So, I don't believe there's been a KH rumble, though no doubt it should get attention in a Final Fantasy forum.

So it's like this. I was actually originally only thinking of doing a KH music rumble and posting it in the VGM forum since I'd get more activity and I was gonna use many and make that one last a while, and then based on how successful it was I would have considered making it into a general KH rumble and do more editions and have it shipped here. But, Denny wouldn't let me do that. I just hope I get some activity. Nonetheless, I will keep to what I planned and start with the music edition.

So here's what's gonna happen, I'm not sure yet how many I'll use, 32, 48, or maybe even 64, but you're all free to post as many nominations as you can in this thread, from ANY of the volumes, KH1, KH2, or even CoM (but please, no 358/2, its not out in the west yet and most of us aren't familiar with it just yet). Just everyone post as many nominations as you like, then once I stop getting them I'll see how many of my own that haven't been said I want to include, and then see if I can reduce/add a few more to get a nice even number. I can think of plenty I would want, better let everyone else go first.

So I just got a late PM from Rapture (I asked him first, before I asked Denny after being tired of waiting for him to reply, but Denny replied first) approving me posting it in VGM. Sure it's too late now, but I kinda regret not waiting now considering the activity. It's been over 24 hours and I've only heard from one person. What do you think Agent?

Heh, that IS over 64... I did say as many as you like, though.

If no one else adds anything I'm gonna start soon, either narrow it down or find some way to even it and keep as many as I can. Of course first I will double check if there's anything Agent didn't say that I want, but I doubt it.

EDIT: I counted 78 that Agent said, but actually I can add two to that. 80 is a lot, but it is even enough to half down to a small number. Most of what what I would say was already said, I haven't got through the whole list but I can actually think of one that hasn't.

Anyway, if I do get a lot of rounds, I hope to get a lot of activity. Which is why I wanted to do it in VGM... well, we'll see what happens.

It doesn't surprise me that nobody else is nominating-- I don't often get a lot of nominations for my rumbles either. People just want to vote.

I know, they are. But I'm more likely to use two versions at most than three.

Fair enough. You do as you feel works best. In any case, I'm really looking forward to this getting up and running now that we're back.

Another thing I didn't mention about using multiple versions is that I might want to make room for some of mine, as well as some of other nominators we might get if this is moved. Granted I did say anyone's welcome to nominate as many as they want, but since others might nominate a lot I'll have to come to a compromise. I mean, 78 is a lot, I haven't made a final decision in how many exactly I'm planning to use, but the chances of me using every single one is quite slim. Not entirely impossible, though, after all I did say I was planning to make this be a long edition to make moving it to VGM worth it. I have the patience for a long one.
But don't worry, multiple versions aren't gonna take elimination priority if I must narrow it down. But, there are a bunch I'd like to use you didn't mention. I'm even okay with 96 since it divides by 32 and all.

BTW, Agent, I was wondering, what is the difference between "Having a Wild Time" and it's "Previous Version"? I listened and they sound the same to me, and if they're different when is the latter used? I remember wondering that a while ago and thinking they were just the same with two different names for whatever reason, but seeing as you were specific about it I take it you see a difference?

Hrm, you know, I guess one is really just a shorter cut than the other. And the Previous Version isn't used, it's a bonus on the soundtrack. Just go ahead and use the other, original version.

That's actually a lot more than I thought... but I think something can be done, I'm gonna have to recount since I noticed some of Agent's list mentioned stuff twice, as it's used both in KH1 and KH2. Gonna have to recount and somehow fairly decide what to cut, and... we'll start.

I'm gonna say a few things now, though.

-I think I'm only gonna use two Hikari's, "Simple and Clean" being one. Unless I change my mind and see something I have more issues with....
-I don't think I'm gonna use both "Precious Stars in the Sky" and "A Twinkle in the Sky" even though they have their differences.
-I might also not use "Another Side"... hope that's not too much of an issue as it wasn't bolded.
-I might use only one Dearly Beloved.


I'm closing nominations though, but to make elimination easier, if any of you see anything that was mentioned by either of us that you don't see yourself EVER voting for, say so.

Zak, I really feel strongly that both Kingdom Hearts - Hikari [Kingdom Orchestra Instrumental] and Hikari -KINGDOM HEARTS Instrumental should be included. The first is the opening demo music and is a very strong piece, while the latter is a key story moment piece that plays during the sequence where Sora plunges the keyblade into his heart and becomes a heartless. Don't you think both are really important pieces?


