COLLECTION UPDATE:

All pre-release & post-release extra music for Halo: Reach officially provided by Bungie (With renaming & additional tagging) and the Halo 4 Original Soundtrack; Volume One & included extra tracks, remix contest material & a Halo Waypoint rip of "Legacy (Halo Waypoint Edit)" app rip by penner101 (http://forums.ffshrine.org/members/penner101-238376) have been added to the collection.

The Halo 4 Original Soundtrack (Volume Two) is available in MP3 (320kbps), FLAC & Apple Lossless via the official website (Purchases provide only one of each format):
- Halo 4 Soundtrack - Volume 2 (http://www.halo4soundtrack.com/)
- Halo 4 Soundtrack :: Store (http://halo4soundtrack.spinshop.com/Home/details/191260)

I unfortunately do not possess a copy of any Limited Editions that contained a CD copy of the Remix album.

I am currently considering adding my personal music file extractions using Adjutant 4.0.0.0 of Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST & Halo: Reach, although I know for a fact they are not 100% complete (93%-98% based on recollection of audio file extraction reports), but with notable problems extracting files in their entirety regardless of method in Adjutant 4.1.0.0, despite having access to the minute amount of audio & music data 4.0.0.0 doesn't, it's not something I can allocate time to ironing out.

Anyone interested in accessing & utilising the previous content can:
- Download my held onto copy of Adjutant 4.0.0.0 here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/aq7n39zr4bicwuw/Adjutant_4.0.0.0_%28with_Plugins_%26_Helpers%29.zi p
- Visit the originating forum to acquire Adjutant 4.1.0.0 without an in-tool update, find changelogs and view other details here: Halo Maps Forum (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590)
- Acquire the entire in-game files for numerous Halo titles from Halo CE3 (http://haloce3.com/) here: Map Files (http://haloce3.com/xmf/)
- Alternatively acquire the in-game files from XboxDB's FTP server (If required: Username = publicftp & Password = password) here, if not the other recommended links provided by Halo CE3's depository that I have not used: Xbox™ Database (http://xboxdb.com/0000000001/v2.2/web/)

This is really good! There are even a few songs I didn't have yet. The only real shortcoming is the missing Halo 4 tracks (Volume 2, Remixes, and Desecration). I happen to have them, and I could PM you a link if you like.

They'd have to be WAVs, FLACs and/or other lossless formats (Which naturally require a lot of storage, upload time and can exceed free upload limits), as that's what the collection is dedicated to, despite offering MP3 320kbps. Call me a fool, but it's my intention on providing this music in formats you can't commercially acquire at present & in the foreseeable future (Or at least very easily), which is why I'm not keen on adding Halo 4's Volume 2 release as that's readily available in FLAC, ALAC/Apple Lossless & MP3 320kbps already without any need to create a permanent account (Even though I really don't get why they didn't go the full length & provide CD copies for that release).

And what about the Anniversary Editions? Remastered soundtrack on them?

Haven't got their CD releases. Never was particularly thrilled by them (Halo 2's seemed particularly unnecessary on the whole). That might change in the near future. And there's certainly no guarantees I'll be even keen on picking up Halo 5: Guardians' soundtrack, especially if it fails to see a CD just like every soundtrack release after Halo 4's Volume One (A pity considering I actually really like the Halo: Spartan Assault & Spartan Strike music).

But you can get every release following Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn's soundtrack in lossless via distributor Qobuz, with both Volume One & Two of Halo 4's Soundtrack even offered in 24bit quality.

Here are their store pages (Unfortunately, it appears you'll require a website account for the purchases, but there are many other lossless video game soundtracks to be found there including the up-to-date EA Soundtrack library):
- Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Original Soundtrack (http://www.qobuz.com/ie-en/album/halo-4-forward-unto-dawn-nathan-lanier/0887158501692)
- Halo 4 Original Soundtrack (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/halo-4-original-soundtrack-neil-davidge/5060211500947) (Also available in "Hi-Res" 24bit, 48,000KHz)
- Halo 4 Original Soundtrack (Volume Two) (http://www.qobuz.com/ie-en/album/halo-4-original-soundtrack-volume-2-neil-davidge-and-kazuma-jinnouchi/5060211501388) (Also available in "Hi-Res" 24bit, 44,100KHz)
- Halo 4 Original Soundtrack Remixes (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/halo-4-original-soundtrack-remixes-neil-davidge/5060211501098)
- Halo: Spartan Assault Original Soundtrack (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/halo-spartan-assault-tom-salta/0887158501708)
- Halo: Spartan Strike Original Soundtrack (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/halo-spartan-strike-tom-salta/0889326220671)
- Halo 5: Guardians Original Soundtrack (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/halo-5-guardians-original-game-soundtrack-kazuma-jinnouchi/0889326398455)

I'm keen to pick up the Halo: Spartan Assault & Spartan Strike music, as I'm very fond of the music and made the rookie mistake of making in-game loops rendered in WAVs from variable bit-rate MP3s (Due to the in-game files of Spartan Assault being heavily & noticeably compressed).

Will you be adding Gamerips from Halo 3? I know it can be done. Should dust off my old modding tools from back in the day.

I'm considering doing it myself (I already have as a matter of fact), but I'm not entirely sure if your method is more thorough & reliable than my own.

I've been using a tool called Adjutant (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590) (currently at version 4.1.0.1 as of a few days ago) to extract the audio data from Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach & Halo 4 (Although the latter has rather limited extraction ability, I do recall it including music, even if the quality was rather poor in comparison to the predecessors). Whilst it cannot extract cinematic music files (Which are easily found in the official OSTs anyway), it can extract next to everything to WAV that's in 1-2 channels (The rest I'm informed is multi-channel, whch may be why cinematic music might be among the minute amount of audio the tool can't extract).

The slight problem holding me back is that during version 4.0.0.0, it could perform completely reliable extractions, but there were certain exceptions it couldn't (This included a few music files). When 4.1.0.0 arrived, it pretty much turned the sound extraction process faulty even though it gave us access to most of those exceptions. V4.1.0.1 has resolved all issues regarding data accessible via 4.0.0.0 & before as far as I've tested, but the issues with the newly accessible data still exist. Being more specific, such files as the "glue_f_nochoir" loops in Halo: Reach don't extract properly (Their total length shortened and putting the loops together unmistakably non-seamless), and I'm not so certain if this is the only music track in those game files experiencing this fault.

I could certainly just provide what I've currently ripped via 4.0.0.0, or perform a new extraction using 4.1.0.0 and disclose the potential to encounter faults, but providing sub-100% functional, if not available content doesn't sit well with my inner perfectionist. So if you reckon your old tools are more suited to the job, I'd be delighted to be informed on them!
Otherwise, I'll happily do it myself (There's definitely mixes or even tracks a plenty the official OSTs weren't given, especially the full length "Inbound Imminent" from the ONI Sword Base suite, because I cannot tell you how much I love it when Marty & Mike break out the guitars).

