It appears that at least Zimmer has tried to develop some new ideas for Superman, but Junkie's Batman material seems to go nowhere. The Batman suite is just repetitive with some silence and then the same thundering horn motif beginning and closing it. Gets boring after a few listens. The same thing would sound awesome if done with different instruments, but I don't think Junkie has it in him to go beyond his horns and drums.

Totally agree... I think Junkie XL is amazing at rythmics, but for the rest I find his music far too simplistic and repetitive from movie to movie (with some exceptions here and there). A score composed by HZ, with rythms provided by Junkie XL, is perfectly fine (I loved MoS). A score composed solely by Junkie XL often has very cool bits, but as a whole it's never convinced me.

The last Junkie XL score that I loved was Divergent where he displayed tremendous range and creativity. Too bad he hasn't capitalized on that since then.

Yep you're right. But from Divergent I only recall a few tracks, the rest being more or less filler. The few first track like "Tris" or "Capture the flag" had a pop-quality, with a really catchy theme and nice rythm. The same quality can be found in "Brothers in Arms" from Mad Max Fury Road, such a great, entertaining track.

Actually its accurate...
The reference he makes about reusing ideas from Sherlock Holmes and Captain America: The Winter Soldier is spot on. The track 'The Red Capes are Coming' sounds like it should be from his Sherlock Holmes scores.
And there are a couple of tracks where Zimmer uses the 'Scream' sound (I guess you can call it that... not sure what to call it) from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

I feel that this Sherlock Holmes sound fits the reimagined character of Lex Luthor pretty well. Of course, I will have to wait and see the movie to make any valid judgments.

Since we finally can actually talk about the score itself, what about any stuff we didn't heard in samples: any thematic material for Wonder Woman or Doomsday? And yes, is there any awesome action outside Is She With You track?

If Wonder Woman or Doomsday did get their own themes, I couldn't tell... So probably not.. :P But then again, I've only listened to the OST 3 times the whole way through. The rest I've just been listening to my favorite tracks.
I forgot to mention that the into to 'Must There Be A Superman?' reminds me of the intro to 'Stamped' from The Lion King. So there's another comparison other than Sherlock Holmes and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Another thing about this track is that halfway through it turns into this synthesized, discombobulated sounding track. Like something horrific is supposed to be happening. I bet it's the scene we see in the trailers where Batman is at the desert setting and gets attack by the Superman Soldiers.
And the best action tracks already have been sampled. :/ Not to say that there isn't any other good action tracks, just nothing like 'Their War Here' or 'Is She With You?'

Hi guys!
OK, I've been stlaking this thread ever since it had just four pages. I managed to find those Batman and Superman themes, allegedly made by a member of Hans-Zimmer.com, but now I see you guys are already discussing the entire soundtrack. How can one get a hold of it earlier? What must one do to get it in full? I just have Their War Here and those two tracks called Superman theme and Batman theme.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since I'm stuck.
Thanks
LE: Talking about Their War Here, I liked the percussion used and how the Batman theme seems to run in the background. They compliment each other nicely.
As for the Batman theme, or the 9 minute leak from some time ago, while I agree that the theme doesn't seem to go anywhere, I appreciate Junkie tried to incorporate a sort of "hats-off" to the fans, since there are cues taken from Shirley Walker's Batman TAS theme. At least that's how 0:18 to 1:30 sounds to me. Think TAS S02 theme slowed down a few tempos.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GufAHzhNcS8 or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge5HZuKd9Bc I think the theme has some more elements we haven't heard yet, since towards the end he seems to start using a choir in the Batman theme as well, but it ends shortly after so I can't be sure. Maybe it will just be a missed opportunity when I finally listen to the whole thing.
As far as Is She With You, which I heard on YT some time ago shortly before it got deleted (and now I can't fin it anywhere)...well, I can't say I enjoyed it. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't my idea of a WW theme.
Just my two cents.

