I have a really bad encode of the OWM 2000 edition which seems to have longer (I would daresay proper) fades... but three tracks out of 24 are missing... Same tracks as the ones in the official release but since the last seconds of the tail of the previous song are included in the beginning of the next one... we are totally out of luck to restore a proper version.

Does anyone have any of the former editions even in mp3 format?
Hi DC,
I have posted my old mp3 copy of the OWM 2000 3 disc over in the lossy thread.
Sorry I didn't realise that you were wanting Antarctica Soundtrack. My mistake.
Best regards, Zhora.

BLADE RUNNER

The Off World Ltd. Release

Off World Music OWM 9301 (1993)

This is the original unofficial CD release. This is the one that sort of
got the ball rolling. Granted the quality isn't the best (although not bad)
and it can no longer be considered the definitive version but at the time
this came out it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. A truly great
release that most likely paved the way for the official 1994 edition.

There are a couple of problems with this rip:
Track 14 (Wounded Animals) has a bad glitch at 7:24 and track 17 (One More Kiss Dear) also has one at 2:32. These are ripping errors, unlike the many pops and crackles on track 5 (Bicycle Riders) that are also present on the Gongo version at exactly the same times, but are fixed on Nexus 6 Vol.3
Would anyone have a better rip? Ideally done using EAC in safe mode...

There are more than that... That's why the "Blade Runner Nexus 6 Version Vol. 3" was released. The fixes for that faulty version were used to make the aforementioned release... and also the original release had its own problems anyway... the pops and crackles are almost gone on the Nexus 6 version for example...
The Gongo edition was only the european rip-off of the american Off-World release... they are exactly the same! :)

Totally agreed...The Blade Runner Nexus 6 vol.3 is more than a single compilation of Off World 1993 and Gongo. It fixes many faulty, crackles and pops from both original releases.
Now armamar, if you want to collect the most possible Blade Runner bootlegs, accept the fact that some nearly bootlegs are not perfect even if some nice guys here try to fix and clean them...

Thanks for your comments, and please don't be upset, I didn't mean to be critical. I have an original Gongo edition and I was trying to get a copy of the Off World edition as close to the original as possible (even with all the 'original' noise!). I hadn't realised, until I compared the two, that they are identical right down to every single crackle and pop!
To fix the noise present on the originals would create a totally different 'edition' so I am grateful for the Nexus 6 vol 3 too. And I am extremely grateful to all of the nice guys here who are trying to fix and clean the originals, and are willing to share freely of their hard work. Thanks guys!

Nah... no one got upset really... plus we love fighting over such arguments! ;)
It is my intention to post the copy I'm having anyway, for future reference... but really there is no difference...
We are preparing something to post here in the next weeks so I'd rather concentrate on that... but do rest assured that I will do that in between the surprises we are preparing! :)

Would you be able to post some good resolutions of the Gongo artworks? We are missing that and it would be nice to know what's inside the inner cover for example! If you do not have access to a scan... it'll be all right the same!

To fix the noise present on the originals would create a totally different 'edition' so I am grateful for the Nexus 6 vol 3 too.

Well, actually some tries were done about creating a different edition... the first try is the LMS Edition 2001 (http://www.anunna.net/vangelis-rarities/newsite.php?methode=methode1&id=174) perhaps... it might be still be found on page 4, post #82 if you wish...

There you have the Off World and Gongo restored... but given the sources you cannot expect something sounding as good as the originals... during the last year further work was done to restore those tracks and were used for the Ultimte MR2, EMS, Chinatown Club and 29th Anniversary... and in time what was not officially posted yet, it will be posted here I trust.
The Blade Runner 2011 is a good try at it for example. If you ever tried to work on the Blade Runner soundtrack you might understand what those guys had achieved with that.
There you have a nice and fixed version of some songs off the Off World bootleg for example

On a different subject (and possibly off topic) would there be any interest in any of the following Off World CDRs here (quality not great, taken from DVD/VHS):
Sauvage et Beau (26 tracks)
De Nuremberg a Nuremberg (34 tracks)
The Plague (15 tracks)
Bitter Moon (18 tracks)

YES! YES & YES! GO ALONG PLEASE!

I think we should touch this topic anyway, because either we start a new thread with the Vangelis related bootlegs... either we let this thread evolve and carry on the legacy of the topic starters in a different way. We run out of every possible Blade Runner release (sort of)... shall we let this thread die on its own or shall we carry on in a different way?

I would like to post Mmoires vol. 8 for example but I'd rather not to post it on the Blade Runner related thread preferring to leave more space to Zhora's project of releasing a pretty comprehensive collection of Blade Runner inspired music there...

I'd rather see everything tied in some place than having to jump here and there to see the post of the same people who are posting here as well...

Is there anybody out there (oops, now I'll have the Pink Floyd tune in my head for the rest of the day) who is still interested in the Esper Mk I edition?
Seen all the fabulous posts in this thread, it might not be up to par with all those remixed, remastered and/or fixed editions posted by all you experts, but this is the only thing worth sharing that I have.
NOT my own rip, but something I downloaded from the www a couple of years ago.
It's in APE format (image+cue), and the files seem to have been ripped in 2003 (if that has any importance).
My up/download capabilities are extremely limited, so if nobody is interested, then I won't do the effort. But otherwise I'll gladly upload the archives exactly as I downloaded them (i.e. untouched and with the original password), just to thank all you nice people for the tremendous work you're doing!

I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. Maybe that's because all the rapidshare servers were busy.
Unfortunately, it's the same story with all file hosts if you're not a registered user. Than you get a message like "All the slots for your country are occupied" or "All our servers are busy. Feel free to try again later."
So for the moment I only have this advice: try it again on a different moment of the day.
Yesterday, after I uploaded the files, I asked a friend (NOT a rapidshare member) to download them, just to make sure that it worked before I posted the links. And it worked perfectly. The time was 10:30 GMT. It shouldn't be to hard to calculate what time that is in New Zealand.
And just a few moments ago (08:30 GMT), I tried it out myself, just to make sure. Everything seems to be in order, because I had no problems with it.
This is how I did it: scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the grey button that says "Free-Download". This button then becomes green, saying "Download Now".
When you click this green button, your download should start almost immediately.
Another word of advice: DON'T use a download manager or download accelerator. Those file hosts seem to be 'allergic' to them if you're not a member.
I hope this will help. Sorry for the inconvenience and good luck! And if it still won't work, you may always leave me another message.

I can confirm what dvran has said since what has happened to you is quite common. Even if I have a rapidshare account I did not use it to download the files and with the download manager it too about 3 hours. Try JDownloader for example. Still you will be asked to wait 15 minutes in between downloads but that's it if you do not have an account with them. Keep trying! :)

I'm afraid this is not always like that. If you set your download manager to divide the download in 8 attempts at the same time (thus acting as a download accelerator) the server will refuse the other 7 attempts most of the times.
Apart from this... JDownloader will work with these saving you from clicking and waiting... it will do that for you as any proper coded download manager should do. It also accepts registered accounts making it more easier to get content from their servers. Just make sure to input the right preferences when using it for the first time. Give it a try and let us know... ;)

Could someone show me the way, 'cause I'm a little lost here, please?
A while ago a brand new BR soundtrack edition, called "EMS Recombination", was announced in these pages. Since it was going to be the best ever version, there was no doubt in my mind that this was something to look out and worth waiting for.
I visited the home site several times for information about the project's progress. But nothing new has appeared there since May 22, 2011. Then, browsing through the pages of The Blade Runner Soundtracks Ultimate Thread, I noticed that the "The EMS Recombination 3 Disc Definitive Edition" had been posted there on page 18 in a lossy format. Wasn't this going to be a lossless release? Did I miss something along the way?
If there's only going to be a lossy version, then I'll hurry to download it. But if the lossless version is still to come, than that would be rather silly, wouldn't it?
So, if someone could give me a hint, that would be much appreciated! Meanwhile waiting patiently...
Thank you very much in advance!

Apologies to anyone waiting for the Vangelis OSTs I had promised a short while back. Due to problems of a non-technical nature (and unfortunately not under my control) I am not able to upload any files probably until September. Oh well, 2+2 makes 4 on my computer too. Message understood... I think...
As I thought: I missed something along the way... forgot to compare the release dates, and overlooked the designation "Definitive". Errare humanum est...

But since the "EMS Recombination 3 Disc Definitive Edition" hasn't been released yet, this gives me the opportunity to make a small suggestion. If I may?
As it happens, there's something I noticed while comparing the track listings of all the different BR releases.
Everybody seems to agree on the title "Ladd Company Logo" (or "Ladd Company Fanfare") for that specific piece of music at the very beginning of the movie. And rightly so!
But when it comes to the next 2 musical themes, unanimity is lost. Sometimes they're called "Main Titles & Prologue" (OWM Editions, Grey Fedora Editions, ...), on other releases the very same suite of music is called "Prologue & Main Titles" (Esper Editions, Sbastien's 2008 Edition, ...).
In all the versions of the movie the chronology of the opening scenes is always the same (except for the 'workprint' version, in which the main titles are still missing):
1. The WB logo: soundless, so not applicable.
2. The Ladd Company Logo (digital green tree): lasts about 25 to 30 seconds. The music that can be heard here, though not composed by Vangelis, is the very first theme of the movie.
3. The Main Titles (names of the actors, composer, director, producer, etc.): these are accompanied by the first theme composed by Vangelis himself. This title sequence takes up about 35 to 40 seconds.
4. The Prologue ("Early in the 21st century...": a short summary of the events leading up to the movie's plot, much like the "In a galaxy far far away..." prologue of the Star Wars movies): the tone of Vangelis' music becomes even more menacing. This 'introduction' lasts about 50 seconds...
5. ... and then the first real images appear: the Los Angeles 2019 skyline alternating with short close-ups of an (human or replicant's?) eye. ("Eye On The City"...). Once again Vangelis adapts his music to accompany this transition from the white letters on a black background to the real start of the movie.

So, even though the first minutes of Vangelis' score emerge as one suite of music, they consist of 3 distinct pieces of music, "Main Titles" chronologically always being the first of them.
That's why, in my very humble opinion, the track title "Main Titles & Prologue" is the better choice, furthermore bearing in mind that the "Eye On The City" part could also be considered as some kind of (extended) "Prologue".
I really hope you don't mind me pointing this out. I would like to think of this as a very, very, very, very small contribution to make an already perfect project even more perfect. Nothing more, nothing less. Feel free to do with it as you see fit...

