I just noticed something in the first picture of Sephiroth.. if you look closely at his face there is a dark line running across it. Could this somehow be a wound inflicted by Cloud from the end of the game, or just a dark strand of hair crossing his face? Chances are it's the former, though I do remember Cloud landing a fatal blow and giving Sephiroth a scar at the end. I haven't played in a while, so maybe I should go do that and make sure. All I can recall clearly is a shocked Sephiroth, and a splatter of blood.

i dont think that they've seen the actual movie cuz it's not out yet. they've probably seen the film festival premiers. those tend to run like 45 mins. Almost the movie but not quite.

it's actually its not as short as you might think. It's supposed to be 90 minutes long atleast. they added some footage. however, I see your point. Square-Enix is no doubt using a corporate strategy. It's so evil. Even though you realize it, it doesn't matter because they've already got you hooked. We can only hope that they're delaying the movie to refine it into something more enjoyable, as was the case with all the delays of Halo 2's release (although that is open to some deliberation, but not on this site). I suppose the delays of FFXII might be a better comparison, though the end result has yet to be seen. Oh well, in any case, I wouldn't be too suprised if we saw yet another delay while new information continued to slow. That's another thing I've noticed. Lately, new info on the movie has been slowing to a crawl. I suppose there really isn't too much that can be revealed without spoiling it, but still, some screens of Seph or anyone would be nice.

They cancel the damn movie outside Japan after it's gained so much momentum around the world, and dangling strings of information at us like dogs for so long, pissing off the majority of their fans. It's so stupid, it has to be a hoax, or a retard is working in marketing over there. Now, it may be genius, because they know that we will be pissed, and demand that the movie release over here. In doing this, the movie fanbase will grow ravenous for the movie, and perhaps in size as well as it attracts more and more attention. I'd almost like the latter to be true (except for deceiving us all), but it seems as though the former is the grim reality. Well, fuck Square-Enix. UMD= Universal Media Disk. It's a format that can have pretty much any kind of data on it (other than conventional CDs and DVDs). Movies, games, music, documents, whatever?

I knew it had to be a hoax of some kind. When you think about it, the lost profits are unjustifiable. Millions of gamers/ anime fans waiting for this movie to come out, many willing to shell out $20-$30 apeice (the others just stealing it off the internet)? Square-Enix would have to be blind not to see that they would make millions off the movie. Not to mention that at this point, they simply OWE it to the fans to release it.

Rufus is with the Turks. The clones:Kadaj, Yazoo, Loz, were working with him and the Turks. Sephiroth is ordering around the Turks, and Rufus is making the clones do all his work, too. They also want to make it look like he is Sephy, then surprise you.

Japanese is an easy language. The hardest part is the kanji, and even that's not so bad. If you can remeber stuff like materia, Pokemon, what moves you have for each characters and so forth, memorizing the stroke orders for even complex kanji shouldn't be too hard. 'course..I'm only using hiragana on my sig. Oh well.

They do keep calling jenova's head "okaasan", or mom, but it is in the same respect that Sephiroth called Jenova his mother. I suspect that Sephiroth used jenova's head as a vessel somehow, then regenerated (as you can see he returns in the new trailer) after manipulating the three into doing some dastardly deed.


I'm in Spanish class, and im having difficulties. Japanese has got to be way harder.

So many people think that Japanese is soooo hard, but beleive me, it isn't. The toughest part is the Kanji (which there are about 40,000 of), but even many japanese people barely know enough kanji to read a newspaper, which is around 2,000, and there are a lot of really simple ones. The katakana, hiragana, and sentence structure are really not dificult. Now, Chinese is hard, but I'm not even going there.
Anyway. Japanese is not very hard. It only takes as much memorization as any other language, like Spanish, but after speaking it for a while, you'll begin to flip between languages.

Probably cause if they were going to make the English words make the mouths it would take a lot longer to come out after the Japanese release. Yeah they call Jenova mom like Sephiroth use to. Sephiroth and them are suppose to be brothers.

