This will be my thread for Lossless music uploads. Mostly video game music. I WILL take requests as well for FLAC conversions of video game rips (not official OSTs).

A note on chip music. I'm aware that it may seem silly to some to make FLAC versions of video game soundtracks. The main con is the file size, notably that one FLAC song may take up more than the entirety of the soundtrack in chip format. Also there is the debate as to the quality, which I'll get into more later. The pros, however, are multitudinous. FLAC allows for tagging, which makes library management significantly easier, and easier to keep track of, make playlists, etc. FLAC is also playable by all music programs, where as there are only a handful that will play a variety of chip formats. On the quality, the argument could be made that FLAC is overkill as some of the streamed music present in the games is lossy to begin with (ADX, HPS, etc.). In these cases I will still be converting to FLAC for archival purposes, similarity, and simplicity. Theoretically, if you'd like to analyze the FLAC files and determine if you could convert them to another "lossy" format (.mp3, .m4a, etc.) without actually losing data, then feel free! Such albums will be colored red.

So if you just casually listen to video game music and don't care for putting it in a music library, using advanced playlist functions, etc., then just stick with the chip format (which I can provide, if needed). Otherwise, these FLAC rips are for your pleasure!

I will also be uploading some other music not from video games, either because of their rarity or unavailability anywhere else online.

TOOLS.
MediaMonkey as my main library. Some tagging and organizing.
Foobar2000 for conversions, vgmstream and other plugins for input.
Most importantly, hcs's site, forum, and rips! If rips exist, it saves me some of the work!

All albums will be uploaded to Mediafire with the password Vorpal_Reaper. If anything goes down, let me know and I will re-upload it!

CURRENTLY WORKING ON

In order of current priority:

- Taz - Escape from Mars (Gonna take a while, doing everything from scratch...)
- A whole SLEW of PC98 games and others.
- EVOLUTION WORLDS and MONKEY BALL 2!!! (Passion projects, each hundreds of tracks.....)
- GEX: Enter the Gecko (files ripped, need custom driver. D:)
- Maximo 2 (ripped, all tracks likely have different timing. will take a while)
- Crazy Taxi games
- Technomage (ripped, need tags)
- Obscure I and II (ripped, need tags)
- Adventure of Phix (ripped, need tags)
- Aconcagua (ripped, need tags)
- Pokemon Pinball (ripped, tagged, needs timing)

ABANDONED/UNABLE

Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled - Uses Procyon Studios drivers, extremely difficult to work with and different for almost every game.

Twinkle Star Sprites ~Le Petite Princesse~ - .ADX files very low quality (or something), and only about each of tracks and jingles. this rip, while ~256Kbps VBR, (Thread 137383) is actually not bad, so it can be downloaded there. (See my posted screenshot on page 4 (Thread 225610) for more info if interested in the quality comparison).

Zoids Legends - Unable to extract any audio files from the game, sorry.

Skylanders series: Deferred to treeleaf49's page here. (Thread 227466) Not FLAC.

Lumines Supernova and Sound Shapes: All the music seems to be in samples/parts of only a few seconds, and possibly put together in-game. If music IS rippable from them, it's certainly above my skill level, sorry.

Thank you for your efforts! It's always heartening to see people who are willing and able to do this sort of thing for the rest of the community.

I don't want to saddle you up with too much effort too soon, but there are a number of games that never received official soundtrack releases that are in my library at subpar quality, so I hope you have the time to rip them! I won't dump them on you all at once, but now and then I hope to come back to this thread and leave a few requests for soundtracks I really like. My first requests are:

♦ Illusion of Gaia, a.k.a. Illusion of Time (SNES)
♦ Crusader of Centy, a.k.a. Soleil (Genesis/Mega Drive)
♦ Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled (NDS)

I don't know if you're able to rip the soundtracks for all these systems, so I understand if you're unable to get them, but I'll be keeping my eye on the horizon for good news.

@blood falcon, Looking at the files, Toushinden 3 and 4 shouldn't be too difficult (though 4 has quite a large soundtrack). 1 and 2 I'm still looking in to.

@Housecleaner Sure. Always happy to rip a Richard Jacques soundtrack. I hadn't heard that one, and loving corny 90's video game trance music, I actually really liked that soundtrack... :3

@hoolo Illusion of Gaia was on my list, so that'll be done soon. Crusader of Centy shouldn't take long, and the 3rd one is going to take a bit more research.

Thanks a lot for Illusion of Gaia and Crusader of Centy already! Pretty quick turnaround, I'm impressed.

Not sure what you mean with 'emplay ReplayGain' - I'm not very well versed with any kind of technical aspect of music or music players, really, just throwing the music I have in there without any kind of tinkering. I do see what you mean with it being very quiet, it's slightly softer on some tracks than the rip I had in my playlist already (VBR V2). What would ReplayGain do, and how would I apply it?

The only thing I otherwise noticed about this rip is that it doesn't contain a track I have called Russian Glass (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAYEdPZHW8U), which is just Danger Abounds (Descent into Darkness) sped up.

