What do you mean "all of the Ultima’s from III thru VII"? Every version of those? These games were released on countless platforms.
If you have the Amiga version of Ultima IV, then yeah, I'd be interested in that.

AudioPanicRoom - Episode #049: Adlib Noraebang
A look at the Korean music scene of the 1990s. Drawing from an eclectic mix of influences ranging from arcade soundtracks to old K-pop and anime scores, it created an impressive catalog of music for the FM chips commonly found in PC sound cards of that era.

If you have the Amiga version of Ultima IV, then yeah, I'd be interested in that.
The Amiga version of Ultima IV has been requested a couple of times in this thread. The problem is that none of the Amiga archives has a working NTSC copy of the game. All the available cracks are based on the PAL version which plays the music too slow or (if you switch the emulator to NTSC) cause heavy distortion. It's otherwise a very simple rip that doesn't even require any hacking as the game plays the entire soundtrack on the title screen. So yeah, if you can find a working NTSC copy then I can do this rip for you.

I have the games on Apple II, Commodore 64, PC, and NES/SNES ripped. I don't think I can get Amiga given the emulation difficulties but I will attempt it. I'm working to track down all the remaining rips of them.

Prince of Persia
The last one is particularly big on my part. Prince of Persia, the original, never really had a soundtrack, but was a great game. I heard the FM-TOWNS version is one of the best.
What I posted above is the CD audio soundtrack. There are a few minor tracks that were done in FM (battle themes, some jingles) that are not included as I didn't have the time to extract them. However, the FM Towns release is based on the PC-98 port and all the assets from that version are actually included on the CD as a disk image. I compared a couple of the FM sound files and they are identical so if you download the PC-98 rip then you should be able to find the rest of the soundtrack there. I'm also not entirely sure who composed the CD soundtrack: the FM Towns credits say Hiroaki Iwatami and have T's Music in the 'Special Thanks' section. However, the PC Engine version (same soundtrack) credits the entire thing to T's Music and there are other sources that say it was composed by T's Music CEO Taro Hara.

Nothing is impossible to rip, it all depends on how much time and effort you want to put into it. I doubt there is much (or any) music in the 1983 version and you can probably record all the sfx by playing the game for 5 minutes in an emulator.

Here is something I have been working on for over a year now: a new up-to-date Hoot archive with support for over 5300 games from systems like the PC-88, PC-98, X6800, X1, MS-DOS, Mega Drive, MSX, and many arcade boards. The content was compiled from various sources and there is also a ton of new stuff that is not available anywhere else.
All of this has been fixed, updated, and is verified to work with the latest version of Hoot. Also included are translated XML files so you won't have to deal with titles and publisher names in Japanese. Please see the included readme.txt for details on how to install this archive.
You can download the entire set from archive.org (
https://archive.org/details/HootArchive20180626), be warned it's a fairly big download though (2.5 GB)
Enjoy!

Outrageous effort with THAT hoot archive! While I managed to set it up all properly one question remains: Is there any possibility to play all tracks from an album entirely instead of one by one manually clicking? Also if it's possible to pause, stop and skip if wanted?
Edit: Is it normal some tracks seem to be playing endlessly? Since there's no time display given I assume so.

Hoot is essentially a collection of emulators that run the original game code (i.e. sound driver) to play the music. As such it is limited by the constraints of the sound drivers which aren't necessarily made for timed playback and just loop the music endlessly. For many drivers you can stop the music by pressing 'P', but even that does not work in some cases.
When I record music from Hoot for the rips in this thread, I use a script that plays x minutes of each track. But I'm not sure if the script is suitable for pure listening as it would play x minutes even for a 5 second jingle. There is also some setup involved and the actual song lengths (including loops and fadeouts) have to be determined in an audio editor afterwards.

You can find the Crystal Rina soundtrack (OPN,MT32,GS) in the Hoot archive above, you just need to convert the tracks to .wav. There is even a new mt32sound.dll included that is based on the latest version of Munt.

