And Victor, if you're trying to download from Russ on soulseek you might want to ask nicely or not queue up a thousand folders or whatever you are doing, and you might actually get all those gamerips you're looking for. Not trying to be rude, but that's how it works on soulseek. It will benefit you in the long run.

@Victor007

WHAT? Did you know who has done this rip and is this rip released here???
THATS my rip - man you can be really lucky that you have a source to get PRELEASED RIPS and especially my rips.

I will release this rip next time with my next update and it will be a fixed version - There are 110 Tracks not 111 - one track was corrupt + duplicate.

Well about the requesting thing - i have not a problem with it but i have a very big queue therefore dont ask me and Orangec is busy too- I think Alpha can do some requests or pietastesgood - ask them both via pm or in their threads

Hey Alpha, dont know how to do any of that lol. its hard 4 me. i barely use a cpu & i mean BARELY.

but if i somehow did sucesfully decode the FLAC & OGG files back to WAV & re-convert them to ALAC, will i lose quality? if so, how much? is there a way to put them on my ipod without losing ANY quality? when i rip a cd, i use ALAC & i lose NO quality.

sorry i dont mean to be a bother, but can u guys rip mp3 files from now on (if not all, then at least my requests) cuz i'd like to put them on my ipod & ogg/FLAC files cannot be put onto ipod & ill lose quality re-converting them. i understand some may want FLACs or OGGs, but i onestly dont tink theyll care that much as long as tey have what they asked for. besides, i dont tink im the only 1 who wants to put these masterpieces on my ipod. please take it under consideration for at least my requests if not for all future rips.

thank u.

oh & im sure everyone knows by now, MJ passed. as a tribute to him, i'd like his discography ripped perferably at 320 - every song e ever did. i know it will take a LONG time so ill be patient. im sorry for asking tis in te wrong place but i thought that since u rip games, u can rip music from one of the greatest musicians & entertainers in the world. can this be done if i use the Request forum? that is where all te Requsts go. just wanted to ask before requesting it there if it can/will be done or not. no point if noting will become of it. know what i mean?

Hey Pie are you still doing "Condemned 2"

Kataah@VGM_Legacy
06-26-2009, 10:38 AM
@phenomangel

Flac versions are lossless - you use a lossy codec - therefore you loss quality.
Of course you loss more quality if you reconvert ogg to mp3. Anyway we had a longer discussion about that - here you go :
Thread 64926 last post ;)

Alpha23
06-26-2009, 01:03 PM
@ phenomangel:
MJ disco - NO! Please ask in another thread!
MP3 releases: If you don't know how to convert OGG -> WAV -> MP3 - GOOGLE IT FOR GOD'S SAKE! We won't release MP3 versions here just because some people are just TOO LAZY to look things up! What else could I conclude from your posts?!
And by the way: I don't believe ANYONE in this forum can hear the difference even between MP3, OGG and FLAC!! I will prove it to you soon and hopefully wake you up!

I don't want to sound rude, but I'm pretty pissed right now!

ggctuk2005
06-26-2009, 01:36 PM
MP3 loses quality, and as such, will distort after multiple saves, OGG less so, FLAC, like wav, does not.

pietastesgood
06-26-2009, 03:25 PM
Phenomangel, this is a game music/movie soundtrack forum, not a band/pop artist music forum. MJ stuff aint gonna be here. You're better off looking for a torrent.

And no, read the rules. OGG. Not MP3.

Next time, please try to edit your posts too. ;)

I don't believe ANYONE in this forum can hear the difference even between MP3, OGG and FLAC!!

Update, decided to upload some flac versions of these as many are highly requested.

Red Faction 3: Guerrilla (Jake Kaufman, Dan Wentz, George Oldziey, Tim Wynn) Xbox 360 144 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=49342LK0
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JUAOU0Z0
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RR2KLSX6

Here it is, f00king awesome score. Try it out, highly recommended! Took me all month to do this score, segmented tracks are a real bitch. No tracknames included, however I did classify what kind of track each was (action, tension, build). Flac version would have been lossy so had no point upping it. Thanks to Ripper935 and Steven_24 for supplying.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Steve Jablonsky, Bobby Tahouri) PSP 23 Tracks

Ogg:

Flac:

Great score, love the decepticon theme. Tracknames included.