1337haXXor
07-22-2018, 04:15 PM
@Hoolo, ReplayGain is something that boosts the volume of a track internally (with the player), WITHOUT altering the actual track (which may make it TOO loud, decreasing the integrity of the file). Most popular audio programs will do this, either per album, or for the whole library. For example, I use MediaMonkey and I have my entire library levelled to 92db. I used to have it levelled at 94db, but this caused sound clipping and distortion on some louder (probably not mastered properly) albums, so I bumped it down to 92. Depending on what music program you use, ReplayGain will be performed differently, just search for your program and ReplayGain and I'm sure there will be some sort of tutorial. Even separate from this soundtrack, it's amazing. I hadn't used it for a while and just had to crank the volume up or down sometimes depending on the album, now I never have to worry about it!

In regards to Russian Glass, it doesn't seem to be present in the files of the game, so I image the game just sequenced the original track at a higher speed. I won't add it to the archive I've created as it's not one of the .spc files, but I WILL point you to a fantastic resource I found: https://audiotrimmer.com/audio-speed-changer/ Using this, I practiced on a couple of tracks, and it accepts .FLAC AND does not appear to have ANY loss in the conversion process, so you can upload the original song, pace it up accordingly, and rename the newly created track appropriately. :)

@dekk360, Coming right up!

@137haXXor. Bro, I hope you haven't forgotten my requests for Toshinden. Sorry if I sounded too demanding

1337haXXor
07-24-2018, 06:03 AM
@blood falcon, For Toshinden 3 and 4, I have the .xa files and for Nitoshinden I have the .ape files, but no idea for a tracklist or song titles at all. For 1, 2, and puzzle, I have the iso's ready to be dug into. Being unfamiliar with the entire series makes it impossible to formulate a tracklist without playing the entire games or watching comprehensive longplays and creating educated names for the tracks. I won't upload something with just "track 01" etc. as the files names, unless you were totally fine with that. Even more, if I could do that and you could come back with names for the tracks (if you're exceedingly familiar with the games,) that would be even better and I could keep them here in a more "complete" form.

blood_falcon
07-24-2018, 07:34 AM
@1337haXXor. Bro, for the titles, I think we can use this youtube playlist for reference

Toshinden 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z214Xnhg7LA&list=PLtRuYKzs3Kx_thWAKAj9qXBaTYXsQz8S6
Toshinden 4: we can use *********.com's theme naming, https://downloads.*********.com/game-soundtracks/album/toshinden-4-psx
For Nitoshinden, I want you just upload as Track01 first to me, and then I will rename it accordingly.

Thank you again, bro.

Also, I was able to find and rip the Lotus Turbo Challenge soundtrack for the Sega system, which is the port of the Amiga's Lotus Turbo Challenge 2. Let me know if this is acceptable, as I was unable to come across the Amiga version's files. I may have to look deeper.

Shining Force I and II are completed as well! Will finish Phantasy Star IV in the morning.

@Hoolo, Did it delete my last message? I wrote that Black Sigil likely uses the Procyon drivers, which are extremely difficult/impossible to work with. You could trying poking around the hcs forums, as user named loveemu made a procyon_ripper a while back, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Not only is it not in 2sf format, there's not even an SDAT to work with, so my knowledge has reached its limit. It must've been done at some point, because Galbadia Hotel has mp3's of it. They're not great quality, but it's something if you don't have any of it. Sorry, and good luck!

@Housecleaner, Got 'em both up! The Amiga one even comes with two "remix" tracks Barry Leitch composed that never made it into the game. :)

@dekk360, Thanks for the tip! I used a ' instead of a " and it threw off the formatting.

Also, I uploaded Phantasy Star IV.

Looking at Dragon Force, there are ~200 or so tracks, a lot being very short. I see that this album has an actual release, (https://vgmdb.net/album/1891) and there is a tracklisting of 42 on Galbadia, so I can use both of these to help me tag it. Might take a while, though.

Yup, I give up. :/ Using 3 different methods, I get different errors, from either not getting any .VH files, to not getting enough .VB files, to the .SEQ files themselves being "unable to be parsed." Only way of doing this is going into the Hex code for the whole game to personally find each of the offsets, which is waaaaay above my skill level. If you want any possible chance, and you'll have to get lucky to find someone nice and willing, you could try the HCS Forums (https://hcs64.com/mboard/forum.php). I've uploaded the game (which took me a while in itself to find) at 114MB, so if you're wanting to ask HCS, let me know and I'll give you the URL for the game to give to them, or to download/upload yourself and maybe take a stab at it. Sorry again!

Also, Bomberman Jetters incoming.

Thanks for trying to the end, bro 1337haXXor for Toshinden Card Quest. Now I am waiting for the SF EX collection. I cannot wait for you to start delivering them

1337haXXor
08-25-2018, 01:34 AM
The first two are up. :)

They were in .xa format, so there was not "natural" way to extend them. You could use Audacity or something and delicately copy and paste the relevant segments to your liking.

