Me too. I will create a Data East Support Thread sometime in the future. Some songs in TEAM Entertainment's Data East Collections don't sound as good as the ones from Pony Canyon and Scitron Label.

I am glad that you are doing this thread. It gets people to HONOR and RESPECT unknown and obscure game developers unlike some people here on the Net who want to bash them, just because they make terrible games.

I'm not alone on that. Manabu Namiki respects even some obscure shoot 'em up developers, while Treasure loves Data East's Edward Randy, Irem's Image Fight, and even Fill-in-Cafe's Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force.

Awesome- Data East's Edward Randy is my all time favorite along with Full Metal Force. I especially like how they used the score as Edward's POWER gauge in the arcade game as well as for its boss life.

But here is the thing- Manabu Namiki once worked over at an unknown company, and that company was NMK. Why did he leave NMK in 1995-1996 as well as Kazunori Hideya (HIDE-KAZ)? If they both stayed, they could've made more games on Jaleco's MEGA SYSTEM 32 hardware, or made more games on SNK's NEO-GEO.

Edward Randy was also influential for some parts of Gunstar Heroes (like having a general as the antagonist fighting on a plane), as well as Guardian Heroes (containing characters known as Edward and his pet, Randy.). Image Fight is the parent of Radiant Silvergun and probably Ikaruga. Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force was also influential for the creation of Guardian Heroes along with Capcom's Alien VS. Predator arcade. Mad Stalker is pretty much Street Fighter II in beat 'em up form on a single plane field like Irem's Spartan X arcade. For the PS1 version of Mad Stalker, it's probably a remake, as well as the prototype for Panzer Bandit. Even though Panzer Bandit resembles Guardian Heroes, Masatoshi Imaizumi and Masaki Ukyo worked on Mad Stalker on Japanese computers (Sharp X68000 and Fujitsu FM Towns) before moving on to developing Guardian Heroes (Masaki Ukyo) and Panzer Bandit (Masatoshi Imaizumi). Panzer Bandit was also used as the base of Phantom Breaker BattleGrounds. Masatoshi Imaizumi also created from the original to Limited versions of Asuka 120% BURNING Fest., as well as the main Phantom Breaker titles.

As for Manabu Namiki, he and Kazunori Hideya left NMK most likely because of NMK's multiple failures on catching enough attention to gamers to see their creations. Therefore, they left video game development business and focused on mechanical crane games and other similar coin-operated novelty prize machines. Much like Tatsumi Electronics. On an episode of Game Center CX, Shinya Arino kept seeing NMK's novelty prize machines a couple of times. Speaking of NMK, I'm thinking about creating an NMK Support Thread. I have some good rips of some NMK titles, as well as SuperSweep's albums.

I see. I wish NMK didn't fail as well as all of the other unknown companies. I never really cared or respected the famous companies in the Japanese video game industry, like Capcom, mainly since their games and their popularity and with them snatching the talented employees from the smaller companies, is what drove the unknown companies into going out of business.

Indeed. But some popular developers have some hidden gems, too. I might start creating "Obscure *insert developer* Support Threads", but I'm not sure.

Jumping in the bandwagon doesn't seem to feel right. Some franchises like Pokemon are overwhelming thanks to limited edition download events, a massive selection of creatures, and a long-running anime that's still airing worldwide. You'll also bump into trolls and bullies, as well as experts that refuse to appreciate some lesser-known, but good games.

I not only preserve video game soundtracks, but I also helped gameads.gamepressure.com in preserving some TVCMs, created and expanded articles on Wikipedia, etc. etc.

There also needs to be something like these:

I most definitely agree with you- there are some unknown gems made by the famous companies. Take Powered Gear for example- that is made by Capcom, but it is relatively unknown. I also agree with that statement- I do not like jumping in the bandwagon by any means. To be quite honest, I wish that T&E SOFT published Pokemon, while Game Freak still developed the game. After all, didn't T&E SOFT were once partners with Game Freak?

By the way- I love IREM's music and sound driver on the games they did on the SNES. I wish someone ripped the instruments off of ALL of IREM's games on the SNES and made custom soundtracks with them, as well as Ken Kojima's instrument set from T&E Soft's game for the SNES, "CU-ON-PA". But unfortunately, they use the Megaman X sound driver and instruments.

Golden Axe: The Duel is another example of a hidden gem, but made by SEGA. Hmmm. I see you want to balance each companies' successes. That's interesting to know about Ken Kojima.

Anyway, here are some upcoming support threads:

Tecno Soft
Hertz
Family Soft

There are many others, but they don't last forever.
