In the news here, some apartment complexes have had their mail broken into.
Either by force or with a key from the post office.

how they got the key? they probably know someone who has access to keys and stole them.

During Christmas season, stealing mail would be a prime season as more and more sales take place to ensure marketing.

If anyone else has lost their mail, it's a good sign that someone or multiple someones have been stealing out of convenience.

Actually, regarding mail theivery, one of the solutions being incorperated into the system is to set up "mail bait", much like they set up cars as "car bait" for carjackers.

The idea is to put random packages with a tracking device into suspecting or known mailboxes that have been targeted.

I wonder if there's a service where you can purchase a tracking device and have it enabled before it's shipped out where you can log into a site and track it as it moves.
See how it travels from station to station as it's delivered.

The school should order some on random dates and see what happens.

Feeling happy, good news! I think I may have been lucky and I may not need to pay customs at all. Because today, according to the shipping, in the afternoon, the package left customs and was being sent.. usually, when your package is stuck in customs and you need to pay, the package stays stuck in customs up until you get a notification, send out payment, etc. There's the possibility that they may have arranged for me to pay when it's delievered, but I kinda doubt that, as it needs a lot of paperwork. Just in case, when the package is delivered I'll have money at hand.

Feeling a bit sick.

So....life has been shit.

The continuing story of my father's tumor isn't particularly appealing. While they did manage to remove a significant chunk of it, parts of it are still there and growing. It doesn't help that it's a type of tumor that has to be obscure enough, since it baffles the doctors (hence the amount of time taken). At the moment, they're giving a subtle form of chemotherapy (radiation) to try and drive the rest of it out.

At the moment, he's at home, where we try to deal with him the best we can. It's clear the tumor has really affected his thinking, since it's often hard to understand what he's trying to say (he forgot what a toothbrush was, after all). Plus, his mood can take quite a swing at points, with him wanting a thing, yet being frustrated when it happens. Still, he seems pretty keen on the fact that I'm still here, pretty safe and sound.

My mother, bless her, has become too attached to the situation. In her many stays at the hospital when dad was there, many of my needs had to either be delayed or just ignored. I'm aware that being that she knows this man for nearly her entire life that it would be of most importance to keep him alive. However, me, my siblings, and other family are equally important. Being too into the situation wouldn't be healthy if things get worse. I just hope things are better balanced.

Because neither of my parents are not working, the financial status is rougher. Other people have been paying for the bills, meaning much less to anything else. This is especially apparent in the groceries, since we no longer go to the market as we frequently have. Thus, it's always just people buying fast food to compensate for the lack of cooking.

Then there's also my health. Since we're always buying junk food now, I've certainly increased in weight. While I've been wanting to walk more, the insane coldness has really put me off. Thus, here I am, feeling more heavier than before.

Then we have the sleep, which has admittedly been a problem for years. For whatever reason, I can never feel convinced to sleep on time. I just end up sleeping really late and wake up really tired all the time. My addiction to certain things do not help. I honestly don't know how to stop it.

Then there's the rest of my family. My sister in law has to have surgery tomorrow, due to some rocks in her system that has resulted from eating to much grease. Then there's my sister and brother, who I never really see, due to working for further money for the family. Same goes for my two aunts, who now work much later than usual. Then there's all the damn family visits, which has annoyed me to hell.

And lastly, my perception of emotion, which as you've seen, hasn't been the best.

I just don't know what else to say.

It's a rough curveball you've been thrown...
It's hard to stay motivated in a situation like this because there's no cutoff date; you have no idea what the ultimate outcome will be or when. That can really hurt morale.
But it looks like you're blessed with a pretty tight-knit family, tirelessly supportive of each other. That's invaluable for a hard time like this. Seems the best you can do is keep your strength up for your dad's sake, if not your own as well. Once you and your family get over this hump, things will start to get easier.

I'm sorry to have written what I did minutes after I had posted the first post. I admit to impatience whilst being tired. I should've let it have the time to have it stick.

I feel grateful for what you guys say. It's pretty clear that thanks to my family, I'm still in a better place than others. It would've been far worse had no one been as optimistic as they were. I feel the best I can do is just live life normally and be more accepting of things. My dad would probably want that, no matter how things will go. With the two weeks I have off, I have plenty of time think about things and do stuff.