Transformes: Revenge of the Fallen (Steve Jablonsky, Bobby Tahouri) PS2 50 Tracks

Ogg:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OY1CXG3C
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G3VEXO3D
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BL54F21Q

Great one too, more orchestral than the PSP version, but still very nice. No tracknames given.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Paul Linford, Various Artists) Xbox 360 168 Tracks

Ogg:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6JSZ1WPY
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CEVV2V5R
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K1AVO0RP
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y007HXTB
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NXVOQDZ3

Flac:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4D5H8F3J
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4LEKC7U9

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O7FGCX7T
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E7KS4WHO
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8RNSNEH1

Awesome, of course. Better than the old orangec one, includes more tracks, stingers, licensed, and cinematics music. Flac does not include cinematic tracks due to some technical difficulties. If you want the cinematics download the ogg version as well. Thanks to Ripper935 for supplying.

Spider-Man 3 (Tobias Enhus) Xbox 360 108 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P04MRJPX

Yeah seems to be; it had all 24 tracks and has the right total running time.
But they were mp3 and not ogg files - that may be the reason the size is smaller.

Well, just decided to do rips of the PSP versions of pie's rips, namely
Red Faction: Guerillia, Need for Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0 and Spider-Man 3.
I'll just first finish the rips I'm currently on (Wipeout Pulse, Need for Speed Underground: Rivals, Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix - to get rid of the licensed music games - and Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings).
Well, this could take some time. ;)

P.S.: Need to do a re-rip of Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice as well - correct the beginning of each track and mix some of them together. I guess they originally were long songs, which they just splitted to get more tracks.

Spider-Man 3 on the PSP does not have nearly as much material as the PC/PS3/XBox360 versions. The same is true of the Wii and PS2 versions as they're all the same.

Awesome, of course. Better than the old orangec one, includes more tracks, stingers, licensed, and cinematics music. Flac does not include cinematic tracks due to some technical difficulties. If you want the cinematics download the ogg version as well. Thanks to Ripper935 for supplying.

Is there any difference between PSP Need for Speed Undercover version and PS3, x360, PC?

As fas as I know, there's no difference. The PSP version only features the licensed tracks of the console versions. Only difference is the icon music I think. It's a pity they didn't include the Paul Haslinger score! :(

Well, truth be told, who is to say you will be requested a Current-Gen game?

I just wanted to ask if you guys would be willing to do a PS2 game. Now, do I know the difficulties of rips? Absolutley not, I wouldn't know the first thing about it. But I would assume that games from last gen would be a good deal easier to rip than games from a current gen.

And even then, those are requests, not demands. :)

Which doesn't really change the fact that we don't take requests... ;) I know it's hard, but that's just the way it is. Just leave it at that.

Downloading music is pretty illegal but that doesn't stop people from talking about how it should be allowed, despite the impossibility of that happening.

But yeah, I'll drop it. No one else seems interested to discuss it, so no further need to derail this thread.

Although, it would be cool if one of you rippers decide to do a "The Making Of..." in regards of the actual process of ripping a game's music. :)

Hello Kataah,
is it possible to revisit Colin O'Malley's superb orchestral score for
the SUPERMAN RETURNS Video game? It's grand symphonic style recorded
with the Bratislavia Radio Symphony Orchestra. Shame that this marvellous
score was not ripped before (only a line-in rip by DVDRick excisted).
Now with xbox3 ripping possible, it would be a great job to bring this
full orchestral score to the game music afficionados.
Greetings, Klaus.

Laws are subject to external influence. These are personal decrees, only influenced by what the individuals decide to allow. The point is that their reasoning has been explained, numerous times. Pursuing the issue when they've made their policies known is foolish, in addition to futile.

Save the best for last. This score just rocks!! Running time over 6 hours of pure symphonic/industrial bliss. Was really crap to rip, damn containers with headerless xma, had to extract 201 tracks one by one, fix the filenames for all of them, add headers one by one, and convert them one by one. Crap, but it's worth it. Thanks to OrangeC for supplying.

Hey pie, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but there's something wrong with the Prototype rip... it's slow. I've done a 1:1 comparison with the game for a few of the tracks, and the OGGs are definitely not as uptempo as the ones in the game proper. Sounds like it should be 48kHz instead of 44.1kHz, or something. It's somewhere in between, oddly enough...

pietastesgood
07-06-2009, 02:28 AM
Huh. Odd, well when I input the xma's into the converter it came out as 44.1. Even if I re-encoded to 48 khz the sound would be distorted, so I'm not sure if that's a good idea.

What tracks are slowed down? The combat, ambient, or suspense tracks?

Ninja Blade x360 rip.

Am I only one who hears noise on the background of the tracks? Or something similar, anyway I can't explain it better. But the tracks or I think that the rip in this case ain't clear one. Line-in rip would explain this otherwise I don't get it.

pietastesgood
07-09-2009, 07:36 PM
Hm, it wasn't line in. I didn't do anything weird to the files so I'm guessing it's either your comp or there was something wrong with the source files. Personally I didn't hear any noise.

First of all, read the rules. I think "eh Dude Kataah send me the Soundtrack already -.-" counts as a request, and not a very polite one, either.

