wow, lots of angry people out there, I beleave they will release a new game just as some have wanted, I sure want them to. yes a remake of ff7 would be great, though I am not saying they will. I beleave the movie will make lots of sales just for the pure fact it is final fantasy 7 related, but think about this what about the people whom are not fans, if there is enough eye candy for everyone people whom arn't fans will rush out to see it as well as the fans, it will bring in sales, as for final fantasy not making any more games for any consule why? thats basicly a major part of there profits, they have ff online going right now better known as ff11 and that seems to be going strong. but for those whom don't want to pay a fee to play a game they will lose money.

A little fun theory here.

See how at the beginning of the trailer....you see all this planet energy gathering on Midgar? We could assume it is what makes this children..obviously. I want to support the idea that they are clones by stating that Hojo had many clones unfinished...and maybe, just maybe... This clones get this energy.

Ok, Limit_Break...we already know that... whats the point?
So, Sephiroth, in the game.. wanted to crash meteor to the planet, wound it so badly so that it needs the energy to heal itself, dead human energy is a vital component of this energy so by killing these people and also wounding the planet with the same meteor it was a win-win. Awesome. But it didnt go well. That blonde haired imbecil got in the way and with the help of holy and bla bla bla they "kill" Sephiroth....

What if Sephiroth dying wasn't the end? When you die..you FUSE with the planet. Well folks, Sephiroth is human...regardless of genetically enchanced or not...he has to fuse like others. What if his hatred combined with the effects of black materia bring forth the energy to Midgar infusing the clones with his personality? That could explain how they suddenly know who to attack... Well I think it is pretty possible to have this little brats be sephiroth's clones physically but SEPHIROTH HIMSELF SPIRUTALLLY/MENTALLY.
Now I know it sounds like I took a lot of peyote..but thats how FF's go. Also, the "main" child uses a kind of Japanese Sword..sort of a Naginata...The masamune looks A LOT like it. Could it be THE masamune? Badass if it was. The star scar disease could also be a side effect of sephiroth fusing with the planet or the planet getting rid of people thanks to Sephiroth fusing with its core energy.

Finally, the "church" Cloud walks in the trailer...could that be the church where he and Aeris meet for the first time. I don't remember, but look yourself and tell me if it is a possibility.

Well, yes, that's basically what I said. I really hope they create an updated version, but even if they don't, then they will still release the movie with a port of the original. Why? Well....


1) How do you think they'll release the movie? The cost of producing the movie will by far outweigh the money that sales would reel in if the movie was released alone. Heck, the last Final Fantasy movie made over 100 million dollars, but it was still the biggest financial disaster in video game movies ever. They'd release the dvd alone, and it would be gobbled up by Final Fantasy fans like you and me, but it would still fall short of the production cost. now, if they just sold it with a game, they could make an extra $20 per unit sold

2) Well, of course they wouldn't have the data from the original if they were creating a remake. The graphics and gameplay from the original, and the graphics and gameplay that can be implemented now are quantum leaps in between. Any technical data from the original would be completely useless for a new game.

Yes, I know it seems like skewered logic, but these points cover two different situations. The first if it's just a port, the second if they are crafting a remake. But... neither of us will know until it comes out, so it doesn't matter what we say because we could both be wrong, although I'm sure at least one of us is right...

I know what you are saying but seriously they wouldn't make as much money with a remake as they would with a new FF. The reason is because not everyone likes FF7, but a new FF would attract a wider audience and so make more money. Also there have been now trailers of the updated versions or anouncements that they would make it. ^_^

Cloud, please remember that AC is BASED on a videogame, so if you tell me I play too MANY videogames, then it is a compliment, that means I know what I am talking about.

Anyways, to my point: I do not think releasing the movie on theatres in the U.S. would be very wise, since videogames only attract a select number of people, now, Spirits Within was released and many people went to watch it, yet it was a total disaster. Non-fans would hesitate to watch a sequel that: a) they know nothing about and b) The small FF they tasted was sour(That being the CG movie, Spirits Within)

On Japan, it is a whole different story, fanatism, specially on Final Fantasy is immense and people WOULD buy the game just to know what this huge thing is all about. All I can really say, is that Square-Enix has a marketing department and they have studied this possibilities far more than ANY of us, therefore their decision will probably be the best. What that decision is, we can only assume...

