What doesn't surprise me are those people who continue to this day to complain about a bunch of millionaire goobers giving each other awards for playing pretend while at the same time expending incalculable numbers of dollars and hours consuming and discussing the by-products of said goobers "play".
It's just an excuse for zillionaires to make even more money. I'm fine with the product but not the byproduct. Why are they paid for the same job twice?

You mean in discussing which movies are better than others? None. Except the Oscars aren't about that. It isn't a roundtable or a discussion that we're privy to. It's just "we picked these particular movies and people, God knows why, and gave them a medal for liking them more." It's gaudy.

I fail to see why the producers, artists and technicians who, ya know, actually create all the work y'all watch, listen and debate/argue/fret over should be denied the same opportunity to watch, listen and debate/argue/fret over the work of their peers.
You're the one's invited to their party. If you don't like the company, y'all probably should grab your coats and politely leave.

Regardless of who the voters are and what their occupation is, why should I pay attention to what they have to say if I can never understand their position? Heck, if these are filmmakers themselves who are voting, then shouldn't their analyses be far more interesting to hear? Nope, instead of getting some debaters out there to tell me why Moonlight is the bestest movie of the year, they get some star power to read the name off. If you like the Oscars that's fine, but I'm not interested in watching actors get even more time in the spotlight and reading off titles, with precious little other commentary.

The Critics Formula to rating movies:
Slow + Ponderous = Deep & Meaningful.
Fast paced + Entertaining = Shallow & Superficial
The last time I watched the Oscars was when Jackman and Hathaway hosted it. I liked Jackman infusing the production with vintage Broadway razzle-dazzle. Before that when Silence of the Lambs swept the Oscars. The only horror movie to ever do that.
Normally, the movies I like never seem to win.

Disney, why aren't you doing TRON 3, it looks so damn promising. Of all the horrifying sequels you're putting..
"JOSEPH KOSINSKI: I guess I can say that TRON 3 is in cryogenic freeze. So, its there. Its not dead. Its alive, but its sitting there, waiting for the right time to move forward. I mean, you have to remember that when we made TRON: Legacy, Disney did not own Marvel. Disney did not own Lucasfilmthey own everything now. But this was before they owned everything, so from the studio point of view, they have a certain number of slots and a certain amount of money to make movies and if you can make a Star Wars spinoff or another Marvel movie, which are all doing incredibly well, a TRON movie, even though I think it would do very well, the question is: Would it do as well as one of those? That is more the reason we havent seen another TRON is that Disney stock is flushed with really successful properties right now. But that doesnt mean we wont see one at one point."
KOSINSKI: The movie was called, TRON: Ascension, I think thats out there. I think we got the script to about 80%. We were in good shape. We were probably eight or nine months out, which is still a good amount of distance from being ready to shoot it, but I think the script was in good shape. What Im excited about is the concept, which is an invasion movie from inside the machine coming out as opposed to one weve usually seen. So we hinted at that at the end of Legacy with Quorra coming out, but the idea for Ascension was a movie that was, the first act was in the real world, the second act was in the world of TRON, or multiple worlds of TRON, and the third act was totally in the real world. And I think that really opens up, blows open the concept of TRON in a way that would be thrilling to see on screen. But theres also a really interesting character study in Quorra and a Stranger in a Strange Land, trying to figure out where she belongs having lived in the real world for a few years, and where does she fit in.
KOSINSKI: It definitely doesnt have to be on a movie screen. I dont know if you saw the TRON ride, which opened in Shanghai and was amazingI think the TRON franchise is alive in rides and I think theres still interest in exploring other things like VR, but as far as the TV show, I dont know, I think that would be tough. As you saw on screen, so much of the world has to be created digitally. You cant just go and film a TRON movie, or at least the TRON side of it, so I dont know. I would never say never. Theres possibly a version of that, but thats up to Disney.
KOSINSKI: I dont see them having superpowers. I dont see them being able to shoot lasers from their eyes or do what I would consider to be a superhero-type movie. But in her DNA itself, her being the first digital-human hybrid, theres something in her being that allows objects from inside the Grid to exist in the real world and makes them permanent, so that was the idea. So I think the idea is strong, its just a matter of the right time and the right place and the stars aligning as they have to do for movies.

Both Tron films, IMO, are incredibly over rated. The acting in the first film was so wooden you got splinters. The second's plot was undercooked to the point of being raw.
None of that would have mattered if TL had made money at the box office, but it didn't. Its production budget was $170 million and it made in the U.S. $172 million, and $228 million overseas for a worldwide total of just over $400 million. Add to that probably $100 million in marketing and using the rule of thumb a film must gross at least 2.5 to three times its costs to be profitable, TL would have had to make at least $600 million, more to green light a sequel.
Sometimes DVD or Blu Ray sales can spur a sequel, as in the case of John Wick. But by Hollywood standards it cost pennies which made okaying a sequel much easier.
As for Kosinski, he's like a lot of new directors: visually strong, narratively weak. Neither TL or Oblivion were all that compelling.
On the plus side, TL had an outstanding score.

