Agrabah (KH2) 4-2 The Castle That Never Was (358/2 Days)

Another loss for Days, but at least this time it got an additional vote. But yes, the first Agrabah to advance.

Round 1 - Battle 15

Wonderland (KH1)

Welcome to Wonderland! This world's Days version may have gone, but KH1's Wonderland is something. It is full of wonders and hidden secrets. It is also the very first "Disney" world you ever get to visit, which most people probably remember getting the feel of the game from. From the Lotus maze, to the ever-shifting Bizarre Room with six perspectives, and feeding the flowers, facing the Trickmaster, finding evidence to prove Alice innocent... definitely a classic world. Shame they did not have room for it in KH2, but it exceeded my expectations in Days as well. But this is about KH1...

VS.

Atlantica (KH2)

So KH1's Atlantica has won... but KH2's, this one is very different, and it's pretty much hit or miss. It was downgraded to a special side-world with a single sidequest involving mini-games, rather than a whole level like the rest of them. Not a lot of exploring either, just two screens, but instead of "Under the Sea" playing over and over again, you get a really beautiful soothing piece in the background. While KH2 was pretty lacking in the fun of making use of new magic/abilities to go back and do stuff you couldn't before (as in KH1), this world was the only one that did that, and that was so it would span the whole game, despite being a short mini-game. Basically, you advance the story by talking to different Atlantica characters and having them do a music mini-game, and this time the prince is introduced, for once. This world was hit or miss, everyone either really loved it or was disappointed.

Gotta go with Wonderland (KH1). I can see this one going pretty far.

Zak hasn't posted at all on these boards in over a month and a half. I guess we have to acknowledge at this point that he really doesn't have time to run this anymore. Anyone else interested in doing so?

Zak, if by some chance you are reading, I can leave it for you to reclaim, but only if you'd actually have time to manage it.

Sorry.... I've been really busy, stuff came up but now that it's summer, I can be active again. The question though is whether other people are alive. I'd like no one to take this over, please. I haven't even finished the first round.

Before I continue I'd like to know that people still read this, so I'm gonna say this: Anyone (besides Agent) interested in me continuing this? I'm gonna give like three days to a week of people to reply, and if it meets my satisfaction, then I will continue right where we left off.

Consider this more of a message to let everyone know this is back in action, rather than start immediately. I just don't want to get like three votes every round, which is why I kind of got bored initially with this. Just want to make sure of that. So yeah, I'll start within the week, but if anyone sees this between now and then, give a holla. If I don't get at least four non-Agent signatures, then I don't know if it's worthwhile, and it'd kind of be pointless to have someone else take over since they'd have the same problem.

But, letting someone take over in the middle of a round is out of the question for me.

I just realised that I did not vote.

Wonderland bscause Atlantica KH2 was the worst world ever and if you voted for it, you should feel bad.

Zak

hahaha okay I think with that I shall resume!

Wonderland KH1 4-2 Atlantica KH2

So... KH2's Atlantica wasn't as popular, as expected... but I was actually surprised it got some votes. I had fun with it, though, and there are certainly a few worlds I would have voted for it over. But certainly not KH1's Wonderland, the very first Disney-experience!

Once again sorry about that hiatus, we haven't even finished the first round and still have five battles left. Let's get the wheels turning shall we...

Round 1 - Battle 16

The Land of Dragons (KH2)

So... our first new Disney world in KH2, for Mulan. Sora has already met Mushu in KH1, but this is the first time in his world. Mulan (or "Ping") is an ally for this world, and you visit villages and snowy mountains and the emperor's palace. Riku also shows up here, undercover... and after Shan Yu is gone, there's another huge threat, the great Storm Rider. This world, so far, has been a one game wonder as far as the franchise is concerned, who knows if it may make future appearances...

VS.

100 Acre Wood (KH1)

So, KH2's 100 Acre Wood lost... to a mere "dive into the heart". I don't know if that says anything about it's popularity, but here it's got itself another chance. In KH1, our first 100-Acre-Wood experience, which is once again accessed from Merlin's house (in Traverse Town), there is actually a keyhole to lock (which makes little sense due to lack of Heartless, but a world's a world and there's a keyhole I guess). This place was full of some fun mini-games, and actually left room for some exploration and secrets, such as hidden chests... whereas in KH2 everything was right there. Though one could argue differently about the mini-games.