I agree with limit_break here that they will not and should not bring out AC on the big screen seeing as it would not make as much profit or attract enough of a audience. I play FF all day and there is nothing wrong with me.

And I disagree. I think they should release it in theaters. With all the comic movies that have come out (which is not exactly the same thing but close enough) that where pretty good, I think it has opened the prospective audience alittle wider. I dont think it would be a box office smash or anything but there are more fans out there than you give credit. Plus even though Final Fantasy: Spirts Within was a not so hot movie, with all the advancements in Computer graphics and not to mention a WAY BETTER story line, with the right publicity it could make Square-enix more money than you realize.

And no, graphics have actually not picked up so much since The spirits within. Also FFAC would only attract FF fans. So let me put it this way:

1 FF fan goes to the cinema to watch FFAC, they pay �3.50
1 FF fan buys it out on DVD and pay �20.00

But if they watch FFAC at the cinema when it come out on DVD most of them will not want to buy it because they have already seen it. And if the movie flops they see it at the cinema but won't like it but if they bring it out on DVD people have to pay the full �20 even if they don't like it.

Also there is no point in dreaming that they will bring out in the cinemas seeing as it is an Interactive movie so you choose what happens, and that wouldn't work at a cinema.

It would attract not only final fantasy fans but sci fi fans, animation fans, comic fans, and many others. Just because one isn't a final fantasy fan doesn't mean that they wouldn't be interested. Now if they only released it on DVD then yes they would only be aiming at the final fantasy fan market because they would be the only ones who knew anything about it. I am not saying witch way it will go, I'm just saying.

I'm on Yunie side. FF7AC can be on theaters and might make a lot of money. If the movie have a commercial that goes on tv and look very interesting, then even normal ppl that don't play FF7 might just go watch the movie in theaters.it depends on how the movie is like to the audience. Even as a final fantasy fan I would not be intested in advent children if it came out as an interactive movie. I would be simple to base the game on the events in the movie but not exactly the same. Or why even make a game. They already have ff7 way make a second part thi far down the road???

I don't know where I got the Interative movie update from, but it might have been from the official Advent childeren site. Also an interactive movie might not mean different endings, it might just alter the order in which things occur.

Well, gin, that would be very interesting. If Seph "helps" Cloud then that would mean the story has very, very shocking events. Like i said, you can't perfectly fit a full sequel of a 40 hour game(aprox) into a one hour movie, so we can expect all sorts of surprises in there.

As for the Aeris thing you mention: It is a girl for sure...unless there's a nother character beside Vincent and Tifa with long hair :P

Oh yeah, guys, did you notice how the Fenrir Motorcycle opens to reveal buster/somekind of swords? They have some whacky dopey ideas at Square-Enix....Im not the only one see;)

I'm kinda with limit break on this one. I think it would make a more dramatic plot if the children were against everyone. But it not like they are gonna kill off abunch of children...even if it is a CG movie. Ok, a confirmation I got here. You guys were discussing if that was Cloud sinking Aeris or perhaps a new person... It IS Aeris. Why you say? Look at Cloud's attire... oh yeah, t is his clothing on the game. The turtle neck, the shoulder pad... it IS a flashback unless he changes clothes in the movie, which is unlikely. Also to the right there is this Shell-like structure, like a Nautilus, which were abundant where Aeris died. Just some picture vieweing.

I have this scan which you all probably have seen, but I hope you enjoy it for those who haven't. Note how theres a DVD sign to the left, that means IT IS COMING OUT ON DVD PROBABLY. booyah! Gotcha all on that one suckers!...just kidding.

