Yesterday I was listening to my dowloaded copy of TLK and my ears really enjoyed that..

So I am decided to buy the TLK release, the only one near me. The only problem is that I'm pretty sure is that if I buy it there, Disney will get no money!

You can always buy it online from DisneyMusicEmporium. That way you know for sure Disney will get the money.

I am going to buy my Legacy collections from Itunes when they come out so Disney gets money and makes more of the Legacy sets sometime soon again. I am going to buy the Toy story Legacy collection and the Pocahontas Legacy set when they come out on Itunes and I am also going to buy the Disneyland Legacy collection on Itunes when it comes out. I have to wait a little bit for the Fantasia Legacy set to come out I am going to buy it from Itunes and it does not come out in Itunes until the 10th of next month but it will be worth the wait for me to buy it and have it in my Itunes for me to listen to sometime soon. Did everyone that posts in this topic know that the Legacy sets are in Itunes to buy? I am going to buy them from Itunes so Disney gets money and I hope that they do more of the Legacy sets sometime soon. I hope that Disney is fallowing this topic if they are I would like to see them do an Aladdin Legacy set and a Mulan Legacy set sometime soon I would also like to Disney do a Peter pan Legacy set sometime soon I would also like to Disney do a Legacy set for Disney worlds 50th anniversary in 2020.

Or order it from Amazon. Remember I'm not from the USA (which is a total shame, being a Disney fanclub member gives you the chance to get like 4 awesome blu rays at like 5 dollars or even 20. Not sure I can buy the discs from that site then

Oh yeah... Forgot about that.

Amazon should work too, as far as Disney receiving profit.

That reminds me, there's a new Modern Family episode.

Off-topic trivia: Although he plays gay in the show, he's not gay in real life.
In the show, he's married to Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).
Ferguson is gay in real life.

Disney topic:
I finally got around to watching Mary Poppins.
It's a good movie. Great talent in it.

But such a long movie. I dozed off a couple times waiting for it to end.
I can't imagine it being an epic today with all these young generations.

Simply adored "Stay Awake" and glad it didn't get cut from the final film.

I'm not saying that Disney shouldn't receive the profits should their products be purchased on Amazon (or anywhere else), but don't they have enough money? I mean, they now own Lucasfilm Ltd.

There's always a possibility of that happening, but I doubt it. If that were the case than I don't think we would be getting the complete scores to Monsters, Inc., Monsters University on the FYC's and a Music Only track on the A Bug's Life DVD.

My theory of it releasing closer to the anniversary of the film is what I think is happening.

Well.. let's keep my moneys warm and hot to fastly buy the set when it comes out on Intrada, the bad thing is, like I said before, their orders take a whole month. By the time the discs comes to my place, I'd already have the FLAC.

Ugh, I do not like the exclusives things. Makes me harder to buy 'em. But eh.. it seems the collection isn't selling bad, and that's a good thing.

And it also feels a little strange, this thing with earlier releases on Intrada and so on. Will they be exactly the same, the same kind of package that we have so far in the series...and so on?
To my knowledge, Intrada has never released such a thing (a book and CD) before, so Im a little worried....

*No Album Art At The Moment*

On February 15 1950, the Walt Disney Company released Cinderella. Walt Disney Records will celebrate its anniversary by releasing the Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection: Cinderella; a charming album that every music collector will enjoy.
A 2-disc set including the original restored soundtrack, 7 lost chords recordings and 9 bonus tracks.
Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection: Cinderella is part of the overall Legacy collection line. Each one of the albums in this line is meant to be a collector's piece in terms of the album content and packaging art. To achieve the latter, each album will feature newly created artwork from Lorelay Bove, a visual development artist at Walt Disney Animation.

Well, we haven't had any of the newer films yet beyond TLK, have we? From what it looks like a lot of the original score masters for these films have disappeared.

Or they believe the remasters done are the definitive version, and retouching them again for a collection that is meant to be exclusive it's not a big deal. So far only THE LION KING has bought something new, and that is the orchestral score as recorded. The rest, except the Main Theme originally included in Mary Poppins, reissues.

You're forgetting the additional score tracks for The Little Mermaid and the 1982 re-recordings for Fantasia which never had a soundtrack release. The rest, I'll admit, are pretty lame.

What would of been lovely and would of made the collection even more better would of been releases of the movies that haven't got their soundtrack yet, like, Robin Hood or The FOx and the Hound.

Amen to that!!