And anyway: A rose by any other name would smell as sweet!

BTW, any chance of re-uploading (one of) these (in a lossless format)?

- Blade Runner 2008 Cover Collection - Original front cover now included!

- Frank Klepacki / Blade Runner (Promo) (Pendor Edition [P-100|F]) ( 2010 Pendor)

- Frank Klepacki / Blade Runner (Pendor Edition [P-101|F]) ( 2010 Pendor)

The first ones getting that right were the makers of the Blade Runner - 20th Anniversary Edition.
If we are not counting the Ladd Company Logo music we have the "Main Titles" intro (the reverbered kicks and the stripped down melody)... when the Main titles intro ends the "Prologue" music slowly kicks in... then the "Los Angeles November 2019 (Eye On The City)" soundscape is playing entering into the intro to the "Leon's Voight-Kampff Test" music which ends with the keyboard note on the Leon's shot scene.

Given the EMS concept and quality of the sources used that is going to remain like it was originally intended with the EMS 2010 version...
On the other hand I tried to address this issue on the "29th Anniversary" since I could not hear that on any release to date except on the original DAT perhaps... but I had to compromise quality for more detailed angles of the music... It was intended as one track anyway...

The problem is that on the 1994 official release the very same music is called Main Titles (part of it at least...)

BTW, any chance of re-uploading (one of) these (in a lossless format)?

- Blade Runner 2008 Cover Collection - Original front cover now included!

- Frank Klepacki / Blade Runner (Promo) (Pendor Edition [P-100|F]) ( 2010 Pendor)

- Frank Klepacki / Blade Runner (Pendor Edition [P-101|F]) ( 2010 Pendor)

I am afraid I accidentally deleted the Blade Runner 2008 covers from the server... I hope someone else might help with that since I have the original covers on another computer... but I will have a look anyway.

For the Pendor Editions in fake lossless in the meantime I might advice to get the versions posted on the lossy thread since the quality is pretty the same. If the source was a 128 kbps mp3... you are not going to gain much with a lossless version of that.

I'm sorry to say that those aren't really the ones I was looking for. (Downloaded them from BR2019.)
I was especially hoping to find (what seems to be) the "original" front cover/booklet.
But sincere thanks for your quick reply and your effort anyway!!!

The ones posted by Zoran are the original front cover/booklet (though the release never had an official artwork)... the ones you are after are the alternate artworks made by the admin at hoho.cz and posted on the Yahoo soundtrack group at the time.

Thanks for the 29th Anniversary Edition preview. As usual, the music will be perfect. No doubt about that!

But I'm afraid that is not really what I meant. I admit that, because of my rather lengthy explanation, it may have been difficult to see the wood for the trees.
Having seen the (final?/near final?) artwork of the EMS Recombination Definitive 3 Disc Edition on the home site, I had noticed that the second track on disc 1 had been given the name "Prologue & Main Titles". The constituent parts of that (4:01 minutes long) suite of music needn't necessarily be split up (although, of course, that is a possibility, in which case every part can be named separately).
I was merely suggesting that "Main Titles & Prologue" perhaps might have been a better title for it, considering the fact that the "Main Titles" part chronologically always comes first.
I realized that the artwork would have to be altered for that, but I thought that that might still be easier to do than to start tinkering with an already finished and perfect piece of music.
Bottom-line: NOT my project, NOT my decision! A little suggestion, NOTHING MORE!
And 'a rose by any other name would smell as sweet!'

It seems we tracked down and analyzed every possible source and so far the fake lossless releases are:
Los Angeles November 2019,
Blade Runner 2019 Edition & Blade Runner Theatrical Edition,
2 tracks on the Blade Runner 20th Anniversary Edition,
every single release attributed to Frank Klepacki is instead based on lossy sources (and that make it sort of fake lossless as well) except the Blade Runner (Promo) (Pendor Edition) [P-100 F] which is not Frank Klepacki at all.

Sometime ago while trying to use the same approach used by the makers of the 2019 edition I ended up with the material that is being used for the 29th Anniversary... which is the ac3 streams decoded to wav basically...
Even if that approach is loosely based on a compressed signal I would account the quality as pretty close to lossless (even if it is not)... but that is what we have... and perhaps we will always have...

Main Titles & Prologue should be the more correct way to call that track as you have pointed out and that is how I would refer to it on the 29th Anniversary... for the EMS... we will see. I'll have a word with the boss! Your suggestion is highly appreciated anyway!

Our Wise Findings Are Just Here to Serve!

Read dvran's post, he's right of course it should read Main Titles and Prologue but as Vangelis called it Main Titles we are taking our cue from that. In the strictest sense everything that comes before this piece is prologue.

So the boss has spoken! A year after the initial compiling, we're again back to finalize the last details! :)

Is CD1 from the 25th anniversary trilogy a remastered version of the official 1994 release? Or is it 100% identical?

No... it is 200% identical. Don't let anyone telling you that it was remastered. It was not. Thanks heaven they did not squashed the music through any loudness maximizer... and that's why I still like it! ;)

BIG MISTAKE INDEED.
They might refer to such statement if they were talking about the Nexus 6 Volume 3 release... which they were not... plus Disc 6 is the Blade Runner inspired tracks.
The Esper Retirement guys were the ones stating that the Trilogy releases was remastered... but was not.

PM received anyway! :)

Lots of them... but you might still want to follow the advice you were given yourself at the very start of your quote.

As a quick suggestion grab the links on page 18 & 19 of this thread and see what you like best. Obviously stay away from the Esper and FIC releases which have crossfades... I'd call that sequenced... whatever... :)

Hello everybody! Here's a bootleg, called:
"MEMOIRES. Vol.4" Bitter Moon \ Blade Runner (http://www.anunna.net/vangelis-rarities/newsite.php?methode=methode1&id=89) in *.flac

cover remaked by Zoran

tracks:
1-13 Bitter Moon Suite (42:03)
14-20 Blade Runner Suite (26:19)

It was very hard to upload them - maybe some files on some mirrors are really broken. Just for that possibility, I make 6 mirrors to all of parts. And thanks again to Antas for sharing this release.
With best reards, Cloud M.D., Zero_flyer

P.S. If anybody want it to, I could re-pack so-called "Nexus 6 Vol.1" and "Nexus 6 Vol.2" releases in *FLAC and also - I could re-sell *.ac3 5.1 audiotrack from original version of the movie (1982). For what purpose? Just mux-out 2 dialog layers, mix other 4 in stereo, and you'll get famous "FIC Release", but only "revisited" ;)

Hi everyone,

I've got a lossless version of BR and I don't know what version it is. I don't even know was it posted here before.

I will post the track list here first, and if everything going well, I could upload it tonight or in the next day.
Please, someone help me to found what version it is.

As far as I heard, it has no dialog. I don't know if there are any sound effect. Because you know, those electronic music sounds like sound effect as well, and I am not familiar to both the movie and the score. So I can't tell if those are sfx from the movie.

This version has sound effects from the film.... so far the BEST version of the score is the double disc created by Mr. Spider.... I have found it to be everything I desired back in 1982. Yet still I must say: "Vangelis, you are a jerk." I don't think ANY OTHER soundtrack in the history of soundtracks has produced so many bootlegs and had such a following.

Is the EMS Recombination getting a lossless release?

Yes. The masters are ready to be shipped to the "replication plant" in a manner of speaking. You should expect the official lossy preview on the other thread first, then the lossless deal will follow shortly.
Officially it was supposed to be 3 discs... but as it was mentioned before... I think you'll get "4... no... 2, 2, 4.. .. and noodles"
Noodles being some unreleased japanese music cues that were sampled in the movie. :)

The Sound Of Blade Runner has sound effects from the film.... so far the BEST version of the score is the double disc created by Mr. Spider.... I have found it to be everything I desired back in 1982.

You should definitely check the Blade Runner 2011 version as advised. That is the closest to a never released 1982 version of the soundtrack. ;)

Welcome back! ;)
Right now we are trying to figure out which Vincente's version is which...

The Sound Of Blade Runner 2008 Edition 2008
This is my personal review of Blade Runner music.

Basically it consists of a compilation of all the music that we can hear throughout the film, chronologically sorted. I've only added some little sound effects (no voices) taken from the same scene where the music sounds in order to create a continuous flow. You'll be able to hear subtles variations of well known themes with added extracts from the surround Dvd channels.
Nothing new, in fact, but for me a great oportunity to hear all the music in the film's way.

Specially difficult for me has been to create a version of Dangerous Days and Wounded Animals tracks. There's a lot of variations, including the last official BR trilogy that convert it in a little chaos.
I've tried to respect the film version but i asume that maybe people prefer longer Gongo or Bootleg versions. End titles are official 1994 version (for me the best sounding) and Main Titles are from final cut Dvd.

In Sushi Bar I've mixed "If I didn't Care" that it can briefly heard on rear channels of the scene.

Basically the sources of the music i've used proceed from the final cut an workprint DVDs with a few addition from the different musical sources (Gongo, Esper edition, Deck Art, outtakes...) in order to complete some tracks

I've mixed them using Audacity and Cool Edit Pro with a Creative Xfi 24 bit sound card at 48 kHz. Using music from different sources I've tried to normalize the sound but not manipulating it so much, trying in all cases to get the best quality.

I hope youll like it.

Vicente, Sat Jan 26, 2008

The Sound Of Blade Runner vol 1 2008
The Sound Of Blade Runner vol 2 2008
It consists in a "cronologically ordered" soundtrack without adding tracks or "alternate" music, with subtle sound effects and no voices at all. Actually, it tries to be a complete and strict musical version of the film.
Greetings.

An "enhanced" version of Esper enhancement track you can find on "The Sound of BR vol 1".

I hope you'll like it.

The Sound Of Blade Runner 2009 Edition 2009
Hi to everybody.

Adding some news to this amazing world of Blade Runner soundtrack I've made some changes to my personal review called "The sound of Blade Runner".

In this, more musical, new 2009 edition I've changed several tracks of my previous version cleaning the sound in some cases, making longer versions and trying to eliminate not desired sfx.

When possible I've chosen only the best lossless sources mixing them if necessary with unreleased parts, in this case in the best format i could find.

There are also some incidental unreleased music taken directly from the DVD sources.

Specially difficult for me has been the "Dangerous days -Wounded Animals" track mixing.

In the previous version i added some scene background effects like thunders or the "japanese" female voice in order to recreate the dark atmosphere.