Also, the children do not look like little youngsters, one of them is huge, the main one looks small and slender but that doesn't mean he is a boy and the third one, with long hair is a man as well, he is Cloud's size. The fact that they are CHILDREN doesnt mean they are youngsters.

my wole theory on the matter is that sephiroth is the guy in the wheelchair, the children have jenova's head (witch i can't place what than means story wise), *as a side note in the interview for the movie the guy said they woke up somthing that was sleeping(i think sephiroth)* and acording to the real sephiroth witch is 10 divine crystals to make up the being of ultimate evil power (or somthing like that) what if the children are the ten crystals and each time one gets killed sephiroth gets stronger and at the end seph kills the 1 with the katana and he gets up and wants to get vengence on cloud. its just a guess but mabey...... that was still sweet when we saw the sephiroth's flash back.:D

One question, though. Where does the word "children" come in? They are children of some kind, something.

What is reaaaally bugging my mind with curiosity is when they mention the life stream in the trailer. I am very excited and impatient to know what role this will play in the movie.

One thing that I do not want to happen and mark my words is showing up some familiar characters like barret, vincent, tifa, yuffie, etc, etc. And not taking them too much into consideration inside the story. Like--They could show them up to hype the people up a bit and they never fight or anything of the sort. That'd suck.

I truley dont know how the children fit in. We will see sooner or later.


I hope to that they dont show the others with some kinda alternative motive(ie hype without the hype). I really like the others and wouldn't want to see a just cloud movie.

I think that picture of Barret is a memory of the past, because he's sporting the mechanical arm. He had that arm before he got his gun drafted on.

Yeah, that's an interesting theory. One of my teories, when I saw a picture of Aerith(I say Aerith because in my opinion it sounds more feminine than Aeris), people think she's getting resurected, but I beleive it's either a memory, or it's the Holy Aerith when she's in Heaven. That would be awsome though if she got resurected though!

I bet it is Aeris in the wheelchair...Her body is still intact after what happened to her and she appaired at the end of the game(her face). I bet the whole plot of the movie is that sephorith suceeded with his plan to become a god because the world in the screenshots look like it is a wasteland and sephorith probly came out with holy and merged with the stream and the hole plot is probly cloud is trying to kill sephorith once and for all. Actually, in the japanese version of FF7(which i've heard in other places, my be just a big rumor), you can go back to the water later in the game when you let her go and use a phoenix down and she'd come back to life.

They took it out in the US version, but that's why there was the huge rumor is because it was possible in the japanese and they didn't understand why you couldn't do it in the american.

Oh, my idea on the wheelchair guy, it is sephiroth. Notice when the clone guy touches his hand, there is the flashback to sephiroth in the village(in the first trailer). Okay, at the end of 7, if i recall correctly, you never actually see sephiroth die, he gets pulled into the life stream at the end. Okay, remember back on disc 2 of FF7, cloud fell into the life stream, and what a coincidence, when he came out, he was in a wheelchair for a while. So, it's very likely that he is sephiroth... I don't know where the clone guy comes along or anything, but the title 'advent children' does seem like it'll be really symbolic.

ok, here are my "theories"...

first off, UBCS-001 is probably totaly right about sephy in the flames... but the rest, i dont think so...

in an artical, it says the sephy looking person (with medium length hair) is a teenager... then their are two others that look the same, but with different hairstyles... they are in their 20's... now, i think that the person in the wheelchair might be sephy. someone mentioned this already, but they thought he may be like that because he fell into the lifestream (when cloud fell in, he ended up in a wheelchair too!), but as we all know, sephy has gone through the lifestream before, survived, and and "stuck" in the mako crystaline, however, we know he was perfectly fine, because while he was in there, he was projecting his body elsewhere, and controling it. we know he is extremely powerful, and falling into the lifestream wouldnt have hurt him.

but we also know at the end of the game, after we think sephy is finished , he projects himself into clouds mind, and cloud battles him (in his mind) and hurts sephy extremely badly.. perhaps what happens to his phsych form also happens to him? maybe thisis why sephy would be in a wheelchair?

but then many people will say "why didnt holy kill sephy? he was obivously a HUGE threat to the planet!"... well, holy arrived after the multiple battles between sephy and the gang... perhaps holy saw the people who wer injured that badly as no longer being a threat (maybe this is why the others survived it too?).