The little I know of Randy Thornton, I know he's raging to release it, but the thing it seems to avoid it it's that they think it's not gonna sell. They could, then release it digitally, for starters, at least to finally give us what we want in one way.

Talking about the Legacy Collection, I hope someone will upload the Lady and the Tramp one in here! :) I can't wait to know if the demo of Free as the Breeze is the one in the Diamond Edition or not.

Also, I believe some old Storytell narrated versions or whatever LP oldies of the Legacy Collection movies would of been a great add on for collectors.. and would bring oldies that want to reunite with their memories.. some are, also, very good. They are sadly obviously never gonna release 'em, not even digitally.

I have the two old L&tT vinyls in digital format. I ripped them a couple years ago, but I've no idea what the quality was. I was ignorant back then.

Interested in an upload?

Maybe indeed...

Just had a quick check - I never got round to ripping the long playing record, but I ripped the small one in 128k. It's got a 5-minute story on Side A and two songs on Side B (Belle Note and the Siamese Cat Song).

The only things missing from the cover LP of Lady & The Tramp are 'Lady' and 'Home Sweet Home' which are the same as on the original soundtrack. It's only the actual songs which were re-recorded by Robbie Lester (Siamese Cat Song), Terri York (He's A Tramp, La La Lu, Peace On Earth, What Is A Baby) and Bob Grabeau (Bella Notte) that are different

Whoever criticised the Legacy Collection cover paintings, you need to brush up on your Disney history. They are a beautiful tribute to Mary Blair and pretty much the classiest artwork produced for any Disney merchandise for years and years.

antoniopervoi

You may also be right, but in these books there are no quote about the art of Mary Blair. So this assumption is only your personal thoughts. As if I said that everytime I see bells in various churches, it means many tributes to the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Those covers describe an ugly and horrible mode to represent the content inside, my personal opinion. It's art, surely, but you can like it or not. Some storyboards work were much pretty and lovable.

And... ... ... ... If you brush really really your Disney history, you could admit that all these editions are incomplete with material, except Fantasia. Legacy.................. a wrong word for a wrong idea.

Erm, no, they are very obviously an homage to the very well-known and very well-loved Disney concept art of Mary Blair.

Also, these have never been promoted as 100% complete, definitive sound archives. They are deluxe versions of the albums intended for fans, but they're still albums. At some point sanity, budget, clearance issues or simply editorial judgement must step in. I cannot believe that people are complaining about these things - the alternative is them not existing at all. And you're probably going to get your way soon anyway.

I repeat, in booklets, in these collection booklets isn't mentioned the homage to Mary Blair, it is your supposition, I thought so far.

Yes, personally I complain about this major, and "What a Major!" I complain about the second disc of Pinocchio with only a duration of 15 minutes, and with wrong songs about Mickey Mouse club... perverted minds.

After many years, Disney knows perfectly how soundtracks and other things are for fans and expecially for music lovers, and you talk to me about clearance issues, come on, oh come on...

Second discs:

Lady and the tramp: 24 minutes
Pinocchio: 15 minutes
Sleeping beauty: 31 minutes

Let's tell the truth, the real truth, the Legacy collection is a perfect way to speculate on sales and gains, with most of the material super recycled, nothing more. In future, not so far, they will adopt only the digital download option, just because the own fault for past political decisions money management.

A good job or a perfect job is always rewarded, sooner or later. This collection is a total failure, and people with a minimum of coherence, they got it right.

We're mostly complaining about the Legacy Collections for the older films, yet the Legacy Collections for more recent films (Lion King, Little Mermaid) have had significantly more material than their previous official releases. I wouldn't be surprised if this is because Disney has more stuff for the newer films/more stuff that's suitable for an album release. I expect Pocahontas and Toy Story (whenever it materialises) will have significantly more material. It'll be interesting to see if Pocahontas includes "If I Never Knew You" and both versions of "Savages" for example as well as more of Alan Menken's score.

I'm going to guess there was probably some problem with it (perhaps trouble negotiating with Randy Newman for unreleased material?). Either that or Disney quietly cancelled it.