Fond memories of ADI. Took me years to find out it could do audio extraction though. Felt like a right numpty for knowing how to swap turrets on vehicles, but not even get at least some of the WAV files of my favourite weapon SFX & music ques (Though Alpha23 covered me on the latter).

Well, I can give you a head-start on the Halo 3 audio at least (Extracted with Adjutant 4.0.0.0): http://www.machinination.com/forum/index.php?/topic/5644-the-bizarchivist-sound-collection/

I guess when you're trying to develop a title that probably would've been wiser held off as an Xbox One launch title (When you get an 6-8hr shooter on two-discs, spot the many graphical sacrifices & can nuclear-bomb the frame-rate just by customising armour for multiple players per console, you can simply tell the hardware was not in line with the game's ambition even if they manage to optimise it as well as they did), it's not just dialogue & SFX you gotta compress to oblivion.

Certainly would be lovely if we could crack that little sucker open. Quite the number of folk tryin' to get their hands on Halo 2: Anniversary models as I'm sure Halo 5: Guardians as well, and if Destiny ain't coming to PC, I don't have much hopes of getting my hands on it's delicious audio assets! (Bet if people could get it's character & weapon models, there will be a DestinyRP waiting to happen!)

Oh right! Back on topic. Well, if it is Adjutant you're using, then I'll save you the trouble and do it myself. I've pretty much done it already, but with Adjutant 4.1.0.1, I can grab myself some newer materials like vehicle SFX & missing music ques & update my own collection whilst updating this one with the music files.

Halo 2 In-Game Music (Ripped by Alpha23)

Sources: Halo 2 (Xbox)
Composers: Martin O'Donnell & Michael Salvatori, Incubus, Breaking Benjamin
Formats: WAV (Converted from LWAV), WMA, TAK
Size: 371MB (LWAV), 1.18GB (WAV)
Download (Unconverted LWAV with towav.exe included): http://www.mediafire.com/download/1k4fxovik3bw019/H2X_IGM_%28LWAV%2C_WMA_%26_TAK_Files%29.zip (MediaFire)
Download (Converted WAV): http://www.mediafire.com/download/7u135z8mvfc1cr7/H2_V2_OST_%28WAV_Files%29.zip (MediaFire)

It's not in my knowledge range why towav.exe wasn't workin' for ya (If you were dragging the LWAV files over towav.exe as instructed, maybe you're missing some essential software such as a version of Microsoft .NET Framework, of which I couldn't tell you as I've lost track), but go ahead & help yourself to the converted WAVs! Just be prepared for a much bigger download.

The LWAVs are only offered as a smaller download alternative anyway, as well as to provide the original offering as Alpha23 intended.

COLLECTION UPDATE

My personal in-game music file extractions of Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST & Halo: Reach using the tool Adjutant v4.0.0.0 are now available for download in their original form (WAV, 16bit, 44.1khz) from the collection.

I'm keen to perform an extraction for each of these with the newest version of Adjutant; v4.1.0.1 at a later date, as this version gains access to ques v4.0.0.0 can't, but on all attempts of extraction encountered issues such as the inability to extract the music file in full-length. The v4.0.0.0 versions are being offered as a "backup", as although personal tests with v4.1.0.1 have addressed major issues encountered in v4.1.0.0, I cannot guarantee none remained.

In the meantime, enjoy what is available.

Thanks for all your work, Bizargh, I really appreciate it!

I'm sure the previous info should suffice as a "Your welcome".

COLLECTION UPDATE

Lossless rips for the CD releases of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary & Halo 2 Anniversary have been added to the collection (The former including covers for the Vinyl release, mostly due to the more colourfully attractive concept-art remaster).

I would like to note that although the Halo 5: Guardians Original Soundtrack CD album has become available for pre-order for release on November 20th, I am in no hurry to pick it up. There is unfortunately no information on any digital lossless release as far as I've located, but they have released the entirety of it for listening on SoundCloud (Which I'm sure you'll swiftly spot has been quickly & keenly web-ripped to download on these forums), and since the reception has been so far positive and with 2-Discs worth of music due to arrive, I have no qualms in recommending you acquire a copy for yourself if you like what you hear.

My eye is currently on investigating another rip of Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST & Halo: Reach with the newer version of the extraction tool to grab what the previous version couldn't (I say investigate due to the errors with these newly accessible music files on extraction), as well as looking into the lossless releases of Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike and getting their in-game music files up.

Well, my CD Drive appears to be non-functional at this time. I'll be investigating the cause & solution to this problem at my earliest convenience.

So whilst I do intend to collect myself a copy of the Halo 5: Guardians Original Soundtrack CD, I naturally won't be able to perform a rip myself. Right now, getting the game music files of Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike as well as equivalent "in-game edits" from the lossless Official Soundtrack into the collection is looking to be something more keenly in sight.

EDIT: After opening & cleaning my computer, unplugging & plugging back in every relevant cable to the drive, numerous investigations into potential software errors & restarts, it resumed functionality & recognition from my PC after simply spraying an air cleaner into the drive and giving the computer a gentle to-and-fro. This thing's having a flippin' chuckle I tell ya! Well, I need to correct myself as after purchasing the soundtracks for both Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike along with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & Call of Duty: Black Ops II from Qobuz (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/) (Who even has Call of Duty: Black Ops III prepared for it's release on November 6th), I have fallen in love with this France-based digital retailer as they don't solely offer their lossless music in FLAC. Infact, they not only offer the music you purchased in WAV, WMA, AIFF & ALC in addition to FLAC, they even offer Standard (320kbps) or Low (128kbps) quality CBR (Constant Bit-Rate) downloads for your purchase anytime you seek it after purchase of the album. And they even include covers in 1200x1200 resolution! THIS is the kind of distributor that makes obsoleting CDs look like a good thing (And I'm the kind who prefers the present day assurance of physical media).

Were it not the need for an account with the site (It only asks for Username, Email & Password, so merely the essentials) & fixed prices, it would be very much on par with BandCamp as my favourite digital music provider. A drawback is it has somewhat messy naming as "01-01-Tom_Salta-Legacy-LLS", and tags/metadata can be found in French (With merely basic essential tags/metadata for WAV files).

However, this does put me in a position where I feel uncomfortable having music available from there such as Halo 4 Original Soundtrack or Halo 2 Anniversary Original Soundtrack remain available for download, as I am not interested in providing music in a form that's readily available for purchase first-hand. It's not only because I wish not to discourage support for the artists, but also because there's not as much delight in sharing something that's already available instead of something that isn't (Such as a CD-rip of the notoriously unavailable Guild Wars 2 Original Game Soundtrack, the unsold music for Metal Arms: Glitch in the System or in-game music files for our favourite games that are rarely easy to get even for owners of them).

That said, my plans to provide the original in-game music files & higher quality "in-game edits" for Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike remain unchanged, but this is seriously making me think about any future additions such as Halo 5: Guardians, as well as existing downloads for Halo 4 Original Soundtrack & Halo 2 Anniversary Original Soundtrack. I'm just not sure having a consumer's touch of tags/metadata is enough to justify them remaining available to download.