3rd one won't take too long, there are just two "versions" of each song, and I'm not sure why. One sounds a little "brighter" than the other. They don't appear to be from different consoles... Maybe I'll upload a few doubles to you and you can tell me which one you prefer.

THANK YOU Bro 1337haXXor. Thank you again. Btw, can I request another gamerip. This game is a very obscure game from Treasure and Enix. It is called Rakugaki Showtime, a PSX game, played exactly like Power Stone in Dreamcast and it even features Marina of Mischief Makers.

1337haXXor
08-25-2018, 04:06 AM
Always happy to work on anything from Treasure. I have the .XA files, but am unable to find a tracklisting anywhere. YouTube has a playlist of 25 out of the 49 songs, so I can tag those then send the rest your way if you're willing to tag/track # the rest. :)

Okey doke, Rakugaki Showtime is up, along with one of my personal favorites, Bomberman 64 - The Second Attack!

EDIT: For the track #s on Rakugaki, I watched a playthrough of the game on YouTube and used my basic Japanese knowledge to order the tracks. There were a couple, Mamu and Chousuke's Theme's that I didn't know where to put them, so I squeezed them inbetween the other battle theme songs, though if those are actually playable characters (unlockable later?) then they should go towards the end with the other playable character theme songs.

hello 1337haXXor,

Hey, CC, I just double checked and it does seem that the Lossless thread has all of those uploaded. :) Didn't check if they were active, but they were all within the last few years, so they should be fine. Unless any of them was particularly lacking in missing/unused songs, I typically do gamerips of games that don't have any official releases, or have incomplete releases. Let me know if that's any of them!

64's Sin & Punishment is up, working on the Wii one now. No titles at all, so I'm watching a longplay and tagging them as such. That *should* cover all the tracks, if there's any unknowns, I'll turn it upon you guys to figure them out, as I'm not as familiar with the game. :)

@Housecleaner, I'm really sorry man... I decided to check it out and it's more than 400 tracks!! AND the music isn't timed, tagged, or anything. It would take literally months... It's a shame, because it really does sound nice! I'm surprised out of all the super fans, no one's taken it on yet. If you're exceedingly familiar with the soundtrack, your best bet would be to grab the MP3's from Zophar (https://www.zophar.net/music/sega-dreamcast-dsf/shenmue-ii), though they're not named properly either. Though I'd normally not advocate for MP3, the size is over 1GB. If I were to just straight convert to FLAC at the 3 minute lengths, it would be somewhere around 8GB, and that's a lot of untagged, untimed music! Sorry I couldn't help you out, but fortunately, someone *has* ripped the .DSFs, so it's only a matter of time before *someone* decides to embark on the journey of a proper gamerip for it.

I'm back with a few more requests after a period of time so I don't feel like I'm barraging with requests constantly.

This time I would like to request the two games by Cing starring Kyle Hyde:
♦ Hotel Dusk: Room 215
♦ Last Window: The Secret of Cape West

Again, I do already have these soundtracks in MP3 formats, but it would be really nice to have lossless versions of these tracks. They're just so smooth.

I hope you're able to acquire the soundtracks for these two, they deserve more recognition. Good luck!

Thank you for your answer, 1337haXXor. No problem, I knew it was a lot, but this is more than I had guessed. For me only is that much work not necessary. Nevertheless thanks for the link :)

08-30-2018, 12:01 PM
Haha, I don't mean that I've heard bad things about the game or soundtrack, I mean I've heard that it's notoriously difficult to rip! :-)

blood_falcon
08-30-2018, 12:09 PM
no problem, bro 1337haXXor. I have one more request actually, if it is not too bothersome to you. The game is called Twinkle Star Sprites - La Petite Princesse, an obscure PS2 game. It is a VS SHMUP made by SNK Playmore and it has one of the most techno OST around.

1337haXXor
08-30-2018, 02:33 PM
Hmm, looks like the Twinkle Star games have a few soundtracks, this one (https://vgmdb.net/album/5541) for the PS2, including rearranged versions, and this one ("https://vgmdb.net/album/3337) for the original Neo Geo release. Just out of curiosity, I tried looking at the files, but the existing rips are incomplete, containing only about 12 songs and a few jingles, versus the apparently complete OSTs. Haven't looked for links to the OST, and though it's probably rare, it's your best bet for a complete, lossless soumdtrack.

blood_falcon
08-30-2018, 03:08 PM
The OST is very rare and very pricey on eBay. The PS2 game included the original NeoGeo release. The rip only have the PS2 ones. I have the original NeoGeo OST and AST releases from bro Snkhero. Only the PS2 release is missing. So, for the gamerip that you mention, it is for PS2. You could the adx files from zophar or joshw

---------- Post added at 10:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:53 PM ----------

*I mean, you could obtain the adx files from zophar or joshw. And I really thank you for trying to get PSF2 for Street Fighter EX 3

1337haXXor
08-30-2018, 11:05 PM
Yeah, I was looking at the .ADXs, but the problem is out of ~30, 10+ are doubles, and a bunch are jingles, so there are only about a dozen unique pieces in the files. I could put together some sort of sampler if you were interested, I guess. And for SFIII, no dice either. :( Everything is stored in a 600MB .dat file which makes it incredibly difficult to track down the audio files unless you know exactly where to look.

