Does anyone know of WORKING links to a Yoko Kanno music collection?

I'd prefer 320mp3, but at this point I'll take what I can get.

Are there particular albums you are looking for? Almost all direct download links for Kanno albums are offline now. There's still a massive torrent at ruTracker that houses Kanno albums in 320kbps. LINK (http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4043921)

Would it be possible to find this torrent somewhere else? ruTracker says that I have to register to download torrent(s) bigger than 500mb, should I register anyway?

RuTracker is definitely worth the trouble of registering. Torrenting is the easiest and painless method of getting most of Kanno's albums without stumbling upon dead download links... :) And Tanis, I hope you found what you were looking for.

Yoko Kanno - Discography 1990-2012 - tehPARADOX (http://tehparadox.com/forum/f86/yoko-kanno-discography-1990-2012-a-5067040/)

You'll need to sign up to get the links, but you'll probably find the site worthwhile for other composers too.
All the Kanno links are Bitshare and all appear to be active.
Copy and paste each link, then pick "regular download" once at the Bitshare site. You don't have to sign up at Bitshare to download.
But you will have to wait 90 seconds before you can download, and you have to wait between each download too (their site says it's only 10 minutes, but I think it's more like an hour).
So, if you plan to download a lot, expect it to take some time.

I have nothing to do with this Collection---just thought I'd let you all know about it.

My rip.

Yoko Kanno's composition "The Tower of Babel" (Thread 139079), a piece for saxophone and piano, was performed by Nobuya Sugawa, and the composer herself; so I searched for other collaborations between the two. This album with chamber music contains classical music pieces by French composers (many re-arranged for sax for this album), and pieces written for Mr. Sugawa by contemporary Japanese composers Kanno, and Takashi Yoshimatsu.

It annoys me to no end that the remaining numbers to Darker Than Black still haven't been released. If I could I would have gone thru the effort to rip from the Blu-Rays and do a downmix, but I don't have the skills or the equipment to pull that off.

From Anime Expo 2015, professors John Marr, M.M., Elliot Jones, D.M.A., and David F. Lopez, D.M.A. from the Music School at Santa Ana College present and delve into the creative genius of composer, pianist, musician and artist, Yoko Kanno.

The talk started out well with a brief history of Kanno's musical background, but then regressed into a bunch of fan boys playing their favourite tracks.

I would have preferred more insight into Kanno's career and the musical choices made in the games and anime she scored (the "Chain" scene in Escaflowne, for example.) I think the crowd was bored by the music theory 101 bits.

The Green Bird discussion was the most interesting bit because it mentioned the idea of the anti-scoring of a scene like in Platoon. Another scene that comes to mind is the final duel between Luke and Vader. It's a neat trend of scoring violent or sad moments with a requiem of sorts. It was used a bit in Children of Men as well.

Yeaaaah, I was kinda disappointed they didn't tackle for more variety of her works (I'm still trying to look on how she wrote that "Shiro, Long Tails" piece from Wolf's Rain or other several orchestral pieces from Escaflowne), instead of mostly Cowboy Bebop, just because the majority of the audience seem to know that one score of hers only.

I was actually quite interested when they mentioned about the composers that weren't usually mentioned on her "influences" like Francis Poulenc, but it felt that they never went onto full detail about it and just "here, have a list of similar composers works to that one track" and ran in circles with the music theory for a one hour panel.

Interesting idea for a panel that sadly, never reached it's full potential. Thanks for the share though!

Musical originality in children is just unlimited. Yamaha's music education program provides opportunity of having such talent grow as far as possible in the hope that children can express their music by writing and playing themselves or the basis of good techniques. Their imaginations, musical styles and modes of expressions are so free and unrestricted that we are impressed with great joy and excitement. Many of such children were seen on the stage of Yamaha Music Camp music hall in Nemo-no-Sata, Japan on September 29th, 1974. This album is the live recording of that concert, of its most interesting pieces.

Improvisation

At the Junior Original Concert, children give an improvisational performance as well as a performance of their own composition. They choose one from several given tone series (samples of which are shown below) and improvise a tune of about three minutes in which the tone series plays the major role and is used to good effect.

As you discover as you listen to the performances on this record, the children seem to have no difficulty expressing their musical ability and personality. This is the most important objective of the Yamaha Music Education System -- that children learn not only technical skill, but the ability to create and express themselves musically.

A side note... I always loved this soundtrack, and it was one of my very first full anime download soundtrack back in year 2000. One of my favorite works of Yoko, and heard it countless times.
but when I saw the movie 6 years later.... I was scarred shitless of "Time for a battle"! Why was that song not in the soundtrack. It is damn awesome.

Hiya guys. This thread has been invaluable in keeping up with such a prolific composer. Being the completionist that I am, and I see many others here are as well, I wanted to open up a google document that anyone can add to where we collect everything Yoko Kanno has been involved in. It's a lot easier to read and the formatting is much better on a excel sheet than trying to conform to the bbcode or having to read through this whole thread. If anyone would like to contribute feel free, every help is appreciated.

I wonder if one of you can help me. I was looking for something Yoko Kanno related the other day and did find it in this thread but I also starting clicking links on the board and somehow found my way to a large anime soundtrack collection a user had made, which Kanno was a part of. It was a mega post presented as if it was an archive project, with anime music broken down into years, late night anime, etc... Yoko Kanno's composition "The Tower of Babel" (Thread 139079), a piece for saxophone and piano, was performed by Nobuya Sugawa, and the composer herself; so I searched for other collaborations between the two. This album with chamber music contains classical music pieces by French composers (many re-arranged for sax for this album), and pieces written for Mr. Sugawa by contemporary Japanese composers Kanno, and Takashi Yoshimatsu.
