Hi, I've seen, around in this thread, some interesting scores for the Disney/Pixar's shorts (like Paperman by Christophe Beck, La Luna by Michael Giacchino, The Blue Umbrella by Jon Brion) and i ask: has Disney intention to release a score also for Get A Horse! by Mark Watter? And, unless, do you think someone, soon or later, will post a "homemade" version?

I mean, the 4 new tracks are great, but otherwise it sticks with the traditional soundtrack. Some of my favorite moments- the film versions of, say, Buzz crossing the 'als spack zathura [sp]' plates, falling, and activating the anti-gravity servos, or the film version of Saving Jesse (where the Woody's Roundup theme gets another play)- are missing, and a number of others seem to remain mashups from different parts of the film strung together. Was this just like the first track from Revenge of the Sith, where most of this was composed this was, and a lot of music got tracked in the final film?

My dream score remains a film-accurate complete score of TS2 (including Giachinno's 'one world theme,' for instance)- not just with the incidentals this C&C gave us, but with correct film order and complete set of tracks.

As far as we know (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) -

The C&C's originated with a bug's life (1998). We have nothing for Toy Story (1995) at all. As with the Toy Story 2 C&C, the bug's life one only had a few extra tracks besides the same material as the OST. Finding Nemo (2003) was the first complete C&C, as far as we know. Nothing has turned up for Monsters, Inc. (2001) besides the complete FYC. After that, they have all had complete C&Cs except Cars (2006). No one has found the WALL-E (2008) C&C, yet, but the director, Andrew Stanton, has confirmed that there was one. All we have is a complete score from somewhere, maybe an FYC, maybe the Recording Sessions.

I read lots of posts in this thread to find links or news about these special soundtracks and in the next hours I would try to read all this topic.

I was wondering if someone could re-up "Cars C&C" (old link is broken). Thanks in advance!


Ps: when I downloaded "A Bug's Life C&C" I noticed that it contains 25 tracks, but I've got this backcover where it can be seen that there are 29 tracks (I know, its a bit difficult to see...). I downloaded it months ago from Google (when I was in searching of the regular soundtrack) and I don't remember where I found it... Do you think it's a fake or not? It may be some disc from a foreign country (diffrerent from the original US)?

Ahhhh... I think I just fainted... wow, that's a lot of bug's life listening you must have been doing to have found out all that!!

I've never seen one with 29 tracks. That's all I've ever seen, save the OST and the two DVDrips. I suppose there is a slim possibility that the picture you've posted is a fan-editited back cover for some maybe expanded version of the C&C...?? But I doubt it. It looks quite genuine. All very mysterious...

As far as I know, "A Bug's Life Suite" was specially compiled for the OST, as most 'suites' are.

How do you know that the track 9 on this mystery cover is a combination of tracks 2 & 10 of the C&C? As far as I know, the cue for when Flik arrives in Bug City ("The City") just uses the same theme as "The Flik Machine", and sounds very similar, but is still a separate cue.

You're right, it's possible! Personally, I'm not in search of the disc but if I had it I wouldn't do that because I'm a fan, others unlike may can do... maybe this is a real problem that makes this "operation" impossible.
I think that if the person who handle the physical disc has to spend much more than those who wait for the digital copy of it... we can make it.

I'd be willing to team up in order to pool money and buy something i couldn't otherwise afford. It would require some trust, and an agreement about the person retaining ownership of the actual disc paying slightly more, but that can all be accomplished. Personally, i don't feel the need to own the actual disc. It's what's ON the disc that i care about. It's all about the music and the listening experience for me - a FLAC copy retains all the information on the disc, so i would be satisfied. The only reason the person who keeps the disc should pay more, in my opinion, is because they have the authentic item, which has resale value.

I would prefer the tracks separated as they were originally written, and not have to manually separate them. Anyway, I'm sure others here would agree with me when I say that, even though they are technically the same, actually having a rip of the actual C&C would be great to have besides the FYC.

You cannot convert FLAC to Mp3 and retain higher quality. Likewise you cannot convert a hardback book to a paperback and retain the feel of a hardback.

There are a lot of things you can do with them. If you don't mind the amount of space they take up on your hard drive(s), then you can find a music player app that will last FLAC files. If you find that they're taking up too much drive space you can use any number of apps to rip them as mp3 files. The more you compress, the more quality you'll lose, so you have to find what works for you. If you do this, I'd recommend you burn the FLAC files to CD twice, that way you've got a backup if the first one gets scratched or corrupted.

If you want to keep the music in lossless but don't want them to be FLAC files, you can convert them to apple lossless files, aiff files, or WAV files. Maybe one of those will play on a music app you already have.

For more specifics, just google something like "convert FLAC files" - you'll find a ton of possibilities that way. Hope this helps.

MP3 is a lossy format (that is, the sound quality is not as high as it should be). It cannot be made into a lossless format.

Think of it like taking a small image and making it larger on your computer; you'll end up with a big yet grainy image. It's like making MP3 into a FLAC; it does nothing to boost the sound quality.

flac being lossless container - you can putting mp3 in, but having lossy flac file from that (like lossless copy of lossy file). or putting lossless cd file in, and getting lossless file (lossless copy for lossless file).

mp3s having lost information when making mp3s, so cannot recover information to make lossless.

Yes, they rip directly from the CD in FLAC. I suppose you could try Exact Audio Copy (EAC).

Don't worry, I did read all that info in your first post on the thread. I'm not saying the material on the complete score is any different to the C&C - just that it's from a different source. So are the re-ordered tracks on the C&C in the film order? The ones on the complete are not?

Presumably you mean the Cars FYC? As far as we know, it never got a C&C. One of the most tragic missed opportunities in history.

Thinking about it, I'm beginning to wonder if the Planes movies will get C&Cs, as they're technically made by DisneyToon Studios, not Disney proper. DisneyToon Studios are responsible for all the sequels (Lady and the Tramp II, Bambi II, Little Mermaid II, Jungle Book II, 101 Dalmatians II, etc), and we've never had C&Cs for those. I really hope that's not the case, as Mancina's Planes scores are incredibly good. Listening to Fire and Rescue right now. Absolutely wonderful, tense, thrilling stuff. And I haven't even seen the films yet.

Haha, yeah, we bought the cheapest tickets which were for the standing gallery at the top of the Royal Albert Hall, which was actually a really good view of the orchestra and screen. I live in hope of both, as I doubt Pixar wouldn't do one for MU, and Disney did do one for Tangled.

Having said that, Pixar didn't appear to do a C&C for Monsters, Inc.... all we have is the (practically complete) FYC, just like Monsters University.

Haha, yeah, Toy Story is one of his most iconic, famous works, so I highly doubt he'd say no!! I damn well hope he doesn't!! Just the thought of another film length's worth of Toy Story music is making me tingle with anticipation!

I mean for the feature films, lol. You couldn't conceivably have a Toy Story feature without a Randy song. ;)

I'm certain Newman will be asked to return; it wouldn't quite be Toy Story without him!

I can understand different composers for the shorts & other media. But Newman is required for the movies I say
