Can someone help me?
I recently got from a torrent a better quality of venus wars image album and the ost.
one in 192kbps and the other in 320kbps.
I had the cds already downloaded a long time ago, when torrent did not yet exist, and i have them in 128kbps. but.....
track 11 (the last track of the image album), it is corrupted. I could change the 192 kbps for the 128 kbps track i already have but , the loud sound differs. :(
if someone could help me with this. :(

I'm looking for a piece b Joe Hisaishi. I remember listening to it A LOT in high school, 5 years ago. But I forgot what album it came from and what it was called.

But I do remember it had a distinct similarity to Holst's Mars. The repetitive droning drum beat, almost like people going to war. Anyone have an idea?

So, ummm, when I do the same with that link I get redirected to some google search links and I think the first one is the one the link was intended to be (with all the spaces taken out of k h i n s i d e r . c o m). But this page only lets you download the songs as ringtones it seems. And when I tried downloading it said that the ring tones are not available now.

Usually I refuse to share Ghibli assorted music in a thread like this (since not all Ghlibi music is by Joe Hisaishi), but since people are looking for the music box music and I have them sitting here right on my table. Here are 3 of them... I have the CD's for two of these and one of them I have no idea where I got it from. These should satisfy your music box needs.

What I found is a website with a 24min. MP3 file that contains 7 tracks from the "Birth" Soundtrack from Joe Hisiashi. But there is no track listing, so I don't know which CD/LP/cassette is the source. Anyone have an idea?

I did some research on "The Wizard of Oz", and actually, I don't think that the cover posted previously on this thread is correct. Hisaishi wrote the music for a "Wizard of Oz" Anime from Toho Video, which has a different animation style. This would be the correct one:


The picture you posted is from Japan Columbia, and the two tracks can be found on "TV anime super history vol. 29". I have that album and I can share it if someone is interested, but I don't think that these tracks are from Hisaishi.

By the way, I am not a Hisaishi specialist, I discovered his music watching Howl Moving Castle last month. I really loved the soundtrack and found out about Mr Hisaishi music. Now I have downloaded a dozen of his works (Ghibli's, but not only), and my two favourites are "Works III" and "Piano Best 88-08".
Since you seem to be quite a specialist, what would your favourite CDs be ?

...which makes it my overall favorite.

I'm not a fan of his older works, which had a lot of synthesized sounds in them. I'm also not a fan of his "minimalist" works, like "Sonatine" and "Minima_Rhythm", although "Minima_Rhythm" was not bad at all. What I'm trying to say is that I'm more interested in his works that involve a full orchestra and works that are very melodic.

On a final note, I am highly anticipating the upcoming soundtrack to the Nintendo DS game "Ninokuni: The Another World" composed by Hisaishi of course. Does anybody have an update for that?

what would your favourite CDs be ?


I discovered Joe Hisaisi with the Ghibli movie, Laputa - Castle in the Sky,
since then, I collected everything I could find from Ghibil, compilations, solo album and even sheets. This man is a genius!

I recommend the "Joe Hisaishi & 9 Cellos ~ A Wish To The Moon" album and all his piano album in general (I've to admit, I really like piano music).

Like others, I'm less fan of his old solo albums with synthe sound but some hide great pieces like "View of Silence" in Pretender.

Here are some of my favorites pieces:

There are so many, I'm sure I forget some masterpieces.
