I've just finished watching Aishiteruze Baby. It was pretty good, and I liked the whole message behind the anime (as well as Yuzuyu-chan...SO CUTE!) but for some reason it didn't really hold me as well as some other anime. Usually I'll just marathon the whole series in a day or two, but this one I'd just watch a few episodes and then stop and do something else for a while. O.o strange.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig episodes 13 - 16, with my personal favourites out of those four being Make Up (13) and Poker Face (14), mainly because they focused on Paz and Saito, who never really got much development or any of their background shown in neither Manga, films or the first series of Stand Alone Complex.

I've just watched the first few episodes of Death Note. So far, it seems pretty swell, but I'm worried about its longevity. It's the kind of material I wouldn't expect to last longer than 13 episodes, but it looks like it'll probably run much longer. If it runs too long, I figure it'll almost definitely turn to utter crap.

thinginthetub
11-05-2006, 06:57 PM
DN is supposed to run for 37 episodes. I'm not sure if that means they'll include the Near and Mello arc or not. Hopefully not, because they're kind of boring. : ( Besides, we're at episode 5 and L is only JUST about to show his face, so I think they're only going to cover the first arc in the manga. Which makes me happy.

And speaking of which, I just watched episode 5. :3

Prak
11-05-2006, 07:30 PM
I saw something about it being 37 episodes, but I really hoped that wasn't accurate. Also, I have not read the manga, so I know nothing about the various arcs and would appreciate it if they remained unspoiled in case I do continue to follow the show.

Well, I went ahead and started reading the manga. I'm nearing the end of what GH has hosted (I have no clue whether that's actually the end or not), but mostly just on pure stubbornness. It did exactly what I was afraid it would do; lost sight of what made it so neat in the first place and forced the story onward when it should have been short and sweet.

Frankly, the only way I could possibly care about the anime at this point is if it is completely rewritten to end earlier and do so decisively.

So yeah, I'm working on the 1st GiG of Stand Alone Complex. It sucks because my 1st GiG is subbed and my 2nd GiG is dubbed. Not to mention how the first movie is dubbed and the Innocence isn't. It's quite the pain in the ass sometimes, but either way, GITS is always good.

nice. do you seed? ;)

i got a question for you.

is your macross zero complete? i started getting that one and stopped at ep 3 i think. and i have no idea if they made anymore.

also. i'm interested in your copy of my neighbor totoro.

i'd like more but you prolly wouldn't share. :( and sadly i don't have the time to watch entire series. or the patience to d/l. that's why i only like to d/l short 13 ep series, or ova's. that reminds me. i wanna get godannar. that looks like a good one. i do love me my fanservice. :D

i realized that half of everything i've d/led i havne't even finished seeing. it's not that i don't have time. i have all the time in the world. but i seem to spend it just killing hours online. i play games. but they are not productive games. they're time killing games like counter strike or an mmo. i don't know whats wrong with me. but.. i'm jelous that you were actually put in a situation where you could spend time watching anime. for some reasons, unless it comes out on anime on demand, i don't watch tv/anime anymore. ;_;

well anyway. i'm still jelous and i'm dying to know what you got under your hentai folder. hentai is definately something i do still actively bother to get even though i forget to finish d/ling regular anime. :p

Unfortunately I can't seed all of it. If it's something popular like Naruto which has thousands of seeds I tend to remove the torrent after it's downloaded. My net connection counts my uploads towards my usage. Something more obscure, yes I'll seed it 1:1 but if it's towards the end of the month and I'm nearing my limit I'll tend to stop the torrent until the next month. Majority of my stuff has been leeched off friends rather than downloaded through net (which is why I'm sending my spare 320GB external HDD to a friend to fill up)

Also I work in a video store and I've convinced the managers on an Anime section. Anything on my HDD that has the tag ( DVD ) means that I have it on DVD and more than likely have copied it from the store. Reason I put it up there is so that friends who view my list can see what I've got and ask for it.