This time I've rearranged all and now you'll listen to only music including the "cat howl " scene mixed with several parts of Wounded animals, Deckard And Roy's Duel and Dangerous days trying to respect the film sequence and without voices or sfx.
I've avoided the distorsioned bass sound parts of bootlegged "Wounded animals" in order to create a 10 min 15 sec "sound clear" version.

Most changes on this 2009 version are variations from 2008 edition but I think they worth it. Finally I've put all of this in three separate volumes with a new cover.

For those who downloaded the 2008 version i'll put an archive with only the new adds in rapidshare.

If somebody want the entire 2009 edition tell me and i'll give you the new rapidshare links.

Greetings.

Sound of Br 2009, is the same that i remixed a year ago in 2008
version. People who got it don't need to download again.

Greetings.

Vicente, Fri Mar 6, 2009

Well, first of all, thanks for your comments. I'm very happy knowing people who have listening and enjoying with my little contribution to our favourite soundtrack.

You should know I'm only an spanish guy from Barcelona with a domestic Pc, some music software and really devoted to Vangelis music. Maybe a little perfeccionist with sound quality and that's all.
Answering to Sbastien, I edit all the sound with Adobe Audition.
With DVD cues I use the typical cut, copy and mix paste, fade in and fade out tools. I don't like an excessive sound editing with stereo expansors, equalizers or similar (they usually get sound a little "dirty" ). Maybe a litlle amplification avoiding high pics distortion and if necessary a standard deHiss.

All those new musical cues who you can listening to in TSOBR 2009 come directly from surround channels of "The final cut" and "The workprint edition" Blue Ray and standard DVDs. I extract a 5.1 Wav only track
from each chapter with Eac3to and then I begin to work. I've noticed that non English film versions (Spanish in my case) have a very musical background rear channels with no voices or sound fx included. (i.e Morning at the Bradbury or Prodigal son brings death prologue).
I only have to choose different musical passages and edit them with Audacity, mixing then with the other musical sources i've used (mainly Original Gongo Bootleg, Trilogy, 1994 official cd and (what a pity) my only mp3 copy of BR suite Outtakes.

Originally TSOBR 2008 was a more "filmic" oriented version ( you'll specially find it in tracks like If I didn't care or Pris meets Sebastian) but lately i changed all to a more musical oriented suite. Nevertheless i've decided keeping some of those "atmospheric" 2008 tracks. Simply I liked them.

And answering to Mark, Why three Cds? Well, just a litlle caprice.
My personal Trilogy ;-).

Ok guys, thanks again. I'm waiting for more new surprises. Maybe from Vangelis this time?
Let's hope so

Greetings.

Today I've just made a little discover. I have found a special version of Manufactured skin and Taffy's club on the Blu Ray DVD soundtrack. I think that the main difference with the other versions is the absence of people voices (specially at Taffy's club ) and a little music variation (lenghth is practically the same). Maybe they're well known versions but I didn't find anywhere.

Quick question for you Vicente just to make sure: the only tracks you made changes to in the 2009 version are the eleven tracks included in the "2009 edits" downloads, the remaining tracks are identical to the 2008 version? I downloaded only the 2009 changes/additions and not the full version since I already have your 2008 version and didn't want to hassle with downloading something I already have. Thanks!

The Sound Of Blade Runner 2010 Edition 2010
Well, like I promised, is time for little news.

First of all, for people who got my previous TSBR editions, I've to say that there are only a few new adds this time but I think they worth it. I'll begin to put only the new one tracks here with a little explanation of changes in this new 2010 edition. Basically they are new sounds I've found searching in BR workprint and Blu-Ray edition.

I know they are minor changes but I think this is the way to spice things up a bit specially now there's no news about Vangelis and his music...

Greetings.

Vicente, Sun Jan 10, 2010

Well, This is the first add: 06 From Police Headquarters to Tyrell Co.

It's a new version from TSBR 2009 Tyrell Co., vol1 track 6. Now is 2' 28" long and you can listen to new Vangelis an ambient sounds located in police headquarters (interview with Deckard scene) now without any voices or distortion. Clear sound and in flac version.

This is the link : 06_From_Police_Headquarters_to_Tyrell_Co_.flac

Well, tomorrow another one...

Second track for this 2010 edition: (The seventh from disc 1)

Rachel new edit: Now you can hear amazing new Vangelis sounds hidden in surround channels from Workprint edition. Wait for the last seconds of this track...

Rachel_2010_edit.flac

Waiting for the new BR addition lately I put a new piece of my Grand Suite series for those who enjoy like me with Vangelis music and for people that are just discovering this great artist.
Here you are GRAND_SUITE_PART_8.mp3

Well, now is the time. The third add to TSBR is the fantastic "Chew's Lab" theme (11th track in TSBR vol 1). You all know that it appears with crystal clear sound in BR trilogy. That's why the only thing I've done with it's an enhanced mix with background sounds and Vangelis music effects that appear inside the surround channels. It seems the same track (only 15 seconds longer) but there's a lot of "hidden" new sounds that you'll discover if you pay attention. Look at the sound spectrum differences with original.

Not an spectacular addition but I like it. 11_Chew_s_Lab_2010.flac.

See you tomorrow.

Regards.

The best news is that our friend Jack will do the Cover art for this "definitive" version of TSBR. He put me some previews and I think it's an awesome work. In a few days all this stuff will be finished, don't worry.

The Sound Of Blade Runner Definitive Edition 2010
Ok, this is my last post with new music for TSBR project. I think all my contribution to this wonderful soundtrack is really over now. That's why I've decided to call it Definitive edition. With these four tracks you'll have my complete version. You all know my original idea was to compile a soundtrack with music in the way that we can hear inside the film and that's what I've been trying to do.

Last additions are four.

1. Pris Meets Sebastian : A re-edited version with BR blues intro and music inside Bradbury's building.

2. Dangerous days Raw version: Music directly extracted from Blu Ray 28 and 29 chapters. Minimal edition and only without human voices.

3. Wounded Animals Raw version: Music from BluRay, 30 to 33 chapters. Rain, lightning, doves and another sound effects but always with original film music.

4. TSBR intro: A brief introduction mixing some amazing BR Sounds TSBR intro

And now we only have to wait for the great Jack's contribution who is working onTSBR Definitive Edition covers.

I am inclined to think the version posted by JacKc should be the Definitive Edition while the one you upped on br2019 should be the 2010 edition... but we need to wait for Zhora's kind contribution to the current investigations to solve the mystery!

EDIT: Mystery solved. Both versions are Definitive Editions with JacKc's version presenting 2 longer unedited tracks compared to the ones officially posted on Yahoo! Group. So JacKc's 4 disc version is a Limited Edition of it while the version shared on the torrent is the official 3 disc 2010 edition a.k.a. Definitive Edition! :)

Did you take a look at the 2011 remastered version I posted? If you're looking for a Vangelis-only release with no sound effects on one cd, then that's what you should get.

I scrolled back a few pages but did not find anything called "Blade Runner 2011", thus I have to say: No.

It is curious how some of these bootleg-composites use the quasi-interpolations that Vangelis added to his release; such as Rachel's Song which is rather lame and didn't appear in the film. I just want the film's score. When the 25 Anniversary edition of the film came out, and Vangelis hopped on the band wagon to release a 3-disc score it seemed at last the music would be commercially available. Instead it was a rehash of one disc with dialogue, a second disc of 'some' additional music, and a third disc that is not only incomprehensible but doomed to be ejected out the closest window.

I scrolled back a few pages but did not find anything called "Blade Runner 2011".
Have a look here: http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/blade-runner-soundtracks-ultimate-thread-72496/23.html#post1680854
Not everything we know was ever released as lossless... and most gems are still among those very same pages. :)

Incidentally it is still stucked on my cd player from time to time!
It is different music than the one we might expect from the movie... Still... I like that too! ;)

I'll have to go through this thread as well. Seems there are some gems unseen in the lossy thread. Argh, somebody, retire me. I used the word lossy!

Beware of some glittering gems! Not everything that shines is what you might expect to be!

Good luck though! :)

Eh, that just mean i'll have to listen to some more BR music to get the good and discard the less-good. all in all, that's good, because I can't listen to too much blade runner music. Can't get enough. :)

So thank you, DC, Zhora, Zoran and all the others, for sharing these wonders.:D

Like I said EMS Recombination is the best way to go. All the music on the first two discs are only from the movie (no sfx or dialouge) and the 3rd disc has a few little unused tracks and one from that third disc of the anniversiry edition (Piano In an Empty Room). Once its uploaded in lossless I think it is the definitive BR custom soundtrack.

Back in 1982... long ago before the Internet, I called Polydor Records to ask what happened with the BR soundtrack and lack of release. The woman at the other end of the phone WHISPERED that Vangelis is a VERY difficult person and hence their hands were tied concerning this topic.

Matter of fact, there's a lot of unreleased Vangelis stuff. the guy is a perferctionnist, in the truest sense of the word: he is never, absolutely never satisfied with his work (I can understand him as I am a little bit like him as far as my work is concerned). Hence his sometime refusal to have it published, as he thinks it is not ready or good enough for a commercial exploitation. Now, the good thing is, Blade runner, as late and imperfect as it was, got two official releases. granted, there were a lot of stuff lacking from these, but they do exist, and that in itself is a feat as far as vangelis scores are concerned.

And then, we've got great people like Zhora, Zoran, DC and the various bootlegers who did the rest :D.

Ridley Scott Making Blade Runner 2 - Movies News at IGN (http://movies.ign.com/articles/118/1188867p1.html)
New Blade Runner movie, Lets speculate on the score. Would be nice change of pace.

As much as I love his music I hope he doesn't do the new score...why you ask? Because of his egomaniacal attitude the original score wasn't released until twelve years later and in my opinion it was botched leaving a lot of key cues out which is why so many bootlegs have popped up over the years.