Other than that, I'm fine with everything else you said-- I don't see anything else that I would object strongly to the loss of, but I feel very strongly about those two Hikaris.

Okay, I see we have a lot of tracks. Let me ask another thing, I'm thinking of using only two of the three "Hand in Hand"s, and only KH1's Destiny Islands.

As for "Hand in Hand" there is:

I'm most looking to get rid of "Reprise", out of those three. One's the original, Reprise is a little bit orchestrated but sounds a little to close to the the beginning of the original, KH2 is orchestrated AND drastically different. This okay?

I'm also looking to get rid of KH2 Destiny Islands. I know it's different, but... meh.

Now, unfortunately the number we have is something like 110, which is far from 96 or 128 or anything even enough for me, so I might be forced to post the list and make an elimination session. Though, I kinda want to cut some of stuff off before I post the final list I want to be eliminated from.

The "Hand in Hand" that you want to cut, that sounds fine to me. As for the "Destiny Islands," well, I suppose it's your choice, but personally I like KH2's "Destiny Islands" more than I like KH's.


As for cutting a good portion of the unbolded, fine. The ones I bolded I did bold for a reason and I likely wouldn't feel to upset if anything that wasn't bolded doesn't get included.

Actually, forget everything I said above. I'll use all the Hand in Hands, final decision, I'm using 112.

I know it's a lot and it means this might take half a year, but it's a nice divisible by 16 number that's very close to how many I have, meaning I either have to take two off or add two.

Shouldn't be too hard... I'm starting tomorrow, but just so you know I'm probably gonna be REALLY busy once school starts, I will still update though. It'll probably be the last thing in the day that I do, though, not much of a difference.

Halloween Town's battle music... a very good combination of eerie and upbeat enough for battle. Game original, unlike the normal H-town music. Unless a variation of it was somewhere in Tim Burton's movie that I don't know about.

As you may know, I tend to vote in my own rumbles, so my vote's for Shipmeister's Humoresque. I'd spend a lot of time on the gummi menu just to listen to it.

Definately a good idea moving it here - I know I rarely venture outside of A&VGM, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this today.

I bought the second one! Just not the first one yet! I still like FFVIII's music better. But the KH music is still quite good imo.

Agent, wow... I never made that connection before! I can sort of hear it now! Damn, that actually makes me kind of like it less, I prefer when the battle theme for a place is something different and original rather than a sped up version of the normal thing. Well, to me it's different enough.
And IDX, ditto about the music from FFVIII, best OST yet.

I really like Courage, but since you're apparently combining all the Destatis, I'll go with that. It really is very iconic.

Agent - well, you DID nominate Destati and not Dive Into the Heart which no one nominated, but I always saw "Dive Into the Heart - Destati" as two seperate pieces in one track, like FFVII's "Opening - Bombing Mission". And it sort of is, because in the game itself during the awakening sequence, only the first part of DitHD loops over and over again, and after a certain point (I think when you get asked the questions) only the second part (Destati) loops over and over again. The bonus track, the Destati I linked to, IS that second loop from DitHD with some stuff added, so yes, I'm having it represent both in the description.

Destati. I don't really remember the beginning of the song, but after that, it was obvious of where it was played. It's played when you're choosing your "power" and giving up something else (sword, dream shield, dream rod place).

The "battle" music for Destiny Islands. Or rather, for the duel challenges with Selphie/Tidus/Wakka/Riku. But every place seems to have something that substitutes for battle music. Though, oddly, in Chain of Memories, the Destiny Islands battle music was not this but "Night of Fate" instead.

The main theme of... guess where? As far as I know, this tune is Shimomura-original and not from the Disney movie. It's perfectly fitting for this weird little place.

Not as many votes this time, but still, Sora's Twilight Town is a clear winner. I kind of expected it to be more even, but not much love for the king's world in this case.

Even though it's technically in London and not Neverland, this is the theme of the Clock Tower... where the keyhole and all the time treasures are... and the Phantom. Guess they had to stick a happy sounding theme somewhere in Neverland if the island itself isn't visited and the rest of it is on a scary ship (it is in 358/2 though).

As the title says, the theme for Space Paranoids, a KH2 original special world and the home of Tron. A very... cybertonic-sounding theme, kinda creepy like you're going through cyberspace, pretty psychedelic. Yeah.


Extremely hard choice for me, would hate to see either of them go. I'll cast a vote for Space Paranoids, augmented ftw. Also when it was first revealed there would be a Tron world and they showed us pictures from it, I was imagining what the music might be like there, and this is EXACLY what I imagined.