As far as I know, a couple of people somehow used a fault on the label's site or played a little with the very address. It seems like if you change a few letters you'll get one of the most anticipated scores of the year. Yes. This happens. Good for them. But it's very unlikely they are gonna share anything - the rules of forum are not allowing to pirate sh!t from a number of music labels, and the legal holders of the rights can tear this place apart. I think people just afraid to wake the dragon...
However, so far there was at least four track leaked so far (Beautiful Lie, Their War Here, Is She With You? and that Batman's Suite (which is actually a suite for all the movie with some emphasis on Batman's theme), and there was literally no reaction from Warner Bros. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised, if this score eventually will find it's way on Spotify a couple of days/week before release.
By the way, is it me, or Is She With You sounds like the exact music during Batman and Superman's fighty fight? Although, I'd prefer this scene without any music at all - for a sake of brutality and suspense...
Legolas13
02-29-2016, 11:07 AM
Yeah, I kinda figured all that out. I'm not sure what Batman theme you're refering to. I know the Batman Suite is 14 minutes. I only know of the leaked 9 minute one, which is actually Beautiful Lie combined with the sample from The Batman Suite. If anything new leaked, plase lemme know to search for it.
Also, I don't think Is She With You is the same song as in the fight, since this clip that premiered a few hours ago doesn't seem to have it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvpQENi2rAY
I think the theme has Batman and Superman elements because it evolves from Wonder Womans theme into the Trinity vs Doomsday battle teased at the end of trailer 3.

This link was a freaking exclusivity. The kind of stuff anyone with a heart would share before it's taken down.
Instead the people who found out kept their mouth shut or even worse they warned Watertower.
I can understand people would not be comfortable sharing music they bought off iTunes, because first it's illegal, and then investigation could trace back to the buyer.
But where's the danger in sharing a public URL directly taken from Watertower's official website? This link could have been shared anywhere, not necessarily here.

Not if you scrub the files with ffmpeg.
FFMPEG will copy the files and remove sensitive data.
It now removes embedded name/email that's on a binary level (meaning if you opened it in a hex editor, you won't see anything).
I would think an investigation in who clicked on the link would be easier.
The link wasn't widely distributed so that means the clicks were extremely low.

I can udnerstand peoples fears regarding sharing. Studios always afforded to look the other way and take a bite out of piracy on released products, but always proved to be ruthless when it comes to leaks ahead of schedule. The WOlverine Origins workprint, the Expendables 3 leak, the Age Of Ultron trailer, etc, all met with tracking down and punishments of the people who first shared them, unlike sharing products already released. So maybe that's why nobody shared the link when they had it.

Sorry to barge in again and I mean this with all due respect. Yes they kinda can.
Kinda.
Hear me out.
When X-Men Origins WOlverine workprint was first shared in 2009, it had more than 4.5 million downloads before the movie hit theaters. As of 2014, that number was 14 million. And when they found the original uploader, the story went kinda like this: The uploader, identified as Gilberto Sanchez, bought an unlicensed DVD of the movie from a Korean man and uploaded it under the name SkillyGilly. He did not rip it, steal it from a secure source or anything like that. he just bought it as a third party. After a few weeks, the FBI knocked on the door, since after tracking he was found to be the first internet leaker. Afetr quesitoning, months later, his computer was taken and returned. A few weeks later, he was put under arrest. The original leak had a reference to Rising Sun Pictures, a VFX company in Australia. The company denied ever leaking anything. The only person charged was the leaker who bought it from the corner.
In 2003, a NJ man who leaked a Hulk workprint was fined and put on probation after uploading. In 2009, a leaker of "The Love Guru" was charged with 6 months for piracy.
In 2014, Marvel pressured GOogle to find the name and IP of the leaker of the first Age Of Ultron trailer, whichw as leaked a few days before scheduled. His fate is yet unknown (*cue dramatic music*)
So yeah, not trying to be an ass, but when it comes to release before time, studios can use you as a scape goat and/or example, even if you just clicked on something, not necesarilly for being the original leaker.
Yes, if you just click on their website it's not against the law, and one might argue it was their fault in the first place. But it's you who first looked under their hood searching for it, so the initiate is yours as a conspirator. The rest would become the studios word against yours and nobody has the money to fight an army of lawyers.

It's out next Friday. If we're lucky, it'll show up on the Thursday. Another 10 days isn't going to kill you. Is having it early really going to make a huge difference to you? A week or so of listening to music that you're going to be able to listen to for the rest of your life. If it was seeing the movie a few weeks early I could understand the fuss, but it's just the music. Some really good music sure, but are you really going to gain anything from listening to it a week or so early apart from the satisfaction of it being "early"? It's still the same music. Or is it purely the sensation of getting it before everyone else and thus feeling "better" for a bit? I never understand the obsession of hoping stuff leaks. I'm happy if it does, but I don't lose any sleep over it if it doesn't. Besides, enjoying something with everyone else for the first time when it's officially released is a lot more fun IMO

Well that's called "impatience". And it happens when you're really, really anticipating something. You feel like you can't wait, and you'd be really happy if you could get it early, not to feel superior, but just to have to wait less time.
I can be patient, except when it comes to a Zimmer or Bergersen release. For those two I'm really counting the minutes. We all have weaknessess :-p