I'm voting for 100 Acre Wood. I had a lot fun with it in KH1. Land of Dragons did almost nothing for me... shame, it had so much potential.

Land of Dragons

Pooh's world was and has been so far nothing but a waste of time. I dreaded I was going to have to go there again in BBS when I saw the book but was pleasantly relieved at how they made the smart move of not including it.

Okay I think this is good...

Land of Dragons KH2 3-2 100 Acre Wood KH1

As in the last battle, 100 Acre Wood is completely out now. Guess it isn't very popular... but anyway, Mulan's world gets to move on!

Round 1 - Battle 17

Halloween Town (KH2)

So KH1's Halloween Town already won, here's the second one! So, while Halloween Town has appeared in as many as four of the games to date, this is the only one which, like in the movie, has Christmas Town as part of it (though still with the same music). Though, Christmas Town does have its own menu scheme. As for Halloween Town itself, most of the main areas like the entrance and square are still there, but some of it was redesigned and some things were relocated. But that's because for this game, most of the plot and events there seem to revolve around Christmas Town, with both Oogie Boogie and the Experiment boss fights being there... as well as Santa's workshop's mini-game.

VS.

Beast's Castle (358/2 Days)

Okay so I know Days hasn't been very popular in this rumble... still have two left though, everyone deserves a fair chance. And, I'm sure those who played Days can argue that they did a great job with utilizing the Beast's Castle. Roxas goes on some interesting missions here, some involving elusively sneaking past Cogsworth and Lumiere... and if I'm not mistaken, this would be the only Disney-world that Roxas visited before Sora, unless you count Neverland itself. There are also a couple new secret passages in the castle that this game has that KH2 did not... as well as access to the ballroom balcony. There are also some really challenging bosses such as the great Infernal Engine Heartless... as well as a few interesting plot elements, involving Xaldin and going "behind the scenes" of some of KH2's events.

I'm probably alone on this (but it's great if I'm not), but I'm going with the Beast's Castle (358/2 Days). Honestly I had more fun in that place there than I did in KH2.

So by default the non-Days one wins again. Well, the other Halloween Town lost, gotta have one standing.

Round 1 - Battle 18

Agrabah (358/2 Days)

Yeah yeah another Days candidate that probably won't get any votes, but still a decent world. Description? A lot to say here... Agrabah is the very first of the Disney worlds that Roxas gets to visit in Days. Also, like Neverland, this world has got some originality exclusive to Days. Well, the city itself is exactly the same layout as KH1's Agrabah, but the Cave of Wonders is completely new, not like either of the other two, and in fact it's kind of fun, feels more dungeon-y, and hides a lot of secrets and places to explore (but the lamp chamber we all know and love still exists). There have been a total of four different Caves of Wonders (including Re: Coded which is also different than this or the other two). There's also the one desert area from KH2 with all the ruins where you fly your carpet, except no carpet here, instead a pretty tough boss. No Kurt Zisa though, thankfully. As for the story, it mostly focuses on Aladdin and Jasmine trying to rebuild the city after it's been hit by a storm, Jafar is nonexistant. So... yeah, that's Agrabah, and this is all the Days worlds. It's been real...

VS.

Monstro (KH1)

Ah, monstrous Monstro. A world inside a whale. Pinocchio's world, to be specific... so apparently some whales have entire wood structures erected inside them still standing. Aside from being a maze of six chambers (which have a numbering system that makes no sense with "Chamber 4" being the last one you reach out of them and meet Riku), this place is mostly remembered as the world where you get High Jump. Hah, kind of funny how in Re: CoM they also acknowledge it by giving it to you there, and it's not even an ability you activate or put on or learn, it's just "You now have High Jump", and the game just automatically modifies Sora's maximum jumping height. This world is also home to the gem which lets you summon Dumbo, Watergleam. And... let's not forget the Parasite Cages, one of which is the ONE battle in KH1 where you fight alongside Riku.

Gonna say Agrabah (Days) just for having the best cave of wonders ever.