Also, the Wii Sin & Punishment is complete, I just left the files on my work computer, so I'll upload it tomorrow.

@Hoolo, If you have any ideas now, let me know, no need to wait! I only have one other difficult I'm working on now, and I'm doing that only a bit at a time.

Hoolo
08-31-2018, 05:35 PM
Apparently there's not a lot of games left that I like and don't have an official release, but there's a few still...

Let's see, there's...
♦ Skyblazer? The tracks I have in my playlist have some of the lowest bitrates in my entire collection, it's ridiculous.
♦ Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. One of the best and most fun Dragon Quest titles, yet the Slime Morimori titles have never gotten official soundtracks.

And for a hat-trick, it would also be nice if you could turn up lossless versions of the three Pokmon Ranger games. I was thinking of Mystery Dungeon at first, but Iiyoshi has expressed intent to get those soundtracks officially released, which I'm not really expecting to happen for Ranger. Still good music though.

Hope it's not too much all at once, but I'm looking forward to seeing whatever you can turn up. You're doing great work.

09-03-2018, 05:03 AM
Okay, after some pretty in-depth analysis, I've determined that the files present in Twinkle Star Sprites are very subpar (.ADX), or the ADPCM input component is not as good, when compared to this release here, (Thread 137383) all between ~185-285 bitrate. Normally I would not condone mp3, let alone sub-320, but I can say with assurance that the release there has very good sound for the bitrate. There is some very quiet, medium frequency hissing, but it's not as bad as the higher frequency, louder hissing on the .ADX conversion. I have a pretty expensive setup, so it's likely most people wouldn't even notice it without looking for it.

I have here posted for peace of mind, a screenshot of the comparison. () With the exception of a teensy amount of clipping on some tracks of the MP3, that version of the soundtrack is very good, considering. The FLAC conversations of the ADX files have a very low max frequency, and there are no options to play around with the ADPCM input, not that I know tweaking anything would do any good. But I DO have the FLAC rips, and about 10 of them tagged (though hearing some of the original tracks, I think some of these ADXs might be from those, and not all from the arranged, PS2 version, as I have them tagged, so a few may be wrong anyway). If you'd like, blood, I can get that to you, but the relatively complete nature of the other posted one leaves me to place that one here on my page instead of the partial, in my opinion sub-par, rip, so I would delete it from my cloud after you downloaded it. Just let me know. :3

In other news, Dynamite Headdy has been uploaded, and my next project is Mario Party 1-3.

Never heard of it until now, it looks like it depends on which chip the game uses (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FM_Towns#Sound) and a couple other factors, namely the game file type and availability. I could try, though, but don't expect much. :3

As for the other two, I have the games downloaded and will try ripping some music from them now.

EDIT: And Chase HQ is up. Kind of a weird one, a few of the tracks had dialogue-only versions. I uploaded it exactly how it was present on the game, though I cut a bit of silence between dialogues in a few tracks. Feel free to perform your own preferential cutting when downloaded.

Okay, Mystical Ninja 2, 3, and 4 are up. Strikers 1945 for Arcade, Saturn, and PSX are up, working on the last two. Also Asuka 120 FINAL Burning Fest. And an AMAZING soundtrack to SNES's The Flintstones. Main artist was Jonathan Dunn, but Keith Tinman also worked on it, along with the legendary Dean Evans. I would highly suggest giving it a listen!

I've also slightly rearranged the order of things, putting the "series" after the consoles.

Okay, put a few more hours into rips today, plowing through some things. Uploaded the Arcade version of Strikers 1945 II, more incoming. Also gave the Strikers 1945 games their own section towards the bottom. I'm also in collaboration with another user for better versions of the Sly soundtracks, though that may take a while, just something to look forward to. Additionally, some of the Skylanders series is in the same boat. They're all massive soundtracks (~300 for the Skylanders, ~400 for Sly), so I don't know how I'll host them. :/ As they say in Jaws, "you're gonna need a bigger boat."

EDIT: Okay, Strikers is completely finished. All versions, I believe. The PSP version is kind of redundant, though, and technically lossy, just did it for completion.

Okay, finished the Striker 1945 games, uploaded something else (can't remember now), and am working with another user on Sly 4, and possibly 2 and 3 in the future. AutoBlood, working on those 4 right now. Metropolismania's have ~20 tracks each, but no tags. I'm not familiar with the games and there appears to be very little in the way of soundtracks on YouTube or elsewhere, are you familiar enough with the games to provide track names and possible track orders? The Blinx games have a bit more documentation, so I should be good on tagging the majority of those, I may just need help on some of the "extras" if you're familiar, otherwise they'll be listed as "Unknown X" or something.

EDIT: Oh, also here is the link ("Thread 227466') to the Skylanders gamerip page, for those interested.