... so any, back to the subject... who is the "new villian"... i am thinking hte three (or at least the one with medium length hair, the mos tpopular so far) are either sephy clones, another sephy projection, or something similiar. i put together a small animation, morhping the two facial images togehter (the one of sephy, and the mystery man), and guess what, same facial features! you can see my animation (not ethat it is hard to compare exactly since the angles are totaly different, as is the facial expression, but you can see both noses have a slighty crooked ((drooping a bit to the left) look, nose the same, chine the same, nnot to mentin hair...) so although they arent exactly alike... maybe he is a clone??? here: http://www.geocities.com/carys_young/ac.html

now onto where the story is taking place.... i am really sorry if this has been said before, but i am new here, and could go throught all the previous pages :/ anyway... in an interview with the character designer, sorry, cant remember the name (the interview is on ffshrine.org though), he is asked "where will AC be taking place?", he responds by saying "it is hidden in the logo"...

so... in the logo, there is the greenish/blue meteor (same as always)... the inside the meteor, there is another cirlce, a yellow one, and it is divided into sections (like a pie)... it is clearly midgar! this would also make sense since we see cloud in aeris's church. here is the logo, and another version where i outlined "midgar"

ok, on another subject... i have a question... when cloud is talking to bugenhagen, Bugen tell him that "when a soul seeking holy returns to the lifestream, holy will come"... but sephy's reason for killing aeris was to prevent her from summoning holy?!?!?! it doesnt make sense! how exactly is holy summoned? becuase i take it that bugenhagen was correct, since holy came AFTER aeirs died... so it doesnt make sense that sephy would kill her to prevent holy from coming O.o!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hmmmm... OMG i have a theory ^_^

what if sephy KNEW this, and WANTED holy summoned? he knew it would target humans.... and that way, humans would be out of the way, meteor would still hit (holy wouldn�t see meteor as a threat� we know meteor has stuck the planet once, and the planet simply healed itself, it could do it again� we also know that with humans and shinra using mako energy, the planet will soon die, which would be why holy chose to target humans rather than meteor!), and he could continue on with his plans without the hassle of people! what do you guys think?

Ok, even though I highly doubt this rumor is true, people keep talking about a remake of Final Fantasy VII. People state that the remake would come out on the day Advent Children is released. The remake would have new weapons, new monsters, and more storyline to it. I really don't think this is true, but if anyone knows anything about it, I'd like to know.

Sorry, i think this is more about the end of ff7 more than anything, but i guess it all ties in.....

Actually, over the past week, i've been playing ff7 again, go figure. and It really makes me think. In clouds flashback to nibelheim or whatever, when sephy goes downstairs in the mansion, it explains how jenova was an ancient(cetra) and how sephiroth was created from her. And it also tells about how people from the cetra stopped and started building times, and eventually the cetra died from a meteor or something and the other people survived because they hid.

Anyway, before I get off track, it shows right there that Sephiroth is an ancient(Cetra), and it also shows his hatred for all the people who hid (everyone besides the Cetra's).

Anyway, the magic holy was supposed to get rid of the threats and everything of the world, Holy was created by the Ancients, and that's why everyone thought only Aeris could make it work. But, what if any Ancient with power could make it work, ie. Sephiroth. Maybe he got rid of Aeris knowing that her power would be the only one who could stand up to his, for if he'd eliminate her, he'd know he'd be the only ancient left, meaning he would be the only one who could weild Holy.

So, maybe when Holy was activated, it was attacking the humans because it knew they killed off the Ancients, or it could have just been attacking everyone Sephiroth wanted it to.

it's not sephiroth changing into anything... sephiroth's body was dead, and he needed the meteor to hit before he could absorb the whole lifestream... his willpower was so strong he could create a mental projection (much like being plugged into the matrix) and use it to actually kill the others (your mind makes it real!)

When I replyed talking about the "re-make" of FFVII, I really didn't expect anyone to know... but I'm wrong! Thank God, I have a totally different person (actually two persons) telling me there is supposed to be a "form" of FFVII being launched when Advent Children is launched.

