I admit I watch hentai but I like to laugh at some of them because there are so many lame ones. I like doujinshi romance stories where characters that you wish would get it on do but you don't really see that much. In the same respect I like shounen-ai or shoujo-ai because they are usually cute and funny.

Well hentai is different from the porn we have in America... the most part the hentai that is sent over here. I mean the girls get raped for the majority of them. I'll admit that I've watched a few (whether I wanted too or not), some were straight up porn, while others were just too gross to even explain!

and then there are those that have pretty good in depth storylines (seriously)

Go Nagai's Hanappe Bazooka!- First off, it's really weird (like most of his anime). it's basically about a hormone raging teenage boy (who's pretty much a dweeb) named Hanappe, and is magically granted one wish by two demons who are summoned from (of all things) the viewing of a porn flick. It's a funny movie (IMO), with not a lot of sex scenes than most hentai, and then turns toward a very serious emotional ending.

I can't think of the name of this other Hentai. It's about a news magazine reporter who is again, raging hormones, and is told to go to a "gentlemens' club" and rate it. Unfortunately, he finds out that he's actually a decoy (and mocked for being a critic) for an investigative reporter who wants to expose the club and it's political clientel.

Wow what a thread , but good is I've arrives to give yu some info on why hentai is important in anime society.
I was part of a panel during " Anime north " wich is the second largest anime convention in Canada , the topic " Can hentai be good anime ? and while I sat in defence of hentai , I asked those who hated it , did you see it recently , these people did say no.
Hentai is much a part of today's modern anime than you even realize.
Let me explain in more detail.
I recently watched two anime series one was hentai , the other an anime boxed set , the hentai feature was " Pure mail " , the story was a guy who meets a girl on an online site the anime series was " Koi Kaze " this story thoe regular hentai was about a sister who falls in love with her older brother.
Are these diffrent?
The fact of the matter is , anime companies know the ages of those who watch anime , and according to the numbers people ages 18 to 40 are watching anime more than those ages fetus to 16 , so they put more adult orintated anime on.
So as adults watching anime we know fairly well that fan service or even full frontal nudity will come into play , if you want to know what I'm talking about watch " Rumbling hearts ".
Hentai can play an essential part of anime if you need refrence to what I'm saying here are some hentai titles and non-hentai titles for comparison for you to look at.
For hentai : Pure mail , welcome to pia carrot , crimson climax , end of summer , tokio private police , and parade parade.

I am assuming that you are claiming that it is better to masturbate to porn than hentai. This would be true if everyone got sexually aroused from visual stimuli only. It however completly disregards the fact that alot of people recieve a large percentage of their arousal from mental stimuli.

Sure, I get aroused by watching a porn movie, but the level of arousal is nothing compared to what I can get from reading a good sex story or hentai manga. An exciting script, coupled with a good imagination works wonders. All this isn't much different from the debate of books vs movies. Some may prefer one while some prefer the other.

Even if it weren't for the better stories, it still isn't strange that people get aroused from drawn characters. Humans are hardwired to get excited by looking at the opposite sex. That hardwiring doesn't discriminate between real and drawn images. A beautiful hentai woman can be just as exciting as a photo of a real beautiful woman in that regard.

I have no problem with people who don't get excited by hentai, and this post is meant to give them some understanding why some people enjoy hentai. What annoys me however are people who attacks hentai by trying to claim superiority on moral grounds (where moral often is based only on the "ick factor"). Using morals to crack down on personal matters is in my opinion one of the more despicable acts in society. Alienation because of thoughts is just one step from getting imprisoned because of thoughts.

Hentai, or any kind of animated porn, doesn't really intrigue me. But as one person posted in another thread (I forgot his name and the post was kind of long, so I won't repeat all of it), hentai is more believable than real porn. What really bothers me about hentai/yaoi/yuri are the faces of some characters, especially in hentai. Sometimes, the artists go for that 'cute' look with the huge eyes and whatnot. Yeah, I know 95% of anime characters have big eyes, but when they're as big as light bulbs, it's not even arousing anymore. But hey, this might be someone's fetish. :D Then there's the REALLY degrading stuff, like Eiken (I know it's not hentai, but it sure as hell could pass for one). This has to be one of the stupidest threads on the forum. Whether a person likes or hates hentai should be of their own discression. Stating that you hate something without giving the relative facts and reasons why you hate it other than what it is and how it's portrayed is the very basis of bias. To be bias is to be ignorant of opinion outside of the norm.

Hentai isn't a relative term for porn soft or hard core alone, by definition Hentai is not a root word for sex or any sexual contact. By nature the word means abnormality.

Nowadays the word Hentai is related to the animation depicting sex or sexual acts, Hentai isn't meant for this however it just means that it's an art form that is in all aspects of the words considered strange, weird, or out of the norm. It takes hentai to stimulate some people, yes at times Hentai can be disgusting or lack in depth realism, but if you look at it more closely it's depicting the very base nature of human contact, which is the instinct and need to reproduce.

While I don't agree with some of the instances that are used to portray these acts, (rape, tentacle porn, kidnapping and rape, drug use, or other sorts of force are against my moral standing) Hentai is no different than watching a sex-ed video about the reproductive cycle of people. I've seen worse forms of perversity in anime than hentai. Hentai doesn't come close to watching people's insides literally be blown out and painstakingly drawn in detail for the viewer to look at, and (possibly) lose their lunch over.

Who cares if anyone likes or dislikes hentai? That's THEIR business. There's a lot worse out there than watching girls and boys act like bunny rabbits. Personally I'm thankful for one form of hentai. After all if it weren't for that form of hentai, I wouldn't be here. And neither would the rest of the people complaining.

As for hentai being evil and a product of the devil? Wake up and smell the coffee, Hentai is not a product of the devil, it's a fricking artform created by people, if you want to blame evil on someone blame it on the society we live in.