Feel free to express your thoughts on that.

STATUS UPDATE

After some thinking, I have decided in light of discovering digital lossless copies of post-Bungie Halo game soundtracks including Halo 4 & Halo 2 Anniversary on Qobuz (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/search?q=Halo&i=boutique&f[genres_list]=Soundtracks#results), I am withdrawing downloadable links for MP3 & FLAC offerings, with links directly to the Qobuz store page being provided instead.

WAV format download links currently remain available for download, but whether they will or not isn't guaranteed as I am on the fence whether the personal touch of tags/metadata to a format that typically doesn't allow for convenient editing for those without appropriate software is enough reason to keep them up when it is being readily sold internationally, so I advise you acquire them swiftly. However, I do intend to keep such content as Full Credits text documents, m3u files, etc as well as a text document with the tags/metadata I used for them, so they will remain should the WAV files be removed.

This also means the chances of me providing a CD rip of Halo 5: Guardians' soundtrack are slimmer than ever, so I recommend either visiting Qobuz (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/halo-5-guardians-original-game-soundtrack-kazuma-jinnouchi/0889326398455) & supporting the artists for any lossless formats you seek or go ask Zaralyth kindly for a FLAC link as they are kindly sharing their copy around here (And with the activity during this post, it will not be hard to spot the relevant topic for yourself!).

I would however like to reiterate that the original in-game music files & higher quality "in-game edits" for Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike are still planned to arrive when ready, but due to me taking the few opportunities my fickle CD drive provides to rip some select music unavailable from digital lossless providers as well as eager to jump at the chance to extract the audio data of Call of Duty: Black Ops III as soon as it releases, I'm sure it is understandable if they don't arrive promptly.

COLLECTION UPDATE

The in-game music files for Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike have arrived, along with Official Soundtrack in-game edits from Halo: Spartan Assault, which whilst don't cover every in-game music file, will provide much higher quality alternatives to those it does (Especially as Halo: Spartan Assault's music was highly compressed to a notably sub-par quality, which Halo: Spartan Strike thankfully did not receive), as well as provide some additional means of extending, looping or editing tracks I discovered.

I am looking into giving Halo: Spartan Strike the same treatment, but it appears as if there are not many music pieces from the in-game files & official soundtrack that are identical. Thankfully, the OGGs are in an enjoyable quality.

And in regards to the links removal I've recently been both doing & considering, I was enlightened to not only some CD ripping information, but some info shooting down my initial enthusiasm for Qobuz:

One would still require the original "rip", because the log you are providing has been created while you were ripping the CD, and it states how that ripping process has went.

Also, don't entirely trust Qobuz as a lossless-store, some of the albums they're selling on there are actually lossy-files transcoded into lossless, even in worse quality than the original lossy encode sold on the likes of, say, iTunes.

With this information having arrived, I have now returned the MP3 320 & FLAC links to Halo 2: Anniversary & Halo 4 Original Soundtrack and will be maintaining the WAV links, and also will perform and share a rip of my copy of Halo 5: Guardians Original Soundtrack (A reason to open the thing at last). Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Naturally, Halo 4 Original Soundtrack Volume 2 won't be joining as it has no CD release and due to The Remixes were only released on disc through the Special Limited Edition Boxset (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Halo-Limited-Boxset-Neil-Davidge/dp/B00A2XEQFA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1447774474&sr=8-1&keywords=Halo+4+limited+edition+box+set) and already having spent enough money on music I've already bought, don't expect it anytime soon. On the bright side, they are available digitally, as well as in lossless via Qobuz (Even regarding the rather troubling quote I provided) with a 24bit option for the OST Vol. 2 album.

As for the mentioned Adjutant 4.1.0.1 rip, I've been looking into new developments to see if a music rip by myself or another can be done more reliably, as well as busied myself with more CD rips.

That is all for now. Until the next time.

I don't provide covers for Game-rips. I typically just hand them out as is, and leave the rearranging & "albumisation" of them to someone else. Maybe when I finally get around to those OST in-game edits (There probably won't be many at all), that'll include one.

SUPERB THREAD

Is there any chance to see Halo 5: Guardians coming by as well as Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn?

Anyway from all you posted I wanted to up the thread so more people can enjoy it. Many thanks!

In fact, I have ripped my CD copy of Halo 5: Guardians, but being brief yet frank, home life turned into turmoil over the last several weeks with rearrangements within the home among them leading to limited computer access, so I've barely been able to enjoy a good video game, let-alone write up the full credits for the CD rip (I own the 3430008 copy, presumably the UK/EU release, and staff credits appear to differ from that on VGMDB's 34300005 info).

An expected query to that is "Why make such a bother about the staff credits?", to which I would respond with "Because if I'm going to share something that can be readily & easily purchased, I might as well either do a better job than them or at least fill in for what they left missing. And I'd reckon it's only fair that the folks who did the hard work for the music have their names made available alongside the composer(s)/artist(s), copyright holder(s). Plus since I have a history & a future desire in creating video content using game assets among knowing & providing audio assets to those with similar desires, it's handy info to have.".

And I'll answer your Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn query in unison to the following quote.

I second this. The movie Halo soundtracks too :)

If there are CD releases or unsold music out there (Game-rips a particular example), I'm interested in them. If there are not, then I am not.

And since such releases for the Halo franchise as Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn & Halo: The Fall of Reach Animated Series have no music CD releases, I will not be sharing them, particularly as the former has a lossless release on Qobuz.

As far as I'm informed, Xbox One remains out of reach (I am hearing perhaps the PlayStation 4's having luck, but that was just an off-the-tongue comment from a friend, so don't take my word for it). Most people have been improvising via Halo Online to get Halo 2: Anniversary Weapon Audio & Model assets there, but that's really about it.

Otherwise, I don't know of any means to get access to Halo: Anniversary's audio (Apart from a few weapon audio files left in Halo 4's data), especially as Adjutant, the tool I know & use for extracting audio data from Xbox & Xbox 360 Halo titles, doesn't support it along with Halo 2. I'm not optimistic that will change, at least anytime soon as the toolmaker(s) generally find audio a big headache to get to grips with and of course have education to prioritise.

Funnily enough, I thought the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Soundtrack release had a thorough offering of the remastered music (And as someone whom generally prefers the original, both the game files from the PC release & Bungie's still available outtakes cover the demand to have the full collection very nicely!)

thx so much, the collection is near to be complete ?

Well, it's never going to be complete until the Halo franchise stops releasing it's music via CD. It's what the topic is geared toward in the end (The in-game files are merely a "bonus", as they're basically on a what-I-can-get-or-find basis and provided as found in the game files or the source provided 'em).

That said, I'm feeling like I have more time & good health to return to getting Halo 5: Guardians soundtrack up here too (I've got the 34300008/UK release, so I have to make sure I account for any unique credit information). Unless the Polish Collector's Edition of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood arrives at my doorstep early, because there is a criminally limited-release soundtrack CD within waiting to be ripped (Plus the PC's OGG music files will make as complete a collection of that game's music as can be).