Nice... very nice... I'm playing FFVII as we speak after a few years break. I beat it years ago and there is nothing like coming back and starting a new file. I'm right outside the Temple of the Ancients training before I enter. I'n level 40 with Cloud, Aeris is level 39 (it doesn't matter what level she is, even though she's awesome), and Cid is level 39. I'm getting them all to at least level 45 before I enter.

But anyways... A re-make would be so much better than another release of the original game... I would love to see some new material added, who wouldn't?

ok, we know the lifestream pretty much burst out of the ground, making a wall, protecting "earth" from holy, blah blah blah... well, that would have been alot of lifestream used up, right??? well, i saw a picture of cloud (from a trailer) in midgar, with his buster sword in the ground... it didnt have any materia in it... maybe the planet did die? there wasnt enough lifestream left...... therefor no materia... take a look (thenth picture down, cloud in midgar) http://www.adventchildren.net/ff7ac/media/screens.htm maybe that is also why his motorcycle holds so many swords??? no magic...

Woah- I've been gone a while... I just read most of the posts I've missed, and the one thing that's on my mind right now is...SOMEONE DISSED "ONE-WINGED ANGEL". That's a big no-no. The "One-Winged Angel" is a dark masterpeice, a work of art. *loads shotgun, then slowly stokes it* And I've read something about a "Planet Scar Syndrome" afflicting the planet, so it's more than possible that the planet is dying, but not dead. Remember Bugenhagen talking about how if all the mako leaves the planet, the planet (in a graphic representaion) is pretty much to crumble apart and die, and everything goes with it? So I think it's safe to say that the planet is still alive. Plus, Sephiroth stabbed the ground in the Temple of the Ancients, and there wasn't exactly a huge (or even small) mako reaction to fix the wound. And who says he doesn't have materia eqipped? I'm not saying he does, but some people say that the holes in the buster sword are materia slots, but I just can't buy that. The other weapons that cloud weilds have NO holes, but many more slots in them. I've seen a replica on ebay that includes materia, and the slots are in the handle. Unless there's something really official saying otherwise, I think the slots are in the handle. Plus, why would you want to use magic when you could just kill your oppenent with a sadistically oversized sword and look like a total badass? i'd stick with the sword.

I have a question for you, Incubus: Do you have ANY proof to back up this interactive movie theory? Because the most recently I've heard is that Square was toying around with the idea, but it's not set in stone. I agree that there is absolutely no chance that it will release in theatres, but I read A LOT of articles on this movie, and nothing has confirmed this being interactive movie. i have two, very important words for you: "Game Informer". This is a massively underappreciated gaming magazine that get a ton of exclusive preveiws on games and game-related movies. Lots of important info in there. Really, the director of the movie said himself said that this was a visual work, more of a movie than a game, but not quite either. Think of it as an addtional CGI movie at the end of the game.

Master, I agree with you, I used to be a subscriber to "Game Informer" and it was a great magazine, but highly underappreciated. I'm not a subscriber right now because I guess I'm just to lazy to renew it. Now I'm kicking myself because I want to read those articles you mentioned.

Well, actually, no I don't, but I'll find it again for you (unless someone bought it already>_<). And yes, I shall try to find those articles for you as well (one was from PSM, though). But still, no other magazines (besides the interveiw in PSM) I've read have mentioned anything that Game Informer hadn't already covered a month or two earlier.

i just beat ff7 again and when you beat seph after he falls back and the light goes through him, when he dissapears theres like 7-10 orbs going away from him and what my original theory was that the seph look-a-likes were the 10 crystals to make the sephiroth (in the myth)so maby the orbs were the look-a-likes and they became the children and seph is the guy in the wheel chair. only if square enix is following the myth but im not holding my breath

Holy shit I just saw Tifa and Vincent, and.. WOW. Once I finally (it was a very long time) calmed down, I could help but feel slightly dissapointed that she doesn't still just wear that sexy undershirt tank top. It looks like she might, but still...on a more amusing note, when I looked at her, I could help but notice a slight resemblance to Princess Vespa from Spaceballs.

