quality is a very good
audience recording rating B to B+ (to me and my ears).

The tracks titles (most of the Vangelis solo tracks) are unclear
to me, so any help identifying them would be much appreciated.
On the few different versions of this recodring the same titles
were used, and some are unknown titles.
Also the last track on cd1 and the first track on cd2 are (i think)
one and the same but cut in two, but i left it that way because
they are almost impossible to paste together well.

In short:
This recording was offered to me as a 2cd (thanks AH) with one track per cd.
These two tracks were then ripped (wave) to HDD and tweaked
and re-editted using Cool Edit Pro 2.1 to separate tracks.
These were then converted to FLAC using Traders Little Helper.
The usual EAC logs and md5 checksums are included for both discs.

The cover art is a simple reworking of the original vynil album cover,
and the use of some other new things.

Also included is an additional info file taken from a Vangelis fan site,
telling a little story about this show (please read it for more info).

Cd1:
01. Audience Applause
02. ...Title Unknown
03. Pulstar
04. Hymne
05. ...Untitled
06. Main Theme From "Missing"
07. To The Unknown Man
08. Grand Expose
09. Abraham`s Theme

Cd2:
01. Abraham`s Theme (Continued)
02. Introducing Jon Anderson / Jon`s Speech
03. So Long Ago, So Clear
04. Italian Song
05. One More Time
06. Main Theme From "Chariots Of Fire"
07. Chung Kuo
08. Singing In The Rain

Apologies to Vangelis fans if (and i`m sure i have) made a mess of the Vangelis tracks!

Originally seeded on Dime by Gromek on 26-02-2007
Re-seeded by Gromek on Dime on 13-10-2008

As i`m seeding this because of the Jon Anderson part, i chose to upload it under the Progressive Rock category.

Enjoy!

Taken from a Vangelis fan site.

Live in Los Angeles (November 7 1986)

During Vangelis' stay in the US he unexpectedly gave a concert in Los Angeles. He set up his synths so he could single-handedly play live versions (in new improvised versions) of his famous hits and improvise some new material. Sometimes the sound is a bit dry compared to his albums, because of his determination to play everything himself, but it certainly has a special feeling about it. Vangelis' talent to variate on his melodies in unexpected fashion was displayed here in full glory.
The music included Pulstar, Missing, To The Unknown Man, Memories Of Green, Blade Runner Lovetheme, Abraham's Theme, Hymne, Chariots of Fire and the Tao of Love as well as some new material; most of which transformed gently into the next track.
Jon Anderson came on stage at some point and sang a few famous J&V songs, to Vangelis' spontaneous new arrangements. This unique display was enthusiastically greeted by the overjoyed audience. The series of songs started with a stunning new rendition of "Long Ago, So Clear" from the Heaven and Hell album. It was followed by "Italian Song" and "One More Time".
At the end Vangelis came up with a totally restyled version of the famous "Singing in the rain", which was one of the rare occasion were Vangelis plays music that was not composed by himself. He made it his own though by rearranging it, pushing its flexibility to absolute limits.

Read the Eyewitness report below by Wade Major, who was present.

Report on the Los Angeles concert
-- Eye witness report on the concert in Los Angeles, 1986 --

By Wade Major

The Los Angeles concert
I remember when I first caught the ad in the Daily Bruin student newspaper at UCLA..."Vangelis to appear at Royce Hall." Knowing that he'd only given two or three concerts previously, I think my heart skipped a whole minutes worth of beats. The day the tickets went on sale, I was there over an hour in advance to insure getting the best seats possible, which isn't hard since Royce Hall is a small venue with excellent acoustics throughout.

Finally, the day arrived and it immediately promised to be everything I'd hoped for. The audience was demographically all over the map, from elderly opera patrons to middle-aged showbiz types to funky, young music industry types.

Entering the hall, the first thing to catch my eye was the wall of loudspeakers on the stage, approximately six 18-foot columns, each comprised of two massive 9-foot speakers, lined in an arc around the back of the stage. In the middle was an impressive console of what must have been at least 9 keyboards formed like three sides of a square.

As the hour approached, more people continued to stream in late, including Dyan Cannon and, most inconspicuously, Jeremy Irons, who was just coming off his success in "The Mission." Irons entered wearing a bright, cherry-red, velour-textured blazer and took his seat in the center section.