It's been awhile since I've played either Metropolismania so I might not be able to help there unfortunately. How many tracks do you have for the Blinx soundtracks? There are lossy rips out there with proper names for each track that might help. I have them downloaded if you'd like a look. I don't know if they include the 'extras' though. Thanks for working on these and I'm hyped for the Sly soundtracks as well.

1337haXXor
11-09-2018, 06:29 AM
Yeah, I see Blinx soundtracks on "that other site" that shows 24 for Blinx 1 and 48 for Blinx 2. I have 66 and 49 respectively (other one of Blinx2 is the bootsound). The problem is they're .adx, which is lossy, and looking at the other site, it's not going to be any higher quality. I may be able to make a more compact lossy file, but whatever's around will probably be your best bet. :/ The Blinx 1 files I have are a bit weird, so I'll definitely look into if there's anything interesting there.

The Metropolismania ones, however, are lossless. :3

The second game's tracks are just BGM_00 -> BGM_19. The first game has single word track names like "BLACK" "BOSSA" "JAZZ" "NORMAL," so we'll see.

Lastly, the Pokemon Ranger games are complete! Sorry it took so long...

Also a little bonus, I've uploaded a collection of Unused/Unreleased tracks by Dean Evans that were uploaded to his own YouTube channel. They're only 128kbps mp3, but it's Dean Evans, so I'll take what I can get. Also, since he himself uploaded them, this is the best quality they'll ever be, unless someone were to get the songs directly from him. :D

Have you also tried checking out the Sly Trilogy for PS3, maybe the music for Sly 1-3 are in better quality there or in better form?

bro 1337haXXor, can you rip Maximo games like when you rip Toshinden Card Quest?

Thanks bro

Hmm, I seem to remember seeing that the PS3 version is just a copy paste of the PS2 versions, unfortunately, just like for Spyro and Crash. I have 1 I'm finalizing right now. The problem with 4 is there's almost 400 tracks... Which would be massive in FLAC, and they're not really adequately tagged. So if someone would help me with the tagging and hosting (I'm almost out of space. D:) I could do that one.

The problem with the Maximo games is they're in a weird format, I'll have to do some more digging and see if I can figure it out.

Also, I uploaded the CD-DA rip of Street Fighter Alpha 1 (Warriors' Dreams). It's an arranged album that was on the physical game disc, pretty good.

PonyoBellanote
02-10-2019, 03:43 PM
You mean copypaste in terms of the audio files, or game wise? Because they were sort of remasters, so in that case, yes. Spyro and Crash were remakes. I was wondering if the PS3 port had better quality for the streams or anything. Or is the exact same audio files as the PS2 isos.

Also I was told Sony's release of Sly 4's OST oficially was complete but I am not exactly sure if that's right or not, what is certain, if it's complete, it's out of order.

1337haXXor
02-10-2019, 06:55 PM
Yeah, I meant the audio files. I'll look for the thread on hcs, but I *believe* the audio files are just copied over. Which is especially unfortunate for Spyro, as those rips are... infamously difficult.

I... thought I uploaded the first one? It's just sitting on my desktop. :/ I'm uploading it now.

Looking online, I see that Sly 4's OST is 55 tracks and a little over 2 hours. The game rip I'm looking at right now is 380 tracks and just under 6 hours. >.> Though a lot are the different variants of songs, AND these are being converted from .at9 files which are mono and not the greatest quality to begin with. This is normally a time where I would choose quality of comprehensiveness and say the OST would be better, though I'm not a huge fan of the series so there may be well loved songs missing from the OST. Once I upgrade my cloud storage provider I might upload it, as it's around 1GB, but right now I'm hurting for space. D:

Yup, we got Maximo figured out, working on those currently.

Muppets I have the files for, but it's going to require quite a bit of tagging. If I sent you the files, are you familiar enough with the game to add tags and tracklists? If not I can do it, it'll just take some time.

Lastly, I see that the first track seems to be from a demo called Demo One (PAL), but what's the second one from? There seem to be many Euro Demos and OPSM Demos. If you could possibly identify it here, (https://crimson-ceremony.net/demopals/opmspecials/) that would be helpful.

EDIT: Maximo 1 is up and should be fixed and proper. I also got that Underwater theme for you, Ponyo. On the actual disc it's only 30 seconds and starts a bit harshly, I just uploaded it as it was. You could probably load it up in audacity and add a small fade in and maybe loop it easily to run for a bit longer.

Thank you for the rips man, quality stuff.

Any chance you could rip the PSG & FM music from Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds? a few poor quality recordings are all there's of it on the internet.

1337haXXor
02-24-2019, 01:42 AM
Hmm, I'm not super familiar with the game, but looking on this site there seem to multiple uploads of the soundtrack and gamerips, so I assume that this PSG and FM music is something different? What does it stand for? I'm looking at the files and I'm not sure how to go about it, I'm not too familiar with Vita rips. I can take a look, but don't get too hopeful. Looking at this thread and post (Thread 217595), it looks like that guy will be taking on this endeavor so you can message that guy and see what he says. Also, it seems that ParrotHead there is pretty interested as well, and it seems that he is responsible for some of the FM rips on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RU7Ts9imvs4).