and.. what's this? The three Sephiroth clones/reincarnations now have names? Here's what I think about Advent Children: The person in the white hood in the wheel chair is Hojo, horribly scarred and deformed from the battle in which he injected jenova cells into himself. Though he was defeated, he somehow survived, made use of the abandoned facilities in Midgar (such as a possibly-surviving Mako-reactor, which would explain the planet scar syndrome and deserve the attention of all the characters from the game), and finally succeeded in cloning Sephiroth (note that he mentioned never being able to create a perfect replica, just a lot of "failures", which would explain the slightly different appearances of Kadish, Rods, and Yazoo. and just a side note, perhaps since he was Sephiroth's father, combining his and Jeova's cells would result in a better chance of creating Sephiroth... or holy crap, I think I stumbled into something here, maybe the trio are not clones or reincarnations, but true siblings of Sephiroth!) So anyway, Hojo created these guys and is now commanding them to destroy Cloud to exact his revenge and begin his rise to power. That's what I think.

Oh, and an after thought of mine: Sephiroth is the greatest villan ever to grace Final Fantasy (In my own personal opinion), but being killed twice, the second time being Omnislashed and then buried at the center of the earth, left to rot in the lifestream's core, as much as I hate to say it, but the original Sephiroth is probably dead for good (it hurts to type that). Even if he did survive, he probably wasn't exactly up to the task of creating new clones of himself. Physicaly he might've made it, but his mind would be completely gone by the time he made it to the surface, lost in the lifestream. But if my Hojo theory is correct, then perhaps Sephiroth's soul was captured in the mako used and divided into Rods, Yazoo, and Kadish.

hmmm. anyone notice all the people in the picture with the turks??? did the entire human race survive??? it appears so!



also, it was stated that the movie will actually be closer to 80 - 80 minutes long! hurray!!!

i really dont know too much about advent children but from what ive seen it looks like it will be completely and utterly INCREDIBLE. you really cant get enough of FF7 and to put it movie form is genius. master, you seem to have the right idea but i think we'll just have to wait and see. Vincent just better be as awesome as usual.

makes you wonder if vincent is going to turn into any of his limit breaks and if so which one or if any of them are going to use their limits cause that would probably be the coolest thing in the world seeing vincent transform, or cloud us omnislash, or barret use whatever his last limit is, or tifa, or red 13 ohhh man i cant wait to see if their limits are going to be in the movie

second... some new info... there is a translation up of the new magazine page (that showed the turks, tifa, marlene, vincent etc.) it is here:

third... voice actors have been announced (for japanese version), and it is from a very reliable source... the voice actors who played cloud and sephy in the japanese version of kingdom hearts will play the characters in the movie (anyone know if they did a good job in the japanese version of KH?).

that same website also states that the runtime will actually be 90 minutes now!!! 1 hour and a half of ff7 goodness!

it also says Nobuo Uematsu will be the musician again! hurray!

I hope that it'll come out in July, that would be awesome. I'd wait in line outside the video store to get it. Starting today. And it would be awesome to see the Highwind back in action. But...didn't it get mostly destroyed at the very end of the game? But still, it would be awesome. There will probably be another awesome airship of some sort.

New information from Sony indicates that Advent Children will be playable on the PSP (PlayStation Portable), and will be release on one Universal Media Disc (UMD). During their E3 presentation a trailer for Advent Children was played on the PSP to demonstrate its capabilities, and reports indicated that the trailer was comprised of partly old material and new material.

The PSP is set for a global release sometime before March 2005, and Advent Children world-wide release date is set to be at the same time.

i think they will... and the voice in the beggining of the trailer is assumed to be red! sounds like him... not to mention he is in the scene in the game 500 years later, so naturaly they must put him in the game.

Yeah, a thanks from me too! You answered my question if Tifa's in the movie! Tifa looks sssooooo awsome in the movie! Her facial looks kinda remind me of Aki Ross with long hair. I love her looks! Marlene does look cute! I never thought of her being in the movie.

That's an awsome opinion! As Tifa's my favorite from FF7, Rinoa's my favorite from FF8. Rinoa & Tifa rule! Rinoa does somewhat look like Aki Ross.