Those auto updates suck mongo dick, and it's why I switched to Foobar with little to no regret pretty much immediately after getting a PC. If there's an update to that software, I am responsible for it; the software does not sneakily install an update without any permissions. It's such a shitty way to treat customers, but I guess Apple users are used to being mistreated.

Today's reason for despising Apple is because of their gay-ass "Photos" app, which replaced the much more intuitive "iPhoto".

My mom wanted to make a copy of all our photos and videos to an external hard drive, so after a very painful ordeal we figured out how to get the program to clank into action and do it.

Unfortunately Apple has embraced the fact that their target demographics are old grandmas who think the computer runs on gasoline, and young Starbucks addicts who need their asses wiped for them at all times. Because rather than copy the files bit-by-bit, which is what I expected and maybe even told it to do, videos were sneakily converted without my permission from MOV to MP4. All metadata is missing in the copies. That means we know fuck-all about when the videos were recorded.

Thankfully we have MOST of the videos still on the original computer in .mov, as well as an old Time Machine backup. Here's another other thing I hate about Apple and how unintelligent their design teams are: instead of programs reading individual files, which is the right way to do it, the Time Machine backup has all that iPhoto data encasulated as one iPhoto library. That means the new "Photos" app can't read a single fucking byte.

I can go in and search manually within the library for files but it's a huge time-waster.
Trying to find info on how to rectify any problem is a huge hassle as well because "Photos" is the blandest name imaginable.
Mediocrity is Apple's motto. Their other motto is to disregard what's proven in the name of what's shinier. That second one was a huge factor in Steve Jobs's life, I'm sure.

The only thing worse than a recent Apple OS is anything past Windows XP, but that's another story.

In Windows 10 the start menu has been changed into a hub which serves the most base, lowest-common-denominator news, games, information, etc.

I know I'll sound like a pretentious hipster by saying this, but the second something goes mainstream, it takes a turn for the worst.

As a long-standing Apple user I'm appalled by the devolution of the brand since the company dove head first into the mobile market. My hype for the Switch has gone from "where do I have to sign to sell my soul" levels to "fuck you and your whole family" now. Literally if it wasn't for fucking Zelda, Switch would be another damn Wii U. Quick ports don't cut it.

Not to mention how they're being way too confident (obviously Zelda sells the console..) and putting horrible prices for everything. The console. 299.99. Without counting the game you HAVE to buy because no game comes with the Switch. The game can be around 50 dollars. So you end up buying the fucking Switch for 350 dollars or so. Not to mention the accesories. Not to mention the online play. Not to mention the fact that the console's specs are literally those of a tablet you can find for .. maybe half the price? You can even find a better performing, more powerful Snapdragon chip for the same price in fucking phones.

Why are people forgeting that you won't actually pay 299.99 dollars for the Switch, but 350, because you'll have to get a game for it, which doesn't comes bundled, and if it did, it'd coast 350.

Why are people forgetting that a demo game for the Switch's Joy-Cons, that is gonna get old quick, is also getting sold separatedly at fucking 49.99 dollars instead of coming bundled with the Switch free to test the console. Nintendo is being too confident in themselves and have done some terrible decissions while at it.. Let's not forget that my fucking phone which was 350 euros has a chip that is double the power than the Switch's.

I remember the Wii came out and it was like $250, I think? And you could get it bundled with Wii Sports, which may have cost a tad more.
I know the value of currency has changed in the decade since the Wii, but it's still asking a lot from customers still fuming from the poor showing that was the Wii U.

It's just the money that's gotten my hype so down. They want you to pay double than what the machine's worth and STILL pay for online.

My current feeling: How the hell is it that people can be so critical of certain things, and yet I'm fine with what they're having issues with? Also, I was joking about the whole money thing. I get why someone would consider it unfair for the price would be the way it is, considering the previous console. However, it is a portable home console, which probably has more costs put into it than what was just a home console before. Thus, I'm not really complaining, since I at least am more considerate on how the thing is made.

The only thing raising the price is the Wiimote 2.0 that is the Joy-con, because it has some sort of advanced rumble. The tech inside the Switch, you can find Nvidia offering it to you at 199.99

He had a tumor in his head that came out of nowhere. He's been a mess since and is in recovery. I neglected to explain everything because everyone else already knew, so I just posted a vaguer thought about it.