Look, I'll post the rule for you.

5). Due to the overamount of requesting twats i ask that no one post no more requests. We rip what we decide to rip, thats that. i dont like to take the pis here but if it has to it has to.

I hope that is self-explanatory.

Second of all, Kataah is very busy right now, both with life and ripping, he does not have the time to send you links the moment you ask for them. Be patient. Being rude isn't going to help you get the soundtrack any quicker, in fact, it might even delay it. Remember, we are the suppliers here. If you aren't polite, we can simply just not give the soundtrack to you. And then, where would you be? Keep that in mind.

Third of all, you're not searching hard enough. Keep searching. It's there.

I don't mean offense, I am simply telling you the truth. Take it or leave it.

Hi there guys, I hope I'm posting on the right thread. This is not a ripping request but more like a request for help.

I've been trying to rip the Xbox 360 version of the Guitar Hero: World Tour game. The .FSB.XEN files are apparently just regular encrypted FMOD FSB files. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a decrypted sample here or not, so I won't do it now. The problem is that apparently ToWAV doesn't support Multichannel XMA files (can anyone here confirm that?), here are the results of my tests:

- FSBEXT extracts the multichannel XMA files from the decrypted FSB files, but without their headers, of course.
- The decrypted FSB files don't work with ToWAV.
- ToWAV doesn't convert the headerless XMA multichannel files.
- ToWAV converts the XMA files if I paste a normal XMA header in the files. However, as you can imagine, all you can hear is the whole thing in splices because it didn't interleave the packets.

Could anyone please help me with this? Anyone got any ideas? Do you know another game that uses Multichannel XMA files and has the headers intact? May I post a decrypted sample? Thanks.

Kataah@VGM_Legacy
07-13-2009, 06:32 PM
lol yeah that is my problem too - looking for multichannel xma headers too ;)
Upload a few tracks - i will take a look

Fred_PJ
07-13-2009, 07:10 PM
Lol ok, I see, thanks. But I wonder if even with multichannel XMA headers it will work with ToWAV... I doubt it.

Here's a link to the decrypted Nirvana - "About a Girl" files:
http://www.mediafire.com/?zyzzm1mt1mv

The first file seems to have the drums, the second file the vocals and the bass, the third file seems to have the guitar and the crowd chant.

Kataah@VGM_Legacy
07-13-2009, 08:26 PM
Yeah its a multichannel problem. The decoder can handle this fsb4 containers but the channels are the main problem (Offset 6E). I have tried a few headers but no one works. Like you i need working multichannel headers - maybe it can work if the interleaving between the channels is always constant but i dont know. If the interleaving is not constant then i dont know if it is possible to get the music out of such files especially when the track is completely headerless

... deserve to be listened to in their highest quality!
Yes they deserve it - but we CAN'T listen to the highest quality since XMA is already lossy. So there's no need to upload these scores in 'lossless lossy'. I'd agree if it were audio tracks, but not a re-encoding of an already lossy format. Would make as much sense as providing FLAC support for tracks that originally were MP3 128 kbps.

Damn, I really need to open this thread I've planned quite a time now!

Here's a bigger update this time! High FIVE... ;)
BTW: The AT3 versions of my rips (available on PSP Frenzy) contain all the loop markers to create own versions of the tracks. You'll need Sony SoundForge to edit them.

How is XMA lossy?
You're joking, right? You honestly think XMA is lossless? That's just shocking!

OrangeC
07-14-2009, 12:28 PM
Well i think it depends on the actual music in the xma, cuz still even though xma is high compression rates we dont know the max bitrate of an xma track, its most technically a container for audio that is processed through the cpu in the 360 and is actually decoded.

Cuz like i said it depends on the acrual source music, some xma tracks can be lossy and some are lossless.

Yeah but it was not given as a playable codec. Its still XMA - You know, one way: XMA(lossy) to ogg(lossy). Second way: XMA(lossy) to Flac(lossless)

And dont forget many people want to re-encode these tracks.
But yeah XMA is a wma variation its lossy even in the lowest compression schemes.

btw nice update Orangec

Sorry, I'm really upset right now - but WTF? It's not a matter of the source audio! The codec itself is lossy and that's that! I can't believe we even have such a n00by conversation!
If we continue your statement, you'd transcode any lossy format to FLAC, for which there isn't any player or plugin to play it.
I don't want to refresh the whole discussion, it just upsets me for which reasons people request lossless versions of lossy formats (even reading this just stabs me in the eye...). "Better quality" is absolutely no reason. Prove me wrong.

