Out of curiosity, how are the fsb.xen files encryted? What algorithm is being used?
The .FSB.XEN are regular encrypted .FSB (FMOD Sound Bank) files, I don't know which encryption algorythm is used by FMOD.

Thank you for erverything!

Hey Alpha, I was thinking, isn't the LocoRoco rip a bit incomplete? I can't avoid compare it with the original soundtrack (in wich all the music is in the game), and I get a number of tracks as well in run time far less than the OST.
Anyway, congratulations for your work, I've been listening a lot of music from psp games thanks to you. ;)
(give me a discount, regarding my English :p)

Hm, I'll have a look at the OST but I'm sure I converted all the music there was. Only thing I could imagine is that they used different versions in the game like short edits. It's all a bit different in the land of the morning... ;)

Here's another puzzle soundtrack. This one was harder to rip than other PSP games due to the vast amount of duplicates (more than 75%). So don't wonder about the numbering of the files.

Cube: 3D Puzzle Mayhem
2007-04-30

composed by Micheal Hodgson, Paddy Free
41 tracks, 00:59:28
fully looped, duplicates deleted
style: ambient electronical

And another VERY ambient score =)
Problem here was that the tracks beginning with 'E' (voice in the background) couldn't be looped, so I had to fade them at the end.
If anyone knows how these tracks play inside the game, please let me know!

Here it is, f00king awesome score. Try it out, highly recommended! Took me all month to do this score, segmented tracks are a real bitch. No tracknames included, however I did classify what kind of track each was (action, tension, build). Flac version would have been lossy so had no point upping it. Thanks to Ripper935 and Steven_24 for supplying.

comment: finally did a proper re-rip! It took me a couple of hours to loop and re-name all the tracks by comparing them to the OST versions. Many tracks from the game are different than on the OST, so if you like the music - grab this one!

P.S.: I'll only release MP3 and OGG versions with cue files from now on. The cue files are needed to re-edit looping points and contain the markers I used to loop. They can be applied to the decoded wave files with the Cue List Tool (http://www.stefanbion.de/cueltool/index_e.htm)

Hey, Alpha23, I have a question. Does the .AT3 file format contain loop points embedded in the files? If so, I was thinking of making an alternate soundtrack with the new remixes in Ys I & II Chronicles for PSP, so they could be used seamlessly with the PC versions. I could do it manually, but that would take a while...

Not duplicate files, duplicate music. The amount of music that is repeated before the fade-out.

Only ATRAC3-encoded files contain markers but not ATRAC3+-encoded ones. The markers inside my AT3 rips are only accessible with Sony Sound Forge.
Markers will be saved externally from now on (.CLT or .CUE files).

Well, Ys I & II Chronicles stores all of its music in AT3 format. So is there a converter for the format that would preserve any loop points, if they're there?

As I said, it depends on the atrac format. Look into the files with a hex editor at bytes 0x14 and 0x15. FF FE = ATRAC3+ (no looping points stored), 70 02 = ATRAC3 (looping points stored). ATRAC3+ files can directly be opened with Adobe Audition and Sony Sound Forge where you'll see the markers.

Bigass one.

This update is broken into two parts. Part 1, Non-Series Rips, and Part 2, the Metal Gear Solid rips.

Change from now on is Rapidshare 200 mb parts, Megaupload 95 mb parts, and Flac is always Rapidshare 200 mb. Older rips I did early on I didnt do rapidshare so that's why only some of them are rapid and mu.

Section 1: Non-Series Rips

Infernal: Hell's Vengeance (Adam Skorupa) Xbox 360 - 85 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PPIIKAYZ
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L3N8A43E
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UYV3MSL2

Fix Track: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7F47HI7G

Was a real, real, pain in the ass to rip. And I fucked this one up, didn't convert the first one second or so of music. But have no time to rerip this, so it'll have to do for now. Fix track is the credits, forgot to upload that one with the rest somehow. Awesome metal score, if you can forgive the one second errors. Oj supplied this one.

Legendary (Jack Grillo, Ricardo Hernandez) Xbox 360 - 123 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TQKJZ6PQ
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PZKJB3EW

Was a pain in the ass to rip as well, like all Unreal Engine 3 games on the 360 that are compressed. BUT, I didn't fuck this one up. :p Awesome metal score. Thanks Ripper935 for supplying.

Full Auto (John Roome, Rom Di Prisco, Various Artists) Xbox 360 - 83 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=87LLL62W
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KRUL77TR
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LOQG2Y01

Now here we go, not a pain in the ass! Awesome metal/electronic score. Not your typical combat racing score, very good. Thanks Moriya for this one.

G-Force (Steve Duckworth) PS2 - 79 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GP1NJ185
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0RL9URFG
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BDT7ELS5

Very, very good score. In the leagues of Need for Speed Most Wanted. Combat tracks are high speed orchestral electronics with no limit to those awesome guitars. Thankies OJ.