Looking back on my desire to take a crack at the Halo: Spartan Strike's In-Game Music: Official Soundtrack Edits, it probably won't be a very substantial offering, especially as the in-game files themselves definitely weren't subpar for lossy formats & the soundtrack itself mostly mirrors the in-game files if not provide totally unique mixes/tracks of it's own. But maybe when I somehow find time for that, I'll take a peak.

Halo 4 Vol. 2? Exist that?

And Halo de Fall of Reach animated movie?

On account of hearing regions couldn't access the relevant store, I made a topic specific to Halo 4 Original Soundtrack Volume 2: Thread 205825

I've not been informed on regions unprovided for Halo: The Fall of Reach animated, so I've done nothing about it. I do believe somebody made a topic with their own share for it though.

In the meantime, I'm keeping my eyes open for Gears of War 4: The Soundtrack CD release (November 22nd according to Amazon US), investigating in-game music for Halo Wars and pondering looking for some Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotoku (Like a Dragon) CDs (Pretty rare stuff, and rarely sold outside of Japan, a shame considering they make some awesome fighting music!) & maybe the Halo 4 Limited Edition Soundtrack too. I'm sure there's somebody whose keen to have those remixes of Halo 4's soundtrack in CD quality (Even if I'm mostly not, despite a bit of a soft spot for Koan Sound's 'Green & Blue' remix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS_3GEdXvPQ))

Shouldn't advertising commercial sites be banned on file SHARING sites!?

Those are just official source details. I provide 'em each & every time I rip a CD.

Examples; "This Limited Edition CD only contains a majority of the Official Soundtrack and a portion of the Additional Soundtrack. The full Official Soundtrack remains available from such distributors as Steam DLC, iTunes & Amazon MP3 (Tidal providing a one time downloadable purchase in MP3 320 & FLAC), along with the full Additional Soundtrack (Available from Gareth Coker's Bandcamp for a minimum of Free). Please consider supporting the official releases." for Ori and the Blind Forest (Limited Edition CD Rip [WAV, FLAC & MP3 320] & Game Files) (Thread 211573)
or
"This release only contains the contents of the Original Game Soundtrack 4-Disc CD Release. Post-launch soundtrack for Guild Wars 2 can be downloaded in WAV via the ArenaNet SoundCloud" for Guild Wars 2: Original Game Soundtrack (CD Rip) [WAV, FLAC, M4A & MP3 320] (Thread 190907).

There are simply plenty of reasons to do it, whereas I have yet to think of a single reason not to do it if not be given one.

I've certainly have had no complaints thus far nor found any rules stating such details were prohibited. After all, I fail to see how it's an endorsement nor promotion to the distributors if I'm providing an option most would likely consider better than all of the distributors I most commonly end up listing as official sources, at my own expense to boot.

You might be confusing that with people who will provide a post and link to the storefront instead of sharing a personal link, in the section of the forum specifically dedicated to download links (Something I have encountered at least once here).

No changes have been made to my chosen tool Adjutant in a long time. I did pick up on a possible method involving QuickBMS (See Extreme110's post; Nov 1, 2015 01:39 AM, Msg. 698 of 810 lower down the linked page: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590&start=666) to extracting what Adjutant can't extract properly if at all, but I have had no time on my hands to follow up on it and test it for myself.

Meanwhile, I'm awaiting the chance to fetch me a copy of the Halo 4: Limited Edition Boxset soundtrack alongside the Gears of War 4: The Soundtrack CD release hopefully releasing on 17th February as scheduled after two delays (Maybe Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon's recent CD release as well). I've taken the chance to have a look, and unless I'm mistaken and he used other methods for a full & clean extract, I'm getting the feeling he used Adjutant same as I, but did some manual clean-up for tracks that didn't extract cleanly like 'glue/f_nohi' (Better known as "Belly of the Beast" as heard in the Long Night of Solace suite from Halo: Reach). I've attempted an inquiry nonetheless to see if they can provide any information. Otherwise, the previously mentioned XMA Transform method seems like something I should chase up sometime soon!

Halo Wars 2? :)

If it has a CD release (Which it does in the US, but my region has to wait until Feb 24th alongside Canada & presumably other international Amazon stores). However, I am curious as to how many regions can't make any purchases from the Qobuz store, especially after the number of Canadian visitors I've had reporting they can't make any purchases from the digital retailers I refer to. That's something I'll have to investigate. Otherwise, I'm sure there are other users here who will likely find a digital lossless copy and share it here (Bart Oss & lorddsp are names I've seen often doing so in recent months).

However, my Halo 4: Limited Edition soundtrack arrived recently, so I'll see about getting around to ripping those remixes that get no real fuss made over them (Including from myself).

https://soundcloud.com/343i/sets/halo-wars-2-official

Not really impressed with this soundtrack.

I can't say that I am either so far. Although it's really delightful to hear Stephen Rippy's Halo Wars theme as played in "Recommissioned", the soundtrack available for preview just lacks variety, or even range as I glossed through those preview tracks. All I hear throughout is just orchestra, orchestra, orchestra, and not much going on with them, which almost seems similar as to what weakens Halo 5: Guardians' soundtrack as a whole for me too (Lucas Raycevick can likely explain on my behalf: https://youtu.be/bb-Igsmk9-I?t=22m6s). I hope the Audio directors at 343 Industries haven't gotten themselves into a "Halo is all about orchestra" phase, because I adore Halo's soundtracks even more when they start pulling out pianos, guitars, bass, drums, synthesizers & the like front 'n' centre along with the strings, choirs & monks that make me adore Martin O'Donnell, Michael Salvatori, C Paul Johnson & Stan LePard's work for the Bungie titles, Neil Davidge for Halo 4 and Tom Salta for Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike, as well as appreciate Stephen Rippy & Kevin McMullan's work for Halo Wars all the more.

EDIT: After hearing the second disc, I definitely have warmed up to the soundtrack much more, especially thanks to a lot more use of moody pianos & electronics. Must've been a case of them bundling all of the event & cinematics themes on the previewed Disc One & then putting all of the background gameplay music on Disc Two.

I am forevermore thankful for the musical Halo content you have provided. I do have one question though. I can understand not being able to get it from Halo 2 Anniversary, but I do remember a small song from Halo 4's multiplayer, in particular is Flood. There is a theme that plays when there's one Spartan left when you're playing as the Flood. That is the one song I am unable to find. This is the same theme that plays in Halo 2: Anniversary's Multiplayer when a player is close to victory. If it's possible, do you know where that particular song is or if it's been ripped? Again, I am forevermore thankful for the musical Halo Content you have provided.

I do remember a small song from Halo 4's multiplayer, in particular is Flood.

