You know how the fat chocobo says something to the effect of "you should try visiting all of the worlds beaches someday" Well, i went around and pressed O at what appeared to be all the beaches and heard the little chime for each one so i went back and talked to him and nothing happened. I think i missed some but what i want to know is, is there any point to this? Do you get something special or is it just a big waste of time?

Doing this gets you a restorative ability that restores your entire party for free. It’s really very very pointless unless you just want to have everything in the game. Seems you definitely missed a beach somewhere. Check around very carefully, make sure you’re not missing any islands or anything.
Here’s another tip — sometimes a certain stretch is considered more than one beach. If a stretch seems a bit long, then make sure to go all the way along it and check. You’ll know you’ve changed beaches if it’s different in the menu. Just circle around the world very carefully, be very meticulous.
