after a year of wandering, he runs into Rude, who helps him recover, and sends him into the shinra mansion in nieblheim...where Rufus spends most his time in the basement reading....
He learns about the Jenova Project *starting to sound familiar?*
He starts thinkin of a master plan, in which to rule the world (or destroy it), and this is where he learns about Sephiroth.....
He was told by Rude that Sephiroth's mother is Jenova ( or thats what he heard on his travels when he was chasing Cloud)
Rufus then gets this weird idea that he is Sephiroths brother, and seeks to find him....without telling Rude
Then he searched through the Northern Crater.....where he finds Sephiroth....dead.
He thinks his plans are over, when he found Red materia next to sephiroths dead body (phoenix)
when he revives Sephiroth, he finds that he too.....is now suffering from amnesia.....Sephiroth then K-O'es Rufus, not knowing what the hell he was doin....then escapes.....
Rufus goes back into hiding again.....and discovers he can read Sephiroths mind....
He Tracks him down again, and brainwashes him and tells him that he is his brother.....(thats after Rude & Eina capture him from Cloud and co.)
He then releases Him, and hides again.....where he has mind conversations with Sephiroth, where they plan their master plan.......

He jumps back out of range, thinking quickly* "You'd attack an unarmed man?" *he grabs a small stone, glowing a bright yellow, andembeds it in a socket on his armour* "How would you like It?" *the turtle lunges again, but DC easily dodges the attack and says in a low voice* "manipulate" *The turtle lunges once more, but comes to a sudden stop with the tip of its spear no more then an inch from DC's face* "Now that's better" *The turtle struggles to break free of the spell but finds it has no control over its body* "Now, how can you redeem yourself, hmm?" *The turtle, eyes wild with fright, hand's the spear to DC* "For me? Oh how thoughtful" *The turtle steps backward until his back is against the wall of a small cliff* "But I must teach you a lesson for your naive mistake" *He begins spinning the spear around his body* "Now say Aaaah" *The turtles mouth opens wide and as it does so, DC grabs the spear fiercly in both hands and stabs it right through the turtles mouth and head, and into the cliff face. He turns and walks off toward the small village of Cosmo Canyon while the turtle's body goes limp and it gives a gurgling sigh and blood runs from his gaping mouth*