Finally, the lights went down and a respectful cheer erupted when Vangelis stepped out, smiled bashfully, and took his seat at the console, his left profile to the audience.

He effortlessly slipped through a half-dozen of his most memorable music, including pieces from Chariots, Albedo, China and Spiral.

I only vaguely remember him speaking at the break, just long enough to introduce an old friend... Jon Anderson, who stood up near the front of the hall and walked up on stage as the hall erupted into bigger cheers than previously. Whether arranged or not, the two performed "So Long Ago, So Clear" beautifully. Anderson praised his friend and offered some recollections of when they first met and how they worked together that elicited fond laughter from the audience, most of whom obviously had some knowledge of this history in the first place.

After the interlude with Anderson had ended, Vangelis resumed his repertoire, receiving a standing ovation at the end. He smiled gently from behind his keyboards, seemingly overcome and shy at the same time, the waved his hands in an amusing clenched fist "victory" salute over his head. When the ovation continued, a clear demand for more, he stopped, seemed to think for a moment and then nodded firmly, as if he had finally thought of the appropriate encore...."Singing in the Rain," Vangelis-style.

Again, a standing ovation and the all-too-short evening was over. As an overcome and overwhelmed audience exited Royce hall amid smiles and laughter, I remember overhearing Dyan Cannon exclaiming to her friends the same sentiment felt by all that evening, "It's just pure, improvisational genius."

"Cobalt Music", the successor to the former record label "Universal Music Greece" is about to release a deluxe box set version of Vangelis' original score for the 2007 movie "El Greco". The release comes on the occasion of a year of celebrations, exhibitions and other festivities in Spain and Greece, as 2014 marks the 400 year anniversary of the famous painter's death.

The score to "El Greco" was originally released in 2007 on CD in Greece by Universal Music Greece and later also sold in Spain. Since earlier this year, the music was also released to most of Europe in the digital domain.

Reliable sources close to Vangelis confirm that a limited edition deluxe box set will be released in Greece shortly. No exact date has been announced yet.

The release will be limited to a 1000 copies. The box will contain the soundtrack CD, the same soundtrack pressed on vinyl, a DVD of the movie and a book on El Greco by Taschen.

The contents will be packed in luxurious box, designed to match the artwork of the original CD.

Vangelis - L'Apocalypse des Animaux, 2012 "Remaster", FLAC + recovery data, tested, artwork, tracks & cue

L'Apocalypse des Animaux was scheduled for a remaster reissue in 2011, through Esoteric records. It was never released, and neither were the remasters of Opera Sauvage & La Fete Sauvage.

However, There is an "unofficial remaster", using a similar artwork style to the Esoteric reissues of 2013, as a "private release".

Whether or not any remastering has been done or not, I have no idea, but this is the copy I have of it. Enjoy.

N.B. There are two custom mediaface files for the booklet & CD label, printable using mediaface 4 or 5.

THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH, ATGET! yes, there is, in fact, an audible difference! i felt too much less hiss, it sounds like an analogic-digital-digital remasterization, instead the analogic-analogic-digital original recording. no matter vangelis participates or not of this job, the result was remarkable! for those who loves (who doesn't?) this very first vangelis' masterpiece (in my oppinion), downloading this version it's a must! thank you, again!

The issue is, this is not the OFFICIAL remaster. The music may have been remastered, but is not that which was done under Vangelis' supervision, as can be seen from the artwork.

The batch of remasters which this was part of, also including La Fete Sauvage & Opera Sauvage were withdrawn by the label they were licenced from. It was not a decision of Vangelis or Esoteric, so it has to go through all the legal machinations amongst the three parties.

Don't hold your breath waiting for their release.

Well. This version of "L'Apocalypse des Animaux" was not remastered by Vangelis.
That's a fact. And a very fortunate one considering the improvements over the original version.
Without going into details a lot of efforts were done to achieve that.
I do hope an official version by Vangelis might be released one day... crossing my fingers not to get the issues of the latest remasterings compared to their original counterparts. Reverb for one.
I was referring to "L'Arbre De Vie - Original Soundtrack Of The Frdric Rossif Documentary" which came out of the same remastering sessions in a way.
Let's hope for a Xmas gift for that and "La Fete Sauvage" & "Opera Sauvage" unofficiallly remasterd for the happiness of the eBuy sellers following this thread! :)

I have the artwork for L'Arbre d'vie, but not the remastered music, which has a very dfferent tracklist from the older version. I know it must be out there somewhere.
As for the ebayers, shame on the sellers, and more fool the buyers.

