If I can remember correctly I used EkszBox-ABX (do a google search).

That doesn't work on the PC version so I'm assuming you used it exclusively on the Xbox version.

@Alpha23: Yeah, perhaps they saved the music with ambient sound, but I don't think that's possible. On PS2, there's no ambient sound in the background, and same on PC, so I don't know why it's mixed just on Wii. Perhaps you can say how did you rip the game so I can do it myself? I'm assuming you have a script to extract the Streams.dat with the PAK files around in the directory that gives original filenames. Is it possible to know how did you do it? Perhaps not here if you want, but by PM? Because I really want to rip this game, ToWav can extract the PC version but without original filenames, and there are 2438 files so I have to search the music and I don't know the game very well so I have to compare with videos, it's a little bit hard, and there's fuzzy sound on PC, so it's not the highest quality. And for PS2, it's the same, not fuzzy sound but I don't know how to write a script with PAK files that help.

Huge thanks for SW Alpha, GW2 could be a bit better but SE of reboot already comes really close to The witcher 2 & even Bulletstorm (I`ve just started listening to ingame score but it`s quite swell even at that point)!
And to Goshi: I`m glad you`ve sorted it all out although you question felt weird on my end from the beginning. Why should Timo purposefully degrade his streamed rip to a custom soundtrack (he did those many years ago as a member of VGM Legacy but it was literally eons ago!) wasting additional time while doing that mixing of clean music with ambience? I believe it`s obvious Wii port was treated that way because of lack of disc space (it`s not 1.28GB of its predecessor GC but still) while PC and maybe X360 earned their BGMs without any unwanted SFX thanks to double layer DVDs or HDDs with virtually unlimited capacity ceiling. Take AitD '08: PS2 & WII versions don`t have highly interactive segmented and most importantly isolated soundtrack but XB platform does. It even appears that previous generation variants of the game have abridged and ambience-infested versions of otherwise the same thing which can only be truly experienced on Xbox or maybe PS3/PC. I reckon BM on Nintendo consoles suffered because of the same reasons.
Also it`s so strange you keep asking about origin of those 20 (or was it 19 or 21?) MP3s from SM3 PC especially after you said you tried to rip it yourself and even specified bank filename (soundtrack_lizard.csb). Isn`t it plain that those select tracks were originally encoded using MPEG1-LayerIII codec? Take the very 1st UAZ 4x4 Racing installment developed on Chrome engine: no one except devs themselves can tell why part of jukebox fodder in main music folder is in WMA while remainder is MP3 (and they also used OGG as TechLand does in their own games for menu themes, stingers and such). This is the same story with a different VG I guess.
And while static`s bad why should you spend so much time with LWAVs there if XB360 rip is available? I didn`t compare the latter rip track-by-track to computer one but I didn`t notice that any key composition present in PC port is missing on X360. XMAs decode to crystal clean PCM files but if you still feel like working with ToWAV converted ADPCM tracks then you can always use noise reduction functions of any big audio editor. It may take much time though plus ideal results are very hard to get.
Bye!
PS. Hey Alpha23, are TMNT`s movies really of Bink nature? I updated RADTools a month and two weeks ago but it`s supposed to process videos coming from a 3-year old title, am I right?

note: Strangely, the X360 version doesn't have music in its cutscenes, thus the lower track count.

You should know by now that many games have ambience mixed into their music to save on in-game cache. The Wii version even has uncompressed audio, so there's every reason to mix those two together.

@Alpha23 : You're just skipping my question. I just wanted to know what script you used to extract the Streams.dat archive with original filenames, please.
I can't remember and there's no script included in the rip so it must have been something really simple. Look at the dat file header and see if you can find a script on XeNTaX or Zenhax.

I downloaded the game again and took a look at the lvl files. I think I extracted the tracks by hand and added an Xbox ADPCM header according to the header information. The structure was analyzed here: http://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=1888

I know we'd much rather talk about music & how quickly we can download it rather than the complications of trying to get it, but would anyone happen to have any insight to some Xbox 360 XMAs that ToWAV.exe doesn't seem to want to do any business with? Gears of War 3 namely.

I've been getting my hands on ISOs for the Gears of War games, and whilst I've been highly successful with the Gears of War 2 base game with everything extracted & XMA-to-WAV short of a German Line smooth as butter (Umodel's not been fond of my Gears of War ISO, but I've got the PC copy to suit my needs), Gears of War 3's been giving me quite a challenge. I run the ISO through eXISO or VGMToolBox, UE Viewer/umodel.exe grabs the XMAs from the .xxx files pretty much effortlessly, then I hit a brick wall; towav.exe doesn't want to convert the XMAs into WAV.

After finding this technique: http://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=2067#p11028, I've had successful results with music files, but not SFX & dialogue (Something I happen to be looking for as well), and relevantly to music, I seem able only to do one at a time no matter what little fiddling I know to do with the .BAT.

