I picked up Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger and The Caesars - Paper Tigers.
I've seen Maximo Park live, and I think they're absolutely supurb. However, something puzzles me with the Caesars album: wtf happened to it ?_? See, I was listening to them this time last year, but there album was called "32 Minutes of Bliss in an Otherwise Meaningless Life" or something, and it had Jerk It Out on it.
Paper Tigers has Jerk It Out - but also a load of other songs too! So is this there second album, but they just left Jerk It Out on (?_?), or is this some kind of crazy re-release of the other album, with nearly all the songs changed?

I recently bought:
Pearl Jam - Ten. Now I had this album for ages on a copied disk, but I much prefer to have the proper album to add to my collection, plus its a fucking great record.
The Mars Volta - L'Via L'Viaquez Single. Obviously, most people here know I am a huge fan, so I have to buy everything of theirs, it comes with an average B Side called "The Bible and The Breathalyzer"
The Flaming Lips - Oh My Gawd!! I'll admit, I dont think this album is as good as The Soft Bulletin or say Yoshimi, but its still very good, I think it has more of a punk-rock feel to it, and it shows how good a guitarist Wayne really is.
Tuesday I bought Capture/Release by the Rakes. Pretty good. I also got albums by Hard-Fi and the Features.

Recently I've bought;
Bjrk - Homogenic. A brilliant album of all sorts electronic, even the most drum n' bass track can appeal to an Indie fan.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven. This album defines 'epic,' but also has sounds of post-apocalyptica, and general ambience. A brilliant album.
Dinosaur Jr. - Bug. This a fantastic album, one any Indie fan should not be without any second of their life.
My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything. Not as good as 'Loveless,' but is still definitley up with the best 'shoegaze' records ever.
Portishead - Dummy. A brilliant, moody album. It sounds so sexy as well! Another album any Indie fan shouldn't be without.

last album i bought i had to get imported
Static Lullaby : Faso Latido
i bought it on the strength of their first album, and this one just as good in my opinion
Bonnie Pink - Heaven's Kitchen - second half is pretty great.
bridge - Preppy Kicks - Shibuya-kei music. My collection will probably start having a lot more of that since the used CD store carries so much of it.
Shinohara Tomoe - Super Model - roommate wanted to hear it, plus I have a habit of buying her music for no good reason.
Spookie - Oh! Manhattan --------\
Pop Chocolat - Nijiiro Falsetto-----> hasn't arrived yet!
Puppypet - Kokoronichishiwo-----/

Just bought another three:
At the Drive In - Realtionship of Command. If you like the hardcore/punk sorta movement, this is definately for you because it combines the energy of both, as well as being hugely original.
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde. Harmonica gets a bit annoying, but other than that, its calssic Dylan, fantastic songwriter, fantastic guitarist.
Flaming Lips - Hit to Death in the Future Head. An album that I've only recently found out about, which I'm pretty ashamed of, but I have pretty much all of their other stuff. Its a great album, with some truly genius songs.
Thankyou.

Agreeing.
I'd never take anything a magazine says seriously about best bands or anything like that. Also, anyone who is a true fan of music, doesnt have a favourite band imho. I like PF a lot, but I wouldn't call them 'best band ever' or anything like that.

Why not? My favourite band is the Flaming Lips, without a doubt, and I don't really see how having them, or any other band, as my favourite invalidates being a "true fan of music". But hey, I guess it is a difference of opinion though I don't quite understand why you hold the opinion you do.

It would be more accurate to say that a people who like music a lot should know better than to declare a band as the best band in the world ever omg. It is perfectly fine to have a favorite band though. You just happen to like that band more than anyother, it's just a matter of perference.

Maybe I should have clarified a little bit. There are 1000's and 1000's of bands out there. For me it is IMPOSSIBLE to pick a favourite, it just can't be done, there is too much stuff I adore to pick just one favourite band. Unless you have only one type of music you like, I can't see anyone else being terribly different.

Whilst I acknowledge what you are saying about a diverse mix of bands making it hard to pick one band from it all as being the best, I really don't think it is impossible. I too have a pretty diverse listening diet, imho, comprising of indie, pop, rock, experimental stuff, punk, classical and even on occasion, pop and country. But despite that, I can still definitely say who my favourite band is, and yeah, there are maybe 5 or 10 bands that are of such considerable awesome that I might mistake them as my favourite band for a little while, but when I consider the subject properly it always comes back to the Flaming Lips ^_^

He was the mastermind behind all of PF's early work. Indeed the song, Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a tribute to him.

I shall buy Nickelbacks newest on payday!
Yay!
On the topic of having favourite bands, I personally find it a bit difficult.
Cos I will totally get into a certain band, album or even one song, and listen to it over and over for like, a couple of weeks.
But then I need a break and for a while I would not class that band as my favouritest band evar.
Also, I seem to judge favourite bands by live performances also. I would class bands that I have seen live as favourites, cos of the added knowledge that they also put on a great show. In this instance, Pearl Jam.