You need to have these 3 files in your Hoot folder (where hoot.exe is), make sure that the file names are exactly like this:
MT32_CONTROL.ROM
MT32_PCM.ROM
mt32sound.dll
This should work, there is no other setup required. Also make sure you are listening the the version of the soundtrack that has "MT-32 Emulation" in the name. The regular MT-32 soundtrack uses one of your Windows MIDI devices which will sound wrong or might not produce any sound at all.

AudioPanicRoom - Episode #050: Moby
No, not that one. Frdric Motte aka Moby is a French composer who had his start in the Amiga demo scene and also composed a number of game soundtracks for companies like Coktel Vision, Atreid Concept, and Kalisto. This playlist features a selection of tracks from the early part of his career that draw from from a wide range of influences – from rock to funk to blues and jazz.

Championship Pool by Mindscape is said to have an MS-DOS version, but not sure if it exists or not. This isn't a request for ripping, but I'd like to see it ripped if it was found or if it exists.
But here are two requests:
Die Bahnwelt (X68000, Internal and Dreamblaster X2 MIDI versions)

Blue Wings: Special Airforce (X68000)
Thank you.

You can already get the FM version of Die Bahnwelt from the op. I can't do the other two as I don't own a Dreamblaster and Blue Wings doesn't seem to exist in any of the X68000 archives on the net. If you have a copy of this game then let me know, otherwise maybe pick something else.

I've got two requests for you, and one of them was the one that I was going to request the last time, but forgot what it was... until now!! :)
- Gaiflame (PC-98; I didn't know that a version of Gaiflame existed for the PC-98 (as well as a Sharp X1 version, which I will request on another dime), thinking that the game only came out for the PC Engine. Ah well, at least I learnt something new. Anyways, this was the one I was going to request previously had I remembered it in time, lol.)
- Han-Seimei Senki Andorogynus (PC-88; I've requested the MSX version before, so I thought it would be fitting to request the PC-88 version of this, too)

I had a look at my old backlogs. Some of the arcade games that were deemed too time-consuming back then, I have just added to Hoot. So if anybody still wants a game from this list then I could look into it. The "two picks per person" rule still applies though.
Blood Warrior / Ooedo Fight
D-con
Dead Angle
Dream Soccer '94
Hacha Mecha Fighter
Ashura Blaster
Baseball Stars : Be a Champ!
Cabal

May I have a little request myself?
Creating these rips is a very time-consuming task, so coming here with a request should really be the last resort after all other options have been exhausted. I don't appreciate looking for stuff that can be easily found on the net (or even this very website) and you shouldn't ask for a rip unless you have spent at least half an hour trying to find the soundtrack yourself. And while you are at it, try to make sure that the game is available on the net and can be emulated. Not doing this basic homework results in significant overhead for me, and that's time I would rather spend on something else - like creating new rips.

I don't know if I should request anything, since I want to give you time to relax, do your own work and everything else, nx666. I know I want to request Crystal Rinal: Ouma no Meikyuu using the SC-88 and MT-32, but as of right now, I don't know since I want to give you time to recuperate and relax.

Okay, Keeper for X68000 is okay. Hmmm.
Perhaps ripping Ashura Blaster arcade is a must. But don't use the incomplete VGMrips files. They are missing "RESTART" (theme that starts in the beginning of Stage 2 and later levels) and maybe if there are any, unused tracks. Thanks for letting me know what's been done and what's too difficult. Composer is likely Hidetoshi Fukumori, which people say he did Gun Frontier by Taito, but credits say "Sound Director: YACK, OGR", which they are Yasuhisa "Yack." Watanabe and Hisayoshi "OGR" Ogura. VGMrips and VGMdb must correct this.

Do you know if the PC-98 port even has any music? I just tried a couple of different disk images and they produce no sound. That's not uncommon, as in 1987 very few PC-98 users had sound cards, but maybe I'm just missing a hidden setup somewhere. At this point all I could offer is a rip of the PC-88 version.