Perhaps the problem is these XMAs are headerless, as I've encountered the same trouble with Bulletstorm's Xbox 360 XMAs (But with a PC version that's far easier to work with & Alpha23's kind offerings, that ain't exactly something I'm too bothered about), but I can't pretend to know anything about that as this is my first dip into grabbing data from consoles. Would there happen to be a particular process via VGMToolBox or some other tool I've missed that could achieve getting those XMAs into WAVs simultaneously? Any information would be much appreciated (Including why I'm in way over my head & should go straight back to PC, because with how that devours my spare time as it is, I'm certainly thinking that myself). Don't worry, I won't dare ask about the DLC, because I've safely determined I ain't getting into those.

UPDATE

Hi guys!

I know it's been a long long time since I've been on this forum. I may have neglected some of the things I used to do. First I was on vacation for four weeks. After that I had a mental breakdown and was stationary for a week and lived two weeks at my girlfriend's home (I normally live alone). I've changed my medication and so far I'm doing better. But it doesn't stop there. Last week I had a disc prolapse in my loin (at age 32) which until now forbids me to work or do anything productive. I get physio therapy and it's slowly getting better. I don't wish anyone the pain I had to endure during the last weeks. The disability not forces me to quit my self-employment because my funding is in the red at the moment and I cannot pay several bills. I'm on my way to request public funding but it's very bureaucratic here.
So, yeah, the luck wasn't quite on my side lately. I'm trying to sort my life, maybe move out, try some new things like searching for a trainee position and take care of my finances. I haven't forgotten this forum or the ripping I used to do and I'm willing to get back to it but at the moment, my mind is somewhere else.
I hope you stay put and are patient until I resume what I've been doing although it might not be in the same intensity as before.

We upload in lossless because we transcode the audio files from their original formats into .WAV and then edit them to play through twice (if they loop) and then apply a fade out if necessary. After that we save them into a lossless format to avoid further quality degredation because 95% of games use a lossy compression scheme on its audio. For me personally, if I know a game has used lossless audio I state that in the original post.

I hope that answers the question for you :)
Do you have any idea whether games on the FM Towns, like "Kyukyoku Tiger," used lossy or lossless encoding for their audio? According to Wikipedia "[g]ames on the FM Towns regularly used Red Book (audio CD standard) orchestral music tracks, especially if they were designed specifically for the Fujitsu system (Games ported from the PC9801, for instance, might have used only PCM/FM music)."

This is from a "lossless" rip from the game Kyukyoku Tiger (FM Towns version):

If I understand correctly, lossless tracks have frequencies that extend all the way to 22 kHz (like the above spectrum shows), while MP3 320kbps (CBR) has a frequency cut-off at 20.5 kHz.

The original game has CD audio tracks so a true lossless rip should be possible. However, all the images floating around on the Internet seem to have been created from sources that had their audio converted to mp3. The "lossless rip" that you are looking at was likely created from such an iso, with the creator being unaware of this issue.

Greetings from the dead

Hello everyone. It's been SOME time since I logged in here or even looked at the forum. Just wanted to tell you that I'm fine. :)

I miss ripping and I really want to get back to it. However there's quite a big problem I have. Last year my USB stick with all my scripts and programs now unavailable online stopped working. Sadly I haven't made a backup (don't say anything - I guess it happened to all of you once), so they seem 'almost' lost. Except that a data recovery service will probably be able to recover the files. The problem is, that I just don't have the money for this (as you know I'm unemployed at the moment). These services charge by size of medium and as this is a 32GB stick, they'll charge for the whole size. If anybody knows a service that only charges for the rescued data, please let me know. Otherwise, I'd need a sponsor for the job OR somebody who can repair the stick themselves. I'll be willing to send it over to you, no matter where you are. Once repaired, just send it back my way.
Here's the problem with the stick: It is recognized as a removable media with no media present. I've searched for solutions but only came up with people who sent the stick back to the manufacturer and got a replacement or got their data recovered for lots of money.
I won't update myself about all the posts done in a year or so, so if there's any news like a cracked PS4 or Xbox One (haha ;) ), please let me know.
I guess there's nothing more to say but to look forward to continue ripping again once the stick is repaired. Hope to hear from you soon! :)

Regards, Timo

In the mean time may I ask you if we can expect you to post selected rips of yours from time to time? Believe me, I won't request too much and will surely choose wisely! I just hope it'd not be too bothersome for you to upload an older rip or two from time to time.