How's he recovering? I hope he's doing all right.

He's been doing fine. Every day, he has therapists that visit him assist with his speech and walking. His right arm and foot are still immovable, but that could possibly change eventually. He's been more and more emotive and respondent. So even though the changes have been slow, it seems to be more looking up than anything else.

However, there was a weird thing that happened that left me feeling bad. Essentially, I often have a really bad habit of doing my homework really late, often right before I'm supposed to go to sleep. Before, my Dad would just yell at me and it would be a repeating cycle at certain points. In this week, when he found out I was doing an assignment (that had been overdue for a while) right when I should've been in bed, he became a wreck. He's clearly trying to channel what he used to do, but because his head is a bit of a mess, he just couldn't. Thus, he sounded very furiously incomprehensible before he started to cry. Considering how used I am to the man being so straight faced as he is, it was an incredibly bizarre experience. I just put my stuff away and went to my room, after my mom told me how such an event like that could really mess him up if it continued and that I needed to be cautious. It really made me want to re-consider the way I think, but I know that'll take a while.

Not a bad idea. You start a new habit which will be good for your future, he'll see some change that he'll enjoy, and even if it dosen't cure anything, this are small things we can do to increase life.

It helps my main family never does any of that stuff. Still, I'd be scared what that would do to my body, from the way I behave to health effects. I'm in shock and I'm sad.

I got to work today about 5 min after I usually do. Alex was already there, he had just punched in. I punch in and we start getting ready for the kids for the day. From my seat at our table in the cafeteria, I see the boss approaching the school entrance. I said to Alex, "shit, Andy's here, Andy's here" (we didn't have our name tags on, God forbid). So we put them on and greeted him as he came in. He said, "can I talk to you guys for a sec?" and we went the the back blue table where the 4th/5th grade girls sit. Alex and I stare at each other like "shit, wut did we do". He drops the bomb and says to us, "I just wanted to update you guys: Lorraine passed away last night". Lorraine as in our coworker, one of the other counselors. My jaw dropped and I said "Lorraine who?!", cause clearly it couldn't have been our Lorraine. And he just looked at me and answered, "Lorraine".

I couldn't believe it. Nobody has any details. Just that her husband called Jen (our site director) this afternoon to tell her. She was a lifelong smoker and her sister died last week, so I'm thinking it may have something to do with one of them. She wasn't old, she was still in her 60's. We last saw her on Friday, and everything was fine. I assumed we'd be seeing her on Monday but she called in. So Friday was the last time I saw her.

She was funny, sarcastic, and great with the kids. Alex and I being the 2 Trump supporters and her being the Hillary supporter would always make comments at each other and pass barbs back-and-forth. We'd insult her, she'd insult us, then we'd all laugh about it. And we'd have discussions about each other's opinions and get real in depth. It was nice. Last week I was gonna buy her a bottle of Trumpeter, it's a Malbec. I knew she'd have a good laugh at it and call me an ass like she always would.

Now tomorrow, Jen, Sarah and Sally are gonna split with the girls and Alex and I are gonna split with the boys and break the news to them and talk to them about it. I'm dreading it, I've never had to do this before. Some I know will cry for sure, some will be ok about it. I'm just hoping the sight of seeing them cry won't make me cry. She has a son, daughter-in-law and grandson down in the city. I can't imagine what they're going through right now.

TL;DR: my coworker passed away last night and tomorrow I have to tell the kids about it.

Struggling as always in loneliness as my always rising social disorders keep me from having a "normal life" and friends, plus i kinda hoped the Ghost in the Shell Live-Action wasn't a total fu**-up but it was.

I can't wait for GotG2 to cheer me up, that i'm completely sure it will be a huge hit, and let's hope Spider-Man Homecoming and Wonder Woman won't disappoint too, although the DCverse can't be saved at this point.

I'm hoping GotG will be just as fun as the first.
For WW, all I want is a fun first 20 minutes on Themyscira. Then I'll leave the theater because I know the rest won't be very good.

I hope they pull out a good superhero movie in a classic War Scenario, since it's not Snyder i'll give it a chance