Wow, what a great medley! So many good cues in superb quality; too bad some of them are buried under rain effects :(

UPDATE: I know! Poltergeist2, I could be wrong, but it seems like you somehow expanded the stereo field of the DVD's rear channels, since they were originally in mono. Overall, great attempt at a new version, and it would be even better without the rain effects between some cues

Yes from the DVD surround (be sweet and be light software) I used a delay on one of the channels for stereo and a slight reverb with Audition. I needed a transition with the rain and wind. It sounded crap when I first did it but a year or so later it sounds OK but I know what you mean. End title from laser disk (some reason it was stupidly shortened on dvd) Rain/wind from BBC sound effects library which was used with the city album so it's kind of acceptable im my mind :) Last bit I used slight sound effect from chariots and weakened with a bit of music from the one world version simply because the last bit of that end title theme is truly stunning. I had to have it in.

No need to worry about the A.I. album (I already have the promo). I just wanted to convey my gratitude again for your contribution :)

I rather enjoyed this version, and think the use of the wind & wave sounds work very well. The only disappointment is that it is only one long track. I might try to mark the individual tracks, taking my cue & titles from the OWM CD.

I got this from the UK dvd box set. I ripped the surround with be light and be sweet. I was the creator of the 2001 and 2019 edition. Point being I'm looking for a pure blade runner soundtrack.

Not in the Final Cut I trust... I have raided every single bit out of that. Everything is mixed up on that.
I have to admit that the software I was using (DVD Audio Extractor) could not get past the trick on the Archival versions which had most of the streams in common... and I take that the only bits I could not properly demux where the ones you have been using perhaps...

One day I will have to try out the Be Light and Be Sweet alternatives... :)

Might we ask why so many versions of the 2019 edition? And why they all sound sourced from mpeg's?

Realistically what does anyone want from a blade runner soundtrack anymore. We can only go on what we can rip from the DVD or blue ray. Haven't we exhausted this already ?. I'm interested in your comments. Flac / mp3 ? What difference does it make as long as we can hear the sound ?

If you could point us to a better version of the ones you have posted so far it will not matter much... but this not being the case in my humble opinion it will matter indeed. :)

As far as I am concerned (and as everybody might already know) something different was already done... but not the different "angles" created on the 2019 and in the previous posts.
The 29th Anniversary Team has spent several weeks to tamper with some tracks on the 2019 edition... some of the things there just could not be replicated. Period.

Flac / mp3 ? What difference does it make as long as we can hear the sound ?

Oh... the chopped spectrum of mp3's I have always hated since I was in my teens as for reason number one... and not being able to enjoy a full blast of the Vangelis keyboards on my wooden speakers... and I am not talking about the crappy plastic computer speakers... as for reason number two. :)

Regarding FLAC vs. mp3, I think what DC means to say is that lossless options (like FLAC) allow for better preservation in case one wants to go back and re-edit, or someone else wants to use that track for their edition

EDIT: DC beat me to it lol

EDIT: DC beat me to it lol

I still think what we have of the 2019 Edition was a rip of decoded mp3's... (at least I could get similiar results still maintaing much more audio spectrum...) as all versions of the Los Angeles November 2019... as all versions of the Memoires 7 release.
I still cannot be sure about the former... but I am about the latters.

Here we are dealing with preservation.
What we have is what will be handled to whoever is coming after us.

Of course a FLAC's might be better for editing back things... I call that tampering for the good or worst one might get out of it!

But the point is definitely preservation. ;)

I have recently won a battle against a site selling wav's but being effectively mp3's.

I could have bought the mp3's that I could illegally download everywhere. But I usually choose to buy what I like and I 'd rather avoid that chopped spectrum if it cannot be helped. :)

Perhaps I was more than fortunate in collaborating with some of the makers of the Blade Runner editions in full 32bit and 48Khz... that is my standard... more than the average FLAC might ever reach... but that's just me perhaps!