Monstro (KH1) 4-1 Agrabah (358/2 Days)

So that's the end of Days... ah well, was worth a shot. But those of you who have yet to play it should definitely check it out, even if that means using a... yeah okay, moving on. ;)
So... Monstro's maze of chambers moves on to show up in the next round. So, now that Days are out, everyone should (hopefully) be familiar with the worlds included from here on.

So two more for this round...

Round 1 - Battle 19

Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden (KH2)

So, KH1's Hollow Bastion actually is already out (but it was up against some actual competition), but here's KH2's, which is a complete contrast to the one we are introduced to. In fact, it takes on the role Traverse Town had in KH1, as an actual town for all the FF characters and not a big creepy castle. We learn that Hollow Bastion was in fact a beautiful and inhabited place of another name (which you can experience if you play Birth By Sleep) before the Heartless basically conquered it, and it's former residents are working on reviving it. A lot of other plot-pivotal stuff happens here, such as the "Ansem" twist and exploring his study and his computer (which leads to Tron's sub-world), as well as Demyx's demise, the Organization's showdown of 1000 Heartless, fighting alongside a bunch of FF characters... oh, and Goofy dying (oops, spoiler). Oh, and let's not forget a little more of Cloud and Sephiroth than what we got in KH1...

VS.

Pride Lands (KH2)

Another Disney world, one of the last ones visited in this game. So far the world was only in KH2, but Simba was introduced in KH1. Home of Simba and a bunch of other jungle animals ruled under Scar's tyranny as in The Lion King. This world, like Atlantica, also transforms the trio, since there are no humans in the Lion King and apparently Donald and Goofy's current species aren't good enough. That, or they just had to transform because Sora did. The transformation effect also seems to affect Pete and turned him into a huge ape, who they encounter here, so I guess it's anyone from another world no matter the species. Simba joins the party (and they remember him as they do Mushu), you fight the hyena gang a couple times, and finally overthrow Scar at the summit, but that doesn't stop his ghost from showing up (so they have a reason to revisit). But there's also the flashy Groundshaker battle... which I honestly forget what leads up to it.

I'll say Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden (KH2). Wish we could have gotten to explore the castle again, but the world was still fantastic. But for those interested, the KH1 castle does return in Re: Coded!

Only four votes? Agent, wherefore art thou? Oh well, not that it'll make a difference anyway...

Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden (KH2) 4-0 Pride Lands (KH2)

A blowout victory to Hollow Bastion. Which makes it even for KH1 Hollow's loss. Nothing seems to be going for the Pride Lands, but it was up against something pretty tough.

Last battle of this round!

Round 1 - Battle 20

Agrabah (KH1)

So Agrabah from KH2 already won (against a Days competitor), and Agrabah from Days is, quite obviously, gone. Now, here's KH1's classic Agrabah. It's very different from that of KH2, but the layout of the city is basically the same as that of Days and Re: Coded. However, this would be the only one where you get to go to Aladdin's House, and the Cave or Wonders here is exclusive to this game, as are all the Caves in every game Agrabah shows up in. This is the one with the underground chambers full of secrets, the treasure room, and the lamp chamber at the end where you fight Jafar. That room has been in every Agrabah except KH2's. Oh, and Jafar also controls a Pot Centipede... but besides that, this wold also has an ultimate secret lurking in the desert -- Kurt Zisa!

VS.

Olympus Colosseum (KH2)

The Colosseum again. While this world is now the ONLY world that has appeared in all six KH games to date, the one in KH2 is quite different. All the other games just have the three Colosseum screens, but here, it includes Hades's realm, the Underworld! Unfortunately, the Colosseum we all know and love has been destroyed, so there aren't really any tournaments or battles there... aside from GETTING UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK. We also meet our first KH2-introduced member of the Organization here, Demyx. And, for once, we not only get to meet a new FF character, Auron, but he actually joins the party, which none of the other FF characters have done before. Hercules and Megara also help out in some fights, though. Of course Auron is there because he's "dead" as he is in FFX... originally recruited by Hades, but, that backfires because it is "his story".
The Underdrome replaces the Colosseum... and it has some of its own challenges to offer. Cerberus is back, as well as Hades... and this time, fighting Hades is actually part of the story.

Tough choice actually for me. Gonna say Olympus Colosseum (KH2). Heh, though I feel like that world and the movie would be more interesting if Persephone were involved. :P