Hi Timo! I guess I can give you an update on streamed VGM scene and try to make it succinct yet informative enough. It's not quite like this

cracked PS4 or Xbox One
but there's definitely some news in regards to previously unplayable codecs and new tools dedicated to splitting audio banks into individual streams without losing original format thus preserving loop points. Here's a short list consisting of everything that immediately came to mind.
I. Now playable by VGMstream:

*.04sw which is DSP variation coming from your rip of Driver: Parallel lines for Wii;
*.aa3 although AT3+ has been supported for quite some time now;
*.bik - both split mono / stereo tracks (*.audio.split.bik) and multi-channel ones (*.audio.bik). VGMstream only plays the very first stream IE channel from the latter though so that it's still recommended to check "split audio tracks" option in VGMToolBox;
*.fsb containers holding OGG Vorbis (including FSB5), Xbox / IMA 4-bit ADPCM (including 6 channel streams), interleaved FSB MPEG (5.1 mixes are supported too!) and many other formats. There're some bugs after using fsbii though as the 2nd, 3rd and so on ADPCM stream from a bank might sound with static when played with VGMstream or converted with ToWAV;
*.hca standing for the newest CRI sound format;
*.mta2 Konami 4-bit ADPCM from MGS4 (there're actually three different extensions for those files but they were all encoded using the very same codec);
*.oma from some PSP videos;
*.p3d originated from Prototype (2009) & Prototype 2 for X360;
*.rws containing GameCube or Xbox 4-bit ADPCM plus many different codecs;
*.wem (or *.Wwise or *.rifx) IE Audiokinetic streams, be it Vorbis which can be converted with ww2ogg, IMA that can be dealt with using ima_rejigger or multiple console ADPCM variations like HEVAG used on PS Vita;
*.xma: both XMA1 & XMA2, mono and stereo, quad or surround mixes;
*.xvag including those nasty 6ch. MP3s from InFamous 1 or The last of us, Uncharted 3 and some different Sony VGs;
*.xwma, both standard and contained in XWB container split with help of xwb_split.

II. Recent utilities:

fsb5_split, a program that lets user make numerous playable single-stream FSBs out of original FSB5 sound archive;
xwb_split works in a similar way but it's obvious that it only works with XWB containers.

III. Various news:
TXTH has just been introduced which is kinda virtual GENH and you can have a single .wip.txth file in a folder with headerless *.WIP files for example (this is Colin McRae DiRT for PC I'm talking about). That way you'll be able to play them all but of course audio codec and even track specs should be the very same for each and every file. One can always make loc_germany.WIP.txth with another frequency if he thinks that specific aforementioned file sounds too fast when using .wip.txth.

I hope this was useful to you as it may change your ripping techniques a bit. Let me express it once more that I hope you'll return to active ripping in future! It'd be truly fantastic to see such an experienced, thorough and overall advanced ripper at work again!
Bye!

PS. May I kindly ask you to release you rip of Wolfenstein: The new order (PC) whenever you have time? I'll really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I guess so but keep in mind I've never ripped any ME title myself. I'm speaking theoretically but I'm almost sure that all the tracks coming from ME2, ME3 and their DLCs which were encoded using Audiokinetic Vorbis should be playable now without need for any conversion.
Of course a ripper still has to extract individual streams from given *.bnk or *.pck banks and there're Alpha's BMS scripts dedicated to such tasks. One should be able to find those unpacking scripts on XeNTaX forum but I hope it won't be considered offtopic if I post links to them here. Or should this discussion better move to PM?
Bye!

@Alpha23: Yes, it was so bothersome to decode all XMAs or BIKs, XWMAs and AT9s to PCM just to be able to listen to them! I also remember HCS saying that XMA implementation was possible a few years ago but it's gonna be without any looping so that addition of the codec to VGMstream is hardly needed. Whatever... I'd deal with absence of loops perfectly fine but it's just me, I actually play back tracks with loops disabled 99% of time and don't find it discomforting at all. It's just my opinion I guess...
I tried to extract some OGGs from single-stream FSBs some time ago but all individual streams came out as headerless. I presume it's still like that because there's even a NOTE in the tool's help text: "OGG files are dumped as-is and are not playable". I suppose it's no big deal nowadays as we have plugin at hand which can play back those split FSB5 tracks (IE single-stream FSBs).

@Dark_Ansem: I believe there're no plugins for FSBext, this program is updated from time to time but no plugins for it are really needed. Alpha was obviously talking about VGMstream.

Cheers!

Dark_Ansem

@JBTND I get it now, thanks.

I have to say however, that VGMstream isn't perfect by far: certain XMA won't work, and FSB4 is not recognised as a container.

JBTND
07-22-2017, 05:04 PM
Those should be old "transmogrified" XMA2 files rebuild to XMA1 with help of XMA_Parse and numerous BMS scripts, Bnnm rerips those VGs himself whenever he has time to process a few XBLA titles and post them on the forum. However there're actually some 100% original and untouched 5.1 XMA tracks that still don't work like those coming from DMC4 or MUA1 (quad ones). I guess it's the matter of time as they should become playable at some point.
When it comes to FSB# this plugin doesn't classify such files as FSB ones but specifies actual codec in a respective field of file properties. Or were you talking about some other issue?

