Akira Ifukube's Film Music 50th Anniversary Toho Movie Music File (VPCD-81223~4) arrived today, I will make a quick review on here when I'm done listening to the discs.

My review for:


Akira Ifukube's Film Music 50th Anniversary Toho Movie Music File (VPCD-81223~4)

This is an excellent CD set! It is mainly a main title collection, but with some other cues thrown to the mix. It is packaged attractively with a booklet containing a few pictures. Well, on with the music!

Disc 1 starts with the main title to the film "To the End of the Snow-capped Mountain" (1947), then goes through selections from various films up to 1962. My favorite track on this disc is track 6, from "The Good Couple" (1956), it starts with a couple of keys from a piano, then turns into a sad sounding string and flute-like woodwind tune.

The second disc continues with selections from 1963 to 1978. My favorite track on this disc, and in the entire set, is track 20, it starts out as a very whimsical harpsichord-like, woodwind and piano tune, then turns into an amazing tune so good, you have to here it for yourself!

Overall a great set and is worth picking up if you find it. This set gets a four and a half out of fives stars. It gets this rating because the selection for "Godzilla vs. Gigan" not just is taken from the film, it sounds heavily damaged. Besides that, the set gets five stars.

A fishing boat is attacked at sea by a gigantic, hairy monster. I got my MonsterArts Godzilla 1964 last week on Thursday. It is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

S.H. Monsterarts? I was never really interested in those figures. I guess I'm not a big fan of articulation when it comes to collecting my Godzilla figures lol.

When it comes down to collecting Godzilla, I look for model-kits, statues, etc. Speaking of which, I purchased a Max Factory Godzilla 1992 on eBay last week. I can't wait for it to arrive!

When it comes down to collecting Godzilla, I look for model-kits, statues, etc. Speaking of which, I purchased a Max Factory Godzilla 1992 on eBay last week. I can't wait for it to arrive!

Yeah X-Plus is quite expensive. That's why I budget for each one of them....it takes a while to get one, but when I do......it's God-Like \m/
The X-Plus Godzilla 30cm 1964 is like $600+ which is way out of my budget right now. The highest I can afford is around $250. Anything higher right now is....out of sight for now.

My favorite Godzilla design is Godzilla 1989.

Anyone have ALL the J. Peter Robinson cues from the North American cut of Godzilla 2000? There's some floating around, but the versions I've found don't include the initial battle with Orga and some other minor cues. I know they're out there, I just haven't found them in one compilation.

Just to let everyone know, I will try to get the newly released Akira Ifukube: Works for Piano, Volume 3 soon.

Why does this have to do with Godzilla?? Well, one of the pieces on the CD, "Rhythmic Games for Children", contains material that will end up in Ifukube's SFX/Godzilla film scores. That is why I'll try to upload the CD here if I get it.

Two English versions of The War of the Gargantuas exist. Following the film's initial release, Toho commissioned an international version from a Hong Kong studio. This version is a straight dub of the Japanese version with new English titles. Russ Tamblyn is dubbed by another actor, despite having spoken English on the set of the film.

Several other changes were made to the picture, including the removal of Akira Ifukube's "Operation L March". In its place was a stock cue by composer Philip Green called "Terror Hunt". Additionally, several Ifukube tracks from Monster Zero were inserted into the film.

The trailer is spoilers free Brandon, i think it's safe. It doesn't reveal anything of the plot and you don't see a clear view of Godzilla. He's shrouded in dust, debris, clouds, etc, so you can't really see it in detail.

It's only a teaser anyway. It just shows a tone that the movie attempts to be i guess. Probably only on the final trailer is when you'll be exposed to plot details and maybe with clear shots of Godzilla or fighting some kaiju, etc.

Okay everyone. I have a TON of stuff for y'all! At the end of April, I will be releasing my four disc compilation series. The series is called The Best of Akira Ifukube. Then I will be releasing my 12 disc set, called Akira Ifukube Film Music Sampler 1, on May 31. Also being released on May 31 is another compilation I made. That compilation is called Akira Ifukube: Stage Music Collection. Sometime in July, I will be releasing Akira Ifukube Film Music Sampler 2. Finally, I will be releasing a four disc compilation of music from all of the original 28 Godzilla films on November 3.