If we get another wave in 2016/17, there's quite a few films there that are quite deserving of a Legacy Collection. Although I think some are more likely than others. If the line up has 12 releases like the current wave, at a guess the line up will be, in no particular order:

Beauty and the Beast
The Jungle Book
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Alice in Wonderland
Bambi
Hercules
Monsters Inc
Tron
The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
101 Dalmatians
Aladdin

Of course I'm probably totally wrong/just have wishful thinking here XD

Keep in mind the films that get a Legacy release are having a milestone anniversary. So if the films isn't having a anniversary ending in a 0 or 5, and wasnt critically well reviewed, it probably won't get a legacy release....

pottyaboutpotter1
06-01-2015, 12:21 AM
Yep took that into account. And all of those are celebrating anniversaries ending in 5 or 0, assuming the releases are spaced out over 2016 and 2017. I can also imagine all the Disney Princess films will get Legacy Collections if the line continues. Especially as the 2014/15 line had 4 Disney Princess films receiving Legacy Collections (Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Pocahontas)

2016:
Beauty and the Beast (25th Anniversary) One of Disney's most popular and successful movies ever. Guaranteed a Legacy Release if there's another wave. Also there's that live action remake in 2017. 25 years is also an important milestone. Also a Disney princess film.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (20th Anniversary) While it wasn't a huge success, the film is still vaguely popular. And if Pocahontas can get a Legacy release...
Alice in Wonderland (65th Anniversary) Like Beauty and the Beast, this film is guaranteed a Legacy Release at some point if the line continues due to the film's popularity. And the sequel to the 2010 film is also released in 2016 (coinciding with the anniversary)
Monsters Inc (15th anniversary) Popular Pixar film, one of Disney's more successful franchises. Probably the most successful Pixar franchise after Toy Story and Cars.

2017:
The Jungle Book (50th Anniversary) 50th Anniversary is a big one for one of their classics. Guaranteed a Legacy release if the line continues.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (80th Anniversary) Again, guaranteed. Also a Disney princess film.
Bambi (75th Anniversary) Walt's personal favourite, is a very strong contender. 75 years is also an important milestone.
Hercules (20th Anniversary) Yeah it's not that popular so it might not happen, but it's a strong contender.
Tron (35th Anniversary) It's a cult classic, ultimately depends on if Disney wants to push the Tron brand or not. Depends on the ambiguous fate of Tron 3 I suppose.
The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh (40th Anniversary) Winnie the Pooh is one of Disney's more successful brands with several movies and TV shows to it's name. Plus Pooh is still a figure seen in Disney stores and theme parks.
101 Dalmatians (55th Anniversary) Another iconic and popular film. May not happen, but it's very likely.
Aladdin (25th Anniversary) With the film getting it's diamond edition this year, I can imagine Disney will want this released. Also a Disney Princess film.

Im going off the original handwritten sheets, before they were finalized with the final picture edit of the film. So there are a couple that might be swapped and a couple that were unused. Like "3m1-3m2 School Play / I Say We Go" I certainly dont remember that in the film. :P

Ohh.....that's nothing. The better one is when he's discussing all 7 of a woman's erogenous zones with Monica and Rachel. It's one of my favorite moments of the entire series.

"Seven! Seven! Seven! Seven! Seven! Seven! Seven! *whispers* seven!"

James P.Sullivan

Well, the pace of the releases, the moment it took so long to get information of them. It doesn't seem like they're selling too much. I just don't see Disney doing a second wave.. I wish I was wrong!

I hope you are wrong. :p

JUST IMAGINE... a Legacy Collection for all the Pixar films... the complete scores to all the Pixar films... official releases of the complete scores to all Pixar's films...

pottyaboutpotter1
06-22-2015, 12:16 PM
I imagine a second wave depends on the last few releases. I expect Disney is waiting and seeing how successful the first wave was overall before embarking on a second. I'm honestly thinking Disney will only focus on popular movies (IE we can only expect Legacy Collections for Disney princess/renaissance/memorable classics/Pixar movies) if the line continues so I expect Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast are definite if there's another wave.

James (The Disney Guy)
06-22-2015, 04:14 PM
I to would love to see the second wave. Or the unreleased films.

Slaudos Amigos
The Three Caballeros
Make Mine Music
Fun And Fancy Free
Melody Time.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad
The Sword in the Stone
ROBIN HOOD!!!!!
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers

I've always had the same feeling ever since the delays for exclusives. And it doesn't seems like they're selling that much because Disney doesn't seem to marketize them much.. If Disney listen to fans.. they'd know we want a second wave.. come on.. we deserve more complete scores.. and we deserve LEGACY COLLECTION of those who aren't released yet
And Yet I Agree, But Have to Avoid Getting All Excited About A Second Wave. It Ain't Gonna Happen (I Want to Be Proven Wrong) There Are So Many I Would Love to See Get A Legacy Collection (Or General Release) Even If Just 1Disc.

