The references I was thinking of : Wayne and Torres from Parasite Eve (in Lindblum Synth Shop) and striking similarity between Chrono Cross Swallows and FFIX Thief Swords. I would also count Terranigma (main hero was called Ark), but it was Enix game.

I admit, I completely forgot about the Parasite Eve reference - although I knew there was a Square game reference in Lindblum, I just couldn't remember what game it was from. :p

As for Ark, I made a slight error - I muddled up the game's name by mistake - it's actually called Cruise Chaser Blassty - when I first read about this game it was years ago in an old anime magazine while reading a review of an old Japanese artbook of concept art from the game, and for some reason they had translated it as 'SG Blassty', hence my erroneous writing of the title. Anyway, a quick search on Wikipedia found it easily enough: Cruise Chaser Blassty - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruise_Chaser_Blassty) (and incidentally, both Hironobu Sakaguichi and Nobou Uematsu worked on it's development). ;)
