Best plot twist in a Final Fantasy game, maybe?
Hmm, that's actually a very good suggestion. I'll keep it in mind.
Agent0042
05-20-2005, 12:10 AM
I like that one. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't do that, unless somebody else comes up with something better soon.
hb smokey
05-20-2005, 04:06 AM
Yeah, it's looking like it's going to be best plot twist. I'm not entirely sure if this has been done in Agent's Rumble already or not, but I think it's a great topic. But if someone still wants to voice their opinion, hurry up and do so!
Agent0042
05-20-2005, 04:10 AM
No, I haven't done it, nothing like that. Believe me, I wouldn't have said to go ahead with it if I had.

Well that's what I'm going to do next: Plot twists. Make sure to go ahead and nominate all the ones you can think of. Here are few, because I didn't have much time to sit here and think of more.
Golbez and Cecil are brothers/KluYa is the father - FFIV
Tidus is nothing more than a dream of the Fayth - FFX

Well, here's a few to start off:
Galuf is actually king, not just some old geezer - FF5
The end of the war was a big lie - FF6
Cait Sith is a spy, but is still sympathetic to your side - FF7
Everyone was together at the orphanage - FF8
Maester Mika / various other people are unsents - FFX

I really don't think it's going to be possible to come up with at least four plot twists from all these games. So I think we should do a different category this time, and maybe next one will be plot.
Agent0042
05-31-2005, 02:17 AM
Ah, darn it. It seemed like such a good idea too. I'd really like to see this get going again, but I'm completely drawing a blank right now when it comes to any other ideas...
hb smokey
05-31-2005, 02:22 AM
Well I'd love to do plot twists still, but I don't think we've even gotten half the nominations that we need, and it's been over a week since the last edition ended.
Has espers/summons/GFs/eidolons been done yet?
Or magic/abilities of the games?
Just a couple of ideas.
Agent0042
06-01-2005, 03:08 AM
That's not a bad idea. Or maybe some combination of the two --- i.e. Knights of the Round summon and such could be counted as abilities / moves?
hb smokey
06-01-2005, 05:19 AM
Has espers/summons/GFs/eidolons been done yet?
No sir. This one would be so easy to do, and I guess I'll do that one for this edition and try to do plot twists the next time around. But you guys have to make sure you post which ones you think should definately be in there.
Agent0042
06-02-2005, 03:17 AM
Quick question before we start --- do we wanna go with just abilities / moves that your characters can use, or also the abilities / moves of the enemies?
Quick question before we start --- do we wanna go with just abilities / moves that your characters can use, or also the abilities / moves of the enemies?
I would have thought that there would have been too many abilities of enemies, and I don't think there is a compiled list of them. However Enemy Skills are abilities of the enemies :-P
Yeah I mean all summons can be used with the abilities, so why not?
Rapture
06-02-2005, 12:38 PM
I think we shoud just stay with the abilities and moves that the characters can do, initially. There are plenty to chose from...

Knights of the Round Summon - FFVII (I know there's another name for this, whatever it is that appears on screen when you call it...)

06-09-2005, 05:37 PM
Well, I'm not giving out what they are yet, so here are one's I still need.
FFIV-0
FFV-0
FFVI-1
FFVII-0
FFVIII-0
FFIX-0
FFX-1
Extra-4
It's funny. While I was looking at my list today, I just realized that FFX-2 DOESN'T HAVE SUMMONS! Well, I'll just throw them away this edition, and bring back the 'Extra' category, which is a summon from any of the other participating games.
EDIT: Almost there folks
FFIV - Sylph
FFV - Golem, Remora, Catoblepas
FFVI - Crusader
FFVII -
FFVIII -
FFIX - Fenrir (for Jander :-P), Maduin, Ark
FFX - Anima
Extra - Gilgamesh, Mog, Angelo
That is what I think any way. Let me know if you have already chosen them.
Rapture
06-09-2005, 07:34 PM
FFIX - Hmm, Alexander/Fenrir/Bahamut
FFX - Anima/Yojimbo
Extra - Well, any could go in here really I'll leave this one out.
These are just extras that you may want to add if you haven't already.
Agent0042
06-10-2005, 02:12 AM
You could "extra" in FFVII's Choco/Mog if needed. Kinda lame-sounding at first, but this one really packed a lot of punch for me.
hb smokey
06-10-2005, 04:41 AM
Ok, we still need one for FFVI, FFX, and then four for the 'extra' category. Make sure when you nominate for 'extra', that you tell which game it's from. There are a lot of summons in the same game.
FFVI - Crusader
Extra - Gilgamesh, Mog, Angelo
I chose Crusader, like I said don't know if you have already chosen them.
For extra, maybe Angelo, Choco/Mog (like Agent0042 said), Phoenix and another one (because I cant think of anymore)?
hb smokey
06-13-2005, 06:55 AM
Ok, all I need is just any four summons from any of the games participating. Heck, you could list every single one, and I can just pick from there. But just make sure, that you post which ones you definately want to see.
EDIT: also, one more for FFVI
FFIV - Asura, Bahamut, Leviathan, Sylph
FFV - Catoblepas, Golem, Leviathan, Remora
FFVI - Crusader, Paladin, Ragnarok, Raiden
FFVII - Bahamut ZERO, ChocoMog, Knight of the Round, Kujata
FFVIII - Alexander, Cactuar, Doomtrain, Eden
FFIX - Alexander, Ark, Bahamut, Maduin
FFX - Anima, Ifrit, Magus Sisters, Yojimbo
I think for FFVI there should be Paladin.
The other I would like to see some of the "classic" summons. Maybe Odin, Kjata, Atomos and Valefor?