You are making me excited!! Something definitely worthy of a wait! This is THE soundtrack for me this year (after The Sound Of Music failed me)!! I have a little question: can I email this to a friend of mine? She also loves the film, and, to share with you something - it was because I played "Colours of the Wind" for her on the piano that we bonded. Anyways - got a little carried away there. But, I wonder, can I share this track list with her? Tell me yes or no. :) Thanks very much! :) And really look forward to this release!!

No, I'm sorry to say this, but it's true. I admit, though I was born in 1996, and I believe I fit the age for films like this, yet I've never seen this one, not yet. I would criticize and say "get the bluray", but the movie animation is not that detailed that you won't really see a difference.

I remember when Pocahontas came out in the theaters - it had the misfortune of coming out after Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Though the music was fantastic - and I think the reviews were strong - it just didn't pull people in like the movies did previous. I read an online article once about life at the Animation studio post B&TB - the studio did not expect the movie to become the enormous success that it was - and the fact that it was the first animated movie nominated for a best picture (this was before the academy had a "Best Animated Feature" category) - that knocked everyone out.

The article pointed to Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame as being 'retooled' to try and go after the brass ring. Pocahontas was stripped of whimsy (there was supposed to be a comic relief turkey that followed her around) and Hunchback was made darker (the addition of the 'Hellfire" song). A few years after B&TB, the academy added Best Animated Feature - great for Disney, but it also ended any possibility of an animated film winning the top prize. Animated features are now exempt from consideration.

I'll see if I can find the article and post a link.

Jim Hill, I think that's who wrote the article! I'll see if I can track it down.

This is some interesting information. It seems BTB was, and is still, the work that revolutionized the animated film. And, to me, it was the first feature-length film in English I heard without the help of a Chinese dub, and I found I'm hooked to the music and the story. This film symbolized a new era for Disney, and its effects are still evident. Personally speaking, I like to compare Frozen (2013) to this film. But that's going off topic here.

I'm honestly hoping they do more.... I have no clue what id do if they stopped doing these masterpieces.

Now, all i need to add to these are my personal favorites:
- Aladdin
- Beauty and The Beast
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame(Believe me, if i saw this on the list, i'd probably shit myself in joy).
and many others.

This is the CLOSEST I'll ever get at being happy with an official complete Menken and Schwartz score.

I'm apparently stuck.... but, since i have all week off, i have time to conjure up some stuff. :)

I also just realized... even though this didn't get quite a legacy as other disney movies did, "A Goofy Movie" would've been a surprise.

I just realised it's Enchanted's 10th Anniversary in 2017. A Legacy Collection for that would be *o*

For simplicity I'll focus on films that are known, not obscure ones. Films likely to get a legacy release I've marked in bold.

The Reluctant Dragon
Dumbo
Make Mine Music
Song of the South
Alice in Wonderland
101 Dalmations
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
The Fox and the Hound
The Great Mouse Detective
Beauty and the Beast
Muppet Treasure Island
James and the Giant Peach
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
101 Dalmations (Live Action)
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Monsters Inc
The Wild
Cars
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Mars Needs Moms
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Cars 2
Winnie The Pooh
The Muppets

24 anniversaries

Could be a good line up for next year if Disney continues the line.

Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland are pretty much guaranteed a Legacy release if the line continues (due to being two of Disney's most popular movies ever). I do hope Hunchback gets one too.

What? My mind is slightly turned to the minor key on that one, though I still hope that it's a rumor. But I think it's just meer imagination here.

Yeah, at least, for the time being. That's what we all hope - another wave. But I think the reason behind all this is the 60th anniversary of Disneyland.

No the reason was to try to sell more complete/epanded releases of disney hits on anniversaries but it clearly failed l. Either not enough were sold or they could'nt get the standard they wanyed hence why the collection went messed up half way through.

Since i found out that the paint used was "gouache" paint, it'll be easier to download a set and make them. :D

Wait a minute.... Whoever said August 7th, I just updated the page and it looks like i was right.

This is the biggest reason I want the complete score: There are so many amazing cues missing so far, but this one (https://youtu.be/xh-9EONVs7w?t=1h3m3s) is by far the most beautiful. I mean, just listen to those harmonies and that spine-tingling trumpet solo. Gives me chills every time. When the trumpet starts, I tear-up.

Oh, and that video is sped up. It's a little too fast and a little to high in pitch. But it was the best I could find. :p
