Well the 10 year part is stated in the game but i think that after Yunalesca Sin only appeared again some years after not in the ten year period.
The ultimania also state that Yuna was in training to be a Summoner for 2 years prior to the game (which is why Lulu and Wakka went off to be guardians so they had some experiance prior to being Yuna’s guardian).
Chappu was also killed the previous year, by Sin.
Taking note of all these facts only leads to one conclusion, Sin has been around for quite a while before the game, so the idea of a ten year calm is nonsense.
Also, the ultimania give a rough estimate that the calms last only a year, give or take a few months…
10 years is indeed stated in the game, but its in no way in the appropriate context to assume that there was no Sin for the last decade. i.e. Yuna saying her dad defeated Sin 10 years ago to bring the Calm is not the same as Yuna saying her dad defeated Sin 10 years ago and have lived in a Calm ever since.
Also, I would like to know Jimmy! how you managed to deduce that Sin appeared after a ten year period after being beaten by Yunalesca?