Legacy may not have been the most jam-packed film when it came to a script, but what more did it need? It's a story about a son trying to find/rescue his father. Which the film accomplished. I'm not saying it's great, and I do have a gripe with a lot of the dialogue - but there are worse films out there. Like Tomorrowland.
I also connected to the film on an emotional level. I think any man can relate to the story of trying to find and reconnect with his long-lost father. And that bittersweet ending made me cry a little bit. And then there's the score - which is among my all-time favorites. It perfectly accompanies what you're seeing on screen.

Actually, the director said it on the interview, the real reason why Tron 3 isn't being done right now it's because Disney knows it won't bring them much money, it's not cancelled, it's just shelved until they have space, because right now Disney prefers to do Marvel and Star Wars movies and spin-offs as they are sure to bring money. They are just waiting for a time where they can make the risk.

Wtf is wrong with people who use iOS?
ARe they just deliberately dumb?
It's like you need to start with ground zero and treat them all like English is their second language.
AND you have to pre-emptively talk down to them because they're going to give you automatic answers, anyway.
I tried asking on Reddit if anyone knows how to copy music without shit getting deleted and, surprise, surprise, I had to reword my entire post because they just copy/pasted shit they said to other people...
https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/5xuiwk/free_ios_any_solution_to_copying_music_from/
Apparently, their kind don't understand that "streaming" is the same thing as "downloading".
As it does *have* to download it in pieces.
It will remove the downloads after it's played. It's all in the cache. It has an expiry date.
But, I made it clear before that music gets deleted.
But the fact I said I don't want to use a "cloud" (probably another word too advanced for iOS users) to screw shit up as a lot of other users also don't like UPLOADING ONLY TO DOWNLOAD THE SAME SHIT, it should be clear what people want.
Apple has had the shittiest service for decades.
And nothing but losers giving the same advise.
I sincerely doubt there's anyone technically qualified to help out with any iOS concerns.
Shit's been around for years and everything is just a rehash of the iTunes core library files so equally useless.
Windows and Android, wouldn't be a problem.
I really don't get what's so hard to understand about a supposedly "simpler" operating system when no one in the world can figure out how to copy files these days without...
1) uploading/downloading/streaming
2) deleting EVERYTHING
3) paying for shit
4) using limted Payware shit
Is it asking too much from an iOS person?

I heard Bay doesn't want to continue making them now.
Even though he had a plan for a new trilogy starting with either AoE or TLK.
I was wondering what made him change his mind (again).
That might have been the straw that broke the camels back.
It's like he was depending on China to make back his money for the franchise, even though North America doesn't care about them anymore.
The same way Uwe Bowell used the German government to get back all his money on his movies that flopped (intentionally).
Thankfully, they changed their laws so he doesn't make millions making garbage films.

http://www.iflscience.com/brain/shaquille-oneal-thinks-earth-is-flat-because-it-doesnt-go-up-and-down-when-he-drives/)
His reasoning is devilishly simple: I drive from coast to coast, and this shit is flat to me. Im just saying. I drive from Florida to California all the time, and its flat to me. I do not go up and down at a 360-degree angle, and all that stuff about gravity, have you looked outside Atlanta lately and seen all these buildings? You mean to tell me that China is under us? China is under us? Its not. The world is flat.
Now, it's been a little while since my last geometry class, but what the fuck is a 360-degree angle? Isn't that just a circle? Is that his point?

Reading that France, yes the country, is betting big on the success of "Valerian." How big you ask? Big to the tune of $210 million and that's without marketing costs. The movie is a 100% French production. I don't think it's going to do well at the box office, unfortunately. With GoTG 2, Alien Covenant, and Star Wars at year's end I don't think American audiences have enough room on their plates for this one. Plus "Valerian" is pretty much unknown in the U.S. and stateside audiences aren't that daring when it comes to SF. Plus there's nothing in the trailers that screams "you gotta see this picture!" At this point the trailers are all pretty people, pretty colors and pretty scenery.

"Humanity won’t bring it about—it is going to be done to us. Humanity is going to be forced to be happy—to enjoy world peace—to see universal abundance and joy fill the Earth.
Now notice just how the new world government will function! It will not be so-called democracy. It will not be socialism. It will not be communism or fascism. It will not be human monarchy, oligarchy, or plutocracy. It will not be man’s government over man. Man has proven his utter incapability of ruling himself. It will be divine government—the government of God. It will not be government from the bottom up. The people will have no votes. It will not be government of or by the people—but it will be government for the people. It will be government from the top (God Almighty) down. There will be no election campaigns. No campaign fund-raising dinners. No dirty political campaigns, where each candidate attempts to put himself forward in the most favorable light, defaming, denouncing, discrediting his opponents. No time will be wasted in mudslinging campaigns in the lust for power. No human will be given any government office. All in government service will then be divine spirit beings, in the Kingdom of God—the God Family."

The Complete Oz by L. Frank Baum. Someday, I would love to do animated film adaptations of the first six books (book six was intended to be a definitive ending for the series. It didn't take and he ended up writing eight more). I've already written an extremely detailed plot summary and selected temp music for the first one and as I'm reading the rest of the books I'm making notes. If I actually got to do all six movies and the audience still wanted more, I would do a TV series adapting the other eight books.

I'm currently reading Paul Auster's 4321 and loving every single page so far :) I'm still only halfway, though...

I am reading a paperback anthology called The Continent Makers and Other Tales of the Viagens by L. Sprague de Camp. I read this years ago, forgot I had it and now I am enjoying again.
