The infamous Plagiarist KENJI YAMAMOTO (the guy who did nothing but dragon ball z games claiming he was the composer of all music when he ... is just arranging music that is was never originally composed by him) used the Red Spectacles main theme Dragon Ball Z Super Butouden 3 (http://vgmdb.net/album/450). The track is "The New Z Warrior ~ The True Battle Begins! ~"

From what I've heard, the user responsible for sharing this material is not allowing people to ask him, or her, or it, about the passwords.

Maybe you're all psychics down there, I don't know, but even if I focus, I can't read the user's mind, and the passwords are nowhere to be seen.

In another topic, I've read something about the passwords being the catalogue reference of the medium I'm downloading.

Unfortunately, some have no references, in the case of, let's say, this one

Oh, yes, I see a credit to someone else, so I suppose the user who has created the topic and who updates it is not the one who uploaded the material in the first place and has put a password on it.

But if that person updates the topic, why not mention the password? In order for the download to be useful, one has to now the password, so the uploader certainly must have given it to the thread's creator.

Am I to read 42 pages of topic to search for a password?

I seriously am amazed at how ludicrous this all is.

I don't mean to undermine the work of this topic's creator or be ungrateful, or even rude, but here I have a series of useless files encrypted with a password that I have no way to figure, except maybe If I were to read every post of the topic's creator... That would have made a good trap in a Saw movie, but here, it's just silly. There's not a word telling us where to search for passwords, and I certainly don't have the time to look after them.

But if someone here as the time to maintain this topic up to date regularly, then this person would certainly have enough time to write the password down on the main post...

The whole story can be summarized as follows. Orie's main "Puzzle" key to solve the password riddle is that it often refers to Catalogue number. So the password is each OST Catalogue number, it is that simple. Very few exceptions are made when you have a dedicated password, like our case above.

What makes this sad is that many people when they read Pass= Catalogue number they, instead of copying and pasting the real Catalogue number, copy "Catalogue Number" as a phrase and put it as a password, which obviously does not work.

It is not saving a princess or anything. Here is an example.

OST XYZ has a Catalogue number of 1989. You downloaded that OST to your PC and so excited to open the zipped file. You read on the first page, as Orie said on the main post, that Catalogue number is the password. So, time to do the brain work.

The Question: What will you copy as a password?

Answer A : Catalogue Number (As a phrase) Or all other equivalent sentence
Answer B: 1989

The correct answer is B

Edit : HCL., it's perfectly normal that you did not knew I knew what was a catalogue number, since there doesn't seems to be psychics in here after all, but even if I'm not the smartest one, I can reassure you that I wouldn't be as silly has to copy "catalog number" as the password. (I probably should add a silly smiley to mark the fact that I'm being pleasantly talkative and not agressive, but I'm not that much into smileys)

For years I've been working for a french website specialized in OST's, so I'm quite familiar with those references.

In the OTHER topic, where that statement was made that passwords were references, I managed to unzip the file susing that method.

My problem here is that these rules don't apply. I tried using the reference for Akibaranger, and it failed to unzip.

I am beginning to understand why Kenji Kawai has such a large fan base. He can tell complex stories with even the most minimalist sounds. His synth tracks aren't boring, and his orchestral arrangements are impressive without being too "busy" or exaggerated. I'm looking at your original post, and I'm realizing I have a LOT of catching up to do. ;)

Unless you have a bakabt account, torrents will never work properly. This is done to evade "hit and run" who download and never help in uploading.
In my opinion it would be better do it just as private community torrent site, but I am no one to say that there.

yeah, I am sure, in most cases that is what happens.

It's... a bit more complicated... BakaBT is still semi-private, yes, you can use account normally and when doing that, it will use your account personal announce tracker key which is always the same (and you should never share it). However, guests can also download any torrent if they can get to the download bakaBT page. The thing is, there's a new "guest" tracker announce key which gets changed every single month (so the current "guest" public tracker is valid until February ends). If you do not download a started torrent before the month ends, the guest tracker stops working and you have to manually replace it with the current month tracker key from your torrent client.

If you're downloading as a guest, well, it won't count against your ratio because it isn't using your account. What you technically must do to get the guest tracker is log out of your account and download the .torrent file still when logged out. Sure, if you don't have an account in the first place, you don't have to 'log out' xD That way the torrent will generate guest tracker instead of your personal account one.

The first movie is my favorite soundtrack and movie itself. Movie 2 soundtrack was actually where I defined Kenji Kawai as my TOP 1 favorite composer. Although I dislike the second movie for an enormous list of problems, I saw that movie much more back then because of the soundtrack and the animation production which was awesome.
The third movie I just hated it with all my guts. worst 110 minutes of my life ever. I which I done something else with those 110 minutes. The soundtrack sucks as much as the movie, and I can say that only 3 tracks, 3 tracks that I really like in this soundtrack. Fuck you Mamoru Oshii!!