Example of how I acquire my collection. Tonight at work a customer who I got into anime purchased Tenjho Tenge and Orphen on DVD (Box Sets) and he's given them to me to copy. If I get a series then I'll do the same for him :)

So now add Tenjho Tenge and Orphen to that list :D

Tact
04-03-2007, 08:09 PM
kewl. then in that case, i'll ask this of you instead.

;_; could you please tell me what programs you would swear by for the best ripping methods? ;________;

i struggle with this all the time. and it gives me headaches sometimes. so far my attempts are far from perfect. (at least when i try to re-burn the rip i made i always get the sound and video out of sync halfway through the movie) but they're perfect on the pc. i sometimes use magicdvdripper if the dvd is old enough to work with it. most new one's don't though so i got dvdfab. but i haven't found a crack for it and i don't like looking for serials or cracks anymore because those sites are full of shitty malware.

but in anycase. i'd still appreciate just knowing how many eps are in your macross zero folder so i can know if i have a completed series or if i am missing episodes. and I'm dying of curiosity of what titles you got under your hentai folder. :p

btw. what internet service do you have where you can find out what your limits are? do i have limites? i've never come across them i think. i should prolly try it out one day. so it's like you got a quota/limit or something? man that suxors. ah well.

stenchlord
04-04-2007, 01:13 AM
For ripping and burning DVDs I use a program called DVD shrink. Due to most DVDs being Dual Layer and DVDs I buy being Single Layer (4.7GB) I need to compress the files in order to fit them on the DVD and I use DVD Shrink 3.2 which allows you to rip, compress and burn, process takes about 10-15mins from start to finish.

My Macross Zero folder contains 5 episodes which is how many were released as far as I know.

Hentai folder only has a few things in there, Elfen Laid (cause I thought it had something to do with Elfen Lied), Bible Black Origins (cause I thought it was interesting) and Taboo Charming Mother (cause it makes me laugh). That's all that's in my hentai folder.

Oh and my internet service is with a company called Bigpond here in Australia. It's probably one of the only companies that still counts uploads towards quota but when I got the net it was the only thing available in the area that was fast enough for my tastes. Other companies have come since then and when my contract ends with Bigpond I'll be swapping over.

crap. i can't believe zero went up to five. i only have 3..

then again. i should watch them first to see if the other 2 are worth it. i really don't like the cg mechs. >.<

and lol. you got charming mother too? i demand you give me some eps if you have more than me.

i have the first 4 episodes. what do you have? i'm willing to do trades if i have something you might like.

either way. a helpful link to the torrent is more than enough if you can't. ^^ i don't want to use up your net limits. ^^

stenchlord
04-04-2007, 09:22 AM
Charming Mother goes up to 6 episodes I think. I've only got the first four though.

I've now just acquired more DVDs off some customers at work.

Ok, I've recently seen Death Note episode 22 but there's something i want to get off my chest.

What's with the new title and ending music?. :(

Now, don't get me wrong. The original title music was barely tolerable but the ending music was quite good. But no, they changed it to something that even Slipknot wouldn't take a dump over.

It doesn't suit the show at all. Change it back I say!. :(

Prak
04-23-2007, 06:31 PM
Why does it even matter? I say the music fits, since it is a rather badly written series that drags on longer than can be justified for the sake of milking popularity at the expense of artistic integrity.

That's what I watched in a month....

Since the last time I posted (14th April), I've watched double the amount stated above. Would take too long to type them all out lol.

I recently bought and watched Howls moving castle.

What can I say, it was stunning to say the least. The amount of atmosphere that Studio Ghibli inject into their movies is quite staggering. After being impressed by some of there movies I just bought Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies on Amazon, it should be here by Wednesday. I believe I heard of Grave of the Fireflies first from Prak or Enya, I'm not sure which though. Anyways, should be great. :)

I'm thinking of trying out Grave of the Fireflies myself, as have read a bit about it and thought it sounded interesting. I understand that it's also supposed to be a pretty dark film though, so would probably have to wait till I was in the right kind of mood to watch it.