Thank you very much, nx666, for ripping such excellent soundtracks for the past couple of years. The sound hardware of these boards is not emulated in M1 or Hoot so recording the music via MAME is currently the only viable option and that would require a lot of manual work. Have you had a chance to listen to the new Hoot archive I posted a while back? It has a ton of great arcade soundtracks that are pretty obscure and have probably never been ripped by anybody on this forum.

A fun fact I learned about "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: The Coin-Op!" while doing some research for a TMNT episode I did a while back: Aside from the title theme, Jeroen Tel was asked to create all the in-game music using just one sound channel on the SID chip. The others were needed for sound effects. He did a pretty good job with a huge limitation like that!

Haven't been able to due to busy life concerns, but surely I will as soon as I have enough comfortable free time and if it really will be easier than how complicated Hoot is in assembling it. VGM logging or exporting for VGMrips might make it even better if it has it.

Yeah, pretty amazing what you can do with one SID voice. He did a few of those, all the in-game music from Hawkeye also only uses one sound channel and (I think) this is also the case for some of the Robocop 3 tracks.

I'll take D-Con and Seibu Cup Soccer for request.
After finishing the D-Con rip, I realized that the latest builds of MAME play the music slightly faster than either M1 or Hoot (which I used for the recording). Looking at the MAME sources, there seems to be some guesswork involved regarding the clock rate of the sound CPU, which means current MAME doesn't necessarily play the music at the correct speed either. I don't have time for a MAME rip right now (or for creating a new build of M1), but I uploaded the soundtrack with the slower tempo here (

Thank you for your rip of Seibu Cup Soccer. It sounds a bit better and tagged better than ruiner9's rip. As for D-Con ripping, hopefully someone knows how the original PCB properly sounds.

If requests ever open again, perhaps we could get the MSX versions of Dragon Quest I and II and Final Fantasy II. I would be very interested to see the arrangements of those classics sometime. Again, not requesting now, but something to think about. I have FFI for MSX and it sounds beautiful.

Sorry, I can't work on requests right now, mostly because I think it's time to do something for myself for a change :) This is all from games developed by the Dutch MSX scene of the 90s which feature some of the most impressive soundtracks on that system. Pumpkin Adventure 3 is probably my pick of the bunch, but you can't really go wrong with any of them.

I understand- the Dutch can work wonders with the system- that is why I was going to request Ducktales for the MSX since it was a good Runemaster clone with music that uses the YM2413 quite well. But I didn't know you didn't want anymore requests, so my own error. I was also going to suggest those soundtracks as well! You must've read my mind or something, because those soundtracks really pushed the MSX to its limits. Even the Spanish demo artists like the ones who recently did Life on Mars and Life on Earth did a great job.

AudioPanicRoom - Episode #051: Streets of Rage
During the late 80s new genres of electronic music like house and techno were hitting the mainstream. These styles were also adopted by game composers and demo artists and became an ingredient of many soundtracks of the following decade. This podcast features a selection of tracks inspired by club music of that era arranged for contemporary FM sound hardware.

Man, what sad news. :/ He's one of my favorite composers from the C64 era... Last Ninja, Cobra, Terramex, Deflektor, Future Knight, Switchblade, Firelord... So many great soundtracks of his I've enjoyed during the years. RIP, and thanks for the music, Ben!

Yeah that's pretty sad. I grew up with his music and he was also one of the first composers I knew by name. I have a ton of nostalgia for his tunes, often in weird context, like this early demo that featured his music (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PVFMVRla6Y) (apologies for the bad quality, but that's the only video of it I could find). Come to think of it, I haven't posted much of his music outside of the more well-known C64 soundtracks. He did a ton of stuff on other systems like the Atari ST or Spectrum and there is also a pretty interesting port of Deflektor for the X68000 with his music arranged by Goblin Sound.