Dubbing really doesn't take that long; a few weeks at most.

Subtitles are really not that bad once you get used to them.

I watched one of the trailers and i think Cloud's japanese voice is sexy!

Japanese male voices are really deep and sounds mysterious in a way..(Vincent) and female Jap voices are the higher, girly voice types. There is always a girly man..(KADAJ)..who ahs a wierd voice..

acctually when you constantly watch fansubs you get to the point where you don't even realize that you're reading. It's kinda cool.

Dubbing can be good as long as they get someone good to do it cuz there are some dubbed movies and shows out there that look like they were originally done in english.

i just hope that they will find a voice actors that fits with the characters. I've notice that some movies/anime that were dubbed has really poor voice actors. one good example are the dubbing in dragon ball z.. Son Gokou sounded like (no offense to the third sex) gay....?..

anyway if that would happend... i would rather watch it with subtitles.. at least, the characters have there original voice.

Goku souded more like a fruit-cake than a homo to me (no sexist intentions there). But yeah the dubbin for dbz was good but the americanization of it in general sucked... half the script was changed to suit the censors... not to mention the graphics... but then Im talking about every anime that hits american tv aren't I?

You obviously have no experience with CG animation. If you do, you obviously don't know how to do a quality job. True, they could go cheap on us and not re-sinc the mouths, but I'm not working on that assumption. To get the job done right, they'd need to record the voice actors first (cartoons can have the animation done first, but they aren't hyper-realistic, now are they?), and that alone can take a few weeks. Now imagine having to animate the lip movements of the characters with painstaking precision, and the time it takes for the characters to speak in the new language could lengthen or shorten a shot, depending on what is being said, then having to re-render the shot. A good, quality job like that could take a few months, but I'd being willing to wait for that. Although, I doubt they'll change it because there are a lot of people (like me) who will want to watch it in Japanese, and then the lip movements for that would be way off.......
Perhaps it will just be subtitled around the world? I dunno, I liked the FF7 cast in KH...

I watched Ghost In the Shell with subtitles, it wasnt so bad...

well...you are both right and you are both wrong... I'm in school for cg animation right now and there is a bit more to it in some aspects than what you say and a bit less in others... for instance take the rerendering... It isn't all that hard depending on what engine your runnin off of. If it is high dollar (which I assume square-enix's is) it has the ability to remap the renderings for the languages. However, the lips aren't the only things being rerendered. The entire facial expressions must be redone and the body motions too, all so that they time up w/ the vocals. The engine takes care of most of this for you but mainly on a minute scale, leaving the drastic changes you might want done up to you, which is what takes a couple months. It doesn't seem like much but w/out the engine doing the little things for you it wouldn't take months but years because you would need to pretty much remap the entire movie... not fun... and as far as the voice actors for the dubbing, well, you can't do all the work on the computer, the actors gotta do something, kinda try to meet the artist half-way. So in a way you're both right... :-D

That...is a very sore subject. He was the exception. The fact that they let him voice Sephiroth still enrages me to this day. Still, he is the coolest boss if you turn off the volume.

nah..the things that pissed me off with KH, voice-wise was that a, they didn't get the DISNEY characters voices right, and not ONCE did we hear Sora say 'I see dead people' in that god-awful whispered voice!!

btw... i didn't pay much attention to the dubs in KH. I just kept going hoping I'd get to meet Mickey. (sry I have a one track mind). And then my 3 day rental ran up and I had to take the game back and only made it to the battle just after Maleficent. All and all it was a decent game but too easy to figure out (gameplay-wise; the story was a bit wierd).

what I was trying to say was that they atleast try to do it in most culture-2-culture cg's. Whether they are successful or not is allways up to debate. Look at Ice age for instance... well, I was gonna say monsters inc but they don't have much as far as mouths so that doesn't count. But Ice Age is still a really good example...
