Since it seems I lack on dedication on this great share for Dragon Ball Japanese Scores. Here you have the Updated Thread. 🙂
This thread was originally to share the 2006 release of what "they" believe it was the complete soundtrack. But it was not. There s still so much things missing.
Gladly dynamixx already took care of getting us the complete Movie Soundtracks: 😉 (Thread 75397)

Anyway, on a brief summary of this thread. Changed the title from "DRAGON BALL Z SOUNDTRACK COMPLETE (REALLY THE MOVIES AND THE SERIES)", which was my happiness speaking higher then my reason at the time I immediately shared the 2006 BGM collection, to "DRAGON BALL Z Released Japanese Soundtracks (TV Series & Movies) (Shunsuke Kikuchi)". What will be a lot better for some to read and know right away. 🙂

I really wish they would release a soundtrack for the GT series already. Most of the GT BGM was released on the Anniversary DB movie [which I’ve uploaded already *wink*], but there is a lot of music that they left out.

and for kma029 information, it IS what you were looking for, i’ve allready listen, and it as all the musics that weren’t on the 5 cds release DAIZENSHU on 1994. but there’s one music missing. but I have it. when I start Upload on Sendspace i’ll the music too. this music is not on this Suppposed COMPLETE BGM. wich is very sad, because i think it’s the music all fans like.

There is no english soundtrack for the movies. Since they’re just band musics.
I don’t like the majority of them, I think it should have a soundtrack, but they were too lazy for that. even though, I have the 1st movie of cooler, and in the credits you have a list of the songs that appear, you may try to look for them this way. I have never found a list of that songs, I would get them just for collection.

just for the record: Shuki levi was the first american who made the american soundtrackof dragon ball z. He just made the soundtrack on th radidtz part series, and truly enjoy more then bruce falconer.
Shunsuke Kikuchi, the original japanese composer of both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. I love more maybe because it was my childhood songs, and now it’s very nostalgic and makes me remember when I was a very cute kid.

i have know four specific bgm music from dragon ball series that i haven’t found in ANY ost at all, these are extracts of the episodes, i put them in a zip in megaupload (it’s only 2mb), altough the 4th music i haven’t found where it appears in the series to get a sample, i will upload later. But it’s like, i have listen to just about ALL soundtrack cds and never found these 4 bgm’s, i would like so much to know if by hearing them, you recognize them and if you have a "clean" version of them (i mean, without the voices from the series and sound effects) from a ost or not.

The db.mp3 one played many times in dragon ball, in the tenkaichi tournaments, and even in dragon ball z very rarely.
The dbz.mp3 played a few times in the namek saga and frieza sagas.
The dbz majin boo saga.mp3 is a goofy music that played sometimes (this is a rip from a portuguese dbz version), in this situation, it was a part where Mr. satan was teasing kid buu.

Believe it or not, these are some of the BGMS i liked more, altough most of the ones i liked i already got in the OST’s but these i could never found…

Any idea if these are present in any ps2 game too ?

What really upsets me about the releases of the Japanese BGM is that this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK2dWMD14mM) track was never released. I own both the 3-disc Columbia and 5-disc Daizenshuu compendium soundtracks and it isn’t included in either. Also, a lot of the music from Movie 3 (The Tree of Might) was excluded as well as many from the Broly movies.

Maybe it was legal issues?

song on the japanese part is the cd2 of the complete ost. that song appears at first on the movie of "METAL" Cooler. it is track 10 of the cd2, it has all the songs from that movie in one track only.

the other one i cant see. the link keeps pointing on the worng direction. it’s like the movie was deleted.

the song your looking is from DRAGON BALL. It’s Supposed to be on the Soundtrack of Dragon ball. that songs was "RECICLED" for Dragon Ball Z.
daizenshu 5 disc edition, is INCREDIBLE INCOMPLETE. but some of the songs of THE TREE OF MIGHT or on the ost of the seriees of DBZ and you have the most important parts on the first soundtrack ever made through the ovas… "Ongakushu". a little story:
ongakushu was first release as a limited edition, this lemited edition has the songs or most of the rare to find songs all fans love, but the weren???t sold enough and they take it out of stores and release and icomplete shit. with some new but incomplete. as soon as i can i will upload that cd.