I have never read a lossless request because someone wanted to transcode the tracks - only 'to have the maximum quality available'. Which is right, but useless if one keeps it in this format.
And to give some productive suggestion: provide the original XMA files (if the songs aren't segmented)! That's much more suggestive and saves a lot of space.
The result: N00bs who request FLAC because they think that they can hear the difference to OGG won't request anymore because they don't know how to transcode anyway. Thus, XMA will only be demanded by those who hopefully know the basics of audio formats. And of course, to be honest, I would have less stomaches. ;)

You can only guess Alpha23. I mean there are people who wants a score in a special codec and a Flac source is always the best source because its lossless and you decide which codec it should be. Raw XMAs? you know that the main work is not the extracting its looping editing - thats really time consuming and thats the quality here - we have not simple unedited raw tracks - we have complete listenable tracks in a great quality

Strange, through I listened to original gamerip FLAC or APE with Foobar a few times I always saw "decode to WAV" function in a program window (right click on a track and Convert)

PS. These weren`t your rips, just another games and sources which had no alternative for that ones...

Yeah, I know. Well, that puts it in some perspective. I can't really compare it to ATRAC because SoundForge lets you edit the lossy source. I know that the loop editing takes the most time.
Another very very important thing if we provide in lossless: set markers at the looping points! (I really like to stress that) The markers are kept in FLAC I think (at least in LA and TAK they are...) so everybody who requests lossless can make his/her own looped version. Else, it's very handy if you notice that a loop point was wrong and you need to re-edit the file. Also keep markers between segments if possible. To understand this better, download my Cube rip on PSP Frenzy and open one of the last nine files in SoundForge. It's really easy to change the number of repetitions of the single segments, change the fading length or fading method! =) I don't know right now, but is there an option to save looping points in OGG files somehow?
Else, we really need to discuss a CONSISTENT LOOPING PRACTICE! If we have rules already then we definitely should add precise instructions on how to loop. Every VGM Legacy member loops differently which really doesn't fit into the ideals of this group I think. That's a thing I've been concerned with for quite some time now.

I didn't want to hit on you - you know how to read my posts. =)
Take a note on my suggestion above about markers/looping points! To my shame I totally forgot it in Resistance Retribution till now! I'll just start from the beginning again...

Forgot to say: great work Alpha ;)

Now my update, this time with tha latest ogg encoder with aoTuVb5.7 (2009-03-04)

Viva Piata (Grant Kirkhope) - xbox360 153 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MPN5HSHP Part1
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A95L1M1N Part2
Great score - Flac Support - no tracknames given.
Its a nice classic/Jazz score sometimes typical party music too.
Anyway the classic tracks are really great

Viva Piata Party Animals (Cedar Jones, Gavin Parker...) - xbox360 77 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9AIXL847 Part1
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0BO0S9RH Part2
Flac Support - tracknames given.
Not as good as Viva Piata, mainly somehow Caribbean party music ;)

Viva Piata Trouble in Paradise (Grant Kirkhope) - xbox360 172 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=84NXDBNG Part1
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G3JE11X0 Part2
Great score - Flac Support - no tracknames given.
Many tracks from the original Viva Piata + more exclusic Trouble in Paradise tracks.
Am not sure if all tracks from the original game are in this rip too.
Dont want to compare over 100 tracks ;)
Anyway same music style as the original game

The Lost Crown A Ghosthunting Adventure (Darkling Room) 136 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1TATW1ZM
A very great dark score. Mainly dark ambient music - the bad thing is that many tracks have sfx layers in the background.
Its not speaking, more natural ambient sounds.

Batman Begins (Ian Livingstone) - ps2 117 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A7TOJI3M
Great score - Flac Support - no tracknames given.
Mainly orchestral music by Ian Livingstone sometimes some ambient tracks.
Hard rip - was a crap bigfile.

Light of Altair (Stefan Persson) 10 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W6XOYU5J
Electronic score - nothing special but not bad

Yu-Gi-Oh Tag Force Evolution (Konami) - ps2 43 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HY03LSLU
Was a request back then (yeah i do requests too;) ). Flac Support - was a very hard rip.
Bigfile was interleaved but the interleaving was not constant. There are beginning/ending/looping segments
before the main stream starts in the bigfile and these segements had different interleavings. Was not easy to figure that out.
Its a typical eastern score but with some nice experimental tracks

9th Company Roots of Terror (Danila Voroshilov) 9 Tracks

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DH6CVL9Q
Ethnic score - ambient tracks are great.

@Alpha23
Hmm "markers at the looping points" maybe for the flac scores - i will test a few things before because if you dont know exactly the looping point (thats very often) you get a click. I use then a clicking correction function at this point therefore i dont know if it is practically to let such looping points inside the track for other people

bye

Edit:
Am away this week - have a little trip - am back on monday ;)