I think Tangerine Dream should score the new version because they haven't scored a film in almost a decade and I think with their current lineup of members it would be phenomenal! But then again I am very biased. :D

Last night I was looking to a movie called "Trancers" and I went like: "Wow! This is a sort of Rick Deckard dealing with something other than replicants! How long before I can hope for a real Blade Runner related movie?
I was shocked by the similarities with the Theatrical version of the Blade Runner's private eye character, even if not as much when I had a chance to see the "Demon With A Glass Hand" episode from The Outer Limits series which had Blade Runner written all over it 18 years earlier.
Then I actually learnt of something like 5 other sequels to "Trancers" and after going through the whole saga I was actually pondering that whatever Alcon might have in mind they would have needed at least the same visionary director if not the same actors.
Everyone has aged since the original shootings but I guess if they are going for a sequel a tie with Deckard at least might be a nice idea.
For a prequel that will be quite hard to put on screen with the same actors.
But I hope they will make something good out of it... and without too much computer post processing to the scenes they intend to put on screen. Somehow I tend to agree with what Harrison Ford has stated about the latest Hollywood productions lately: they lost a grip on what is real and what could be made seen as real without focusing more on the action of the movie... as it did happen with Blade Runner in a way.
But that is up to everyone's tastes perhaps...
A balance between the two different schools is to be preferred in my opinion.
Let's hope Vangelis itself will provide to the background music! ;)

THE VANGELIS UNOFFICIAL OFFICIAL BOOTLEG THREAD [LOSSLESS AND NON-LOSSLESS]

Well, the title says it all. It did not make much sense adding the Vangelis related music to the Blade Runner related threads. Even if I hate having to check different threads every time I log into FFS, I have to reckon that this is the best way to avoid confusion and having it all in the same section. There you can post the music that never made it to official release or the one that is long out-of-print if you wish. Feel free to contribute as you might see fit! :)

This is one of the first alternate recordings avalible on the CD format, limited to only 2000 copies, and thankfully a factory pressed disc by DISCTRONICS USA, as stated in the CD matrix (located around the spindle hole of the disc) **WTG01**/121628-R2-3343-2. This recording, issued by OFF WORLD MUSIC/OWM-9301, pretty much has all but two cues; "ogi no mato" by Ensemble Nipponia and Morning at the Bradbury. The sound quality, well I would go for the 1994 Warner Brothers' commercial release for that, remember we're dealing with "Alternate Recordings" here and they should be treated as such. All an all, I rate the packaging and sound of this CD = 7 out of 10.

Notes :

1-13 Bitter Moon Suite (42:03)

14-20 Blade Runner Suite (26:19)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments :

"Bitter Moon is a beautiful score‚ and most of the music can be listened to perfectly without the images and enjoyed completely. Some of the themes are really beautiful. For example‚ the main theme‚ repeated with variations through parts 1‚ 4 and 10‚ the accordion theme you can hear on part 3 (That somehow makes me think of Paris) and the romantic and inspired part 13 (End credits?). Some of the music‚ however‚ sounds more incidental‚ but stands very well on its own too. Part 12 starts with an dance-arab-like song and then continues with a techno rhythm pattern (Is that really Vangelis?). There's also a jazz song on part 2 (I'll ask again: Vangelis?) [No. That's Fever by Peggy Lee, at least the first part of the song] and some jazzy and dark passages. Since I haven't seen the movie I don't know if the music is well ordered or not. Sound FX from the movie can be heard alltrough the suite‚ and sometines become annoying. Even sometimes the FX andthe music grow suddenly giving you a start. Despite this little defects‚ sound quality is very good and the music in quite enjoyable.

The Blade Runner suite could be interesting in its moment but now‚ with all that Blade Runner releases out there has become a bit obsolete‚ but harmless anyway."

I have just found a small problem with Pendor's 2010 Remastered version of 'Los Angeles, November 2019'. There is a small glitch at around 2:38 of track 9.
Not sure who to ask, but would it be possible to get a corrected upload of this track please?
Thanks again for making these files available to everyone.

Whatever you are going to check... please do leave out the Esper versions from every effort... that is slighty maimed and not-properly-edited... and the original had lots of problems as well.
You will notice the first milliseconds missing for example...
I have done an analog pass via Culture Vulture MV of a corrected version a while ago... in due time I will upload that to supply a valid alternative to the original even if that is technically a remaster.

Do not attempt to compare the Retirement version... that has whole sections missing! :)

The originals were uploaded in the lossy thread a while ago... THOSE ARE THE ONLY ORIGINAL SOURCES MADE AVAILABLE! Everything that came after that was sourced from those...

Hi Guilli and DC,
I have uploaded another fix for track 9. This time it sounds right. It differs from Guilli's latest version (just posted), for this reason.
The glitch in the original version at about 2.38 needed to be sorted out. The low, slowly repeating sound during that part is a sample loop that is repeated RHYTHMICALLY. My version better maintains the rhythm of this loop. In this 2nd upload I also fixed a pop at roughly 2.24 aswell.
So here is my, (hopefully), final version. I think it flows better from a musical standpoint.

...I think it flows better from a musical standpoint.

As long it stays in the frames count needed to burn an audio cd it's fine... I did several tiny additions of this kind when I dealt with it... but I fear that this kind of editing might generate a click when getting to the start of track 10... unless you generate a new cuesheet of the whole cdimage.
1000 milliseconds corresponds to 75 frames... and everything must stay within the frames (which is very tricky to say the least)... let's say you edited in 38 milliseconds... the closest value to 3 frames is 40 milliseconds... the 2 missing milliseconds will generate a click unless you apply a little crossfade between the two tracks if you want to retain the rest of the tracks untouched... and that is the big problem with the whole Los Angeles release from a mastering point of view...

Not even the original mix took that into account perhaps... and that's why not even the mp3 encode will join perfectly when properly decoded.

Zhora

Not even the original mix took that into account perhaps... and that's why not even the mp3 encode will join perfectly when properly decoded.
I consider the original mix to be fatally flawed and propose that we edit it to SOUND the best with little regard to the original release. Generate a new cue sheet and be done with it lol.
Thanks for your advice DC and thank you Guilli for your upload. I will, (for my own entertainment), make a Zhora mix of this disc. I'll upload it in case anyone is interested in a very slightly alternative version. I may take a few days.

There are some differences to the first cd of it I got. The track "Piano Memories" no longer has the messy Esper scene samples that ruined it the first time. The front cover has the word Electric spelt properly, (instead of ElectricAL Sheep), but the back cover still has many spelling errors. the disc label is also different in that it actually says 2019 Edition on this one.

From the Tangerine Dream newsletter:

"In some countries, like in the USA, TANGERINE DREAM are much more known through their immense work of MOVIE SCORES they did especially in the 80ies.
TANGERINE DREAM recently got some offers for scoring movies again - and think that they will decide for one or the other, but this takes time, so don't expect results too fast. :-)"

A score for the new 'Blade Runner' movie perhaps? Who knows...
Would be great!

Los Angeles, November 2019 (2011 Remastered)...

...

Differences with the previous versions?

Shall we dispose of the previous versions at this point?

Don DC...

I just got my second copy of the Expanded Score CD (2019 Edition).
There are some differences to the first cd of it I got. The track "Piano Memories" no longer has the messy Esper scene samples that ruined it the first time.

Thanks for the sharing it... it seems the maker(s) decided to make different versions of this... though this latest version is pretty interesting for the Piano Memories track.

Also thanks for the rest of the auction stock shares! :)

Vale tambin decir que las ediciones 2010 bien, pueden ser guardadas como recuerdo, desechadas guardadas (conscientemente...) como basura!

Ok! Thanks! Cannot get rid of the other seven different editions I am having though... but I will be keeping this new one well up-front! Looks like being the more complete to date! ;)

Did you work on the original APE cdimage ripped by Krok?

<a target="_blank" href="http://img192.imageshack.us/i/immagineoriginal.jpg/">

This is the original intro for track one from the mpeg's posted in 2003 by Homer J. Simpsoy & Krok while the intro on the APE version (made from the same mpeg's) was cleverly edited out to spot the difference with the original mp3's perhaps! :)

That's what Guilli was referring to when he decided to re-release the album... but your version is fine anyway!
More in the Esper vein that followed after the original Esper and Los Angeles 2019 releases!

Thanks very much Zhora! :)

Hi DC,
I make no claims of doing anything at all clever with the version I uploaded last. I simply took the 2010 remastered version from Pendor, I think, split it into seperate tracks from the cue sheet using XLD on the Mac. Then removed the part of track 9 that was irritating me and crossfaded the track back together at a place that makes sense rhythmically. Then swapped the original track 9 with my edit. I checked the playback between tracks was still smooth and sent it in. It is only meant as an optional alternative and I mean no disrespect to yours or Guilli's valuable restoration work.
Cheers mate.

Your version is perhaps more valuable than the original from my point of view... Also better than the original since yours is nicely fixed... even compared to the version previosly fixed by Pendor. You did a good job on that. "Respect!" As my hip pop friends would say! :)

I was just curious to know the source for your work since you haven't mentioned it... which is the original APE cdimage then.

It just happened by chance that we discovered the missing intro on the audio that has been shared since 2003.
I do not know why the makers did so... I can only guess that they wanted to know which version was which because of some people marketing their works on eBay perhaps.

And that is the reason of the latest fix by Pendor, also thanks to everybody's contributions!

I'm proud of ya all guys! ;)

So.............if I burn the new track 9 with the Retirement version tracks, is this the best sounding version? All the other versions of LA 2019 are Ape or one track flac (with Cue) files and the only seperate track version seems to be the Retirement version. Should this version be avoided when replacing track 9? If so, how can I replace track 9 from the other sources available? Lordy, I'm getting confused!

dadadacicici
09-02-2011, 09:51 PM
DON'T DO THAT PLEASE!!!!!!!! :(

The Esper Retirement version is not really a good sounding version... plus lots of sections were edited out... just the opposite that Zhora and Pendor have been doing really...

I am inclined to think that the FLAC version on eMule was sourced from a lower generation of mp3's since the spectrum is lower there... the original APE version was sourced from the original MPEG share...

If you get both the latest Zhora or Pendor versions below they have already taken care of everything needed for a proper burning... using the best source available.

Burn with no pause in between tracks. Same as the original APE version but with some necessary fixes added.

Various Artists / Los Angeles, November 2019 (2011 Remastered) fixed by Pendor
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4YILCX8Z
It's a cdimage. Same as the original mix perhaps. It has lots of fixes and a different/corrected indexing for the tracks.

Both these were possibly sourced from the only version that was ever shared... (if not a re-encode from one of the former fake lossless versions as it has been suggested)
You can find it here in its original form:
Thread 72496

If you want to apply the fix to all the versions on the Esper Retirement, MR3 and everything... you need to do the job that Zhora and Guilli have been doing for all the different editions... track 9 of one version is not going to match with another version because of the differences in amplitude, indexing, choice of editing and everything else.

Just use the fixed versions as posted above and you'll never regret the cd's you are going to burn! Trust the men! :)

Thanks DC, just not sure how to splice the track into the ape file etc! Oh, just had a thought. The new files are the whole disk with new track 9?