I can help yo by seeing the ending of that movie…it may says who is the artist. i only have seen the first OVA of cooler with the american music and the soundtrack was all composed by hard rock metal bands.

"Plage 41" is from Dragon Ball TV series / Original track: "Akai Ribbon" 2nd tune

"Plage 42" is from Dragon Ball TV Series / Original track: "Koroshi-ya Tao Paipai" 2nd tune
"Plage 44" is from Dragon Ball TV Series / Original track: "Koroshi-ya Tao Paipai" 1st tune
these two are 2 parts divided of teh same track

We all already knew there was never a propper release for the movies of Dragon Ball Z.
dynamixx aided us with his friends rips from the Laser Discs releases. So those we have now complete.
But today, half an hour ago, I was talking to a friend and doing some "surf" on youtube, and I came up with some new Unreleased tracks for the TV series of Dragon Ball Z. I have not yet downloaded at all, as I have not grabbed this to work on.
They are very little pieces that were not released ever before. It is one collection of 4 minutes long and another of 1:30 long, more or less.

But the REAL news I wanted to give here is about the Dragon Ball Movies soundtracks. At least I found one full suite of 13 minutes of soundtrack for the second movie. I am not really thiking to split the tracks… I might do it. Don’t know yet. BUt it seems someone has ripped all 3 movies in full suites. The problem is, I could gather information about being ripped from Funimation DVDs (or whatever is the name) for that subject of 5.1. The second movie of Dragon Ball Soundtrack…. I can get it … But I am trying to hit down the other movie rips, as I know the guy did rip it. Just not found it yet.

Ok guys, I am back on my work for the japanese soundtrack. Both from Dragon Ball and Z, zince it is the same composer.
About Dragon Ball:
I have been hunting down some things and learn that the unreleased tracks from Dragon Ball were actually Released. Yes they were, in other soundtracks from Shunsuke Kikuchi. The same can be said in DBZ. You do notice that little song from Tiger Mask Opening theme in the Bio Brolly movie when Goten, Trunks and A18 are fighting those weird dudes of the Jaguar guy,
So the "unreleased" tracks from Dragon Ball were actually in Doraemon and Abarenbo Shogun scores.

About Dragon Ball Z we dont have much more unreleasead tracks to work on. We already have it all thanks to dynamixx (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f91/dbz-movies-definitive-edition-75397/3.html#post1937200).

So right now I am more working for the Dragon Ball side. 🙂 Sadly , we may have some , just some tracks they might have some sfx. But that does not kill the music at all. 😉

Ok everyone. NEWS about the project.
So its like this.

It is 1 hour and 29 minutes long this project.
It has:
-> 2 tracks which are Montages, combining various tracks in one, working as Symphonic Suite. 🙂
-> 26 tracks, unreleased tracks from Dragon Ball, ripped from DVD
-> 13 tracks, unreleased tracks from Dragon ball Z, ripped from DVD
-> 11 tracks, which are bonus stuff, and suprises. :p

It is all done and currently tag. As well with a txt file with a lot of infos.
I just need to work on the covers for this thing, and will soon be able to share it. 🙂

OK everyone, while I was ALMOST finishing the booklet I had to revise everything. And I will have to make everything from scratch again.
My issue now is this:
Long time ago, back in 2000 or 1999, it was broadcasted in my country’s tv channel, for the first time the 2 last Broly movies. The ending theme of the Bio-Broly (know as "Dragon Power Mugendai") was actually instrumental, and since then it has been my favorite song just because of the instrumental. Sad it was when I found out that there is no instrumental track of that song anywhere, Officially.
So what did I had to do ? Go look for my tapes…
but for my luck, a portugueses, like me made a torrent with the Portugueses versions of all DBZ Movies. (NOte that I am saying Portuguese, as in Portugal… not Brazil. People tend to think Portuguese and Brazil is the same, and that annoys me a LOT).
After all movies are download I will check all ending themes and if they are instrumental as in Bio-Broly movie I will rip them and add it for this collection. This movie I already ripped the instrumental track (so freacking addictive *.*) now I just need to get the rest.