The Sound Renewals, I thought they were re-arranged albums, but I know now the the DVD and LD releases had a different mastering soundtrack, for those releases.
I only thing its sad, that the best track in P" Pre Soundtrack, "Riot", was not included in P2 sound renewal, since all other tracks of the pre soundtrack were bundled there as a bonus. There was still audio space in the cd for that soundtrack. Although it was bundled together in the 20th anniversary cd set.
P2 track, "Outbreak", is my favorite track along with ''IXTL''. This is one of my favorite Kawai soundtracks, but the first movie soundtrack continues to keep a personal magic that I love even more.
"Babel no Houkai" is the best track in all of the soundtrack, and I loved what was done in the sound renewal version.

Thank you Orie. Patlabor is my second favorite anime. Even have the entire ovas, movies and Tv series on Blu Ray.
Mamoru Oshii had nothing to do with the third movie thougth.

You can tell Kenji bashed this one out fairly quickly (it's not nearly as good as his fun, inventive score for the first Tachiguishi Retsuden film), but it's still got some nice melodies and makes for an entertaining listen.

Regarding "RG Veda Drama hen", the music used in the drama tracks "Stage II" and "IV" are from Devilman Ova. Thus why I uploaded them together ;)
Devilman OVA is my favorite Kenji Kawai soundtrack right along with Blue Seed.
Do I recommend it? Yes, I do! I shared both original 12 track and the split version I found somewhere back in 2005. I was waiting and waiting to share this, because since the soundtrack for the first OVA had individual names for the cues, I was hoping to try buy the complete OVA soundtrack and see if the booklet names the rest of the cues of the soundtrack for the Second OVA. Sadly I don't have it, and I have no idea if the cues have individual names or not. I don't like to name them as "title 1", title 2, title 3 and so on...
For me, perhaps because I saw the second ova first, the second half of the Devilman soundtrack is the one I replay so much to listen. "Orugooru 1" was my message tone in my cell phone back in 2008~2009. ;)
I wish "Ji no Moraru 6" was a bigger cue with much more work dealt in it.

In fact Ji no Moraru 6 is intesting but too short... I hear hypnotics sounds i like...
But it was prequel of kenji kawai... When i hear The battle of Dragon Tiger it's more powerfull more loudly...

"DREAM HUNTER Rem Original Soundtrack SPECIAL" as one of the greatest vocal sons I ever heard. Maybe it is the style and the era when it was made, but they are surely amazing.
I like almost all vocals, but..."Aoi Boukensha -THE DREAM GARDIAN REM-" just pierces my heart. And the refrains in all songs are memorable.
Same thing on the drama cds with "Eien rai nin REM"
A curiosity in Drama cd 2 "Minami Azabu Maho Club":
Track 4 has the track "Kyuushou" playing in that drama section. "Kyuushou" second part of track 3 "Demon Ichizoku" from both Devilman: Tanjou Hen Ongakushu and Devilman: Tanjo Hen / Yocho Shireinyu Hen
Track 7, the first song that appears is The Red Spectacles Main theme. The second song that appears, is "The Majestic Head " from Red Photon Zillion Special Program Featuring APPLE ON D.J.: Danger MUSIC. The third track is "Chiisana Seimei", second part of "Ten'i" from both Devilman: Tanjou Hen Ongakushu and Devilman: Tanjo Hen / Yocho Shireinyu Hen.

this last patlabor release is really based on Movie 2 soundtrack. Many subtle "noises" and "effects" are there, reminding me a lot of the second movie. On the other side of the coin, it does make go back to Kenji style in the 90ts... But still, nothing in this soundtrack can be compared to the epicness of "BABEL no Houkai" from the first movie.

Volume 2of Kenji Kawai's score for the NHK drama "Hana Moyu" was released today. Fingers crossed there's a share soon :)

I've really been getting into the Patlabor series. I own the first two films and love them, the first film for its fun tone and the second one for its animation and overall better story. I've also been watching the series and the OVAs.

My question is there a soundtrack or collection of songs from the TV series and OVAs? Has it been uploaded or is it in another thread?

There are three remastered boxsets that compile all the cues and songs from the TV series and second OVA. There is also a boxset compiling all the image songs and some bonus cue tracks for the original OVA; these all can be found on torrent sites in lossless. There is no set that compiles all the cue tracks from the original OVA at present, you'll have to get the original Vol. 1, 2 and 4 releases from 1988/89 for those.

There are three remastered boxsets that compile all the cues and songs from the TV series and second OVA. There is also a boxset compiling all the image songs and some bonus cue tracks for the original OVA; these all can be found on torrent sites in lossless. There is no set that compiles all the cue tracks from the original OVA at present, you'll have to get the original Vol. 1, 2 and 4 releases from 1988/89 for those.

Actually through this thread I actually got into Patlabor. Loved the series and the films (particularly Patlabor 2). Have not yet seen Patlabor 3 but know about the divisive nature of it. I have watch bits of the live action Patlabor and well it doesn't really hold up. Watching the new cast of characters it makes one long for the old ones. Oshii is a great storyteller, with admittedly with flaws, but live action really hasn't been his strong suit, particularly that anime slapstick doesn't necessarily work in live action (or at least when you're trying to tell a serious story). At least with The Red Spectacles and Talking Head it sorta worked a little more because they're intended to be surreal.
I just hope this isn't the end of the Patlabor series (because what a sad way to end it). I would love for there to be an animated sequel to Patlabor 2.