If you need to splice the tracks into the APE file you will have to decompress to Wav first. Then using Medieval Cue Splitter (http://www.medieval.it/cuesplitter-pc/menu-id-71.html) you can splice the file into separate tracks if you wish. Always remember to burn the cd with no pause in between tracks if you have done so. :)

And yes, both links redirect to a full version of the L.A. November 2019 album! ;)

Hi everybody,
Zhora here. I can't access this site under my old account for whatever brilliant reason. If anyone can help with this that would be great.

To Terry Sci-Fi and anyone else. The Los Angeles November 2019 fixed folder that I sent last is the entire album fixed. You do NOT need to replace track 9 in your old version. This is the entire album ready to burn. The same goes for Guilli's version also.

Notes :

This is my personal review of Blade Runner music.

Basically it consists of a compilation of all the music that we can hear throughout the film, chronologically sorted. I've only added some little sound effects (no voices) taken from the same scene where the music sounds in order to create a continuous flow. You'll be able to hear subtles variations of well known themes with added extracts from the surround Dvd channels.
Nothing new, in fact, but for me a great opportunity to hear all the music in the film's way.

Specially difficult for me has been to create a version of Dangerous Days and Wounded Animals tracks. There's a lot of variations, including the last official Blade Runner trilogy that convert it in a little chaos. I've tried to respect the film version but I assume that maybe people prefer longer Gongo or Bootleg versions. End Titles are official 1994 version (for me the best sounding) and Main Titles are from final cut Dvd.

In Sushi Bar I've mixed "If I Didn't Care" that it can be briefly heard on rear channels of the scene.

Basically the sources of the music I've used proceed from the final cut and workprint DVDs with a few addition from the different musical sources (Gongo, Esper edition, Deck Art, Outtakes...) in order to complete some tracks.

I've mixed them using Audacity and Cool Edit Pro with a Creative Xfi 24 bit sound card at 48 kHz. Using music from different sources I've tried to normalize the sound but not manipulating it so much, trying in all cases to get the best quality.

I hope you'll like it.

"It consists in a "cronologically ordered" soundtrack without adding tracks or "alternate" music, with subtle sound effects and no voices at all.
Actually, it tries to be a complete and strict musical version of the film."

"It's, basically, a chronological ordered music version of the film taken from different sources, without dialogues and with the minimal sfx."

Comments :

This is stage one of five work in progress renditions to get to a definitive vision of the Blade Runner soundtrack. More than two years in the making with subtle yet effective changes when moving to the next stage, this release is to date one of the best sounding approaches to the unreleased Vangelis cues used in the movie. It appears that it was soon decided to move to a different solution than the mixed approach as used in the Esper edition perhaps, and that approach seems to be the generally accepted vision of this release. Here's the original idea behind the concept. Unfortunaly an official tracklisting, which might have been originally supposed to act like an ideal cuesheet, never reached us. Only by sheer chance the original FLAC's made it to us.
For this we are indebted to Xavier who preserved this safely on disc.
If you give something you get something back as it is always the case.
Our gratitude for sharing back this. The original had the first track way too low in gain. Since this was ready corrected with a fresh start in the stage that soon followed, it was decided to retain the fixed version as intended by the maker with the unmixed version that came after this.
Synaptyx was here recalled to his former duty since he had already taken care of the graphics for the initial stage of the unmixed version that followed short after.
Thanks for the prompt artwork to the release!

A wee question to the men who know: Was there a reason there was never a lossless EMS Recombination made available?

dadadacicici

That's a good question indeed... let me think some proper excuse for the occasion... let's see... I'm googling the word excuse but nothing good except for a vet gone to see a man about a dog is coming out... I have to admit I am pretty clueless...

All right... let me find something to distract people's attention from the real answer until something springs to mind... no... I am not a politician... not good at telling lies pretending it is the true...

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rWu9Py2Ylzk/TDuHQ4h0d5I/AAAAAAAAABU/kjwjTQ03z_w/s1600/lie.gif
...neither I am a good actor... at least a very talented one... one of those that can really lie to you and make you crying... so I must tell you all the truth... or better the part I know of it...

It was actually shared as a very limited download only version... mainly for friends lovers and family, non-professionally printed and physically traded for some of the other editions that were eventually shared here and when the right time came to share it officially in lossless format the idea of making it better came out our hats so to speak.
So for the lossless release it was chosen to make it better and after some re-workings and better edits (also thanks to the other sources that have been gathered in the meanwhile and the help of some members here) time passed until this very month... or at least the very next month when the lossless will be finally posted!
And this is really the only good reason we can give not to have it posted here yet. I trust we might be forgiven in a month or so! :)

Today I've just made a little discover. I have found a special version of Manufactured skin and Taffy's club on the Blu Ray DVD soundtrack. I think that the main difference with the other versions is the absence of people voices (specially at Taffy's club ) and a little music variation (lenghth is practically the same). Maybe they're well known versions but I didn't find anywhere.

Greetings.

Vicente, Tue Mar 10, 2009

Quick question for you Vicente just to make sure: the only tracks you made changes to in the 2009 version are the eleven tracks included in the "2009 edits" downloads, the remaining tracks are identical to the 2008 version? I downloaded only the 2009 changes/additions and not the full version since I already have your 2008 version and didn't want to hassle with downloading something I already have. Thanks!

Christian, Wed Mar 11, 2009

Message #3118

Yes, it's ok. I've put them separately for those people who had the 2008 version. You should only add (or replace) Taffy's and Manufactured Skin I added yesterday. These are a really new addition (for me too)

Greetings.

For those who want to know something more about Vangelis... not only Blade Runner: Vangelis Grand Suite Part 5

Vicente, Mon Nov 9, 2009

Message #3333

Off topic...Vangelis related, of course. Vangelis Grand suites.

This is one of the 9 little "Grand Suites" that I mixed while working on "The sound of Blade Runner" project.

I'll put the other ones little by little...

Regards.

Vicente

Message #3414

The next track is not one of the main themes of BR but I think it's very Vangelis style one. It's the small "I'm the Bussiness" theme now with a new introduction.
Tell me if you like it.

Today two tracks.

The first contents a new piano introduction of Unicorn dream taken from Workprint and Director's cut editions. The other one is an extended "Deckard enters the Bradbury" that ends with musicbox sounds and whispers before Pris death but without any voices or screams added.

Next track is an extended film version of " Rachel sleeps ", now 3' 45'' long and with a windy introduction like you can hear while Rachel is sleeping (not while Roy Batty is waving goodbye, Mr Rousseau). Enjoy it and please, tell me something about these new adds, I'm a little sad these winter days and I need some positive feedback. ;-).

The best news is that our friend Jack will do the Cover art for this "definitive" version of TSBR. He put me some previews and I think it's an awesome work. In a few days all this stuff will be finished, don't worry.

Here you are Rachel Sleeps: Rachel_sleeps_2010_ed.flac

Best regards

Thanks Vincente, for this wonderful work.
It has been very interesting following the progress. Both hearing the tracks, but also reading about how you made them.
I already have a folder... The Vincente Blade Runner Edition, a title I think I keep since I think there are a lot of versions out there called Definitive.

Thanks Mark. I agree with you abot the "definitive" title but in my case I can say that is true... at least until a new Scott's and Vangelis Blade Runner version. Maybe in 2019? Who knows...

Thanks again Mark and enjoy music!

I am inclined to think the version posted by JacKc should be the Definitive Edition while the one you upped on br2019 should be the 2010 edition... but we need to wait for Zhora's kind contribution to the current investigations to solve the mystery!

Hi DC

I am almost totally confused now ;)
On JacKc's 'Black & White Workprint' version the first track TSOBR Intro is 3:29 long, but on Vicente's '2010 definitive' version it is only 0:51.
Am I missing something here?

No... it is not you missing something... it is almost everybody including me... All the Vicente's releases are sitting on my desktop but I still have not found the time to make out a sense out of them.
I have pratically checked all the messages he left on Yahoo and I might be able to sort that mystery out... I intend to do so for a master post on the lossy thread anyway. JacKc was kindly sent a copy, so the one he has uploaded should be the definitive edition (call it black & white or workprint as I was erroneously believing), while the one posted by Synaptyx on br2019.com should be the 2010 edition since he got it before JacKc.
This is the only thing I know for sure but I need to triple-check everything on the files I am having and which were posted as the project progressed. I'll get back with the relative infos to add on our back-ups soon. :)

Notes :

2011 started with the release of Blade Runner: EMS Recombination; a team
effort to create a Blade Runner soundtrack as clean as possible, without F/X
and dialogue for fans to enjoy. On its release the soundtrack was well
received, spawning numerous other compilations. However the work didn't stop
there.

For the lossless release, the EMS Team wanted to offer something a little
different and not just repackage the original version. Changes were made to
the running order and tracks were reworked as other sources were found.
Extended versions of "At Mr. Chew's" and "Desolation Path" were created along
with new tracks "Waiting For Zhora" and "Memories Of Green/Blade Runner
Blues". With the help of some new friends, the EMS Team are proud to
present for the first time a clean version of "Thinking Of Rachel".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments :

Blade Runner EMS Recombination is an own attempt to create a Best of
soundtrack from all the available bootlegs of Vangelis' superb score.

The selection criteria was very simple: find the pieces that represented the
film score in their cleanest (without dialogue and sfx as much as was
possible) versions and be of the best available sound quality. It kept most
of the titles of the source tracks only changing a few as some had some
obscure titles not immediately obvious to the wider audience.

I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did while making this compilation

To all our friends who have been patiently awaiting this release. As Jack has previously posted, which I hopefully won't need to repeat verbatim, enjoy these discs responsibly. This is the result of a lot of hard work, especially from DC and Jack and I would hate to see this exploited for unscrupulous commercial gain.

On Disc 2 take care of adding the song in the correct order since some burning software might attempt to burn the tracks according to the numerical value than the order you intend for them... ;)

I can't praise high enough this release - after 30 years of waiting finally a complete version in crystal clear sound, nearly complete, and without f/x or dialogues ! That is really a miracle...Some of you may know this site: Blade Runner: The Complete Music Collection (Page 1) - focuspuller - February 12, 2008 at 5:09 PM - originaltrilogy.com forum (http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Blade-Runner-The-Complete-Music-Collection/topic/9053/) where a guy named Focuspuller announced a similar release nearly four years ago but nothing ever really materialized - after a few months it was clear that this was simply a fanboy fantasy, but on that board you shouldn't dare to say something like this because you really get pissed on by other members who still believe that this will be really released (no sign after four years ? Come on....). So it was really a wonder to get this here....my deepest congratulations on your work, I don't think that any further release can top this...