Been donwloading from a patriot Portuguese Dragon Ball fan who ripped all the Portuguese Dubbed Movies DVDs (released like 4 times in different years… for no loci reason at all)
I was so happy to finally rip the "Dragon Power" instrumental theme. ^^ Apparently it was the portuguese that decided to cut the vocals. I originally thought it was the french so I was looking for the french dub. The reason why I was looking for it was because even dubbed the titles of teh movies were french, so I took that "clue". So lucky that there is Portuguese Fan Legion Bigger enough for me to be able to ge the dvd rips. 😉

My country is so stupid. The movies "Fusion" & "Dragon Reborn (the tapion one)" and last 2 OVAs of BROLY … here goes the story:
"Fusion" and "Dragon Reborn" came here to the cinema as MOVIE, so there is no ending for the "FUSION" movie. The stupid thing is that they were both released in VHS in my country in 2 Tapes in same case, but as I could find out… the label with the rights from those did not re-released them in DVDS. Instead, they released all Dragon Ball and Dragon Ballz from 1 to 9 DVD (even excluding the 2 TV specials. even more weird when they were releases in VHS back in the dasy by this same label.)…. Those, do have some instrumentals never even ripped anywhere (not all, but some.) The Brolly movies are the most stupid ones…
because there was a complete different cast for the dub there was not even a VHS release for them. Meanwhile, 2 portuguese channels here, insist to Broadcast (more like teasing) both Movies as one movie, therefore there is no ending for the second movie of Brolly.
These movies I am talking could only be ripped FINE from TV. Yes, TV RIP. But the sound is fine, at the best the man could do it for the portuguese legion of fans.

I am planning it for December. I got other projects that needed my attention first. I am currently trying to finish one, after it, I will go back to this one.
I am sorry it was not finished in February like I wanted. But a lot of sad stuff came in between this project.

Back in february when I was going to finish this, my laptop died.. so I had no computer for weeks, till I got payed to buy a new one. Now this weekend I was going to to this, and I took a horrible scare of my new computer dying too. I got it fixed, but now it’s the monitor that died.
So, I am going to wait for christmas promotions so I can buy a new one.
Honestly, now I remember why I this project was called off so many times. Everytime I went on working with it, something had to happen.
And now I am not sure if I can finish this for at least 25 December as Xmas present for you guys or if it will only be for the next year.

bad news… Got my computer back and all my works and projects… are no more. including this one. To be honest, I have not more motivation continue with it. I just lost too much music data and image collection….

Very bad news indeed, I’m sorry for that! As I previously stated, remember to always keep a backup of your future files/projects!

A good solution would be to buy 2 identical hard drives models, for example with a storage of 2 TB, to make a backup of files by using a great free software like this one:

FreeFileSync | Free Security & Utilities software downloads at SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/projects/freefilesync/)

By doing this, if one hard drive crashes, then you’ll still have a functional copy of the files stored in the other hard drive!

if money grew on trees I would have the luxury on doing what you said… but right now… it’ is just impossible…. 🙁

In addition, the bonus and special material I was waiting to add on this project, have become more then enough, and I have to choose carefully this "special gifts" in a way that it will give you all a good musical experience.

Thank God I wrote those posts, so that now I am aware to what I have to rip again.

I just got my backup files, from last February. During the time I manage to rip certain tracks, those were not backed up. Although I was sure it was… :/
I have not all my tools yet installed to start working on it. Rest assure that as Soon as I can, I will get back to this and finish it.
I really have to finish this one so I can move on to the American Dub unreleased music, which are a lot to work on.

the bgm were pure class between db to dbz frieza, was very good in android saga, but clearly mediocre in buu saga, i just like 2 battle themes from that saga that’s it

Majin Buu saga had not much of new stuff. I think Shunsuke Kikuchi got tired of DBZ, because toei just used the music they owned. So, you are hearing the Majin Buu saga witrh a lot of tracks already used even in the movies. It is just weird to hear the Red Ribbon theme in a Buu appearance. They just re-used a lot of music stuff. Takeshi Ike was the only one making some music for the Buu saga.