All of these are self/fan-made! They are NOT official releases! It took a year to get everything ready, and I hope it will all pay off! Anyway, stay tuned!

The Best of Akira Ifukube series is a four volume series that contains some of Mr. Ifukube's best film music cues. Each volume has twenty tracks, and each track is a suite of music. These suites can go well over seven minutes long. I'm about to create the fourth and last volume. This series will be released in late April. Consider it a preview of the Akira Ifukube Film Music Sampler sets.

Akira Ifukube Film Music Sampler 1 is a twelve disc compilation set that spotlights Akira Ifukube's film score career. I'm currenly making the final touches to the set. It will be released on May 31.

Akira Ifukube: Stage Music Collection is a compilation that focuses on the stage scores Ifukube composed. This is finished, and will be released on May 31.

Akira Ifukube Film Music Sampler 2 is a follow up to Akira Ifukube Sampler 1. Most of the music in Akira Ifukube Film Music Sampler 2 is found in the first set. Don't worry, all of the tracks are not found on the first set, and there is music not found in the first set too. Since I'm still working on the third disc, I have no clue how many discs there will be. This set will be released sometime in July.

Godzilla Film Music Collection is a four disc set that contains music from the original twenty-eight Godzilla films. Each disc contains music from seven Godzilla films. I have not started on the set yet. It will be released on November 3.

Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla is by Takayuki Hattori. Disc 1 is the complete score and disc 2 is filled only with alternate versions.
It is an intriguing score. The good parts are really great, with the SpaceGodzilla theme, the love theme on 'Miki & Shinjo', 'Couple on the Beach', the Barry-esque style of Birth Island I & II, the absolutely gorgeous tracks that close the score on 'Requiem' and 'Epilogue', and the vocal version 'Echoes of Love', that reprises one of the two themes from 'Epilogue'.

Unfortunately the rest of the score doesn't hold up. Hattori theme for Godzilla is bland, and his suspense and action themes are forgettable, but as a whole the score is still better than his music composed for Godzilla 2000.

Anyway i hope you can enjoy :)

Hello. You are definitely right, almost everything is gone. I wish I could help out, but most of my music was on a laptop that ended up destroyed. I do have a few things though. My advice, just be patient. Someone who has everything will eventually upload their stuff. Not much of a BIG G fan, BUT, this 2014 Movie really gets me excited!!! xD :D The 1998 one was pretty decent, IMHO. Please take that with a grain of salt, Ok? LOL :P

All that's been released is a 1 minute track. Everything else has to be considered as trailer music for now. Based on 1 track you don't think it will surpass '98's? If it comes even a little close to the original series' scores, it will bury Arnold's.

I listened to Desplat's score for the upcoming Godzilla film today. It was a nice listening experience overall. One downfall for me is that the score sounded a bit generic at times, but this isn't a major downfall. The entire score had me at the edge of my seat, and was really suspenseful. I heard no Ifukube influence at all, except for a small portion of track 19. A bit of that track sounds just like the two-note motif that starts Mr. Ifukube's "Ritmica Ostinata" (1961). Overall, I enjoyed the score, and it was everything I expected.

I know what it is like to have to wait for something. I had been looking for a score since 2010, and it was re-released with a previously unreleased score this year. I got this release back in October (the CD's cover is my avatar). I am still looking for the FLAC copies, but now I think they are in one of my flash drives that has been stored away in a box. I've never seen this 2006 BMG Godzilla: Sound EFX CD. But I believe in order to squeeze 99 tracks on a single CD, they must have had to shorten and leave off many effects to get the running time down to 72 minutes.

I don't know if you have this one, Sound Effect of Godzilla (2 CD) 1995 TOCT-8789-90. I posted a thread, here is the link to the thread, if interested: Thread 234008

It is a two disc set and have over 97 minutes worth of sound effects. Although, there are two cue beeps and an electronic voice introducing each track.