It remains possible to extract audio from Halo 4, but the toolset available to me, Adjutant, cannot perform this fully nor has it been updated to do so & likely will not be. There probably are other ways, but they're beyond my capabilities & research if they exist. Plus, I've never provided any in-game music for Halo 4 here as if I recall correctly, I wasn't getting the full collection or I was awaiting the unlikely event Adjutant would be updated with better support for Halo 4 in particular. But the multiplayer music was highly accessible, so it's probably worth me taking another peak.

Here's what I believe is the whole lot. "play_mus_pvp_start [22]" should be the one you're after if I'm assuming correctly (I don't believe these are genuine WAV files, so you'll need to use VLC Media Player or Audacity to play/re-render them): http://www.mediafire.com/file/17jgh470q3349it/H4_MP_Music_Ques.zip
Apologies it took so long. My time was limited, and my previous attempts had MediaFire telling me a virus was within despite being only WAV files. There are no reports this time, but please scan the zip file before opening just for your own assurance.

Halo 4 game rip not released yet???

This fellow has an extraction of Halo 4's music, which should contain all that is available for the Campaign & Spartan Ops Episodes 1-5 (6-10 remain touchable to my knowledge): Thread 134343

The file I am looking for has it. Thank you very much!

One thing I will add, I never seen LWAV files for Halo 2 and importing it to Audacity comes out as a static noise; Any ideas on how to correct this? It's not you ripping the song, it's just my lack of knowledge on this field.

ToWAV.exe is what you need (My reupload has it included, but here's a link for towav.exe to save you a substantial download: https://hcs64.com/mboard/forum.php?showthread=24365). Although the included "Convall.bat" which you just double-click and watch the magic happen is the ideal method (Particularly if you're dealing with hundreds or thousands of XMA, LWAV or the like such as with an SFX collection), simply dragging your desired amount or the entirety of the LWAV files over ToWAV.exe will convert them into WAV files without any further input.

Failing that, I already have the converted WAVs for download in the original post.

Halo: Reach In-Game Music (Adjutant v4.0.0.0), 'vgastrngspt2' There's no 'in' here.

"NOTE: There are a known minute amount of ques that can't be extracted with this version of the tool. However, due to audio extraction issues in the newer version, this release is being provided to account for any undiscovered errors in the newer release (To be provided at a later date)".

You probably discovered one of the missing ones. I've got personal favourites such as 'glue > f_nohi' without it's loops. Problem I've had is future versions of Adjutant is whilst they've been updated to attempt to extract files they previously could not, these additional extractions most often are faulty, with such examples as the loops for 'glue > f_nohi' being incomplete in length or "sniper_rifle_fire" extracting 4 files, but acting as a poorly segmented 3 parter.

I've previously looked into other methods of extraction, but have had no opportunity to chase them up. I have previously made mention of this method (Thread 193811), and with the game's .MAP files available at http://haloce3.com/xmf/, my archive of my preferred version for audio extraction of Adjutant here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/aq7n39zr4bicwuw/Adjutant_4.0.0.0_%28with_Plugins_%26_Helpers%29.zi p, and the latest version available here: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590, there are plenty of opportunities to make your own attempts before I may be able to.

Otherwise, a full length of 'vgastrngspt2' may possibly be heard as 'trlr_strings_no_rhythm_short' in the Halo: Reach Public Beta files, of which I've not provided here, but have done so for the full audio data here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/bizarchivistsoundproject/discussions/2/152391995421803962/

Halo 4 Game Lip not released yet???

I recently ripped Halo 4 in its native WEM (Audiokinetic) file format which plays with VGMStream plugin for Winamp or Foobar
You can convert to wav or whatever. The game has a few WMA 9 Pro songs but currently have issues in VGMStream but the 400+ WEM vorbis music work and loop fine if you tell Foobar to endlessly loop

http://x360.joshw.info/h/Halo%204%20(2012-11-06)(343)(Microsoft).7z ~ 422MB

There is over 11.5 hrs of music :-)

Hello guys,

Here is what I'm looking for, being a huge fan of Halo, and I believe you could help me:

> Halo Spartan Assault, properly tagged in FLAC (official OST)
> Halo 2 Volume II Decomposed soundtrack in FLAC (as "Delta Halo Suite - Penance" for example). I have a decompsoed soundtrack I did myself but it's very old and in MP3 128).
> Halo 3 Decomposed soundtrack in FLAC (as "Cold Logic" as track for example instead of "CROW'S NEST: 1. Last of the Brave / 2. Cold Logic / 3. Cool Temperament")
> Halo 3 ODST Decomposed soundtrack in FLAC (as "Overture- Time to dance" for example). I have a decompsoed soundtrack I did myself but it's old and in MP3 320).
> Halo Reach OST Decomposed soundtrack in FLAC (as "Winter Contingency - The Battle begins" rather than Winter Contingency that includes 8 different "tracks"). I have a decomposed soundtrack I did myself but it's old and in MP3 (200-300)

The decomposed soundtracks are so much better so I hope you can help. If you don't have these versions there could be a last work to provide from the FLAC versions in order to end the Halo Soundtracks topic with the best possible audio experience. I can provide you the tracklists of each decomposed soundtrack + give you the precise timings. I can also provide my decomposed versions in MP3 that I did myself by the past. I would do it myself if I could but I don't have much talent on that and on how to keep the lossless quality doing these "splits".

Many thanks!

Many thanks,
Dimitri

Well, that's what purpose the Game-Rips should serve. Why split-up the official soundtracks when you have the native splits themselves (Well, mostly when it comes to anything past Halo 2 due to Adjutant's incomplete audio file support). Otherwise, I am tempted to provide my own metadata rich share of Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike's official soundtracks after folks provided VGMDB with more richer information on the performers & orchestra that's omitted from any release I've come across from Amazon to Qobuz (Although that defeats the distinction of a collection consisting of CD Lossless & Game File extractions).

There are differences between game rips and official soundtracks. The purpose is just to propose the official soundtrack in a better way and not to redo the work totally. Doing this it's coherent with the official soundtracks. Also in the game rips you can't have the musics from the cinematics of the game, you can't extract some audio cues and it's not always properly tagged. The game rips do not allow you to delete the official soundtracks if you want to have a complete audio experience of the game (cause some cues are missing) so then you have two times many of the tracks. I prefer to keep the official soundtrack.

The best thing for me is : Having the official soundtrack of the game in the most listenable way (decomposed) + getting the only tracks that are not in the official sountrack (if needed). Then you never have duplicated tracks.

So for me it's quite interesting to have the split-up versions of the original soundtrack to keep it the same way but just more listenable (notably Halo 3 or Halo 3 ODST). Listenning Halo 3 ODST soundtrack in the decomposed way is for me a totally different experience.

I hope that you could be helpful on this topic as it seems it's nowhere on the web. I already did this work but in MP3 320 at best and MP3 128 at worst.

Originally, I would've simply pointed you to Joshua Fireseed's collection as that's what he did, but I think a majority of his links are down, and any that aren't were strictly MP3: Thread 81114. There is also this fella's collection for Halo 2: Thread 187235. Suffice to say, there isn't a lot of "Unofficial Soundtracks" for Halo up here. Not as far as I can locate nor recall at least.