I haven't had much time for new rips lately, the four C64 soundtracks above only had six tracks and even that took me more than a week. These European MSX games are surprisingly difficult to find and the music files that are available for some of them (kss format) often use incorrect sound drivers. For the FM versions of the soundtracks I posted here, I actually had to extract the sound files + drivers myself to be able to record the music. I'm not a huge MSX expert and I ended up spending an entire (rainy) weekend on that. I think most of the PSG soundtracks you mentioned are playable in Hoot though.
Sharrif001
10-05-2018, 01:08 AM
Really? I didn't know Goblin Sound had a interest in doing a soundtrack for a UK made game with his music.
Figures. Sorry, but PSG will not cut it with me since all it is is a beeper. It has to be FM using the YM2413.
Dang, I don't know what else I CAN request from you since I can't find those games and the people who programmed Hoot can't seem to get the MSX drivers to work.
I guess I might as well give up.

Deflektor for the X68000 was published by Bullet-Proof Software, a company with a business model centered on bringing Western games to Japan. Tetris probably being the best-known example from their catalog.

Boy, Goblin Sound did a good job converting Daglish's soundtrack for the X68000. It is interesting that some Non-Japanese made games did make it on the Japanese computers, mainly because they reprogrammed them, as well as on their consoles back in the day. If Japan still reprogrammed American made games for their consoles, I bet they would be better. For example, Bethesda made Fallout for the PCs- what if the Japanese reprogram the game for their consoles and not the X-Box, (mainly because that system doesn't sell well in Japan).
OK. I can listen to those. I still wish I can get Seed of Dragon though.
Sharrif001
10-05-2018, 07:20 PM
So was Starcraft and Pony Canyon. Those 3 - BPS and Starcraft and Pony Canyon are the companies that mostly reprogrammed Western made games and made them more suitable for the Japanese, and I am glad they did this. Now, if only they did that for all of the Lucasarts games (including Sam and Max) and other Western made games and also reprogram them for consoles...
But I digress. The only one I can really request right now is Enforce for the arcade, one of Taito's arcade games.

Hmmm. Most likely it's a trial version. Full version might be on DL Site or somewhere similar.

I'm going to take a small break from requests so I can post some stuff from my own backlogs. First up is the DOS version of Jim Power, which features pretty good Soundblaster arrangements of the original SNES music. The other two games have short, but expertly arranged soundtracks by Shogoon that sound like a weird mix of industrial and classical music.

I think I said this before, but anything MSX-related that I haven't added to Hoot at this point (check the latest archive) or that doesn't exist as a standalone .kss file requires some serious work. There is a long list of pretty awesome MSX soundtracks that I want to rip for myself that I had to put on hold for the same reason.

I see... I probably won't ask for anything for a long while. That way, you can get all of the rest you need. Hopefully someone out there figures out a way to convert MSX music to .kss in an easier way instead of rooting through the game's code.

Hi nx666, I just noticed that your rip of Metal Force (PC-9801) has Stage 4 (PC-9801-86) track (and maybe others in same rip) having some sound channels cut off after first loop.
I also compared your rip of Valist Leznalt (X68000) to these two legitimate videos and even existing .MDX files and yours seems to speed up in tempo in Stage 1 (if not, others in whole rip). This is just to notify you. d(^_^ )