JP12
02-24-2019, 02:19 AM
The PSG and FM versions are two variations of the soundtrack that mimick retro game music styles (FM is what PC-88/98, Genesis and some other systems used, PSG was used by the MSX i think), but those were DLC and never got an official release. There is a Switch version of the game that includes them, getting them from there might be easier than going for the Vita version.

And that's for linking to that thread, i'll check it out.

1337haXXor
02-24-2019, 08:30 AM
Yeah, it seems like that one guy is pretty keen on getting it done eventually, and he seems much more familiar with it so it would more accurate. That's cool that game had those soundtrack variants!

Ponyo, any news on which demo disc that second one was? And did you get the song from Demo One?

I put up Separate Hearts, a fantastic soundtrack by Takeshi Abe.

Also for the muppets racing game, there's only one video of the whole thing and it's a speedrun with commentary... So all I'll be able to tag are the tracks from Galbadia, which is 30. But I have- nevermind. I have a bunch more tracks, but 30 are just cutscenes. That leaves me with 33 tracks, and 30 are on Galbadia, so perfect! I'll have that up maybe tomorrow.

My familiarity with the Muppets Racemania isn't really that much outside of casual plays; but tagging a rip shouldn't be strictly too hard. To start, I'll give you the composers: Andy Blythe and Marten Joustra. As for the names of the songs and order, you can just use any other rip on the internet for reference. The reason I wanted you to do it is because you'd prolly do it in FLAC. Sorta. Any reference like that is decent.

As for the demos, I've been looking through them myself, still haven't quite found the one I showed, but it's not too far to find, I'll hit you up as soon as I found exactly what disc it was. As for the Disc One thing, I thank you for your job, but there's not much I can do with a 30 second bit that is looped and not complete. Can you not finish it yourself? I don't mind if it takes longer, I'm in no hurry.

Also, you forgot to add Sly 1 to the thread, and the version you uploaded of Demo One.. isn't there, it's just a blank link.

1337haXXor
02-24-2019, 03:02 PM
Ugh, I'm a muppet sometimes. Demo One's link is up, if I finish all of the other stuff I wanna upload today I might take a second look at that track and loop it.

Muppet Mania is up, you're right, it's pretty darn catchy! And yeah, I didn't realize there were already a few rips floating around, so tagging was easy. Note: my typical style is making the cover art the start screen from the games, this one's is awful... I still did it for consistency, but whoever downloads it might want to make their own cover.

And Sly 1 is up, it's a few spots before 2 and 3, "2002-09-23 - Ashif Hakik - Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus."

I'm sorry to ask for more requests, but in the bright side, it'll help your catalog to be much bigger and diverse.

When you can, try doing Digimon Rumble Arena on the PS1. And try compare between PAL/USA. Check the files and if they both have the exact same, the compare with the Japanese game. If there's any exclusive track, put it on your release as a bonus at the end.

Try also Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex, by the same guys behind Muppet Racemania. It's just as catchy so it won't be annoying. Unless there's a gamerip here already that I haven't checked.

Of course, I'll try help you if anything comes by that I can assist.

Let's see:

Everblue 2 is up, great soundtrack!

Crash Bandicoot won't be hard, I should be done tonight.

Digimon, we'll see... The Digimon games are one of the hardest to rip, I believe they use a custom encoding that may or may not have been fully figured out yet.

And Ace Combat 7, dang, that one just came out. O.o Lemme see if anyone else has worked on it, if not I'm sure it'll pop up soon, they're pretty popular.

Battletoads and Battletoads: Double Dragon are uploaded, I just have to link them. Just a matter of preference, the SNES versions are better, but if you grew up with the Genesis one that one would sound better. :)

Awesome, thanks! You have to individually password protect each file, BUT (I found out once refreshing), it autosaves the password so I don't have to actually TYPE it each time. Problem is, it just shows **** so I had to make sure it worked properly. There still may be some that are accidentally caps locked, but if anyone gets one of those I'll fix it. Okay, MTGP1 is uploaded, I like this one quite a bit more than the 2nd game!

With the Crazy Taxi games, we'll see. The vast majority of the licensed music from them is by The Offspring, Bad Religion, and Methods of Madness, and they'd be in horrible compressed format on the disc. That's assuming I can get it off, as Dreamcast games are much more difficult to rip.

I would appreciate it very much if you can upload a game rip of Excitebots (Wii) in FLAC!

Years ago another user and I tried our hands at converting the source files from the ISO to FLAC but we encountered a strange issue: the first 2 seconds would be full lossless going over 20kHz, but then it would become cutoff at about 12kHz or 14kHz. This was consistent across all the game's tracks.

It seems the game's files switch audio modes or something after the first 2 seconds of a track? I really hope you can figure this out and overcome it!

Welcome back everyone! I've uploaded Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monster Coliseum, which is surprisingly good from 2 composers I've never heard of. Also, sorry blood, I can't get Lumines Supernova or Sound Shapes; all the music is split into samples that are only a few seconds long and I assumed assembled during play. There might be a way to put them together properly, but that's above my skill level.