Neverland Sky -- Tron's world is one of the few locations where I actually prefer the area battle theme to normal location music.

I usually go for the more upbeat one, but this time my vote is for Precious Stars In the Sky. It's great and I even like it more than KH2's map theme. There are other boss themes coming up I like better than The Encounter.

What a great Gummi system KH2 had, with more organized courses and all. This be the theme of the very last Gummi course, the Assault of the Dreadnought. You know, the one where you're flying through that mothership with all those hatches and destroy the core.


For me, this is an easy one. I've always had an affinity for Sinister Shadows. EPIC theme. To be honest I just listened to Battleship Bravery and don't quite see the appeal of it but whatever.

I fear one might have an unfair advantage here, but what the heck. My vote's for Part of Your World.

I actually don't mind most of the songs from The Little Mermaid, but Part of your World is probably the only song that really gets on my nerves; and this was even before KH2 came out.
On the other hand, Vim and Vigour is another good battle theme from KH and gets my vote.

"Part of Your World" isn't even original material to the KH series, why was it inserted in in favor of multiple versions of some of the other tunes? My vote is for Vim and Vigor.

Not that I have anything against "Part of Your World," but I refuse to vote for a Little Mermaid song that isn't original to the game.

I am going to have to go with Part of Your World. Vim and Vigor is a bit too repetitive for my taste, besides, there are many better battle themes in my opinion.

While we've been going through a lot of KH2 boss battle music (all coincidentally), here's our FINAL boss theme for KH2, for Xemnas. It changes a lot as it's actually a multiple part track, for each stage of the final battle, a different part of this thing loops. So, it would be a good idea to listen all the way through because if covers almost the whole Xemnas battle.

This twinkly sequence, contrary to it's title, is used during the closure of the 100 Acre Wood arc in KH1 when the keyhole is sealed. It's also one of the classic Disney-original themes. Might seem unfair to put this against a final boss theme seeing as it's about 15 seconds long, but you never know. Some of these have power. Though, it's never used in KH2.


I guess my vote's gotta be Darkness of the Unknown.

The first really difficult decision for me. I only have an issue with the classic Disney songs when it comes to the vocal versions-- the instrumentals can be quite original and I felt that "Once Upon a Time" was an excellent take on the Winnie the Pooh theme to end the adventures for the Hundred Acre Wood. On the other hand, Darkness of the Unknown is an excellent final boss battle theme.

ANOTHER KH2 Boss/Event battle theme. First used for the Twilight Thorn, which is pretty much this game's Darkside. Throughout the game it's used for event battles with groups of Nobodies, usually summoned by an O13 member. Also one other time during the battle to wake up the Beast.

Finally, a theme used in both games that isn't area or battle music. A variation of Dearly Beloved, but it stands out in itself. Used mostly during emotional scenes like "I really flew" as well as childhood flashback scenes and parts where Sora has to say goodbye to someone or gets reunited with an old friend...

Difficult choice for me, but I'm gonna end up picking Tension Rising. A battle theme I actually like more in this game.

As much as it sucks for some for FIMH to be out early, Tension Rising is indeed an exceptional battle track.

Another classic Disney theme. Very catchy song, was used in both games in different ways. In KH1 it was the regular world theme for Atlantica when it was a world like all the others. In KH2 it's used in level 3 of the music mini-game mission, with words and all (I didn't post the BL link to it because it was in Japanese, but you may youtube it. It's not ripped directly from the Disney movie, seeing as it contains the voices of the KH trio). Part of Your World just lost, now how will this do?

This special battle theme is used during the second battle with Riku at Hollow Bastion after revisiting it, when he's possessed by Ansem right before entering the Dark Depths. It's also used in one of the first Ansem/Xehanort forms (I think the second one on the beach), but it's mostly associated with Riku. It's also utilized in Chain of Memories during all the battles with crazy bizarro Riku.

Oh and my vote. Having a Wild Time I think is my in-total favorite mainstream battle theme. A lot of it reminds of the Pokemon opening theme. Forze Del Male is cool at the beginning, but it has some potential it never gets around to.

It lives up to it's potential once the piano and other parts join. Title refers to Kingdom Hearts which is visible in the sky like a moon.

This must be a popular theme seeing as it has two other versions throughout the OST. This is the original, being the battle music in Traverse Town. I know it'll probably lose but I really like Sacred Moon. I mean I like Hand in Hand and this is my favorite version of it, but I got a thing for the end of SM's loop.