Whatever the matter you can always upload some samples for him in a thread dedicated to VGMstream and Bnnm will probably add support for them soon.
Regards, JBTND.

HUGE UPDATE

Guys, this is just fantastic. First, I got a rate on the stick, which was over 600 - obviously more than I could pay. But then I looked at all my HDDs lying around my home and dug up some that I didn't touch for a year. Guess what I found: A complete backup of ALL my scripts!! Obviously I was smart after all and backed them up! :D :D :D I have no idea why I didn't look at these old drives in the first place!
I have already ordered a return of the stick but I will destroy it obviously.
So, well, see you soon with some rips of mine. :)
No requests for now, I have to get accustomed to ripping again first. ;)

P.S.: I just read the last few posts. About XMA: Does that mean that all the already transformed XMA files are useless? I'm talking about the XMA2 to XMA1 converted ones (that I obviously used over the years).

About XMA: does that mean that all the already transformed XMA files are useless? I'm talking about the XMA2 to XMA1 converted ones.
They definitely do not seem to be useless to me! I don't think you absolutely need to just stop everything and proceed to reripping all X360 titles which used XMA files that weren't convertible from the very start and required header manipulation, parsing, demultiplexing into stereo pairs of channels, etc. Personally I haven't started doing anything like that with all those HCS sets I had to transform back in the day (you know, simply extract individual streams out of XWB or FSB banks, transmogrify them with XMA_Parse and even rebuild 2+ channel XMA2 tracks to a few stereo XMA1 ones) although some of them don't play in VGMstream now.
Bnnm himself might think that technically all transmogrified (transformed, parsed, converted, w-e) audio files must be reripped at some point but it'd surely be such an enormous effort! The same applies to AT3+ to AA3 rips or sets made with FSBext / UnXWB instead of FSBii / XWB_Split and most listeners of streamed gamerips aren't so interested. Of course some games are reripped every now and then but generally speaking no one has started a huge campaign to get rid of all converted XMAs yet.

On the other hand Bnnm's personal opinion on the matter "to rerip or not rerip?" appears to be based mainly on the subject of loops. He sometimes encourages folks to redo some X360 or PSP titles which are loopless ATM to reacquire original untouched and now playable XMA / AT3 tracks but when Knurek asked him if all WW2OGGed rips should actually be redone now Bnnm replied that he doesn't see real need for such work as ww2ogg.exe always (usually) saves looping info in resulting OGGs.
All the best!

PS. I'm wondering if you'd actually like to rerip Wolfenstein: The new order for PC using some special BMS file from xentax... I'd surely wait for your own rip of that title to become as good as it gets!
I mean it'd be totally magnificent if your version had not only properly demuxed videos but also original filenames for all BGM tracks (which are only present in OrangeC's rip ATM)!

Nice find - of course that demands a rerip! Onwards to downloading another 43 GB...

Very cool you're back. I was like "when he will be back" and then you're here. I have a question though, I read your posts and I know you're not on requests but do you still work on the Monsters vs. Aliens ? It was an old request you have added into the list since a long time. I was just wondering.
No, sorry. I'll focus on the rips I want to get out first and then we'll see.

Big thanks for both platforms of Yamaha supercross! BTW I remember ATV Quad kings for Wii used the same format (or was it just the same extension while codec was different?) so that you may try your new script on its SDF files too. I guess it's not really a request...

I can probably do The Force Unleashed 1.

I'm sorry but I ripped all the platforms for Bee Movie Game, PC;X360;Wii;PS3;PS2 but without original filenames. Ok man I see I'm not welcome in here, even if I'm one of the only person which still comment here, there are no reasons though. Since a long time you're ignoring me or if you don't ignore me, you reply curtly. So, what's the problem, just say it clearly, I post too much requests? You know you're not obliged to rip them. I actually saw your posts you know. I think i'm missing something but I dont know why.

Give the man a break. He has literally just returned and you are just as oppressive as ever.

Hi Alpha, here's some short list of currently incomplete releases:
1) 041 - Renegade Ops (2011) PC misses both PS3 & X360 versions.
2) 052 - Full Auto 2: Battlelines (2007) PSP (BTW it should lead from main index to this post (Thread 119745)) currently misses PS3 ver.
3) 029 - Serious Sam 3: BFE (2011) PC is missing X360 (maybe you have it done already but it's not posted here?), PS3, MAC & Linux versions ATM.
4) 038 - Burnout CRASH! (2011) XBLA misses PSN and IOS ports.
5) 011 - Armored Core V [JP] (2012) X360 is currently missing PS3 ver.
6) 308 - Armored Core: Verdict Day (2013) X360 doesn't have PS3 version.
7) 056 - I Am Alive (2012) PC misses XBLA and PSN ports (strangely enough I'm almost sure you have rip from IAA for X360, it's never been posted here though).
I guess I can track down many other titles if you're really interested. See you!

