Is it possible to miss some bills if you don't check the boards regularly? Do the bills posted on the boards stay until you've completed that hunt or it disappears when you ignore them?

Neo Xzhan

Nope you can't.

Bills are unlocked in either two ways:

A new Bill becomes available after defeating a certain (or more) Mark(s).

After major story events.

Thanks! I'm concerned because I just came from Dreadnought Leviathan and I haven't even hunted a single mark.

:) Rest easy --- it's not possible to screw yourself out of Marks / Bills, etc. This was a concern for me once too --- specifically with the "Trickster" Mark. Because Monid said that he was going to go hunt it too and so I thought maybe you could get screwed out of it if you didn't get it to it fast enough. But it just turns out that you end up fighting it with him and there's just no way he can "beat you to it."

I did that too with the Trickster mark. Yea you can just take it as fast/slow as you want. Personally I hate leaving it to the end because I then have to do loads. Besides, doing hunts early is a great way to train and get some decent weapons/armour etc early on.

Word. It's probably best to do the Hunts pretty much as they become available. It is nice to know, though, that the game gives you flexibility as to how to do it.

I am just coming to Giza during rain the first time (not sure if it rains a second time), and Gil Snapper is kicking my ass. Can I do this later, or does the rain go away and I can not?

Neg

The rain will go away, but you will able to control it later in the game. Leave him be and fret not, he'll be there when you're ready for him.

Just remember if you're doing it later on, that the sucker only shows up if you get a really heavy rain, so don't be disturbed if you're having some trouble getting it to show up --- you just have to be patient.

Okay Im supposed to be going through the jungle near the ozmone plains, but instead I decided to do some mark hunting. I have 2 that are supposed to be in the waterway under rabanastre but one way into the waterway says it is tightly shut, while the other leads to a control room which I need a sluice key for. Can I do these 2 now? White Mousse and Orthros are the 2.

Doggoneus
05-19-2007, 12:32 AM
You dont need the sluice gate key, but it is in that room. When in the control room, there's all the different routes out of it. I think it's about the 4th one round from the right but you can get round to the rooms without that key. The map doesn't show it as there are hidden parts you need to go through, just go exploring and you'll find the way.

By the way, proof you dont need the key is that you'll only get the key as a reward from doing one of those hunts.

Just keep exiting and re-entering the area. It may take a while, but I got it to show up the first time I entered.

Also, I'm not sure if Monid will tell you that Trickster's there after you've re-entered, so just run around a bit. If you don't see him, exit then try again.

Ages ago I used to watch someone play final fantasy and there were games like a card game and a racing chukobo game. I'm only in the early stages of playing FFXII level 9 or so, I was wondering if there were any games to play to help me move on. Is slaying wolf's and cacti etc the only way to go up levels. I have killed the tomato guy, the thextura and the flowering cactus. I' m not really sure where to go and what to do next as the message board has no more hunts on it. Is it just a case of running around? Thanks all

Kurisutaru

The next hunt you'll be able to do appears after Barheim Passage, which isn't too far from where you are, I'd think. If you haven't spoken to Old Dalan in Lowtown, do so. The rest is all pretty straightforward.

And no, no card game in XII. There is a racing game in Balfonheim though, which is quite far from where you are in the story.

Also, the only way to level up is to kill things, so go nuts.

Neg

Don't forget the fishing game.

tkaz84
05-21-2007, 02:21 AM
Killing things is the only way to gain experience, so you'll be doing quite a bit of grinding throughout the game. This is also the best way to make money, as most of your income will come from selling the loot monsters drop (which is a better way to go than having all monsters drop gil IMO).

If this sounds boring (and it can be at times), that's what the hunts are for.

Kurisutaru
05-21-2007, 02:28 AM
My advice is to do hunts right as they become available. You'll probably gain a few levels when trying to find them, and you can get some pretty decent items from the hunts' petitioners.

And, actually, I find that leveling isn't at all as tedious as it was in the previous FFs. It's more fun, and you can actually just let the gambits do most of the fighting for you. xD

You can do it after you've reached Balfonheim. You have to steal a pole from the guy fishing there (if you can't figure it out, let me know and I'll fill you in) and then head to South Bank Village in the Estersand.

You'll ultimately get Lu Shang's Badge, which is part of the recipe for the strongest sword in the game--the Wyrm Hero Blade.

Ok, I admit I'm a perfectionist, completionist, whatever you want to call it. Now, I'm trying to get at least 1 of every weapon (apart from the sword of kings, which you lose after the pharos). Only one problem though, I sold my mythril sword (yes, yes, I know I can get one from Omega), but that's not the problem. I also (think I) sold my mythril blade (Basch's starter weapon). Now, according to the guide, I can't get this anywhere. Can anybody verify this? Also, I might be extremely dense but it might be the weapon basch uses in the palace when you play as reks, and that would explain not being able to get it again. Again, could somebody verify this for me?

Neg
05-27-2007, 01:40 AM
You're given the Mythril Blade by Old Dalan, if I'm remembering that correctly, after you return from Barhiem. You have to deliver it to Vossler, and ultimately Basch. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I think that is the only one available :(

Whether or not the one Old Dalan has is the same one that Basch uses in the prologue is up for debate.

Hynad
05-27-2007, 02:00 AM
What about it being the one Reks is using during the prologue?

Neg
05-27-2007, 02:22 AM
He said:

"Also, I might be extremely dense but it might be the weapon basch uses in the palace when you play as reks"

And yeah it could theoretically be the same sword that Basch used in the prologue. He never said Reks used it, and whether or not it is the same sword is irrelevant to getting it back.