I actually recommended dipping into the game-rips for your "Full and 'Decomposed' Soundtrack experience" as someone whose dug about the Bungie & Vanguard titles, I can safely say that, at least with my methods & rips I've collected & archived, you cannot get any duplicates with them as they're very well sorted & named in-engine and with favoured extraction methods. Plus with their distinct naming, putting 'em together is as simple as attaching the in/intro, loop, transition (if one), follow-up loop (if one), and out/outro, then giving 'em their Soundtrack names & metadata. Plus, as often found with the later games, you can get a much more complete song from the game-rips than segmenting from the official soundtracks, with "Inbound Imminent" when from the 'ONI Sword Base suite' a chiefly example (It's "bed2" in the Tension folder): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRSy5O0LDAE, and you're not going to get an Instrumental "Blow Me Away" anywhere else.

Of course, popping the official soundtracks into such editors as Audacity, Goldwave, Vegas, etc and giving them a smooth split is an option, but Marty 'n' Mike don't provide much opportunity to make that an effortless task for that sweet soundtrack experience.

Unfortunately, it's something I'll have to leave at your discretion, as I do not have the time to embark upon such an endeavour myself.

No Vinyl versions on my end I'm afraid. Only 24bit quality digital releases I know of are Qobuz's releases (http://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/search?q=Halo&i=boutique&f%5Bgenres_list%5D=Soundtracks#results) for Halo 4's soundtrack, with no digital lossless availability of Halo soundtrack exceeding 16bit.

As for Halo Wars 2, I would have pointed you to this fella (Thread 214969), but unless I'm mistaken his links may be down. I have just ripped my CD copy of Halo Wars 2's soundtrack, but it won't be arriving promptly, particularly as I'm getting the Halo 4 Remixes up & looking into updating the collection as a whole which may include me removing the MP3 offering, which I will provide warning if I decide to do.

COLLECTION UPDATE INBOUND

A mass updated reupload for most, if not all CD releases in the collection is on it's way (Mostly metadata edits/corrections, along with additional wallpapers & larger covers when available and Halo 2, Vol 1 including instrumental edits of "Follow" by Incubus & "Blow Me Away" by Breaking Benjamin from Halo 2's in-game music files as unofficial bonuses). With it, my personal Halo 4 Special Edition Remixes CD & Halo Wars 2 Soundtrack CD rips intend to join them as new additions, and the reason for early information, the MP3 format will be removed with the intent on replacing it with M4A (Apple Lossless). I cannot provide a deadline as to when these links will disappear, but I previously mentioned I would provide warning if I chose to do that, so here it is.

In the case that anyone is curious as to why the format replacement, it's simply to provide a lossless alternative natively compatible with iTunes, plus I'd rather be making use of my MediaFire storage with something not or less available than a format that is to my knowledge available digitally worldwide.

Any chance of getting ahold of a Halo 2 Anniversary gamerip?

As far as I'm informed, not a chance. The Xbox One & PlayStation 4 consoles remain mostly if not totally inaccessible to folk eager to peak into the files of their desired titles (I hear/see tidbits here & there, but nothing concrete), so nobody's getting into the game data unless said desired title goes to PC or shipped onto Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3. I don't even know of any "noiseless" techniques useful in getting recording-friendly areas for music not featured in the official soundtrack (Which thankfully is a small number, but no number too small for folk hungry for music).

so because the size, i guess that is lossless ?

It's a collection of all of the SFX & music unique to Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary along with the classic music used by the game in WAV format (Converted from FSB), so that's the reason for it's size. I can't confirm the native quality for myself, especially as a lot of seventh-gen games released on console heavily compressed their audio (The amount of Unreal Engine 3 games that went to console with heavily compressed VO was numerous particularly in the later years, with even Halo 4 almost universally compressing it's audio to unmissable quality degradation), but the listening experience of this particular data seems very good to me (I guess they were afforded some lee-way despite the additional graphics engine providing the simultaneously running visual upgrade), and there are even extras I never found in the PC port (If only I were able to confirm if they were present in the original Xbox release) such as "rr1" (Loops & all) which was Johnson's radio rock 'n' roll heard in 343 Guilty Spark, "rr2_nocello" which is basically "The Gun Pointed at the Head of the Universe" with only the guitar performance as well as other unused tracks like "Tron" (As heard via Bungie's Outtakes (http://halo.bungie.net/projects/halo/asset_thumb_viewer.aspx?at=55&cc=25)).

I've got a reupload of the music separated on the way (As I failed to include it here after the original extractor provided it), but uploads are starting to struggle, so it may be a while longer before it & the last replacements arrive.

COLLECTION UPDATE

At long last, the update is complete. Most of the links were replaced, but the list of changes is thankfully short:

- MP3 format for CD releases have been replaced with M4A ALAC (Apple Lossess), to provide a less available format rather than the MP3 that is both lossless & compatible with iTunes.
- The CD releases were re-ripped and/or updated to include more thorough metadata, as well as correcting spotted text errors. In discovering that doing this through dbpoweramp doesn't necessarily guarantee those without it will see the benefits as written if at all, this has been disclaimed. It was discovered far too late to seek another method, but all releases include Full Credits as sourced from their CD Booklets (If not from game credits or other verifiable sources if needed).
- Most if not all of the updated CD releases include accompanying media such as wallpapers, posters & images mostly at 1920x1080, if not above ranging from 2560x1400 to 9600x5400, mostly from official sources.
- Halo 2, Vol. 1 now includes "Incubus" & "Blow Me Away" instrumental mixes by myself replicating the official mixes, with their native game files included.
- Halo 4, Vol. 1 has been replaced with the Halo 4 Original Soundtrack Limited Special Edition, which includes Halo 4, Vol. 1 as well as the Soundtrack Remixes, which still include the "Legacy (Waypoint Edit)" ripped by penner101.
- Halo: Spartan Assault In-Game Music (Official Soundtrack Edits) has been updated with a text document containing full credits for the official soundtrack, an extra updated track edit, and has had FLAC removed as it is intended to compliment the game's very low quality music files has a higher quality alternative for where it can be provided.
- The Halo Wars 2 Original Game Soundtrack has finally been added to the collection.

In regards to some other queries, I provide this due response:

Regarding providing digital only releases such as Halo 4's 24bit releases, the soundtrack for Halo: Spartan Assault & Spartan Strike or Forward Unto Dawn & The Fall of Reach [Animated Film], I have had qualms about going beyond providing CD rips or what was sourced from game files if not replicating them. However, it has come to my attention that France-based Qobuz has a far more limited list of countries it's available in than I believed (Only going as far as the major countries of Europe), with UK-based 7Digital having a farther reach of 85+ countries, but only a small few with 16bit lossless options in their store (As far as I've seen here in England).