Can't you use like G.Drive instead ? 1fichier links quickly expire

I know the question is asked to Alpha23, but you're right. But, G Drive files expire quickly also. I know that 4shared and Flvto keep a lot of their files, so, it might be the solution. Also, G Drive is direct download, which can bug at whatever moment if the connection has a bug.

Wolfenstein: The New Order ~ 2014 ~ PC

Thank you so much for this. I just started making a full New Order OST compilation two days ago, but I had no cutscenes music. And some dude posted your thread in one of the videos yesterday, and you have all the cutscenes separate sound layers, this is a treasure indeed.

Do you plan to do the same thing with the Old Blood cutscenes music as well?

@Alpha23: Thank you so much for both BFE & that AoT2 DLC (although I haven't grabbed the latter IE "Army of two: The 40th day - Chapters of deceit" yet)!
And while we're still tracking down those titles which are currently incomplete ITT let me suggest some VGs you might look into:
040 - Mindjack (2011) X360 is missing PS3 ver. in your thread ATM. It uses quite typical 4-bit Sony ADPCM for BGM so there shouldn't be trouble ripping it from given bigfile and making SS2 (?) tracks with your respective BMS;
035 - Mortal Kombat - Komplete Edition (2012) PS3 doesn't have X360 ver. along with later PC release posted yet but I guess it's better to rerip all platforms now preserving original container type. I mean I'm almost sure if you split given FSBs found inside Music_*.xxx archives into many custom *.fsb files containing just one stream in each of them (using FSBii I think) then resulting tracks are going to be readily playable by VGMstream.
With PS3 it's much more complicated I suppose... There're high chances that the 2nd, 3rd and so on streams from each initial bank would sound with lots of static if you attempt to use method similar to aforementioned one. I reported this issue to Bnnm and provided some samples from a different game but he said that it should probably be FSBii itself causing trouble, not VGMstream unable to play single-stream ADPCM FSB files right.
In any case I presume that you can always simply provide original FSB banks found inside XXX containers in PC/PS3 ver. and let users decode those with ToWAV. That program gotta convert each 4ch track into a pair of stereo PCM files but it's better than nothing I guess;
031 - UFC Personal Trainer: The Ultimate Fitness System (2011) X360 misses PS3 & Wii platforms and I'm afraid there might the same problem with individual track FSBs too.
As for Wii I believe there should be DSP or even IMA ADPCM encoded audio so that all in all this exact port should be significantly easier to rip;
036 - Spider-Man: Edge of Time (2011) DS doesn't have 3DS, PS3, WII & X360 platforms. You see I'm just pointing it out to you, I'm definitely not suggesting that you simply need to forget about everything and start processing all those ports at once as it would be huge effort. It'd be fantastic though if you managed to add at least one "real" platform (you know how abridged those DS or PSP versions usually are, plus they're in horrible quality and normally in mono) for this VG at some point because I'd really like to check this original score out!
028 - Ridge Racer Unbounded (2012) PC should only benefit if you added PS3 & X360 ports of the title. Unfortunately all the files (or most of them at the very least) used by game are packed into some custom bigfiles as OJ said years ago so this specific installment in the series might be unrippable even now;
026 - Prototype (2009) PC is missing PS3 & X360 versions ATM. BTW given P3D files from both PC & X360 should be playable right away now, you just have to extract given bigfiles with some specific tools dedicated to unpacking Radical entertainment archives and zip resulting *.p3d containers from all the Music folders.
Ripping PS3 should be more involved though, there's some nasty interleaved MPEG (maybe there're 2 mono MP3s contained in each P3D file coming from PlayStation 3 port so it's somewhat similar to the structure utilized on PC with its pairs of mono ADPCM files);
020 - Dragon's Dogma [JP] (2012) X360 currently doesn't have PS3 platform. It might be super easy to rip another port of this title but on the other hand it can be really hard as I have no idea what archive types (?), containers and / or codecs are used there;
001 - Adidas miCoach (2012) X360 misses PS3 platform. Now what can I say about soundtrack from this VG? It's rather short APM tracklist but I still enjoyed it to an extent to I wouldn't mind listening to it once more if you ever decide to process another port.

Goodbye!

Edit: please fix these in index:
527 - Marvel: Ultimage Alliance 2 ~ 2009 ~ PS2, PSP, PS3, X360 (2 similar typos on the game's page too);
090 - Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor (2012) X360 (there's the same kind of misspelling in the post itself).
I guess I should have pointed out these two releases much earlier but somehow I kept forgetting about them or something.

In regards to SS3: PS3 link leads to DL page for X360 ver. instead and vise versa. My guess is that you'd like to edit that post too and swap those multiup.org links.