G-Force (Steve Duckworth) PSP - 31 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=REUGEIV0
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W4FZQRCB

^^. With different cues.

Assassin's Creed: Altar's Chronicles (Gameloft) Nintendo DS - 21 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SV77GU59

Awesome score! Shitty quality. Mono 22 khz. :( Same style as Assassin's Creed (that awesome Jesper Kyd ethnic electronic orchestral stuff).

Section 2: Metal Gear Solid

Ok. My first series rip. Metal Gear Solid. So. It's not exactly complete. MGS1 was ripped software by Alpha a while back, it was looped and all that, so no need to rerip it at the moment. Metal Gear Solid 2. Ripped the PC version. PS2 version was shitty to rip, and I suspect the xbox version would be shitty too. PC doesn't have as much music as the console ports I think, and I couldn't get the movie archives to unpack and convert. :( Metal Gear Solid 3. Proprietary audio format. No luck decoding it. Maybe another time. Metal Gear Solid 4. Nope, no chance, PS3 game, encryption-zorz. So the games I mostly ripped were the spin-offs. All the Metal Gear Solid PSP games I ripped. Ripped Twin Snakes. All that stuff like Document of Metal Gear Solid 2 and addons with new music I had no time to look at, but, I can bet you it uses the shitty Konami dat's, and a proprietary audio format to come along with it. Portable Ops Plus only has one song, the icon music, and the cinematics music but that was unrippable because PSP vids aren't rippable with audio at the moment, therefore I didn't rip that one.

And uh, yeah. The links kind of got cut off. Forgot about the Rapidshare character limit. So download these in order. Label the first link "Metal Gear Solid - The Twin Snakes (Dave Miner, Steve Henifin, Norihiko Hibino, Shuichi Kobori, Tosh).part1.rar" Obviously that's not the complete filename but who gives a damn. Label the next link the same thing, only part2.rar at the end instead of part1.rar. Do that for the rest of the links, in order. OR, you could just download the Mega links. :p

Its' like that 5carface, there were SFX and voices all over the place in there. So I just picked out the music, and that made gaps in the numbering.

Plus, there were many duplicates.

And thank you, for that great compliment of yours Alpha.

First of all, Bullet Witch is not silence. I've tested it. Russ has tested it. And I'm sure many other people have tested it, based on the number of downloads. You can test it, it is not silence. Try changing your audio player to Winamp. Second of all, here is me being frank. All this "PERFECT looping points, PERFECT fading, PERFECT shit" that you talk about doesn't matter.

What matters is, that people enjoy it, and that it is listenable. Nothing needs to be PERFECT.

And you cannot argue that mine, or OrangeC's rips, are not listenable. Ask practically anyone in this thread. They all think it's listenable. You may think that they're not listenable, but the rest of the population here aren't perfectionists, and frankly, do not CARE, about perfect rips. They just care that the music is there, and that it sounds good. And I am doing exactly that.

They don't need PERFECT looping points, therefore, they do not care. Sure, they might say, "Great! PERFECT looping points!" But no, they wouldn't really care, one way or the other, perfect looping points or not. Why do we share here? It's for the people. We meet the peoples' needs, they are happy. I think OrangeC and I are doing a perfectly good job of it.

By the way, VGM Legacy is a team. Frankly, I don't think we are working very well with you throwing public insults at OrangeC and me all the time. It isn't going to work like that. Sometimes, you just have to learn to be subtle.

You didn't really think your post wouldn't offend someone, did you?

Try to understand that you just dismissed two months of my hard, hard work, blood and sweat, as rubbish. I wouldn't feel so great if I were you. But I'm not you, and I wouldn't know, perhaps you're one of those people who don't feel anything.

Perhaps, make a few small, nice comments on improvement. Don't go out and say, HELLO, PIE AND ORANGE. YOUR RIPS SUCK. NO OFFENSE. That just isn't going to work.

Sorry pals, but that's how it is. So please don't take offense in me being direct...

All this "PERFECT looping points, PERFECT fading, PERFECT" that you talk about doesn't matter.

Listen who's talking... Sounds like you were almost 10 years older than me and not the other way round. ;) Just calm down a bit.
I'm just saying that some quality standards here don't meet my expectations. That's just a personal remark so there's no need to feel insulted.
But I really appreciate you constructive criticism! =)
To be honest, It seems like I didn't understand the purpose of this group. Now that you told me in a really comprehensible way what this thread is all about, I agree with you that no rip has to be 'perfect' if you just want to deliver rips that are 'listenable', you just have to surpass your personal threshold for your definition of 'listenable'. But regarding VGM ripping, I definitely have other thresholds. So as a conclusion I can only do one logical thing: I'm leaving VGM Legacy.
That's no offense or me trying to hit on somebody here. I honstly wish you all the best for your group for the future! =) =) =)

pietastesgood

There shouldn't be any problem with the MU mirrors. Are you downloading to a folder with a long name? Download directly to C: or C:\My Music or somewhere with a short filepath, as I overlooked the fact that Twin Snakes has so many composers. =\

What problem are you getting, anyways?

