For those who haven't yet heard of 'The Crime Jazz Definitive Collection' you won't go far wrong in visiting 'The Crime Lounge' site at The Crime Lounge 2 : Crime Jazz Collection (http://thecrimelounge2.blogspot.co.uk/) which hosted the collection way back.
The originator, track selector and artwork connected with the collection was a guy called 'THXjay' (who also happens to be a member of this forum.)
It is my belief that the collection, should have gained,if it hasn't already, cult status.
When I first knew of the collection and visited the site the links to this collection were dead with no forseeable future hope of any re-ups. This prompted a re-up on this forum of the collection -
http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/crime-jazz-definitive-collection-192808/#post3031495

The halt came at Vol. 17. Being the perfectionist he is THXjay quite rightly judged that to contiue in the same vain would be to the detriment of the series and always intended to return at some future date to up-date the quality of the originals and also continue with futher volumes - to progress the series in terms of better quality. I am sure he will continue to work on the series, hopefuly soon, and along with everyone else, look forward to his welcome return.

I really loved what he achieved to date, and would like to offer, whilst we all await THXjay's return, what I hope you will be prepared to accept as 'Season Two' of this collection, on the understanding that these future volumes should fall into one or more of these definitions: 'as a stop gap', or 'continued momentium' and possibly more so just as 'an appreciation' of what has gone on before.

A few notes:
This will be a work in progress, ongoing and all in MP3 320. I envisage that I probaly would stop at Vol 10, (less or more obviously dependant on forum member reaction),each volume probably arrived at on a weekly basis (although the first two volumes are already in the bag, so to speak)
For this collection, on the back covers I've given myself the handle 'a.jazzfanman'.

A final point - please do judge this 'Season Two' and compare it with what has gone on before, as at any point I get the feeling that I am doing a disservice to what 'Crime Jazz' should be, then I will hopefuly have the good sense to leave 'well alone'.

Enough 'crap' talk from me (God! don't I go on - so the missus' keeps tellin' me.)

And on with the show.........

You may have noticed that I have thanked everyone that comments (via the 'like' button).
'astrapot', I really do appreciated your comment, but had I ticked the like button it may have appeared to others that I liked the fact that the links on that site were no longer available. As I said, I do thank you for your input.

On a small note if you click on the 'Home' page button of the 'Crime Lounge' blog site you will see, on the left hand side, under the heading 'Other Recent Shares' links to other 'easy listening' - 'Lounge' sites where most of their links are current and available.
I know that's no compensation as regards the 'Crime Lounge' blog, and in no way am I trying to encourage others to migrate from this forum, but it certainly could be worth a look.

Hopefully, someday, maybe soon. 'THXjay' will not only continue with the Collection but may also consider reviving the 'Crime Lounge' as well.

PS, that Antonio Carlos Jobin track was driving me mad trying to remember where I'd heard it before, then I realised it was Bjork's "Human Behaviour"...

Remarkable observation.
Out of interest I looked up Bjork and found this:

'Bjrk moved to London to pursue a solo career; she began working with producer Nellee Hooper (who had produced Massive Attack, among others). Their partnership produced Bjrk's first international solo hit, "Human Behaviour", a clattering dance track based on a guitar rhythm sampled from Antnio Carlos Jobim. In most countries, the song was not widely played on radio but was widely seen on MTV, accompanied by an influential video by Oscar-winning film director Michel Gondry, who became a frequent collaborator for Bjrk.[46]'

Like I said, remarkable observation. Thinks for the background info. Appreciated.

Vol 9 coming soon, but while I'm waiting for the upload to mega to finish, I thought I'rd just like to give a plug to some guys that I've really enjoyed following, and in some way inspire me.

First off is the work that Cratedigga ( with some contributions from szatan67), with his
Library Music (from 60's to 70's) - Compilations and Various Albums found at
Thread 192152
This is a superb thread and the output is excellent. There seems to be a resurgence in 'Library' compilation music and this guy is right there.

Next is anonymousremains who has heaps of individual stuff out there, but what really set it off for me was the stuff he puts out in his
'British Film Music and Beyond from the 1930's onward' type thread at
Thread 189517
Do go there, you won't be disapointed, and seek out his other stuff as well.

And lastly there's rexkramer77 who's 'March Music Albums' at
Thread 194052
is just a superb complete fresh of air.
He's also got 'AUTUMN THUNDER:40 Years of NFL Films Music(2004) 10 CD set', which is a great jazz/march set of library music that's worth the visit alone, and he's also just stated another thread of
'ORGAN MUSIC (LP and CD)' at
Thread 194615
Certainly worth a visit.

Well, like I said Vol 9 of Crime Jazz coming up soon, by the end of the day, I''m sure.

You were only originally planning ten, so is that it, or do we get an encore?

Either way, much appreciated

I will probably do some more. In respect to 'THXjay' I certainly won't exceed 17 vols, (as I feel that to go further than that, would go beyond the bounds of respect to 'Crime Jazz',), but will probably stop at 15.
For now I'm doing a bit uploading hibernation as it were, where I deal with issues closer to home, (like mowing the lawn (long overdue) and other pressing things that need to be dealt with). But I certainly will return later on.
Thanks to everyone that has given their approval. It's very touching.

I've been lucky enough to come across The Crime Lounge when it was still very active and alive, and collected the series then. (His Bond soundtracks are great also) I'm very pleased to see that you've picked up where he's left off....
Thank you for the effort and thank you for making the artwork complimentary to the first series. I'm looking forward to listening to these.
Big Thanks

Just to say that all links have been re-uped to Mediafire.

And also to state that I will leave Crime Jazz: Season Two as it is with Vol. 10.
I really do believe it has served it's purpose and has now run it's course.

And a big thank to you all for your favourable comments.
Again, many thanks.

Already thanked Guideff in the 'Season One' thread, but repeating it here.

And what's more, he even gives links for more great music in other threads (post #72). Here I am, trying to get more space on my hard disk and he does this to me. Yeah, real thanks! ^_^