Wow, thanks for these. ;)
Then let me name a few more:

343 - F1 2013 (2013) PC doesn't have MAC, PS3 & X360 platforms (was it proud of damn NFS bigfiles on consoles which even you couldn't unpack? Then we're doomed!);
330 - Might & Magic X: Legacy (2013) PC is almost complete but MAC ver. is still missing;
326 - Shadowrun Returns (2013) PC would be much more complete accompanied by versions for Android, IOS, Linux, Macintosh;
306 - Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (2011) PC/PS3 needs addition of X360 version;
266 - Spawn: Armageddon (2003) PS2 lacks both GC & XBox ports. Now that you fully understood DSP format ripping GameCube might be a breeze for you. Or so I hope... At least another platform is definitely a breeze;
143 - Cortex Command (2012) PC gotta benefit with Linux / Macintosh versions added whenever possible;
083 - Deep Black (2012) PC/XBLA misses PSN ver.;
034 - Tropico 4 (2011) X360 is currently lacking Macintosh along with XBox versions. BTW index link is broken ATM, it should lead to this (Thread 119745).
005 - DiRT: Showdown (2012) PC is missing LNX, MAC, PS3 & X360 versions.

That's all for now; see you in a bit!
Cheers!

Alpha23, thank you very much for all the hard work you do, and thank you especially for the reups of SW Unleashed. I want to say that I'm sincerely sorry for having spammed and disturbed all of you in this thread. I literally polluted the pages with my messages, my requests and my nonsense messages that are clearly uncompreensible and not pleasant to read. I want to say I will make a lot of effort, trying to reduce my messages into one very well writeen (I'll try), and more thoughtful. I know it's been a long time I do this, but this time it will be the good time. I finally understood completely how this thread work, how you guys work and the contrast between your type of messages and me. Also, Alpha23, if you want me to reupload Outlast 1 & Outlast Whistleblower, because the links are down, I can do it. Which hoster though ? Because I don't have the optical fiber and it would take a long time to do it on MultiUpload, but I can try doing it. Which hosters should I chose ? 4shared ? 2shared ? Let me know if you want me to do it, or if you prefer doing it yourself.
You sound reasonable for the first time. Well done. :)

Ok so it's reuploaded, thanks Alpha23, good for everyone who's searching for this. Thanks to you, I know how to have the actual original names. I know that Memory Names With Source Path are better because in this game, the songs are called like "brass cluster only verb loop 01", and this isn't very helpful for people who wants to know where the specific music plays, since the Memory Names Source Path contain Level Name + Condition Name. But, the problem with this is that there are a lot of duplicates, like for the music called "Surgeon Nano Swarm" for example, there's a track for COURTYARD and a track in an another level, but if you use Memory Name Simple instead, just the music name, without Source Path, you could replace all the duplicates since they will have the same name. Then, we can have an overview of the true number of tracks. I wonder if there's an another solution instead of merging all the TXT and just select the aligned ID/names from Memory Names of all separated TXT, then copy the TXT content into Excel and make one column with REN all over, the second with the name of the track .ogg, with " " and the third with Memory Name.ogg with " ", then copy the text only and paste it into Notepad and regiser into BAT file. Maybe we can just use SoundbanksInfo.xml that is well organized and contain the normal name. Outlast 2 only contains SoundbanksInfo.xml, so we are obliged to use if iwe want the original filenames. No TXTs anymore. Good rip for Outlast 1 & Whistleblower, Alpha23.

I see what you mean. Normally I scan the files with antitwin to remove duplicates. I don't have access to my HDD right now but you could run the program in the rip folder and see if it comes up with something.

Ok, thanks for the answer. I'll check this out. I may want to mention that your TMNT 2007 rip for XB360 have missing tracks (I re-did a rip for the version because I was surprised that there were tracks from PS2 I didn't see in your XB360 rip). Just to let you know. I just used DecUbiSnd to scan the soundxe.big file. I obtained 755 segmented files & layers. In fact, in your rip, you have 800 XMAs but the problem is that most of the time the segments are duplicates, the same. But for me, they are different. For example, 655 to 700 it's for you Tower Power, but for me it's another new music.

Thank you all the same as it's still quite an opportunity for me to revisit this nice score! I'd never bitch about GC sound quality anyway because I know about its max DVD size.

BTW did Xbox ver. use XWB for storing BGM or were there just plain ADPCM files with standard WAV headers inside Music.pak or something? I don't really remember as I ripped that specific ver. eons ago.
If there're *.xwb containers though you could use XWB_Split.exe by Bnnm on them I guess. As I said it's kinda FSBii but for XWBs instead of FSBs.

Yes, they were in a xwb container. The one with the filenames included. Does xwb_split save file names? I know that there is sometimes the problem that there are less names than files. Luckily in this case the numbers matched.