Just uploaded Zero Divide, as the OST is obscure and I've only seen it for sale for $100+. This gamerip is only missing 2 tracks (one's just a remix for the OST). It is insanely good, I highly recommend checking it out! It's mostly progressive rock/jazz fusion, with EDM/House elements.

EDIT: Also for you Tryptide, I got around to ripping the E.G.G. Cutscenes, there were 7. Some are heavy on SFX/Voiceover, some aren't too bad. I've not edited them in any way, just uploaded them. :)

Hi! Can you do a tagged rip for Blade on the PS1? The soundtrack is reminiscent of DMC's aggressive rock style.

Finished! There was a lot of silence to cut and other edits, and I watched a longplay to tag it, but I think it turned out great. There're actually some really good early dnb/trance tracks on there!

No problem bro 1337haXXor, thank you for trying. Now just waiting for Tricky Sliders and Lumines on Vita

Tricky Sliders is up! I extended the length on most of them, but some were impossible to catch an easy loop point, so they're capped at 3:05... It doesn't sound unnatural, though.

I also uploaded all of the available releases from OverLooked ReMiX, as the site's been down for almost a year and linked the separate page.

Ive been using your Tetris 99 gamerip so I wanted to ask if you could update it with the 2.0 content as the unlockable themes they added have new arrangements of tracks from the games they are from.

1337haXXor
09-07-2019, 04:53 PM
Yup! Just got ahold of the 2.0 and blood falcon has graciously offered to help tag, so when that's finished I'll have it uploaded.

Also, just uploaded Daniel Masson's Donald Duck- Goin' Quackers, which is a really neat soundtrack, reminiscent of the Spyro games. I also have added an "Extras" version of the tracks. They are mostly short, untagged, and completely unknown to me. I believe some of them are unreleased, prototype, or alterations of songs or riffs, but I'm unsure. If anyone recognizes any as "official" songs that I could add to the original soundtrack, let me know!

Awww yiss, Tetris 2.0 is up, baby! BIG thanks to blood for the tagging. Also, I didn't realize how popular this game/soundtrack was. It's my most downloaded OST, to the point that it almost has more downloads then EVERYTHING ELSE I've uploaded! O.o Well, this one is 1.1GB, versus the old 200MB. So rip my bandwidth. XD

Welcome back everyone, got a few rips completed in the downtime: Mario Hoops 3 on 3 and The Wizard of Oz for the DS, both really great soundtracks, the latter by Hitoshi Sakimoto and his team! I also uploaded Unreal Tournament, which is a great one from Alexander Brandon and Michiel van den Bos's production team.

EDIT: Also added Lethal League Blaze (Thanks blood!) and the Einhander OST. It's not a gamerip, but I put it in the "other" section because I see it requested on this site pretty often.

I added Rescue Shot, a very interesting and funky soundtrack. It's missing the title theme, options, and maybe a couple others, but I was unable to find those in the game files unfortunately.

@PrinceSnake, sure, I'll look into them.

EDIT: Added 2 more Yuki Iwai soundtracks, courtesy of blood falcon, two PSP R-Type soundtracks.

good day mr 1337haXXor, if you're still taking requests, i would like to know if you could convert Tenchu Z OST, the josh.w archive has a rip of the music files but i can't for the life of me use foobar2000 nor vgmstream to convert it to FLAC, it's especially a shame since the rest of the series soundtracks are also available in FLAC formats, i posted a request in the request section but to no avail, so if you could do just this you're a boss, thanks a million in advance

Okay, working on both Obscures, Technomage I just have to tag, A Way Out has 200+ tracks, a lot are slightly different levels of action or something for the same theme, and Heavy Rain I just have to tag. Do you know A Way Out enough to know the differences between the theme variations?

Tenchu Z is uploaded. The rip on HCS seems to not have all of the tracks from the couple of YT playlists I used to tag, but it's almost all there, and there are a few "unknown" tracks as well.

Hello 1337haXXor, I played the game with my brother only once, but I don't the game very well (so sorry to be useless). When I have asked to the game studio. They said "We posted it on Youtube"
Then A LOT (I don't joke here) of people asked for a soundtrack.

I have mailed them twice for a year. Their last answer was "It might coming in a near future"
2 years later nothing, mailed them once again and they just said "no" without any explanations. You're a lifesaver.

Are the gamerips (lossless or not?) do you upload them as their original files or are you converting them once you have finished the work?
Please take your time, I don't want to rush you, I am very grateful. I wanted to ask these requests for years, but did not bother to ask because I thought you were "closed".

My bad! I think I accidentally typed the password wrong... I've fixed it now, I couldn't access the site at work. Sorry!

Well, that's unfortunate of the studio... The files were all originally .XA, which is pretty standard, and the quality of all of the files were generally pretty high, considering. The average was ~400kbps. So the FLAC is going to take up a bit more space, but more uniform for libraries. If you'd like the .xa rip, it should be up on hcs whenever they get around to approving it. So would you like me to send it to you untagged, or do you know someone who knows the game well enough to help tag it? They have basic tags, currently, like "mus_amb_day_arrival" and "mus_trailerpark", etc.