I shall see what I can do, but any I do provide will be in a different topic likely titled "Halo: The Digital Lossless Collection" (I've got a topic I can repurpose for it) as this one's getting rather jam-packed!

COLLECTION UPDATE

Hopefully the last notice of changes I'll need to make for the time being, but a mere quick notice of the following:

- The topic dedicated to Halo 4, Vol 2's Spinshop release has been repurposed as Halo: The Digital Lossless Collection [WAV, FLAC, M4A (AL) & MP3 320] (Thread 205825) for any Digital Lossless releases I can provide, which the OP has a link at the top of the page to quickly relocate to.
- Halo: Spartan Assault & Halo: Spartan Strike Music by Tom Salta releases from Qobuz (UK) have been added to that collection.
- Any updates occurring there will be updated there only to avoid front page spam.

Also note that ReclaimedHalo's post there still has a working MEGA link for a 24bit release of Halo 4, Vol. 2 (I believe it's the 24bit 44KHz from Qobuz, if not a source I do not know of). Please enjoy!

I don't even know of any "noiseless" techniques useful in getting recording-friendly areas for music not featured in the official soundtrack (Which thankfully is a small number, but no number too small for folk hungry for music).

Ahhh, that sucks. Maybe one day!

having Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare?

Only Lossless source I can find is Qobuz France, so unless you make a digital purchase from Sumthing Else Music Works (https://www.sumthing.com/p/halo-wars-2-awakening-the-nightmare/) and make a request for the original WAV files like I was able to for their digital-only releases of Borderlands music, then it's out of my reach.

Hi, thank you for all the content. I have the in game music on my phone directly from this thread. One thing I've been looking for for a long time (idk if I've asked in this thread before) is the original quality digital download of the bonus track "Desecration". Aside from being a completionist, I think it's a great song. The version I have is VBR and low quality, especially when compared to the other bonus "To Galaxy Extended" I got from this thread. I actually bought a Vol. 1 CD for the purpose of getting that song, but the code had expired. I was wondering if anyone here has that download in original quality, whether you downloaded it yourself or got it from a trusted source. I had considered making it with the in game stems I have, but that would actually be a step below the version I have.

I'd be ecstatic if someone could share this with me. I've been searching a long time.

I'd be ecstatic if someone could share this with me. I've been searching a long time.

That's something that's evaded me to the point I forgot it even existed. I've still got both the Halo 4 Original Soundtrack CD & Halo 4 Original Soundtrack: Special Limited Edition, and have never been granted the opportunity to acquire "Never Forget" (Thankfully, that one's just a shorter-mix of "Never Forget (Midnight Version)") nor "Desecration". I've even still got my 6 Exclusive Tracks code in hand, but the redemption site just redirects to Top Spin Media's site, presumably the ones providing the Halo 4 Soundtrack Spin Shop (http://halo4soundtrack.spinshop.com/).

Thank goodness you brought it to my attention though. I had gotten rid of the Bonus Tracks from my primary storage & taken them down from this topic thinking that the Volume 2 release provided them, but just discovered they were either longer mixes or entirely unique like "To Galaxy (Extended)" (That one sure was misleading). A relief my other backup still held them & I am dreadful at deletion. I'll have to get those back up when I can.

Sadly, all I can find is this VBR (-V0) 285kbps copy that I have the feeling you've already stumbled upon: Thread 181802 (That I think originates here, but the links seem dead: Thread 81114)
As well as this complete collection of the bonus tracks, but "Never Forget" & "Desecration" sound like YouTube rips to my ears (The three others I can confirm are the genuine 320kbps CBR at least): Thread 61683

This may not be much of a contribution on my end, but I was able to record some of the Halo 5 In game music by turning the voices off and the sound effects to zero and went into some matchmaking to record some of the songs. The thing that stops me for the most part is trying to record the Infected song [Longer than at least a minute thirty something seconds] and the Last Man Standing in Infection. I'm also missing some different variations of the Victory and Defeat themes, though with the victory, I can always test out Custom Games to see the result; any variations of the defeat theme, both in regular gameplay and breakout specific is the main challenge.

[Method of getting the songs is just recording it via the built in Xbone game capture with sounds and voices turned off.]

Should I post the recorded songs as it's own thread? I have edited the recorded clip, edited into a FLAC and then converted the FLAC files to a MP3 file.

I'd say feel free to make your own topic on it.

In regards to Halo 5: Guardians, I just simply settled with the "Recording Guide" I prepared for it (Which mostly regards a "Sound Studio" I set up for general audio purposes rather than music specifics): http://steamcommunity.com/groups/bizarchivistsoundproject/discussions/1/152391995421790638/, as I don't believe Halo 5: Forge has the full in-game music ready for 'ripping', despite quite the amount of campaign audio retained within discovered by the Halo Mod-Savvy exploring the Wwise audio data (Something I as a Windows 7 user nor not knowing of any repository for it cannot test).

If you mean Halo 5: Forge, it's a free Windows 10-exclusive.. app is it?... let's go with app that provides the Forge & Custom Games, arguably the best part of Halo 5: Guardians, but nothing further. Halo Mod-Savvy types like Gamecheat13 & Lord Zedd were doing their own modding with it including FOV changers, implementing what AI they could (Mostly to prove Tom French, one of the leads behind the Forge mode, wrong on being unable to support AI in Forge), showcasing content that was prepared for future updates ahead of announcement or otherwise unused, etc. Along the way, they went exploring into the game's audio and often pulled campaign dialogue out from it ranging from Arbiter's scripted dialogue to I-Would-Be-Your-Daddy chatter between Osiris (At least the samples make me hope that was their use). I never figured out how unfortunately, plus I doubt it would've held much fruit music-wise. Many I observe are still hoping the Xbox One will be "cracked" like I hear the PS4 managed to be recently so people can start looking into asset extraction or anything more ambitious.

But if you mean ArcaneCadia73's work, they just put it up here: Thread 221250
Keep in mind, looking at the Spectrogram in Audacity (And I'm really hoping I'm not incorrect on this), I think the FLAC format is irrelevant as the music sits between 18k-20k at best, indicating pretty lossy audio (Which I'd expect from XboxDVR recordings, especially if retrieved from downloadable MP4s like I assume they did), where as anything comfortably above 22k would be likely, if not definitely lossless. But that's assuming me merely looking at the Spectrogram is enough to verify that. Then again, being a game using Wwise, I doubt the native audio quality is very high to begin with (Even Destiny 2's Wwise extractions usually amount to variable bit-rate OGGs).

The bonus downloadable MP3 tracks from the Halo 4 Original Soundtrack (Vol. 1) physical releases "Armour", "To Galaxy (Extended)" & "Foreshadow" are available in their original MP3 320kbps format, alongside the unofficially sourced "Desecration" bonus track in MP3 VBR, have been made available as a separate download link under Halo 4 Original Soundtrack: Special Limited Edition {7HZCD12001}.

Additionally, 24bit digital lossless options have been made available in The Digital Lossless Collection (Thread 205825) companion topic.