No, actually a baseball flew out of my monitor and gave me a concussion. Luckily, I recover fast.

I'm not sure what happened. It works fine here. You using Winamp? Restart Winamp, or try converting a track to MP3 and playing it.

Wipeout Pulse

So thank you all!

I just have a suggestion: in the first post of the topic, besides of the list of rips that are now available, you may add a list of the works in progress, so that we know they are on the tracks and won't have to ask for it ;)

Ok, time for a quite serious post. Since I've left VGM Legacy I've talked to OrangeC, pietastesgood and Kataah a lot about the group, my opinions and my behavior. OrangeC explained to me that I'd be free to come back if I lowered my temper. I'd like to post the essence of our last conversation here:

Alpha23: I told you I'd think about re-joining VGM Legacy. And I've thought about it.

OrangeC: Okay.

Alpha23: I can understand what pie posted back then, that the main goal of VGM Legacy is to deliver rips that users enjoy. Which doesn't necessarily have to mean that all the members have to absolutely love the rips of the other members. But they have to respect them. I'd be glad to help other rippers in improving their quality - but if my - sometimes very high - standards aren't reached, I mustn't be disillusioned. Like you once said: If you don't like it, just don't download. Simple as that. After all, it means something what VGM Legacy does. It's a simple philosophy but it's often 'the simpler the closer to the heart'. Perfectionism is something for the mind, delivering something for people to enjoy is for the heart. The right mixture of both makes what VGM Legacy should stand for. I've neglected the emotional side too much and that led to all the trouble. I can't deny that I felt something like comfortableness being in VGM Legacy.
So after all, I guess I'd like to re-join.

OrangeC: Okay Timo very nice speech

Alpha23: Thanks

OrangeC: Then ya can rejoin

Alpha23: =) =) =)

So, well... GOOD TO BE BACK!
I hope some of you aren't shocked... But don't worry, I promise to be nice from now on. ;)

First big update will follow soon! =)

Hi pietastesgood! Great update!! But I'm having problems with all of your files! I download each file and that goes just fine. But, when I go to play them I get no audible sound. I've checked each file individually and it says that its there title, name, playing time ex., but still no audio. I've tried three different players and still no sound. I checked my sound card just to make sure my PC isn't crapping out and it's fine. I'm no rookie when it comes to this stuff, so any suggestions?? I've even tried converting the files to FLAC, MP3, a ton of other formats and nothing. Has anyone else had this problem? I downloaded both megaupload and rapidshare Ogg links just to make sure it wasn't an issue with the upload site. Both have the same outcome.

I've been playing the Batman: Arkham Asylum demo ever since it came out, and the music in the demo is some of the finest VGM music I've heard. Really, really sets the tone while you are playing.

If there is a vote for a Arkham Asylum rip, count me in.

Hey pie. Just to clarify it is only this latest update that I'm having issues with. All of your other updates have worked just fine for me. Man I wish I could figure out whats going on here!!! I love the music from Resident Evil!!! This is like some sick twisted joke. The computer gods are like "Oh so close, but no cigar!" If anyone could upload the RE files I would forever be thankful. I know this is a tall request, so I understand if no one does this.

Stop posting requests!

You're not allowed to request gamerips! Read the first page of this thread, rule number 5!! They rip what they want to rip, not what people like you tell them to.

EDIT: Just a little tired of everyone still refusing to follow the rules.

I'm sorry. I thought about this after I made a request, so I sent a PM to Pie. My apologies.

Don't open 7z-files with WinRAR, sometimes it doesn't recognize them correctly, especially when the file names are encrypted! Download 7zip for these.
BTW, I always use 7zip because I don't have to click 10 times (!) to create an encrypted archive (like it's the case with WinRAR).

Okay a great update now.

Batman - Arkham Asylum (Ron Fish) - xbox360 214 Tracks

Damn was a hard one, has many segments and two different codecs mp3 and xma, mp3 tracks were interleaved so had to find another method with the fmod tool, but works great and i can rip other X360 games with this crap codec, also ran into some multichannel xma's but will look into the pc version for these tracks.

Game has many short segments but great combat tracks, some tracks are ambient, and its also layered.

By the way, weird request but what the hell...
I'm nearly finished the game and I'm just wondering, is there any chance you can rip the VOCAL of the part where Joker appears on the TV (right before fighting Ivy) laughs, screen goes blank, and laughs again?

I seriously want that laugh for my cell phone ringtone. I can't imagine how hilarious it will be for other people to hear Mark Hamill's sinister cackle go off whenever someone calls. I might LIKE having people call me all of a sudden.