I would love to have them in their original format if you don't mind. Hcs would provide them untagged as well. Mostly Obscures scores please tell me they are actually lossless please? And the others?

1337haXXor
09-27-2019, 11:45 PM
Yeah, that's how I uploaded it to hcs, as usual. As far as actual lossless... that's pretty uncommon in game files, especially older ones, unless it's in a CDDA format (Dreamcast, rare PSX or others). Obscure 2 is ~160kbps ogg, which is slightly higher quality of an mp3 of the same bitrate, and Obscure 1 is ~200kbps wma, and some higher quality cutscene files I need to figure out how to play (.ra format, txtp says XBOX code). So A Way Out is kind of an outlier with its higher than normal quality, but it is a newer game.

Technomage's PSX version is a medium quality .xa, and is.. screwy, I'm still working on it. But the PC release is much better, it's ~350kbps WAV (IMA ADPCM) and the video files are a lower quality .BIK (I'm assuming I'd just keep the Logo, Intro, Outro, etc.).

Heavy Rain's ps3 rip is available on hcs, but it's ~800 mp3 files or so, so not great.. BUT the PC version is supposedly coming out in 2019 according to Wikipedia, but I can't find ANY info on it! Is it going to be Steam? I literally can't find any info, lol. But hopefully the PC version will use higher quality files.

nah it's totally alright, we all make mistakes, as for the missing tracks you mentioned, i double checked the rip alongside the official OST and i found that it's almost exactly the same except for 1 instrumental version of the opening theme and 2 instrumental versions of the ending theme which is no biggie tbh, anyhow thanks a million

Airforce Delta uploaded, thanks to blood for the tagging.

Still working on the ones on my list, all in various states of completion. I'll be slowing down for a while, as this is the "busy season" for my job for the next few months. I'll still be around though. Simple conversions and basic tags (not all track titles) are quick and can be done in less than 30 minutes. But complete rips, conversions, and tags can take multiple hours, so those ones (though I enjoy doing them) will likely be on pause for a bit. I have to keep updating my "working on" section in the first post.

good luck on your job, if you can do it i have another request, i hope it isn't time consuming

ICO: this game never got a lossless version of it's soundtrack (believe me i've searched far and wide, there simply isn't one) unfortunate, since SotC has a lossless version of it's soundtrack somewhere i believe, the music files are on the josh.w archive too

please take your time, you did me a huge favor for Tenchu Z and i'm VERY grateful for it, thanks a ton in advance, again good luck with your job

Do you mean this? (https://vgmdb.net/album/128) All the links here are dead, but it looks like you can get it for less than $20 online.

Generally I don't do rips of games that have existing soundtracks, but the rip on hcs does have a few extra tracks and lots of what seem to be sound effects/jingles, along with almost all the tracks on the OST. And the quality is ~500kbps+, so pretty decent. I'll rip it if you'd like to help with tagging/ordering, as I'm unfamiliar with the game's music.

Warlord500
09-29-2019, 09:54 AM
yeah that one, while i understand that you don't do games with existing soundtracks (Tenchu Z does have a soundtrack release but it's non existent online) Ico doesn't have a lossless version anywhere on the shrine nor the internet as a whole, which is a shame because SoTC has one (on reddit) and even a game rip right here somewhere

and i really only ask for games that don't have proper FLAC rips anywhere else or are at least popular enough to get one eventually, so thank you very very much for making this request an exception

and definitely, i would love to help you with tagging/ordering, it's the least i can do, again thank you so much

PrinceSnake, just sent both versions of TechnoMage to you, if you'd like to help tagging. PC is already almost finished, and PSX only has a few tracks.

sarmega, I'm working on ICO.

Robo, I'll take a look, though Saturn games are difficult to work with. I've found a few .cpk files, which appear to be DSPs, but I can't quite figure out how to get that audio. I'll keep looking.

Lots of updates. Got Aero Fighters 2 and 3 for the Neo Geo CD, Exit DS, Mario and Luigi Partners in time, and in a minute here we'll have AirForce Storm Delta.

EDIT: If you downloaded either of the Aero Fighters before seeing this message, I've fixed the tracks; there were originally 10 seconds of silence after every one for some reason... It's all good now.

A little question. Is your personal rip of the Einhnder OST based on the original DigiCube release or the 2007 Square Enix reprint? I'm just being curious.

1337haXXor
10-22-2019, 04:32 AM
Just checked, mine is the original DigiCube print. Is there a difference in the mastering or anything?

Nothing. I'm just a bit worried, that's all. Oh, by the way, thanks for the Einhnder soundtrack. It did became one of my favorite OSTs and made me aware of many other shmup soundtracks.

Not really, both are equal in terms of mastering since the 2007 one is basically a reprint. I'm just concerned about the possibility of your rip being from a bootleg. Luckily, that is not the case.