Halo 2 for Xbox isn't something I've had any luck with (Luckily others have and then shared their findings), but I did end up getting lucky for Halo 2 PC. A most recent tool called Refinery (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=50247) (Which I used as part of the Mo's Editing Kit Essentials (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=50573) or MEK (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=50573) as the standalone variant requires Python) can extract most of the audio data Halo 2 PC has (21,856 files to be exact with Multiplayer VO a known absence), along with probably every single thing Halo: CE PC has including mods as new as SPV3 (My full extractions of TSC:E & SPV3 along with what could be extracted from Halo 2 PC can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/bizarchivistsoundproject/discussions/2/152391995421803962/). Or as the tool author put it:

Refinery supports extracting all sounds from ALL Halo 1 related titles, and also supports extracting most sounds from Halo 2 Vista (Xbox is NOT supported). You'll need to switch it from tag extraction mode to data extraction mode. - http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590&start=822

Btw for anyone downloading the bonus track zip for Halo 4 the two copies of each of the bonus tracks under the original, unofficially sourced, cd release directories are of the same quality. I compared with a spectrum analyzer, only difference appears to be the tagging and whatever minor impossible to hear differences between encoders, so you could remove one set.

Right you are indeed! I packed them as such just for purism's sake since the official links are, by my understanding all long-gone and if my more detailed tag/metadata edits proved unsatisfactory or less, you'd have the Original Files to work with.

I redid my Halo 2 rip, completed sorting and editing CE streams and also took Halo 3 for a spin.

Unfortunately, there's a couple of music cues missing in the Halo 3 rip posted in the OP, not much I could do other than use an existing track from the soundtrack to keep as a placeholder.

The latest version of Adjutant (v4.2.0.0P) may possibly find what's missing: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590
Otherwise, the aforementioned link could provide more information: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=45590&start=698

I've not tried it myself as although versions after v4.0.0.0 (The one I used & would still initially use) did increase their extraction success rates, I often found much of the newer extractions did so with errors (Ex. Reach's Sniper Rifle firing effects are extracted all mixed up with one of four missing, 'glue f_nohi' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KZ2at5fawE) has some slight errors that may be on the extraction process's part, etc), and much of the older successes has newfound errors (Although I think builds after v4.1.0.0 successfully resolved this) and I've never found the time for a repeat extraction with the newest version of Adjutant nor locate & verify any other suited-for-the-job tools to account for anything missing or in error.

If you or anyone else wants to take a crack at it rather than wait on me, here's my archive of Adjutant v4.0.0.0 (I have older versions, but this is perhaps the most ideal one for an initial extraction, followed up by others with the newest version): http://www.mediafire.com/file/aq7n39zr4bicwuw/Adjutant_4.0.0.0_%2528with_Plugins_%2526_Helpers%2 529.zip, aswell as the .MAP file collection for most of the Halo games: https://haloce3.com/xmf/

Note that Adjutant cannot extract sound from Halo: CE, Halo: CE-A nor Halo 2, with Halo 4 being particularly limited (But Wwise techniques should serve an alternative as it did for S-B217's extraction Reclaimer's got up (Thread 134343)) and you'll need all of the 'Shared' .MAP files to extract anything from your chosen level/map specific .MAP file as they typically draw much of their assets (Including audio) from the Shared ones.

To my knowledge, that's the best you're going to get from any in-game data from Halo 4. The tools I've worked with can't even get at the music at large, and even if I knew of & understood the use of others (Hence why I refer to that link), the Xbox 360 version of the game saw heavy compression in just about every respect (Audio especially), so I don't believe those results are the fault of the extractor.

Should people figure out how to get in-game data from Xbox One games such as The Master Chief Collection or in the more unlikely event it or Halo 4 specifically finds it's way to PC (And doesn't get locked behind UWP), I'm not optimistic for any improvement in this area either, but either events have even yet to occur for us to have a chance to find out.

The unlikely has arrived. The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC, with Halo: Reach first and the rest to follow. I don't know what UWP is, but hopefully this will serve to provide missing cues from Halo 3, ODST, and Reach, as well as a higher quality rip for Halo 4. Also, unreleased Halo 2 Anniversary tracks. ;)

Much has happened as of late. Sumthing Else Music Works (The Record Label that published & distributed most of Halo's music & numerous other video-game franchises such as Gears of War, Borderlands, etc) went defunct at the beginning of the year, seeing digital availability of much of their music dialogue being pulled from most retailers I've checked (Some may remain such as 7digital's availabilty of Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare in FLAC, but Qobuz completely cleaned their shop, Amazon isn't pulling anything up nor can I recall relocating iTunes listings) without knowing if such companies as Microsoft, Gearbox Software, etc. can/will restore their availability if they have yet, meanwhile we can assume all physical media from them can be deemed Out of Print.

And of course, not only is Halo: The Master Chief Collection getting a PC port, but is also going to be made available via Steam and that Halo: Reach is going to join it on both platforms (With such things as the removal of it's bloody-awful motion blur already confirmed information), with it being the first to arrive on PC via a staggered release of the Collection's games. Naturally, this has left me wondering what can be done with the game from cross-platform File Share & community content support (A Microsoft Account is a listed requirement on Steam as it likely is to be for the Windows Store), porting older mods onto the newer releases (Anything from decade-plus old Halo: Custom Edition maps to 'Halo: Reach Evolved'), and naturally how quickly we'll be able to access & extract it's contents. None of these are in my area of expertise in the slightest (I can't even be certain if the present version of Adjutant will even be compatible let-alone fully functional with these newer releases, and I ponder if Halo 2: Anniversary swapped to Wwise [.BNK, .PCK, etc] rather than maintain FMOD [.FSB] that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary utilised), but it's something I'm keeping very open eyes on.

In the meantime, I'm currently struggling to contently replace my external storage & backups as well as seeing about gathering what lossless digital-only releases I can (Or verifying which ones can no longer be purchased), so it's safe to say there's plenty to preoccupy me in the meantime. Oh, and UWP is Universal Windows Platform (Specific to Windows 10), which I once believed to be particularly encrypted to the point even configs weren't open to being user-edited, but I was recently informed that's largely out-dated information if it ever was correct (Then again, I was mostly picking up word on this from model porting threads on Facepunch a couple of years back).

So Halo 3 isn't 100% complete yet, is it?

danielnrg
03-16-2019, 07:47 AM
Is it possible that Halo 3 - Halo 4 will simply use wav or flac files for the music? I know that with games that have a large amount of music this isn't possible, but every Call of Duty release since 2013's Ghosts has had flac files for the music in the game's files. These releases easily reach 3 hours of music files, all in lossless formats. Also, I've been meaning to ask how adjutant even works. How are you able to extract music files from a console only exclusive? With most PC games its simply a matter of mining the files for the music, but this can't be done with a console game. Is adjutant able to read xbox disc files and display them on a pc?

Also, I don't know if you checked recently but Halo soundtracks are still purchasable on iTunes. They're also still available through Tidal lossless.