First Battle of Round 1:
Bahamut - FFIV - On your first trip to the moon, you can acquire this deadly Summon. You have to enter Bahamut's Cave, and battle through some tough enemies; especially Behemoth's which are so strong at this point in the game. When you fight him, make sure you take him down before he ends the countdown 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0...Nuke! This move will surely wipe out your party, as it can take up to 7,000 HP from each character.
vs.
Ifrit - FFX - You acquire this Aeon in Kilika Temple. It's unique attack is Meteor Strike, which is a non-elemental attack that strikes only one enemy. It's overdrive, as usual, is Hellfire. Ifrit flies high in the sky, and hurls a giant ball of fire onto it's foes.
Fight!
While I really enjoy this form of Ifrit, I'm going to vote for Bahamut. It has such a devastating attack in the form of Nuke, that I love using it against my enemies.
1 vote for Bahamut please. Ifrit's strong, but Bahamut is stronger.

Well, that was incredibly shocking to me, that something from the classics truly destroyed something from the present. Also, just to make sure you guys know, you are voting from the version of a particular summon (like Bahamut from FFIV), from a particular game, not just as a summon in whole.
Next Battle:
Knights of the Round - FFVII - The only way to acquire this awesome summon is to breed a Gold Chocobo, which can take quite a long time to accomplish. But once you do, you'll soon find out it's worth the time and effort. It's easily the best summon in the game, and it also won in the General Final Fantasy Rumble.
vs.
Ixion - Extra - FFX - Strongly resembles a massive horse, this summon has very good Defense and Magic Defense. It's Unique Attack, Aerospark, is very useful. It can negate stat-enhancing skills of an enemy, such as Protect, Shell, Haste, etc. Thor's Hammer, it's Overdrive, is a Lightning based attack which strikes all. You can acquire Ixion in the Djose Temple.
Fight!
Not even I can vote against Knights of the Round.

Is this going to turn out the way I expect it to?
Knights of the Round - 10
Ixion - 1
Precisely. Although that last 'pity' vote at the end kept this from being a complete wipe.
Next Battle:
Crusader - FFVI - Attacks with a move called Purifier. It inflicts massive-non elemental damage to all enemies, and your party as well! Equipping this Esper enables +50% to MP for each level up, and also gives you the chance to learn two super powerful attacks; Meteor, and Merton. Once you defeat the 8 Legendary Dragons, you receive this wonderful Esper.
vs.
Cactuar - FFVIII - Well known for his 1,000 Needles attack. Cactuar will leap into the air and spray the battlefield with a thousand needles, causing major non-elemental damage. To acquire Cactuar, you must first travel coincidentally to Cactuar Island; there, defeat Jumbo Cactuar, who will randomly appear out of the surface, and this GF is all yours. It also has excellent GF abilities when you have it equipped, including a +1 bonus to major stat categories with each level up.
Fight!
Well, these are two pretty swell summons in my opinion. But I give the slightest edge to Cactuar, because he doesn't hurt your party with his attack.

Hmm, I wonder why it took about a week for a decent amount of votes to come in. Usually there are several more than this, and only takes a couple days for people to vote.
Next Battle:
Golem - FFV - This summon will protect you from physical attacks with his mighty hand. This move is called Earth Wall. Acquire this summon at the Valley of Flying Dragons.
vs.
Bahamut - FFIX - Just like most versions from other Final Fantasies, this summon will deal non-elemental damage to all enemies. This is one of the summons that only Garnet can use. It's attack is, once again, Mega Flare. Beatrix will give this Eidolon to you.
Fight!
Meh, I rarely use summons that protect me from physical/magical attacks. So I'll vote for Bahamut.

Bahamut's pretty generic. On top of being a dragon (the most overused thing in the entire fantasy genre), it's just like every other Bahamut. Golem, on the other hand, is truly useful.

So while a couple people found Golem to be quite the useful summon, there were just far too many votes going against it for it to stand a real chance.
Next Battle:
Anima - FFX - One of the most demonic looking summons in recent Final Fantasy history, even if it's head resembles that of a fish. It's Unique Attack is called Pain, in which Anima will unleash misery and anguish onto a single foe. It has a high chance of causing instant death, as well as quick recovery time. It's overdrive, Oblivion, is arguably the most horrible of all the Aeons from FFX. This deadly attack will draw enemies underground, almost to a parallel world, where they will be met by Anima's lower half. It will then pummel your enemies to death more than once. You can acquire Anima in the Baaj Temple.
vs.
ChocoMog - FFVII - A moogle, which is wearing a sort of karate belt on it's forehead, is riding on the back of a Chocobo. Together, they charge towards the enemy, causing non-elemental damage and a chance of Stop. There's a 1 in 16 chance Fat Chocobo will appear and land on all enemies, causing slightly more damage than Deathblow!!. You can acquire ChocoMog at the Chocobo Ranch. Listen to the Chocobo singing, and you'll get the materia.

Maduin- The leader of the Esper people and also Terra's father. Uses the non-elemental attack Chaos Wing. You can learn Fire, Ice and Bolt 3 from him, also gives a MagPwr +1 at each level up.

Next battle....
Magus Sisters- The three sisters, Cindy, Mindy and Sandy, go from being bosses in FFIV to being a summon in FFX. Their special attacks being Sandy - Razzia, Cindy - Camisade and Mindy - Passado. They have the Overdrive, "Delta attack" doing heavy damage to the enemy.
VS
Bahamut (FFVI)- The King of Dragons is obtained in FFVI by defeating Doom Gaze, but do not try using the Vanish/Doom trick or you shall lose the Bahamut magicite. He attacks with the attack Sun Flare, just like Mega Flare except with a different name.