---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:08 PM ----------

I know this sounds Utopian but why don't we all work together to find the perfect blade runner soundtrack instead of just hoping, needing, asking and wanting. I mean a pure version. This is the place, collectively why don't we work on it ? Please no dialogue, sound effects and other music that Vangelis composed as an afterthought. Our best work together ?

I second the last statement! :)

Admittedly I used other sources from the 2001 release before the box set (one world).

Sometime ago I layered all the available bits I was having to clone the Esper Edition... I eventually succeeded in making it full lossless but there were things I could not find anywhere on my sources... and kept the one they used except the ones sourced from mp3's... perhaps the One World Edition was the one I was missing?

We never heard of that anyway... I'm afraid most of us came after the Memoires series!

If you still have that we'd love to hear it! :)

This is a 'remastered' version of the 30th anniversary tribute by Rothermich from BSX, it does have additional tracks that didn't appear on the cd. 'Tales of the future', 'Dr Tyrell's death' and 'Deckard and Roy's duel'. But this new version does drop 5 tracks from the cd.

Additional tracks = Must Have!

With the exceptions of some changes to the titles as in 2. Main Titles (Film Version) / Prologue (4:00) a.k.a. 2. Main Titles (Film Version) / Prologue (4:00) and 9. On The Trail Of Nexus 6 (Tales Of The Future) (5:35) a.k.a. 8. Tales of the Future (5:35) and 12. The Prodigal Son Brings Death (3:37) a.k.a. 11. Dr. Tyrell's Death (3:36) and 13. Dangerous Days (1:05) + 14. Wounded Animals (11:00) a.k.a. 12. Deckard and Roy's Duel (12:04) and 17. Main Titles (Album Version) (4:02) a.k.a. 15. Main Titles (Alternate Mix) (4:02) you will be missing only 8. Deckard's Dream (1:16) on the CD version. :)

Aa a matter of fact the Edgar Rothermich / Blade Runner: Music From The Original Score is not even mentioned on the digital download section of the buysoundtrax store (http://buysoundtrax.stores.yahoo.net/dido.html) where the original cd version is not available anymore I'm afraid.

You can still find some physical copies (http://www.amazon.co.uk/BLADE-RUNNER-30TH-ANNIVERSARY-CELEBRATION/dp/B009GEOR9G/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1417952406&sr=1-3&keywords=Edgar+Rothermich) on Amazon though.

The digital download (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00QK36Q5E/ref=sr_1_27_rd?ie=UTF8&child=B00QK37VJ4&qid=1417952451&sr=1-27%3C/a%3E) on the Amazon store is simply a maimed re-packaging of the now deleted BSX's Blade Runner title... (all original MP3 Download (http://www.amazon.fr/Blade-Runner-Anniversary-Celebration-Picture/dp/B009JPUTOY/ref=mb_oe_o) links are now dead as you might see) and not a remastered version of the original limited cd version.

Beware of the candies from strangers! ;)

Not got the version you want but here is the complete 36 cue version taken from the surround. This has never been previously released. The sound has limitations but not distorted as in every other release and is not taken from any of the old sources.

From what I understand, if I'm not mistaken, this version of "The Bounty" is different from the classical OWM.
So thank you.

I know this isn't Vangelis but there is a relation.
Has anyone got the main title music from Scarface including the synthesized police sirens without dialogue ? My example link shows the main title theme without the police sirens from the surround.

Comments (http://elsew.com/data/bootlegs.htm):
The third Vangelis related bootleg, by the Japanese "Highland records" label features an audience recording of the concert Vangelis performed in Paris in 1978. The bootleg does not feature the entire recording: The bootleggers edited it down to make the results fit on only one CD. The quality of the recording is comparable to the tapes that were traded amongst fans in the '80s and early '90s. The bootleg was quite widely distributed in Japan. From the outside it's not very clear that this is in fact a low quality bootleg, instead of a regular album. Be warned!

