Amanda
05-15-2011, 01:12 PM
DON"T pay for it. You have no way at all to verify it is real. And Tak here said he was working on it. Recording sessions in lossless is an amazing trick. If he means a complete score, i can see it. But recording sessions are, by there nature, not the same. The term gets bandied about often these day, and I wonder if folks know what to expect from true recording sessions anymore???

Amanda
05-16-2011, 07:46 AM
you do know, these are not recording sessions, yes? The 5 cd avatar, those were recording sessions. These are complete scores that have been leaked, but that is different. You guys may not like the recording sessions, since they would be raw, unmixed score, sometimes not even complete tracks, with alt takes, inserts etc. That is not what this Dark Knight is, and likely not Begins.
Nightmare27
05-17-2011, 12:31 AM
Recording Sessions are great, and if there is to be a complete score release instead, I'll take it.

KaFaraqGatri
05-17-2011, 12:35 AM
Guys - sometimes a film score doesnt necessarily have recording sessions. Either way, you could call the complete score a recording sessions too. Sometimes, also, "recording sessions" can refer to an incomplete score. The Blade recording sessions, for example, are really long and full of alternates but still incomplete.
Amanda
05-17-2011, 03:12 AM
As are the Sessions for Troy. Nowhere near complete. The Battle Beyond The Stars Sessions, and the Conan The Destroyer sessions, while interesting, and encoded in 320, are from a poor source, and sound muddy at best....

I've always wondered the difference between "Recording Sessions" and a "Complete Score". Please correct me if I am wrong, but is this right?
Recording Sessions: Every piece of music recorded for the film, like the 5 CD Avatar you mentioned. Because that included outtake, unreleased and extended tracks.
Complete Score: Everything heard in the film, no alternates or unreleased tracks.
That is my conclusion on the difference between the two.
Amanda
05-17-2011, 07:01 AM
No, not entirely/. Recording sessions are recordings made of the actual, you know, recording of the score. They can be complete but not always. They often include multiple takes of the same tracks, unedited cues, and short bits of music, called inserts. Due to the nature of these recordings, they are often the raw music. Not mixed or balanced or anything.
Complete scores can be recording sessions. But usually are leaked versions of the final score. They can include unedited tracks and alt takes, but most often are mixed and such. The complete score, but not necessarily released....
DAKoftheOTA
05-17-2011, 07:23 AM
Ok, kind of confusing but thanks. So now the 73-track Transformers score, what would you call that? Complete or Recording Sessions? Because (minus the film version of "Optimus") all the music is on it. But it also has some unused tracks, demos, and alternates.....
Amanda
05-17-2011, 07:30 AM
Depends. Are there fx? If so, it's..nothing. A dvd rip. No fx...could be a complete score. Its hard to label these definitively. Expanded material can come from clean rips, unused cues showing up in games, all kinds of things. But, if it has fx, if it is a rip, then that is all it is....
---------- Post added at 11:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:29 PM ----------
Look at it this way, a true "recording session" technically speaking, is a recording created as the musicians are doing the score. Not something created later from finished cues....
DAKoftheOTA
05-17-2011, 07:40 AM
Oh no no no. In no way is this some cheasy rip. It's legit, all there. Are you not aware of it?

Same here. The scores for the Transformers series aren't bad...but I've never felt compelled to own/archive them. It's cool that that stuff is out there, though.
Amanda
05-17-2011, 08:08 AM
Yea. I remember when that got posted. I...am more wary these days of all these "complete" and "expanded" scores. Here, 42 tracks. No, wait....64 tracks...no, wait...
I give up on some of that, you know? And, every time you dl a giant archive, that turns out fake, sigh. So, I kinda hang back on a lot of that stuff these days. Like all the various Transformers 2, Pirates, and tron Legacy stuff. Just...call me when it's all sorted..:D

05-17-2011, 08:25 AM

my few gigabytes of hard disk space only function as a temporary storage for music ... in almost every case it ends up on a MD ... it's the most reliable optical medium I know. And sometimes I use Hi-MDs for lossless recordings ...