Thanks, glad you like our work. Having been so close to the project for over a year now, sometimes you need to step back and smell the roses, so I'm listening to it again at the moment without my EMS hat on and I am impressed as ever by the work done by my EMS colleagues DC and Jack.

Regards, Zhora.

Lately I am trying to make sense off what I gathered through the years and I have asked Zhora to have a link for the version he was having for the Esper MR3.

About the links posted:
#1 - The first one is the same as Disc 1 from the MK2. A log for the rip is missing but it could be found on another rip* for the MR3. The waveforms do not match obviously.

#2 - The second disc is from Disc 2 from the MR3 as we know it. The log is present and it is from the same rip* for the MR3. Same waveform.

#3 - The third disc I cannot tell which is which. No log was ever posted for that.
As far as I know the version on the MR3 should have a +8db rise in gain after the initial esper machine noises at 0:20 sec.
Perhaps the original MR3 did not have Disc 3 modified, perhaps some ebay seller tampered with that and that's how we knew that... but unless someone is coming out with an original... that's it.
I tend to believe the modified version is the MR3 version... so the version posted on link 3 is closer to the original Esper version of the LA 2019 disc from 2003.

#4 - Disc 4 was exclusive to the MR3 release so that is what it states. It contains the same glitchy track 13 as we all have it.

About disc 4: the only version (which I have on mp3) that does not have problems on track 13 has disc 1 from the MK2 version and disc 3 from the 2003 version of the LA 2019 album. Same source as the one posted above by Zhora it seems.

What I am doing is layering the full decompressed wav's of everything including the decoded mp3's versions of them and get rid once for all of all the junk if possible... but unless the makers come out in the open... there is no way to solve this except from what we might guess from what was left us...

Not that is being that important. I have re-done everything from sctratch about the Esper releases and got something different... but that will have to wait a bit...

Thanks very much for the links Zhora! :)

These are the complete stages of the five work in progress renditions to get to a definitive vision of the Blade Runner soundtrack. More than three years in the making with subtle yet effective changes when moving to the next stage, this release is to date one of the best sounding approaches to the unreleased Vangelis cues used in the movie. It appears that it was soon decided to move to a different solution rather than the initial mixed approach as used in the Esper edition perhaps, and that approach seems to be the generally accepted vision of this release. The original titles as intended by the maker were retained.
For a more detailed "making of" of the different editions see also the messages that accompanied the releases as a testimony of the spirit that animated the whole Blade Runner Soundtrack Yahoo! Group at the time.

When The Sound Of Blade Runner Definitive Edition 2010 was ultimated, the maker as part of a personal thank you to friends and people who contributed to the project also with their support, sent out a limited set of the release which included a special bonus disc along with some last moment changes and unedited versions of some of the cues officially posted on the Yahoo! group.

I am almost totally confused now ;)
On JacKc's 'Black & White Workprint' version the first track TSOBR Intro is 3:29 long, but on Vicente's '2010 definitive' version it is only 0:51.
Am I missing something here?

Even if they are not exactly the same, they are the same releases essentially. Only differences on what I will be referring to as the Limited Edition, is that it has some tiny little details (very minimal) on 2 tracks and 2 different edits of the same songs... however it did include a fourth bonus disc exclusive to this release which was omitted from the official posts on Yahoo and BR2019.

Differences with JacKc's version and the torrent posted on www.br2019.com are as follow:

The Sound Of Blade Runner Intro (Full Length Version) 3:29
The Sound Of Blade Runner Intro 0:51

Rachel (there is a stronger change in volume at 1m 12s)
Rachel

Tears in the rain (rainy edit) (there is a softer change in volume at 0m 55s)
Tears in the rain (rainy edit)

Dangerous Days Raw (Full Length Version) 2:47
Dangerous Days Raw 2:18

So basically JacKc's version has two longer edits (or better two longer unedited versions).

The rest of the songs are exactly the same down to the frame. So we want to keep the more detailed Limited Edition for posterity.

These are the different edits of the official version... (the archive also includes the outtakes and the grand suites):
The Vicente Blade Runner Edition 2007-2010 - Part 1 (http://www.mediafire.com/?55qs03mw343sh53)
The Vicente Blade Runner Edition 2007-2010 - Part 2 (http://www.mediafire.com/?5h74e9vo6xqnmqz)

For The Sound Of Blade Runner 2010 Edition Vicente made some major changes to eight tracks compared to the previous 2009 version. With the last four additions that followed shortly after the 2010 Edition the project turned into The Sound Of Blade Runner Definitive Edition... also according to the maker's choice for a better name to reflect the latest changes. ... and that was the last chapter for the Vicente's Blade Runner Edition.

A special thank you to Zhora, JacKc, Synaptyx and Xavier for the help given in re-assembling something that seemed to have gone lost in hd crashes and forgotten backups.

NB: You do not need to re-download the whole thing again! You only need to rename the archives you have already downloaded if you please. ;)

A more complete and detailed lossy backup on Vicente's work will follow soon on Thread 72496.

For a detailed "making of" of the different editions see also the http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/do-androids-dream-lossless-audio-files-blade-75274/24.html#post1758230 notes on the post. I have included them also in the additional links anyway.

There were surely different edits of the same tracks as the editing work proceeded but this is what it was made official.

The sample rate on most of the tracks vary between 44.1 KHz cd quality and 48 KHz dvd quality.
The bit-depth is 16 bit except 07 Taffy's club.flac which is 24 bit.

In order to successfully burn a copy of it you have to re-sample all tracks to 44 KHz and dithering to 16 bits the Taffey's Club track last. Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) will be all right for the purpose.
CDArchitect will do that on the fly even in demo mode... Always decompress from flac to wav first, resample to 44 KHz and then dither to 16 bits on the files needed.

For more detailed instructions see below:

If your PC soundcard is not supporting bitrates bigger than 16 bit it might not open or play the file at all... I have a professional soundcard so for me it is a lot easier... the whole The Sound Of Blade Runner release needs to be dithered from 24 to 16 bits and resampled from 48 to 44 kHz on most of the tracks. Either you are fluent with audio editors either you will get into some troubles to burn that...
CDArchitect will do that on the fly even in demo mode...

Let's see... first you need to re-sample all tracks to 44 KHz. At least the ones at 48 KHz. For the purpose check this:
r8brain (http://www.voxengo.com/product/r8brain/)

07 Taffey's club.wav is 24 bit and 48 KHz... so you need to dither the file to 16 bits as the last thing to do in the audio chain...

Audacity will show the actual sample rate but only the bit depth you have instructed the software to work.
Preferences --- quality --- default sample rate ---

If you install dBpoweramp you will get the correct resolution of every audio file when the mouse is passing on them if you like... I have it installed on every machine running windows...

YOU NEED TO DECOMPRESS THE FLAC TO WAV FIRST BECAUSE AUDACITY CANNOT HANDLE FLAC FILES!
It freeze my computer too if I try to import the 24 bit flac...

Decompress to wav first.

Export the file as wav. It will export a fully dithered 16 bit resolution file with dither on as specified in the setting in the Preferences --- quality --- panel...

Make sure you are working with copies of a file you intend to work since Audacity cannot handle unlimited undo's---

We cannot possibly thank enough Vicente for what he has achieved.

Somehow his work went lost for most younger peers.

I just felt to re-post this for the historical value that his work has.

His work meant a lot to the new replicant peers on the block, as the work of Sebastian, Jamie, Chandler, Plimmy, Anita, Alvaro, Anthony Micele, and as the input of Antas, Steven, Bentley... the artworks of Synaptyx, JacKc and Pendor.
And the list goes on... you know who you are.

I just wanted to express our gratitude to Vicente for his work on the soundtrack making people aware of a project that is sounding as better as the ones you might end up buying on eBay perhaps... if not better.

I trust the people who understand the concept behind this release might appreciate what he did.

On behalf of most peers that simply came after everything was already shared.

Our belated "muchas gracias" to Vicente! :)

And I wholeheartedly thank you not to have quoted the hell out of the whole post! ;)

After having posted it I started having nightmares thinking someone might end up doing that!

And concerning The Sound Of Blade Runner Intro (Full Length Version) 3:29 you were referring... it was a "dedicated personal version" not even included in the Limited Version pictured above... once in a while it was this place to have all the luck for a change! :)

Vangelis's "To the Unknown Man" must have been dedicated to JacKc perhaps!

So, I now double my thank-you-very-much! ;)

Hi people.
I've noticed that 2 threads have vanished. The Blade Runner Related thread and the Vangelis thread.
Does anyone know what has happened and whether they will be back.

I think we might all need to update our bookmarks for the threads then....

DC,

your work has been amazing, thanks a lot for your dedication to Blade Runner.

Everyone owes a lot to the makers of these compilations and reworks, BUT let us not forget the middleman DC for such great distribution without whom a lot of us would never have heard this wonderful music.

THANK YOU.

I wondered if you will be sharing some of the details regarding the process of putting this together? I for one will find that interesting...

I second this. Details please!

When I was asked to join this project I was astounded by what B5 was wanting to achieve with his first compilation. I already knew Jack for his excellent graphic skills after having stumbled on FFS during the usual searches for my preferred soundtrack. I was working on a partial restoration of the sources on tape and once we got to exchange some different opinions on what we both wanted to achieve, Jack kindly offered to free me from the task of making the covers (I don’t have all the time in the world to learn everything I’m afraid) leaving me more time to concentrate on the audio. It will have to be thanks to him that at an idle stage of our interest for the Blade Runner matter all his covers will stay on our homemade cd cases. (I'm afraid we cannot all be the limited number of lucky collectors that afforded the originals...) and Jack’s work on that along with Synaptyx, Pendor and the rest is something to praise. B5 was exceptionally good in planning the overall plot to which me and Jack added the extra details. He is also good at what he writes actually. That was where he took his nickname if you can keep the secret!
Something that has been lying right there in front of everybody. Someone had surely picked up a best of every-other-bootleg around, like 1187hunterwasser did on page 3 of the ultimate thread in compiling a list that went to be the inspiration for a release called 29th anniversary that will be eventually posted on FFS. Also Donnor has done a great job in isolating the unreleased tracks on his blog that ended up becoming the inspiration for the maker of the 2019 edition. Something very similar to the EMS called Chinatown Club (a compilation contemporary to it) ended up being re-shaped in its concept according to what was done on the EMS 2010.
The EMS cleverly used the best of the best sources around at the initial stage of compiling. The “Chinatown Club” had something different though. A more cinematic feel perhaps. At least I saw that as the difference I wanted to make to the maker's original concept (a nice peer named Zelmo Swift) when I was asked to help with the edits on that. Hopefully it sits in a different direction now. I believe the main credit of the EMS project is to have seen through the different sources and the work of others to shape a perfect sounding version of the soundtrack and somehow that was achieved in the concept that B5 has given to the release.
As B5 has pointed out: "The selection criteria was very simple: find the pieces that represented the film score in their cleanest (without dialogue and sfx as much as was possible) versions and be of the best available sound quality. It kept most of the titles of the source tracks only changing a few as some had some obscure titles not immediately obvious to the wider audience."