Hynad
05-27-2007, 02:37 AM
What I'm saying is that Reks USES the Mythril Blade. Now it's been a long time since I looked this up, but I remember that he uses a Mythril made weapon.

Sheesh Knegative, is it so hard to see this in my last post? What I said is that it might be the same sword REKS IS USING in the Prologue... I'll have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure there are no indication in the Prologue that says Basch is using this sword, while you can easily see what Reks's weapon is by accessing the menu screen.

Neg
05-27-2007, 02:43 AM
No, I couldn't Hynad. I thought it was a straight out question. Also, I'm going to start a new game right now, because I don't think you can access the menu in the prologue.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, no big deal.

EDIT: Haha, never tried it before. You can, but it's a Mythril Sword, not a Mythril Blade.

Hynad
05-27-2007, 04:38 AM
Well, thanks now for looking it up for me. As I said, I wasn't sure. But I remembered it was a Mythril something weapon, as I clearly stated in my last post.

Doggoneus
05-27-2007, 01:05 PM
Thanks for trying to help, Hynad, but it didn't really matter if Reks used a mythril blade as a weapon. I know that basch has it at some point, whether in the prologue or after he joins your party, maybe even both. If it just in the prologue then I can understand why I won't be able to get another one, but I think he has it when he joins your party. I'm just annoyed that it seems that I won't be able to get another mythril blade. I mean, you can even get the mythril sword back (albeit the really difficult way from omega), you'd have thought they put in a way to get the blade back.

As I said above, he doesn't have it when he joins your party as a guest in Nalbina Dungeons, but you do end up delivering it to him once he cleans himself up and changes clothes. So, it definitely is in the main game. I still have mine. Though, they probably should have included some way to get it back, seeing as the Sword of Kings doesn't have a license, if I recall correctly.

It's almost as if they figured that you'd sell weapons as standard practice at the beginning of the game before realizing that there is an "accounting" system for the weapons (i.e., them being highlighted on their respective licenses) and you'd realize in time not to sell anything else. Hence giving you the chance to remedy you initial folly by giving you a very slim crack at the Mythril Sword.

It's like the first time I opened Rikku's overdrive menu. YOU MEAN I REALLY HAVE TO MIX ALL 64

My question, who of you has beaten Yiazmat already, and what gambits/weapons etc did you use? My strategy seems to be going too well, with it actually seeming easy at the mo, I know its gonna get a lot harder but I was expecting worse than this. Just wondering what you guys thought of him.

Another thing, I know you can gain access to Omega XII during the yiazmat hunt. I'll still be able to fight him after I kill yiazmat, right? Otherwise I need to come out of this fight now.

i need some tips on fighting gilgamesh the second time

Whoever your party leader is, equip them with a Bubble belt. Have your Magick user have a Gambit Target Party Leader -> Lure. Careful though, Gilgamesh sometimes does attack all your characters at once. Have someone else equip with the strongest weapon you have + Bravery lay into him with physical attacks. Have your party leader cast Protectga on himself (Gambit) and your Magick user as primary healer.

This should make the battle actually very doable. (If not, a little easy).

terabyte

If you still have espers to defeat, you can steal HA from them. Caution, though: it's typically a rare steal and you have to run in and out of battle before you get one. It took me like two hours to get 4 from the freak in Zert. Caverns.

Otherwise, get the canopic jar, kill stuff to pick up arcanas, and farm whatever other loots you need to bazaar them into high arcanas.

Wind_crest

ahnnn, I don't have any spear to get.
I already have the canopic, but I search everywhere to get the arcanas and no monster seems to drop it :(

I need the tournasol to defeat Yazmat, he's with 4 million HP, and it's the 11 round. Now, he became almost impossible to defeat, he got much stronger then he used to be at the beginning of the battle!!!

terabyte
07-12-2007, 04:37 AM
High Arcana can be bazaar'ed, too. For 1 HA you need

10 Arcana (which ought to be fairly easy to get if you have the Canopic Jar and are willing to run around killing stuff for a while)

1 Feystone: Equip thief's cuffs and steal from the entites. The easiest one is in the Dalmasca Westersand during the sandstorm. Steal, if you don't get a feystone, zone out 1 screen and return (the entite will be neutral again and will have a replenished stash).

1 Soul of Thamasa: Can be stolen from Trophy Monster Ishteen or Monograph Dropped from Oversoul's in Necrohol (rare drop). Consult an FAQ for further guidance.

Okay, I have my own question now. Regarding the...Danjuro. >:\ I swore I wasn't going to go after that damn thing...

I've already looked at this (Thread 40168) thread that linked to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9RlQnbIOYs) youtube video explaining an easy(sort of) way to chain necrophobes that leads to 2 consecutive Larva Eater appearances. My question is: does anybody know where you're supposed to zone?

The vid says to fight the necrophobes, let them divide themselves, and kill off all the "child" 'phobes, leaving only the "parents." This is in the LeoGateSwitch area, right? Okay, which areas do I zone between following that? It seems to suggest that I just zone between LGS and XIV for about 20 minutes until Larva Eater pops out, is that right? Then kill him, zone out 2 screens, come back, and he's there again. Kill him again, and then go zone for between 1-9 minutes...where? 1 screen away or 2?

Here's the map (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/459841/43190) I'm using for reference.

Thanks y'all.