https://youtu.be/Txvv_61w8qI
Really? So Kageyama left Sunsoft after he did Gimmick!? Dang. Sunsoft really didn't want to be famous. If they solely developed the licensed games like Batman, Looney Tunes, and some Cartoon Network franchises and Superman, instead of solely focusing on the lousy good-for-nothing Majonng games, then Sunsoft would still be alive today. And if Naoki Kodaka, Shinichi Seya, Atsushi Mihiro (PHASE OUT) and Masashi Kageyama never left the company, then they would be famous up to par with Capcom or other famous 3rd party companies. You see, that is why the 1990s and 2000s and nowadays are a terrible time for licensed games- because no one wanted talented Japanese companies to publish and develop licensed games.
This is a list of who should've done them back in the day:
1. Disney games- Capcom
2. Nickelodeon games- Taito
3. Cartoon Network games- Sunsoft
4. WB/DC Comics franchises- Konami
1983parrothead
11-25-2018, 06:20 PM
Seems like people forgot Sunsoft's early arcades, including Kangaroo that even got a Saturday Supercade segment during Season 2.
Sharrif001
11-26-2018, 01:03 AM
Yep. No one wanted to give Sunsoft any honor and neither towards Nichibutsu. They always gave it to SEGA, Capcom and Konami. It seems like Kozure Okami for the arcade Die Hard for the PC Engine in Japan are the only licensed games Nichibutsu developed. I wish they kept making good games instead of focusing on strip majonng games.
1983parrothead
11-26-2018, 04:14 AM
Die Hard was developed by Pack-In-Video. Nichibutsu only published it.
Data East looked like it had a sad life as well. Most Americans only remembered...
* BurgerTime (especially Midway style with no mustache than Japan and Europe style with mustache)
* Bad Dudes VS. DragonNinja (plot and comparing it to Double Dragon by former-Data East employees Technos Japan, which it actually resembles Rolling Thunder and especially Shinobi)
* Caveman Ninja/Joe & Mac
* Karnov (criticizing him as a Mario wannabe)
* Fighter's History series (when name is mentioned simply as "Fighter's History", gamers look it up and see Mikado tournaments of the epitome "Fighter's History Dynamite" and blame it on that for beating Capcom in court case, which the first arcade was the actual one. One source Wikipedia linked it to was about the North American Data East and Capcom branches than entirely, while Gamest said Data East objected that Karate Champ predated Street Fighter 1 by 3 years. See also this:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_East_USA,_Inc._v._Epyx,_Inc. )
Meanwhile in Japan, they mention way more video games by Data East than Americans, including ones in Data East X Sunsoft fan video:

11-28-2018, 04:10 AM
Actually it was the other way around. Pack-In Video published the game. Kenji Yoshida, who did the soundtrack for Die Hard on the PC Engine worked for Nichibutsu. That's too bad. At least you and I actually respect these unknown game companies, while everyone chooses to be a fool and not respect them. At least Karnov and all of the other games that tried to copy Mario are better than Nintendo's creation and mascot. I cannot state my reason or reasons as to why I cannot stand his games, mainly due to the fact that many people love them and see him as like the "Jesus Christ" that rebooted the game industry and I don't want to offend no one. My personal favorite from Nichibutsu would have to be this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmNebN-V5wY
And there is something else that is special that I have found- This is a video of a unreleased and cancelled videogame set to be released by Nichibutsu for the Famicom in 1990. Honestly, I do not know why they cancelled it, but I love Kenji Yoshida's compositions for the company (mainly because of Die Hard and Cosmo Police Galivan):

Fascinating videos and info!
I noticed that there are three Yoshida composers of Nichibutsu: Noboru Yoshida (Terra Force), Takeshi Yoshida (Ghost Ninpoucho, ThunderForce AC, ThunderForce IV), and Kenji Yoshida (various).
Some former Nichibutsu employees later founded Woodplace Inc. (Ring King, Fire Trap, Mission 660, The Deep, Clash-Road), while some moved to other companies including Hudson(?), Make Software and Graphic Research.
Sharrif001
11-28-2018, 07:05 PM
Thanks! I didn't know Takeshi Yoshida left Nichibutsu to work at TecnoSoft! :D
Yeah, Make Software made Terra Cresta II for Nichibutsu.
I just wish Nichibutsu never quit making games and focused only on the dirty pornographic Strip Majonng games, as well as their lack of imagination and wanting to quit making games. Now THAT was their true downfall.

I couldn't find a disk image for Death Ephemera and Damage Fight 2 requires a PCM set that I had to build from scratch. There are no videos that I could use to check if this was done correctly, it sounds ok to me though.
OK. Anyway, thanks for the uploads! :D
I have 3 that I found that are non-erotic:

2. Urgent Mission (C) 1992 Masterpiece- Game Intro:

Just a heads-up, I will do one final round of requests for this year so if you have any, please submit them
Perfect timing! As it so happens I've arrived at the very end of my Amiga wish-list and have just one batch of requests left. Last Amiga requests:
Universe
Whizz
XTreme Racing
Thanks. :)

Just a heads-up, I will do one final round of requests for this year so if you have any, please submit them (3 max.) by the end of next week. Also, I'm moving in January and won't have access to the computer I use for audio editing so this will be your last chance for a while.
Just one, Lune Densetsu/The Legend of Lune: Jikuu no Kanata / リューヌ伝説 ~時空の彼方~
No worries if it's very difficult to find the disk image/audio files for it.