I've checked Outlast and found 13 duplicates, so you're right. The reason why I save the folders is indeed to see the game's usage of the files. Normally there are not many duplicates but I'll see that I'll delete them in the future. As for the naming, I'll stick to the folder structure because it holds more information than the file name itself. You could use Flexible Renamer to remove the part you feel is unneeded step by step. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok, thansk for the answer. Yes I think it's good to have full source names and I wasn't thinking about a renamer. I only have Ant Renamer, will use Flexible Renamer now. Also, want to mention, your rip of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows on X360 have cutted XMAs, I explain : for example, the XMA track 828662.xma in your rip cut off at 00:21 but the real track lasts 00:26 (you can verify with your PS3/PC/Wii rip, same ID). It makes this with a lot of other files, and also, some other files only last 1 second while on PS3 they are 30 seconds long for example. Thanks for the Wii rip though, it looks like it has been hard to rip.

@Alpha23: about XWB Split tool:

Also I've updated xwb_split again, should get all names correctly and cover most cases (if given proper flags when asked).
It was posted on March 5 and this prog received at least one different update since then. I didn't test it too much though, I believe you should see if it works on every specific title you try it on.
I suppose it's not really good for batch processing as it normally needs XSBs (you have to specify some key, was it -I? if you want it to ignore *.xsb files and search for filenames in *.xwb containers instead). Did I ask your question?

BTW do you still need these incomplete releases? Anyway here they are:
376 - Dishonored: The Brigmore Witches ~ 2013 ~ PC/X360
375 - Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall ~ 2013 ~ PC/X360
374 - Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials ~ 2013 ~ PC/X360
179 - Dishonored (2012) PC & X360 misses PS3 platform ATM and the same applies to DLCs listed above;
302 - Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 (2012) PC
298 - Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 (2012) Wii
189 - Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 (2012) X360: PS3 and Wii U ports are missing;
372 - Payday 2 ~ 2013 ~ PC/X360 awaits just single upload so that it becomes complete: you ripped PS3 ver. long time ago but for some reason never posted it here;
369 - Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons ~ 2013 ~ PC: many platforms are currently missing but only Android, IOS, PS3, X360 are rippable at this point;
231 - Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth (2012) X360 is lacking rip from Wii U port;
207 - Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction (2010) PC & X360 is mainly missing Macintosh ver. but there're also Android, IOS, Windows Mobile & Ouya versions (I don't even have the slightest idea if the latter is possible to rip LOL!);
200 - Mountain Bike Adrenaline ~ 2007 ~ PS2 lacks PC variant;
188 - Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) X360 misses the following platforms: Android, iOS, PC, PS3, VITA, Wii U;
176 - Resident Evil 6 (2012) PS3 doesn't have X360 port (ripped a while ago but not posted here I guess?) plus PC ver.;
007 - Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (2012) X360 needs addition of PC/PS3 to become complete.
Later!

IMA ADPCM has 4 bit audio data so there's quite a lot of high frequency noise going on. X360 has 16 bit, so there's no noise.

You definitely had those ripped and even shared at some point, at least X360 versions. You probably deleted those when Bink videos became demuxable so that backing up wave images of audio tracks became unneeded and too space-consuming.

Can somebody send me dl links or a torrent?
So you can actually use P2P protocols these days? It makes everything different now and I guess I can actually help you find ISOs without the need to DL from crappy hosters like Rapidu or UL.To (getting a copy of even PSN/XBLA title would be bothersome in that scenario).

Not going to do that. It's best that "others" (copyright holders and those who act in their interest) see that sharing of such material has been stopped. If we leave tracklist+etcetera they'll (rightly) assume users will still contact you privately to request download links for those rips.

Alpha23

So, uhm, I have found quite a big task to do: I'll try to write an automatic renamer for the Wwise system. Basically parse the SoundbanksInfo.xml into an array, try to open each individual file and if found re-write it to the correct path. Why? Because of reasons...
No seriously, I'll need that more often than I wish I did. The biiiiiig problem lies in parsing the xml file into something usable because the structure is quite erratic. But I try to come up with something intelligent. Gladly I don't have to convert each string of a number to a number because I want to open the file, so that's easy enough.
So yeah, don't ask me what I'm doing - I'm busy now. ;)

---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:24 PM ----------

Haha, actually it's extremely easy I noticed!! :D

include "func_getTYPE.bms"
for i
FindLoc SEARCH string "<File Id=" 0 ""
if SEARCH == ""
cleanexit
endif
goto SEARCH
getDstring DUMMY 10
getCT DIDX string 0x22
string DIDX += ".wav"
math SEARCH += 10
goto SEARCH
FindLoc SEARCH string "<Path>" 0 ""
goto SEARCH
getDstring DUMMY 6
getCT FNAME string 0x3c
string FNAME -= 4
open FDSE DIDX 1 EXIST

get SIZE asize 1
log MEMORY_FILE 0 0
log MEMORY_FILE 0 SIZE 1
callfunction getTYPE 1
string FNAME += EXT
log FNAME 0 SIZE MEMORY_FILE
endif
next i
And this even includes a file type scanner, which adjusts the extension accordingly.
Noted though, it will run quite some time through a 20 MB sized SoundbanksInfo.xml... ;)