Comments (http://elsew.com/data/cover.htm):
A happy exception to the rule that cover versions can't be interesting. Initially only available as a digital download, later released on CD in France (minus the vocal track "Come To Me") this album "Tribute To Vangelis" (2011) by Jon Anderson collaborator Christophe Lebled is a popular release among Vangelis fans. Christophe has managed to find new ways to explore 11 of Vangelis' best known tracks, and treats them with dignity, while creatively re-envisioning them. With its Warm instrumentation and lush soundscapes, these recordings are a very pleasant way to rediscover the melodies you already love. The only drawback might be the quantized style of performance, but this is well made up for with its impeccable production. This is worth your attention!

Sorry for the late but I am still recovering after the party that Santa throw after the Christmas deliveries.
After the handling was over we all had a quite innocent poker game with all the elves and we stopped only when five jacks were laid on the table.
Needless to say that Santa, now at the second bottle of Jack, ran after the tricky elf all around the whole globe.
Eventually I had to wait for Santa to wake up to give me a lift home with his sledge! Elves are not allowed to travel with his sledge as you might already know!

Now the Christmas gifts! :)

I was somehow expecting something less clear when the maker wrote "listenable" but I am really happy with the surprise. Pretty complete too. The more complete will be the man himself licensing his music for a more archival oriented release... which will never happen considering the approach used for Blade Runner matter of fact... so I am the most grateful for his efforts.
Some of the songs are the traditional irish music heard in the movie which makes a nice interlude in between the Vangelis cues... I like that approach.
Everything seem to be right there including the percussion pieces.
If you already have it you should also get this version.
It also includes the front cover now! Not to mention a nice tagged back up for your mp3 players!
I'm afraid I have no(t that much) idea on how to use photo editors but I'll be glad to help with the originals for the covers if anyone is interested to take over on the task!

This particular link seems quite touch and go... and it also looks like it was originally upped some Christmas ago! ;)

Vangelis composed 2 classical compositions for Wayne Eagling ballet choreographies in the mid eighties.
This is the second effort for the new 2013 performaces of the Beauty and the Beast balled.
This time as performed by The New Russia State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Igor Razumovsky.
Also included an ouverture of the original Vangelis compositions... I believe.
Allegedly by some Russian hackers?
Tracklist and durations do not match with the actual content on the cd though.
Someone wished it that way anyway.
Allegedly limited to 55 copies with free digital download code.

No. Don't ask. They can't.
They also wish to hell with some rather silly Doscogs user... I am pretty sure they got the name wrong though... but I promised to pass the message (but not the offensive f words) in exchange for this. :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was going to post the FLAC's of "Sensitivity Plus Alpha" (1978) [thanks to dvran by the way. The version you have posted appears to be more lossless than my lossy lossless copy as a matter of fact), "Crime And Passion" (1974) and "My Brother The Traffic Policeman" (1965) [neither this really]... but they all appear to suffer from the same "An Other Page Of Life" stigmata.
Neither the poor swiss collector did suspect of what he had happily purchased. Beware of some unusual eBuy scum... though some seller is more honest than others. Probably sourced from low bitrates mpeg's unfortunately.
The 1992 misprinted CAM versions of "La Fete Sauvage" (1975) and "Entends-Tu Les Chiens Aboyer" (1975) were unfortunately beyond repair since the archives got corrupted during tranfer I'm afraid.
So you only get my good will to add also those to the post.
If anyone could help with those we might all appreciate considered the efforts they recently made to ruin the intended dynamic of the originals. And they call that remastering...

Anyway... belated Merry Xmas and Peace on earth to all peers of good will! ;)

Oh... and it is not New Years Day yet!
Expect some special wishes from The Sound Of Blade Runner legendary maker! He too was after the tricky elf it seems!

And I am not an elf just in case you are wondering. I did have a sixt jack in my sleeve though... :)

[I]PS: First one quoting the hell out of the post is a cheeky monkey!

Is that really Vangelis music in that Le Crpuscule des Ombres track?

Sounds like James Horner's music for Black Gold - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THOj586o6l4 listen around 1.20, it starts around 1.20 in the track you shared.

That is surely James Horner. Well spotted! ;)
I am listening to the Black Gold cd as I am writing (after the Aiden Grimshaw cd got stack on the cd player for most of the afternoon...) and you are quite correct on that bit of the music.
The first track (with the Salome's Dance meets Damask Rose feel) does sound as Vangelis but I cannot really tell though it seems Vangelis is involved in the score as a matter of fact.