When we finally id'ed one of the japanese sources (also thanks to the input of 1187hunterwasser and Donnor) the idea of a the bonus disc was developed giving the release that more cinematic approach that I was furthering in the making of a release called Ultimate MR3. We went a bit lost at this stage since we had to actually create something that was not immediately there this time. B5 was busy balancing EMS duties with his real life job and I was feeling lost from the sudden passing of my hardware. It took more to shape the bonus disc than the rest of it in a way.
I found myself working at four different projects at the same time, messing things up among these and losing track of the notes and edits done for each one. All the suggestions made on the Yahoo soundtrack group were taken verbatim and for that I have to thank Chandler from the Grey Fedora team. Vicente and Sebastian work was taken into great account too, as the work by Anthony Micele on some of the edits we borrowed his ideas. The list goes on up to the Esper makers and the Shimato Dominguez Corporation for the Off World edition. All the different versions were analyzed and all waveforms compared to check for anything quirk. I had already started doing this for some work on the master tapes I did some short time before. In the making I ended up re-doing the whole Esper releases and being able to fix most of the faulty tracks on some releases thanks to the FIC sources that were used for the Mmoires series and Asian Worlds releases. Once you know the sources the rest is editing and sequencing. And there are only three. The movie audio streams (the FIC source being the stereo mix of the dubs), the master tapes (the outtakes being the fully mastered cues) and the official 1994 and 2007 releases. The sources that did not comply with the correct pitch posed a major problem, and most of the people that worked on Blade Runner material know of the +4% curse of most of the music in order to be used for the movie. There is something called time stretching when working on different analogue audio sources and those algorithms take up hours when working on large portions of audio but that was accomplished when doing something else while patiently waiting for the output. I would grow mad and I would curse when realizing a silly mistake in the elements for the calculations... but that is the way when working on anything... trial and error until it gets closer to what you are expecting. B5 and Jack have a word for that... but as pointed out... no one is perfect... that's why pencils have erasers. Two computers passed away without warning and in between that a couple of hard disk drives said goodbye without a second call. Somehow I was able to retrieve most of the data I needed for the projects I was working on and ended up buying also an external 250 GB HD to make sense of all of this, but everything about the making of things went messed up and cannot tell which is which or how I got to that stage even if the final results are sitting here waiting to find the right time to make an useful sense of it. Presets used now are something for the FBI computer experts only to try to make a sense out of it. After the EMS 2010 was out a limited set of copies were traded and shared and thanks to that we were able to add some extra sources we only had in a poor quality until that day, so I ended up re-editing them with better quality sources tweaking the hell out of them to make sense in making sitting them in the same disc. You tell if I got it right or not, but that was the best I could get out of what we had. If Vangelis will step up on earth again after gazing for a last time at us from mount Olympus he will make sense of everything we did wiping everything else out with a snap of a finger like lightning! Until that that was the best we could achieve. Lots of editing went on between what B5 visualised as the finished concept for it and what I was apparently seeing.
I was simply making an extension to what I was working to at the time (the Ultimate MR3) and in hindsight B5 was right. Jack ended to be the inspiration for lots of the added material with his ideas and somehow was caught in between since we all had our ideas for that and did not want to waste one either... so it took all the time it took us to finish off the last details since May 2011 when almost everything was ready for the first 3 discs.
What was not yet available was done, what had to be made better was done along what was already made by Vicente, Chandler, Plimmy, Sebastian, Jamie, Antas, Zyzz and so on. If you can't beat them try to sound like them. Disc 1 to 3 is the same music you have been always hoping for in a way. The bonus disc is a different angle of the japanese cues used in the movie. And for different angle I mean it.
The original sources were remixed so to enhance some of the aspects buried in the official view of the movie.
Some of the original 1992 version was eventually retained since the new 2007 version has been changing things in a drastic way (and not always as satisfactory way). Also the workprint version was used as you might hear.
The list of the sources is including all the infos that you might need, but as responsible for most of the edits most tracks were quite re-enhanced and re-worked, denoised and changed compared to the original sources, that I now lost track of what was done. A final note must go along the Spiderwalk's Complete score sources since while working on all the sources gathered I found myself in stepping back to the original sources used by the maker (25th anniversary edition) to achieve longer or different fades. B5 got them from there anyway. It remains another best of sources matter of fact. Props to the maker. The sources are here anyway. Lots of work has been done on “Thinking of Rachel” alone. When B5 mentioned the idea of something clean anyone would have never expected the version we came up with in the end. I had already made an edit for the “Chinatown Club” but those distracting elements from the movie (which I did not mind at all) were still there even if the idea of a cleaner version with Morrisey saxophone was one of B5’s wishes for the EMS from day one. I pretty hate denoisers since the very first time I used an analogue one in a recording studio, but Anita and Zyzz pretty changed my view seeing what they did. Anita is the maker of The Tales Of The Future release and Zyzz is the maker of the Blade Runner 2011 restored remastered edition. What you hear is a combined edit of the various tries by the people involved in the restoration process. Everything was then pasted by the frame and ready to be mastered for the EMS release. The master track was achieved from more than 4 GB's of data anyway and no way I could possibly re-do that. That was like the Director’s cut in a way... trial and errors until it got to that stage. The cleaning up of the Myagi song was a bit of a nightmare since it was a transfer from a very old vinyl and once you get rid of the defects of your original the defects of the original source used comes forward... Basically the original master was a vinyl transfer itself... I’m hoping a good master for it will be made available one day. It should be part of human patrimony... I wish Columbia might do that one day. As for me it took a whole month to fix a single song.
My original plan to restore all the vinyl became impossible because of time restrictions. If no one else does it, I would like to do that before I retire... For the Flute track and the Percussion track there was a lot of work also.
We had a preview of the isolated audio streams taken from the movie from Zyzz (whose work is to keep an eye on by the way) and I came up with the idea of layering a different mix the original elements partly removed from it to put back the spatial reference to the movie so to get the background music coming through as you would have never listened to because it was simply buried in the mix. Zyzz eventually decided not to include that cue on his release since he had chosen not to compromise on sound quality for his 2011 edition and B5 was gladly accepting that as a contribution while me and Jack tried to get the best of both worlds in doing what we ended up to use for the bonus disc. I hope we pleased everyone on that. We had our discussions and we chose to compromise on lots of things, but as time was passing by we had the chance to realize what was being done and naturally came to the solutions for our different ideas in the end. And I am glad we did. It was team work up to the last bit. Time helped a lot, giving us the time to focus on the smaller details in order to achieve what you now are holding. Longer unedited versions are floating around but will be used for the Ultimate MR3 along with the other reworks that did not make it on the official tracklist... I am not going to mention the box of shame we deserved for the artworks... Only when everyone was done with the audio testing we kept spotting errors that kept on returning after having been fixed once and re-appeared after changing things all over again. Jack had plenty of patience in re-touching everything readily. He gets all the credit for the best dress the EMS could hope for and useful suggestions he made all along.
And those are the words I have for these two wonderful chaps!
It was nice having you guys as partners in crime really! ;)

Hello,

iam new here and iam a big Blade Runner fan. I dont have any of this "Blade Runner bootlegs" because i thought they have a bad sound quality compared to the offical released soundtracks. Now i get interessting as i see this thread...

My question; is there a "collect post" of all this loseless "BR bootleg sounds" in 1 audioformat (FLAC) or i rly have to read and collect all the 29 sites? =(

APE is useless for me, many HiFi components start to support FLAC now (Onkyo, Yamaha etc.) the format go very popular now, but they cant read APE or some other exotic audioformats.

APE is useless for me... APE or some other exotic audioformats.

APE... useless... exotic???

You might want to try and decompress those 'useless' APE files back to 'useful' WAV files first then. That's what we all have to do when we want to burn the lossless files that are shared here on CD. Afterwards you can then compress back to FLAC, or to whatever audio format you like. There is free software available that will even convert from APE to FLAC in one go, e.g. foobar2000. Give it a try!

Hi,

yes oh i mean useless for ME. I dont have stand-alone equipment which can play these APE files, or my portable player which also cant play APE only FLAC. For me only the PC can play APE. Thats what i wanted to say. You guys are able to play these APE files elsewhere then on a Computer?

Look at Onkyo they have now new HiFi AMPs/Receiver with support for: (MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, LPCM) thats nice! So i thought this APE format is an exotic format, but iam not an expert with this formats. :-)

Greetings

BLADE RUNNER (Nexus6 version)
BLADE RUNNER (Omissis Records)

Help...

I'm afraid we cannot help that much this time.

I suppose you had this from the list on: www.traderpage.net - rare soundtracks - trade only! (http://www.anunna.net/traderpage/index.php?methode=methode7)

... so unless you have something really worth to trade... all the best for your trading... not an easy task.
If you have a look at the thread you might see why we resolved to create some of the releases that might be also listed there...

Blade Runner (Omissis Records) 73'02 14 tracks

Same goes for the Nexus 6 version which is a repack of the Off World Edition for Volume 1 and the Gongo Edition for Volume 2.

Get the Nexus 6 Volume 3 on this thread since it will sound better than the original releases used to assemble the Nexus 6 version.

For the Alexander (2cd's by Storm Records) see the Thread 94478

Sorry not to have been of great help on this occasion!

Sorry for offtopic but its still loseless after this convert progress, didnt i loose some quality then?

Whatever format you use to go from wav to lossless and back will retain the same quality as long it uses a lossless codec. Plenty to choose from for the task! :)

Thanks, DC. But how do I play it? Sorry if I'm being thick today. :)

Sorry, it is my fault. I should have included the full content as originally intended, but I wanted to spare people to download the same files another time... so I just packed the additional files in the archive... Just drop the files into the EMS respective folder and that's it. :)

The archive includes the extra artworks and the added notes, plus a .cue file intended to use with the .ape files on B5's original post. This shorter version of the japanese disc (only five tracks) is the version which was originally intended for the release of the bonus disc. It has a better flow... though it is not as complete as the extended tracklist (ten tracks in total) used for the official release. ;)

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1OJRLM2N)

The promo version is the official preview of the song while the bootleg version was banned for copyright violation... pretty different though...