The theme for one part of Neverland, which is KH1 exclusive... the sky already won, how about this? Weird that you never get to go to the actual island (though I think in 358/2 you do). It's got a suspenseful creepy feel to it, like anyone would when sneaking around on a pirate ship.

A battle theme that has an oddly happy feel to it, sounds more fitting for a mini-game, but it's still a battle track. It's the battle music for Twilight Town, when you're there as Sora. The Afternoon Streets (the main TT-Sora theme) already won. But as I mentioned before, oddly in CoM they decided to use the Roxas TT theme and battle themes.


Me, I've always had a soft spot for Captain Hook's Pirate Ship, especially towards the end. Though I do admit that when I first ventured into a battle in T-Town as Sora, I was like 'wtf is with this music?' haha

And I have a soft spot for Working Together, which I find unusually cool for a normal battle theme.

KH2's Hollow Bastion theme, and as for what I meant about it representing KH1's Hollow Bastion, is the fact that it's simply that with some stuff added, hence why it would be pointless to use it. Regardless, I'd say it improved it anyway.

Colosseum battles! If there's anything I miss from KH1, it's the Colosseum tournaments. The Underdrome didn't do it for me. So what did you think of their theme?

I enjoyed doing the Colosseum tournaments, but I have to go with Reviving Hollow Bastion.

Merlin's house theme, in KH1. Yeah, the one in Traverse Town, it got it's own separate theme.

This is really really hard. I like both, but Merlin's Magical House will get mine because it gives me a nostalgic feeling of when I first discovered the game.

I'm 99% sure it is "Daring," but my vote is for Merlin's Magical House, easy.

Wow, I never heard that before, I always thought it was Darling, but "Daring" does make sense, both seem to yield about the same amount of results on Google.

This is one of the few tracks first introduced in Chain of Memories and carried over to KH2. Anyway, yeah, the battle music for most of the boss fights with members of Organization XIII, I think all of them in CoM, in KH2 it's used in a few battles, but most of them have the 13th Dilemma instead. One memorable one is... "Simply AMAZING, Roxas!"

Used in both games, this is the Disney villains' theme, not for battles, but for scenes when you see Malificent or one of her cronies plotting something evil.


My vote's easily for The 13th Struggle. It's my favorite battle theme in the game. Parts of it even remind me of one my favorite FF tracks, "The Extreme". Villains is eerie and stuff, but I honestly can't think of anything I'd choose it over.

"Villains of a Sort" is areally good tune and I loved hearing it whenever Maleficent was showing up or about to show up. It's too bad it's probably not going to advance any further in this edition, because my vote is also for The 13th Struggle. Fantastic. (Oh, and when I hear this one, the first thing I usually think of is "I'll make it all go away!")

One of those piano themes set for saucy emotional scenes, in KH2. Usually involving a goodbye, or someone reminiscing about something, usually an old friend or the good times.

The main theme for inside Monstro, where you first meet Pinocchio and Geppetto, and home to a lot of other secrets. Sounds kinda dark... and perfectly fitting for the place. Very different from its battle music.

So "Once Upon a Time" already bit it, now we have the regular world theme for 100 Acre Wood, which I THINK might be originally a Disney theme (correct me if I'm wrong). That place is always fun, seen in both games.

And... oh, geez, this is a really hard choice for me. Both are among my favorite tracks on about the same level, I think I'll be going with A Very Small Wish since it's game-original (the other one might be but I'm not 100% sure) and I might like it a little better.

The theme played in Yen-Sid's tower in Twilight Town. Very creepy and ominous... and it still keeps that theme when you revisit it later in the game!

The OTHER Twilight Town theme, that being the one when you're there as Roxas. Both of Sora's TT themes (main + battle) already won, it's Roxas's turn. Oddly, even though you're Sora then, this is the theme used in CoM's Twilight Town, not "The Afternoon Streets".

A KH1 Boss theme! Haven't had one of those in a while... mostly we've been seeing those from KH2, except for "Squirming Evil" which already lost. Anyway, contrary to that, this is one of the first Boss themes you hear, I think at the Guard Armor, and it's used for "Heartless" boss battles (as opposed to Disney character bosses). Mostly early ones though, like that and the Trickmaster and others.


I vote for Shrouding Dark Cloud. "Lazy Afternoons" doesn't do it for me like "Afternoon Streets" does, plus I loved most of KH1's boss themes, better than those in the second.

Finally, one of the KH1 gummi themes. This is played for second level routes, past the first warp, like those that go between Agrabah, Atlantica, Halloween Town, Monstro Neverland, etc.
It's a lot like the first, but in a different key and a bit faster.