I'm still working on Universe, although I probably won't have the time to tag the game (70+ tracks). I couldn't do Urgent Mission and Champion Baseball as these two games require a lot of manual work/hacking.

70+ tracks?! Wow, had no idea it was so expansive. I watched a longplay of it a few months ago, and from what I remember there were like 10 - 15 tracks heard, tops. I wonder if there's a lot of music that only appears in certain contexts, or a lot of unreleased/unused stuff? Or maybe ambient sounds or something like that. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to help that much with the tags outside of what could be seen in a longplay video. I hope you'll still post this soundtrack though, as it does have some stellar tracks.

From what I've seen so far, many tracks have multiple variations (e.g. a different intro) but it's actually easier just to include them as a comparative listen would definitely take longer. I'm also not sure if the tags can be based on the DOS version (already in the OP), which was also done by Martin Iveson.

I've only heard the Amiga version of Scramble Spirits, which I think is pretty good. It was converted by Matt Furniss, who usually does a great job. If you're interested in hearing it it's available in the Amiga section in this thread.
Haven't heard much of Kyd's stuff on the older systems. I think he mostly did demos for the Amiga, not soundtracks (but I could be wrong). Of his older stuff the ones I've listened to the most are his Mega Drive/Genesis works (AWS Pro Moves Soccer, Red Zone, Sub-terrania, The Adventures of Batman and Robin), which I really like, although perhaps only in small doses. The tracks tend to be veeeeery long and grating after a while, so I really have to be in the right mood to be able to listen to them.

OK, so what I can do at the moment is very limited as I still haven't moved the pc that has all the emulators, sound players, and most music libraries. However, I started to create new Hoot sets (there has been a new release a couple of weeks ago) and I do have access to the entire archive so anything that can be played by Hoot is fair game (except MIDI soundtracks). Requests for other systems will have to wait until later.

Afaik, he only did one Amiga soundtrack (his first ever) - USS John Young, which you can get from the OP. He composed a ton of demo music for the Amiga though, you can find these tracks here (

And, as a little bonus, some new PC-98 soundtracks that I had lying around unfinished for quite a while.

OK. I didn't like Kyrandia's soundtrack very much, even with Takeshi Abo's conversion, the original composer, Frank Klepacki didn't do a good job with that one. Sorry. So, how do you create new sets? Do you have to have the original disk?

I was actually talking about Kyrandia 2, although chances are you might not like that one either.
Creating new sets from scratch usually involves three steps, and yes, you need a copy of the game, although a working disk image is usually sufficient. First, you have to isolate the sound driver and all music data. Sometimes these files are just lying around on the disk, but often they are compressed, encrypted, or part of bigger archives so you need to find a way around that. Once that is done you have to figure out how the sound driver is used by the game. Typically there are at least two hooks: one to initialize songs and one to update the music and that second one is usually tied to an interrupt or timer. This task requires the use of a debugger and some basic understanding of the system's architecture and machine code. The third step involves writing a small program (typically in assembler) that basically serves as a link between the Hoot interface and the game code (sound driver) that is running in a emulator.
However, there are a lot of cases where you can reuse parts of existing sets, e.g. if two games use the same sound driver. There are also some emulators (e.g. all arcade games) for which Hoot already provides all the necessary hooks so all you have to do is map the roms to memory addresses and configure a few settings. While that is much easier than the other approach, it's also much more limited so if a game doesn't work there is not much you can do about it.
Does that registration thingy for Hoot still work? Is it safe? I would like to rip some arcade soundtracks, but they only play for one minute before stopping.
It should still work, but the site often just gives an error. Just use a throwaway email address if you have security concerns. And in case you still have an expired registration key, you can cheat by rewinding the system date before you start Hoot. Hoot only checks the key once on startup so you can immediately change the date back and it will work until you close the application.