Official demo:
Vangelis - Rachel's Song (Andy Moor Remix) by djandymoor on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free (http://soundcloud.com/djandymoor/vangelis-rachels-song-andy)
Sorry for being off-topic, but I was scanning through all the pages to find the versions I needed and I ended up looking for so much more. So I had to come back and make a correction for those that care about tagging ;p
Yeah, it IS pretty different, cause Rachel's Song (7:46) is not remixed by Andy Moor, but by Dj Eco - VANGELIS Rachel's Song dj Eco mix ( TRANCENTRAL UK).wmv - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0zAQ9QPIL0)
I don't think there are two Andy Moor versions. I believe his only version is just the one @ soundcloud (the other mix in the archive seems to be ripped from a live set).
Btw, a -supposedly- higher quality version of Dj Eco's Remix than the one you posted lies here (http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/45315670/file.html)
Apologies, it's still lossy, even though I'm sure you got it covered in all these BR threads.

All versions in the archive were banned for copyright violation at the time... so I suppose I took it was an early demo of the Andy Moor.
I am glad I was wong! :)

I had a look on Beatport but that particular version is not out yet.

Is there around a Vynil/CDr of it?

The "supposedly- higher quality version" and "though I'm sure you got it covered in all these BR threads" are giving me something to worry!
Is it a video rip from YouTube?

No, it's @ 320kbps, but I honestly don't hear much difference from your 160kbps version. You folks and your specially designed sound apps would tell the difference, I just prefer to use my ear ;)

As for the second comment you quoted, since I dug up such an old post, I figured you must have found quality versions of all these tracks (I still haven't checked the Esper Retirement's edition 6th disc or the tons of tracks that Zhora posts in the other thread). Maybe I was wrong.

That's all the info I got on the Dj Eco track, as of yet.

The final draft of the masters is currently being re-shipped to a different host because of the SOPA act... :(

Further changes are being discussed, better sources were in some cases considered... It is finished anyway. ;)

If I think that it was supposed to be a joke of the 20th Anniversary... and it is now turning into something different...

Comments :

"Hi everyone, I made a personal edit of Blade Runner soundtrack. Most of these tracks are similar to the Esper Edition, nothing new in this edition. I just thought that it was a pleasure to make a own bootleg soundtrack.
Source: DVD, Gongo version, regular release, Deck Definitive Edition and Esper Edition."

Zimmer, Taiwan, September 2003.

Another piece in a puzzle that it is slowly being put together. Again it went lost someplace somewhere only to resurface by chance.
Somehow we always had the covers but we never managed to get a copy of the actual content whose artwork it was made for. Now the maker kindly sent us a rip from his originals. We all deeply appreciated that.

It is not yet another compilation of other versions, as it was the case with most of the (allegedly) oriental releases to date, or at least it is yet another clever compilation from the sources we all know. It looks like it was produced with a studio feel in mind and the edits done to the tracks are pretty good. We really have to compliment the maker of this.
The music is like a continuous mix of Vangelis cues composed for the film with the insertion of some audio parts taken from the Blade Runner movie.
Eventually we found the maker and kindly asked if he could share his work with us. All of a sudden all the evidences about this Film Score Online were to be found where they have always been.

Muchas gracias to Pepe, the nice peer of good will that originally delivered that to us from the SoulSeek shares! Un merci spcial JacKc for the 2011 alternate covers and again thanks to Swawn for letting us share this work on the Blade Runner expanded score. Have a better one!

Needless to remind to decompress to WAV first (preferred). Cue sheet with CD-Text info is included (suggested). Burn at 4x speed (always) with no pause between tracks otherwise.

Be responsible in giving back what you had for free. Consider sharing back what was shared of old if you care. We are only left with what we share eventually. The more accurately (read properly) the better for the peers-to-be.

One question,

all this are real bootlegs which are pressed (not burned) and sold on the black marked or just made by guys as an "internet release" like for example the last post "Blade Runner - FSO Edition ( 2003 Film Score Online)"?

best regards

Some of them are pressed CDs, but most aren't.
You can find a lot of information here:

Prior to 2000 the majority were limited burn-on-demand cd-r for friends and collectors... the FIC and Esper releases are an example of that. Some of the FIC releases turned into professionally pressed cd's via Deck Music/Deck Art at some point.
The Off-World and Gongo (a bootleg of the Off-World) were also pressed cd's.
I am not sure about referring about what was not pressed on cd as "internet releases". Private releases perhaps?
The quality of these private releases is far superior to every other pressed bootleg to date matter of fact.
The 2001 Private release was way better of the Off-World given the same sources for example. The maker had clearly a better tape to denoise. The Esper Edition makers have the merit of sequencing in the proper order the Mmoires releases. After that there were lots more of those enthusiastic individuals who shared their concept on the perfect Blade Runner soundtrack edition given the fact the the official cd's are not as complete as they should, and most of them you might still find posted here perhaps.
The private releases are better in term of content and quality compared to every pressed bootleg anyway. :)
Have a look around. You came in the right place afterall! ;)

Comments :

Once upon a time there was a nice, young peer who's name was Zelmo (at least how we knew him) who happened to compile yet another original tracklist, and not a bad one if you will allow us. The additions were pushed into the original compilation at a later date, and not by our good peer.
He decided to leave out additions as Blush Response and Wait For Me as initially suggested because they weren't in the film, and they had a different feel than the rest of the score. Those were more the composer's songs than the movie soundtrack material (beats, etc.)
Pieces like Longing and Desolation Path had no beats and sounded as if they could have provided mood for scenes.
And he was right. But perhaps what has followed was not that wrong.
End users will decide on the matter anyway. Just please click on the .m3u file according to your tastes.
Why the extended cut addition was conceived the most purist might wonder then?
Basically if the purists will listen carefully to the preceeding track and the following of the not-so-movie-related additions they might spot something as it will show more prominently in the original compiling.
Those disturbing elements (that's how they might call them) were added to dilute that feeling of repetition... the rest followed since it was the base for the further development of integrating the not-in-the-movie cues into the soundtrack as it was meant to be suggested initially.
The only regret was that not all the bits wanted to be added could be added because of the time limitation for a sigle disc.
Perhaps it's time to move on... and this was conjured to test if anything might sit along the classic.
A sequel is on the way we are told... so expect the worst if you aren't prepared for a change...
What has followed is what was furthered into yet-another-original-tracklist we always liked to call the Ultimate MR3 Edition.
The scraps were the basis for the additions of something tastefully self proclaimed the "29th annivesary Edition". Blooming hackers working overtime! Somehow this is meant as an official thank you to our bright, young peer for the inspiration. We hope he might like that also in the form he has not intended his direction. And there you have his Definitive Compilation right along an Extended Cut of its Definitive Edition if you please.
There was a flow to assemble the tracklist (on our side we mean) and partly sacrificed for the sake of fitting this flow in two single discs to listen to the same old motif in a less formal scheme... but some end users might listen to different things and still finding a clue to what it is being listened to sometimes. And that is for them in a way.
That is the direction we do not expect most of the end users will be following as the initial intended flow, but if one tries to picture down what has been happening in between what it was already seen on screen thousand of times here you have it.

A Rep-Detect (Deckard is the name) meets an unaware replicant called Rachel and his maker Dr Eldon Tyrell to take the Voight Kampff test to her (Blush Response).
It will take more than hundred questions to determinate if she is really a replicant or not (Rachel's Song).
Deckard is looking at the photos he has found at the Yukon Hotel searching for clues, but he is still thinking to the replicant he has met at the Tyrell Corporation.
Somehow there is something in her. She is different from the other replicants he has retired (Piano In An Empty Room).
Deckard has retired a female replicant called Zhora. Leon, a very sentimental replicant, has been watching the scene helpless. He follows Deckard but the police has catch-up with him to compliment on the job he has just done. He buys a bottle of cheap whisky to chill out the shakes he has started getting every time he get to retire a replicant. He is falling high on the curve but he still needs the money of the bounty. He sees Rachel among the crowd. She had somehow decided to meet him down in the fourth sector eventually. She has seen the police spinners and tried to figure out what has been happening and she runs afraid he will have to perform his retirement routine with her as well. He runs after her but the replicant Leon chases him to a corner and he confronts the rep-detect. He is nearly successful in giving him the same treatment he has given to Zhora, but Rachel has managed to pick up Deckard's gun during the fight with Leon and directs it towards the replicant Leon saving Deckard from a sure death. He is far to being in one piece and hand the matter to the police officers to report to captain Bryant at the police station. He heads home with the female replicant who has just saved him and another old song is playing out of the jazzy clubs in chinatown (If I Didn't Care).
He has seen again Rachel and on the way to his flat he tries to understand why he is attracted by a replicant (Spotkanie Z Matka). Is he a replicant himself?
Rachel is asking questions he would have never thought to answer to. Would he come after her? she asks. No, he wouldn't. He owes her one (Wait For Me). Things are spinning too fast. Deckard gets a shot of whisky he has bought at the market to relax a bit.
He needs to unplug from what's happening. He needs a rest. Big city as Los Angeles are the kind of place in which one can be alone and yet together withthousands faces, (One Alone).

That's the reasoning behind it. Fitting it on the base of the space on the actual media was a different matter that was fully developed in the so called "29th Anniversary Edition" anyway. Now the end users got the Mona Lisa in a manner of speaking (far from being so and not to be taken literally obviously) and they also know the reason why she's smiling... You'll be the final judges.

To top the content of this aural picture the official frames were mostly conceived by a graphical little rascal we would like to thank for his hard work and tireless dedication, and also for the pretty good deal of patience and marked perseverance. We always called him JacKc as a matter of fact. We trust he will be remembered not only for the perfect replicas he has conjured for the Mona Lisa's. The title for the whole picture was kindly donated by a good peer who named himself Xchullit and who also contributed to the artwork for the original compiling of the project. As a matter of fact the name for this release was changed to reflect what he had inadvertitely achieved with the enthusiasm for the novelty. It was tried to respect, for the most part, the original idea for it as intended by the nice, young peer. Also warm regards to all peers of good will who's advice was the most relevant and helpful in achieving what you are now also previewing.
They know who they are. Have a better one!