I do a LOT of video editing and my wanting a Blu-ray burner has more to do with taking those files and reducing the number of discs.
Also, if you're like me and convert your Television series DVDs to video files, storing an entire season on one or two BD-Rs versus 6 dual-layer DVDs or 12 single-layer DVDs, well, forget it the benefit is obvious. :)

It was locked, because there was nothing left to say. The op does not want to post openly, and i am ignoring any requests posted in the thread. have said so many times. And yet....I accept all pm requests though. But since all that is being posted are various requests, locking the thread is the best way. I downloaded this soundtrack as soon as it popped up and have been listening to it non-stop. Zimmer is a master and Newton Howard has such a great knack for creating beautiful themes. Yeah, that concerns me too. Although in Zimmer I trust. He has never disappointed me in a score yet, except maybe for On Stranger Tides. And I doubt that Christopher Nolan will let a mediocre score be attached to the epic finale in one of the greatest trilogies to ever be on film. Still looking forward to this; July 2012 can't get here soon enough.

you will find that there will be the odd track or two not true to the complete film version. these are the recording sessions (i think) which have not been edited for the movie.

I thought we were talking about the "film mix" this topic is about. The tracks with the best mixing and mastering are at the end. "Storming Prewitt Building" notably, or "Introduce a Little Anarchy" (same doubt on the cue than the fellow above, I don't know it enough).

Tbh I did not notice much In terms of the score compared to the film version and recording sessions. I will have a check at this when I finish work.

Well it's easy to notice: this whole two CD experience goes with rude bass levels (the exact same you'll notice when you're watching the film). But when it comes to the 2nd half of the 2nd CD not only the music becomes more entertaining, but also the "quality" (let's put it that way) too and there's no such need to have the bass down on your equipment, though it still varies from a track to the following.
Aaaah. I would be tempted to give it a shot (fix) one of these days, but that would require first to gather all the infos on what is what and how to use what. Perhaps in a special thread. That gets me wondering if there may be others leaked sources in the previous Takehiro's TDK "complete score. I'm sure JHFan is well advanced regarding those questions too and I'd be tempted to ask him for an audio file of his TDK reconstruction. But I'd understood if he wouldn't help, such efforts need some recognition at a point (marcorea, you're actually the only one who have given an idea of any improvement through feedback for the BB set I posted over more than 800 downloads in a week for now ! Some may still wonder how far it can be worth the deal...).

Ah and I just remembered something to be more precise on what I said: The tracks at the end with the best sound are purely or almost orchestral. there's no electro music in the mix in the best one I heard (edit: I more and more think it's the "Prewitt Building" cue). Perhaps that's what makes things better.

Yeah, your version is an huge improvement. I can hear everything going on in each track. nothing is booming in your ear. and the way you edited tracks into one single track is perfect. No annoying pauses that loses pace listening to it.

Yeah, it happens too often for various reasons, but I assure you these are no "Recording Sessions". Plus I analyzed the score as played in the film note for note (through headphones at that) after acquiring this set and it matches perfectly, with the exception a few minor things like bits being dialed out in post production (the beginning of "Mobsters Taken to Justice" for example) and things like that, that were altered after the pieces were recorded and edited.

Exactly what I said. No need to compare note for note tho. The mixing is just too complex with overlays added all the way. And I'm certainly among you the one that knows the less that score.
But yep, I watched the movie four weeks ago and mostly noticed the exact same lacks, the same volume jumps, and the same mastering most of all.

Btw, the original leak of BB was indeed a 3-discs. But the 3rd disc I posted is not the not so interesting alternate mixes from the leak. These are my own remixes, notably with the ost. I have the feeling nobody cares about that one anyway (and I may understand).

Actually, I do all my mixing and editing on a digital multi-track recorder... the same device I use to record my band. Old school I guess, but I don't do any of it on the computer.

Old school or not, any digital calculations and exportations implie losses. You can have "more" or "less", depending on some basic knowledge about it. ;) But I guess as a musician you certaily know that.