I think the reason why Hoot's registration service doesn't work anymore is because the latest version of Hoot doesn't require the key at all, something you may want to keep in mind if you ever plan to update your Hoot archives.

I don't think Pony Canyon has ever converted those D&D games for the PC98 or PC88, did they?

I haven't had much time for new rips, but the good news is that I have my computer back so you can requests music from other (non-Hoot) systems again. Except Midi recordings, as I still need to unpack/set up these devices.

Do you know if these ports have any music other than the title track? I don't have sound files for these games, but if its only that one track then I could easily get it with an emulator.
I think the reason why Hoot's registration service doesn't work anymore is because the latest version of Hoot doesn't require the key at all, something you may want to keep in mind if you ever plan to update your Hoot archives.
All I can say right now is that there will be an update to the archive at some point. There is some new stuff that can be done with the lastest Hoot version and I also have some leftovers from last year's update, but all of that will take some time to sort out.

All of them pretty short, but they pack a considerable punch!

The only soundtracks I currently have in the queue for you are Sword Quest and Lands of Lore. Sword Quest has 111 tracks, I did the recording with a script which ran for about 11 hours yesterday. Needless to say that it will take a while to edit all that stuff...

Well I did some research on the Savage Frontier games and it appears they are only playable through PC Speaker. It was a shot in the dark to get them but sadly they have no soundtracks to speak of. I would, in that case, like to change the request in that case to Might & Magic V: Dark Side of Xeen in any format on MS-DOS PC.
I’m also seeking the original Bard’s Tale trilogy on Apple II.

I wonder how exactly did Japanese gamers rip and upload FM-7 soundtracks even by making fanmade FM-7 versions of game music from other platforms?
But anyway nx666, here are three more requests if you are welcome to rip any:
* Cynthia (X68000, OPM version in V1 and V2 to include with V2 MIDI version you already ripped. Here are both versions in comparison:
https://youtu.be/tJW-WkeGSEc )
* Examinator (PC, this was composed by Yasuhito Saito of db-SOFT and Data West games. Developed by MAGI.)
* OverDriver (X68000)
Thank you.

I just had a look and there are three different MIDI soundtracks: MT-32+FM, MT+32+FM (but uses the MT-32 for percussion only) and General MIDI. The game is from 1992 so the GM version was probably composed with something like a SC-55 in mind (the SC-8850 and MU2000 were both released much later). If you just want to know what the music in combination with a modern sound font sounds like then you can easily do that with the MIDI files from the Hoot set (or the game disk) - they should work as is in any modern MIDI player.

Why wouldn't that be possible? It's just another computer and it probably "only" takes some time and dedication to extract the music. There are also some FM7 games that work in Hoot.

It seems so. I communicated with nx666 over PM a few months ago, and he said he was very busy with other stuff but that he was planning on posting an update eventually. But I guess he got tired of the thread and the constant requests and decided to move on. Can't say I blame him as he's put in a lot of work on it over the years. Damn- I guess it is my fault. I can't blame him for wanting to quit though. He was the only one that can do music from Hoot, and he was the only one that did soundtracks for Japanese PCs.

Sorry, I haven't been here for a while and missed these last few comments. I worked mostly from home these past few years so it was relatively easy to do some rips on the side, but now that I have a 9-5 office job it turned out to be pretty difficult to fit a project like this into my schedule. I don't plan to close this thread and the downloads will stay online as well, it's just that I currently don't have much time for new rips/recordings and that's probably not going to change anytime soon. I have been working on a new Hoot set though, but that is also coming along really slow. As for the podcast, I decided to take a break at the beginning of this year but that turned out a bit longer than originally anticipated. The podcast is definitely coming back at some point though.
If anybody wants to pick up where I left and work on new soundtracks then let me know. I'm always happy to share information/resources/tools or anything else I have created for this thread.