Mh thanks for this, but can you explain for which usage this script has been written ? Please ?
Games that use the Middleware Wwise sound engine (http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/middleware-wwise) have their files packed into pck and bnk files, which can be extracted using my script on XeNTaX. Inside the archives the files are saved under their according ID (DIDX) of the engine. Now, sometimes there's an XML file that has all the info needed for the game among which is the actual file name and folder position. Until now I had to manually trace every file ID and rename every single file, which took really long as you can imagine. The script does that automatically now. I've just tested this on over 7000 extracted files and the script ran for about 5 minutes through a 26 MB xml file.
This is a major breakthrough because it's now impossible to miss any files! :D
For all of you who don't want to read all this stuff, here's the needed info:

UPDATE

Games using the Wwise sound engine can now be ripped much faster and much more safely in terms of missing files!

Mygoshi2

I would suggest removing

string NAME += " ("
string NAME += BNAME
string NAME += ")"

From the script that extract content of BNKs archives with BKHD identifier because I think it's better to only have the proper ID's without anything after? Thanks in advance.
+ Rename Wwise output extension to WEM? It's now supported by vgmstream.

I can't seem to use your script, Alpha. I extracted the BNKs from Outlast (to test) with the BKHD Ident script, then I putted the SoundbanksInfo.xml in the same folder and used your script. I get an error in QuickBMS. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Which error message to you get?

I edited the previous message, I will try using your new script. But can you explain the thing ? Like we just need to have the SoundbanksInfo.xml in the extracted content from BNKs folder ? Is there another thing to do ?

Error message I got after using SoundbanksInfo new script:
http://prntscr.com/g3ivth

I think I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what... Sorry for this xD
Could you please send me the complete command line picture? I need to see more. Put the xml in the folder where all the wave files are extracted and run the script on the xml (<-- maybe this was wrong?)

Ah sorry I applied the script to the WAVs sorry.

What I get : http://prntscr.com/g3j91r

It is endlessy. It doesn't stop. Is this normal?
It's not endless. Just give it some time. ;) You see, the script checks EVERY SINGLE id entry in the xml file, no matter how many duplicates there are, opens the according file (if it exists) and either writes or skips it. But no matter what, the script will open it and that takes a lot of time. You could safely skip the script once you have at least the same number if files than the wav files.

It's running for more than 5 minutes now for a 1mb SoundbanksInfo.xml file. You said it was 5 minutes for a 26Mb file. Is that logic?

You didn't mean: is that normal?

Actually, I skipped at 5 minutes... ;) The script could run... I don't know, half an hour for a 1MB file? But as I said, once you've reached the number of files in the main folder, you're good to skip the script.

I skipped, it didn't do anything. I'm sorry but I don't know what's happening... I have to save the files in an another folder or in the same? I choose in the same. Maybe the SoundbanksInfo.xml from Outlast is not supported? I don't know, I'm asking.
Works perfectly for me... you definitely did something wrong... You should have a folder with 2973 wave files (all names only consist of numbers!) and the SoundbanksInfo.xml. When you run the script on the xml, it will parse all files correctly.

I have just now downloaded the game and tested it, it works fine. What exactly did you do? Did you extract all the bnk files? Do the file names all look like 10923487.wav?

There's no rule but in most cases it's something like X360/PC > Wii/GC > PS3/PS2. The best quality is achieved by mixing the platforms together via audio editor. Always download all platforms and merge them if you do a custom soundtrack!

Thanks for this recent bunch, Alpha! There're lots of interesting soundtracks to check out for me and any visitor of the thread.
I have a question however which can be addressed to just everyone reading this: anyone actually tried listening to MIDs from Rock band Wii (Thread 119745) and if yes, did he use foobar2000 plugin? I'm wondering what the best settings (and most importantly which specific MIDI emulator) would be best for such a task. You know when you install respective plugin (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_midi) you actually get a pack of them: Emu de MIDI, bassmidi, Super MUNT GM and so on. I'm simply unsure which one should do the job better than others...
Bye!

Alpha23
09-05-2017, 09:07 AM
What was the difficulty?
1) write a script for the main archive
2) identify the music
3) write a script that makes the unsupported music format playable
The main problem lay in 3) because the files were interleaved and had a split header AND sometimes an incomplete last block, which had to be split. Else, the files needed to be re-interleaved with the standard interleave for GC ADPCM (8 bytes). Took me quite some time to get everything to work.
Btw, don't worry about the strange ending of the music files - the loop point is somewhere in the middle of the stream. Easy to determine though.

No idea. ;) I normally use the Winamp MIDI player. I'm not sure that the midis are meant to be played or if they are just the control files for the notes that the player has to play.

note: Really tricky to rip: headers were saved in separate control files; had to join header and stream in pseudo-files and then write a converter.