Hello DC, i'm Umberto from Rome i'm a fan of Vangelis since 1981... About beauty and the beast the first 4 tracks are the original music of the Maestro of 1986, the quality 'audio is excellent but the music is edited.
I was wondering if you could find all the music of the first part (47 min.) In practice those played by Vangelis in the old version of the show.
Anyway thank you for everything and I will try to repay very soon ...

I'm afraid the only bits of the music... the ones also included on the cd (surely from the only radio special on the ballet where they were broadcast)... are the ones leaked out from the original music that Vangelis composed at the time.
If someone transcribed it than an original must surely exist but that none except Mr. Eagling and Miss I-do-not-remember-the-name and her collaborators is having.
Perhaps they will read this and might intercede for us with the man himself... who knows!

I do hope to see the music released to the general public one day. :)

All right... Let's kick the New Year with something that was kindly donated to all Vangelis aficionados by the legendary maker behind "The Sound Of Blade Runner".
He was always a fan of Vangelis music and his work to preserve some of the maestro's work in the form of musical suites is perhaps less known.
Here the music of the composer is presented in a more flowing feel typical of the latest release of the maestro himself.

I especially like the music from the more recent "Trashed" documentary on which the incidental ambiences popping out at times only add to the musical depths of this more contemporary soundscapes Vangelis created.

The music for "Georges Mathieu ou la Fureur d'tre" is more bombastic and as you might already know it was fully improvised on the scene.
Whether it will one day receive a proper release or not we can only wish for a restoration from the isolated score off the Rossif documentary.

No need to comment on the suite from "The Sound of Blade Runner". We know already how we all feel about that particular soundtrack... If it wasn't for JacKc we might not be here at all most likely... ;)
Again the wish is to be graced of all the music composed for the movie released sometime in 2019. Let's hope we're nearly there! :)

The "Chariots of Fire" suite is the actual film music as could be heard only in the movie itself since the versions on the official release of the soundtrack were performed anew.

The "Tegos Tapes" selections from Dr. Stergios Tegos you might already know. Here a selection in form of excerpts restored and edited from original tapes was assembled in order to present them in a more musical form.
While they might not stand aside from the context and the purpose they were composed for they make a really nice ambience texture to listen to.
Everything composed by Vangelis by 1998 pops up here and there adding to what we ended up loving of its music.

Our best wishes go to this legendary maker for the tremendous work done. Te deseo todo lo mejor. ;)

If it wasn't for JacKc we might not be here at all most likely... ;)

The "Tegos Tapes" selections from Dr. Stergios Tegos you might already know. Here a selection in form of excerpts restored and edited from original tapes was assembled in order to present them in a more musical form.

It was here a while back. Same as the original Off World boot basically but with the truncated parts (Arkhan released a truncated version of the Off World) added from a low quality mpeg version of the Off World version.
If you have the Vangelis - Antarctica (Arkhan Records) version that is the one. I trust you might have that. :)
If you might have the Off World version... we would like to hear it... even if mpeg quality!

That was the point of the whole restoration by Zyzz back then. :)

As Atget has pointed out you might use something like Medieval Cue Splitter... but if you do use that software make sure to decompress to .wav first.
Splitting from .flac is not a good idea when using Medieval Cue Splitter. You will likely get different samples compared to every other similar software (I personally prefer EAC or CueTools... but they might be a bit more complicated compared to the ease of use of Medieval Cue Splitter).
Open the .cue file and change FILE "Vangelis - Antarctica.flac" FLAC to FILE "Vangelis - Antarctica.wav" WAVE
Now do make sure to tick both the "Add gaps" and "Invert gaps" options.
The "Add gaps" option will add any gap (if present) to the beginning of the track (useful to retain the initial audio samples if present) while the "Invert gaps" will reverse the gaps to the end of the previous track.
When pasting back all the splitted tracks you should end up with the same image-file... if not... switch to EAC or CueTools! :)

The version you have posted should be the one fixed by Zyzz most likely since the original Arkhan release (at least the version that we all had back then) had the tails chopped off.

All I need to hear is that Vangelis is doing the soundtrack, and I will wet myself.

We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners. Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldnt be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.

Let's wait and see how things will turn. :)