I find the tone here more relaxed and unhostile to various viewpoints. Good site for collectors who want the music. Unfortunately, I've found at FSM any discussion of the items openly on display here, will send one to the Bastille. Weeks ago, some person appeared on that site stating they had informed the powers (record industry) of sites dealing in 'boots.' Oh, my god... I said the forbidden word.

If the powers that be refuse to release my music in a complete form, people will, as you say: 'steals from you?' On the other hand I am not attempting to be a 'pirate.' I just want the music and will go to means (the net) to acquire that music. Time and effort should be spent not on calling people pirates or aiding bootleggers, but on approaching those in possession of the music, informing them there is a market. Now, I've wasted time, which could have been spent on my writings which needs to be done by the end of July or locating more downloads...

When it came to the arguments and criticism FSM's board had of this board, yes the labels are right and entirely justified because their products lose money. There's not even really any debate in that, it's pretty much just plain fact.
However, when they go about posting personal contact information and photos of the people who run this place for any and all to see on a board full of faceless, anonymous people with varying degrees of rationality, that is indeed crossing a huge line and completely unacceptable.
Just felt I had to explain what I meant by them being justified to a degree!

the thing about that joke is that it's not universally known, therefore a line suggesting a contradiction to what is not is very misleading...

It should be noted that the teaser pretty much confirms that James Newton Howard is not involved with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, since Zimmer is the only credited composer.
Prior to this it was the film's official press release which didn't include Howard's name in it, but at the time it was just too early to tell if that would change.

Assuming you have actually downloaded the RAR file...
You need appropriate software to unpack the file before it can be played.
There are many different software packages that can be downloaded from the Internet, depending on what kind of computer you are using. You should be able to find something suitable using a Google search.

Why respond at all? He is obviously looking to cause trouble, just ignore it. Besides, he's gone already anyway. :)

I was browsing Hans Zimmer on ASCAP and I found the cue that's the "New Batman Theme" or as it's referred to on the HZ board "Action Ice Theme". It's called 'RFK 103 BPM ACTION THEME V7' - so I copied and pasted it into Google and this site came up:
77 results for dark knight film cues | PianoFiles (
http://www.pianofiles.com/search/music/sheets/dark+knight+film+cues)
Does anyone know what it is? It says something about cues and sheet music.....

I don't think he's talking about the 3-Disc complete that Babydoll gave us in May, and neither am I. There's a 2-disc fan made rip out there which honestly isn't bad, but still.

And can you tell me how many days until the complete score and or recording sessions are out? No one can. We're still waiting for RotF, DotM, and Pirates 1-3, among MANY others. The Holy Grail? Judgement Day (MY Holy Grail anyway)

I don't, sorry. I always convert to mp3. I did leave flac as a file to share, but it was on megaupload, as was the majority of my stuff, sorry.

It seems if we desire these items, we must resort to sending them along to those who would like them...

Just give us time. I am sure we will get most of it back up. Just have to figure out where to host, I suspect. And, it will take time, there is so much to reload..but all is not loss and doom, just disorganized.

There are so many people on here who all they do is take and not contribute. No thanks, no nothing. I know how you feel. All it takes is "Thank You". That's it. It 's not gonna hurt anyone to say it...

Poor widdle woogums... come here... Phiddy Widdy will kiss and make it awwww better. SMACK! There. Injured pride is always out of place when one GIVES only to expect to receive. Never the less, I will thank you in place of all the ingrates who slipped up. Which of course is the human condition. ;-)

OKKkkkkkkk,you know what ?
I'll stand by my words ,forget what i said, forget i have TDK in flac, just forget about me being so naive....You just look like the clients i see all the day ,no good morning,no thanks or no goodbye, basics things....I wasnt raise that way ,probably too "old style" at 38 or maybe just because i'm french and dont understand it (in all sens of the word) ,anyway i dont care anymore, and just "leeche" like the rest of you.
Sorry for my english.