Just letting you guys know that in the middle or end of February I will get back to this unreleased rips.
I have just calling it a Vacation for myself. And rest a lot, before I get to my projects.
I might work first in ripping Street fighter 4 ova soundtracks and Then give my attention to this. Honestly I kinda felt the mood for my projects after some events. But I really to get back my love for you all, and work on this with much dedication as I can. Doing it just for doing it is not so fun and is not so good in results.

I have also been answering some others people???s requests for some other soundtracks of anime. Which is also killing a bit of my time. As Long as I can rest, it is fine. 🙂

Hi everyone!
So, I have not even released those other projects, but I am guessing they will be all at the same time, since I have been waiting for some feedback on some stuff I am waiting.
But I have already started to work on Dragon Ball 😉
pridek1 had linked Mugiwalaarge youtube channel with 122 unreleased tracks, but I have to point they are actually less then that. Most of the tracks were re-ripped for better audio and they were not deleted or replaced. Ripping from any Source for Dragon Ball music, will always have sfx. So it was decided to rip tracks that were mostly in places with no speech, and since most of themes are almost "bridges", it was originally done to make a kind of relaxing tune mixed with the background sound. Consider it a a drama cd without speech. 🙂

Now, another section for this Dragon Ball unreleased tracks is a bonus disc, which I am still receiving tracks, some bad other good, and I have been choosing very selectively those tracks.

And I have to redo, again my symphonic suite for some DB/DBZ tunes…or I think that is what I was doing. :/

Hey everyone. Things are not so good on my personal side, but in way, it is a good thing, since I did get to be able to re-rip certain tracks, along with some help.
I am working to try enhancing the tracks in stereo. Since the original show was in mono and most dvds released are in mono. Go figure why.
Project delayed? Yes! I can’t do much about that, due to my personal life, but I am hope that the waiting will be rewarded with the fact I am trying my best for the tracks to be Audible enough for your enjoyment.
Again…. There can’t be flac in here. the sound quality is not worth it. It’s like eating a Hamburger without the burger.
Als, some tracks will be mixed together as a suite, mostly because they are variations of the same cue and because they are too short.

I will give updates, when I can. I have been giving attention to the project with the little time I have for it.

Well, I think everything is fine, as long as conversions from mp3 to mp3 are avoided (the sound quality would degrade too much), this is only a suggestion ;).

There is very little to do on the rips now. just need to rip some new tracks (not a big amount of tracks), organize, produce and finish the booklet. Deadline for myself is x-mas, if I manage to get it sooner, even better.

Well, now being serious, I think few users here would have your same knowledge on DB BGMs, you’ve spent so many hours working on them… So, my suggestion is to simply take a break. Enjoy your life and, if you’re willing, then eventually go ahead with this project. This usually helps with breaking these curses. Remember, at the end you’re the one who’ll win. 😉

TOEI stupidly got rid of the broadcast audio so now they can’t really get the entire collection in one piece together. There have been fans who have sent them the broadcast audio but they refused due to their pride, nor will FUNi get to use it on home media releases either (TOEI would gut them).

Not very likely. You can find some or more around precisely a few (out of the tons of BGMs that were composed) on YouTube.

Kei17 is the guy who has Dragon Ball + Z Japanese broadcast audio tracks but won’t share it publicly (only those within the circle) and also he worked on splitting BGMs from the episodes’ audio files. You can find a batch of Dragon Ball Z Japanese broadcast audio batch on NyaaTorrent with over 500+ comments, most are from users pissed that someone finally shared it.

Those that are pissed think FUNimation would get permission from TOEI to use it on their BDs/DVDs when TOEI themselves refused it. It was a sh*t show of a comment section. lol

Orie, that’s kind of insulting to say about Shunsuke Kikuchi. His music may sound similar but it’s not the same. It varies but you can always tell it’s his work as he left his mark on each and every one of them.

I’m thinking about making a ‘Shunsuke Kikuchi Soundtracks Thread’ here on FFShrine but for now I can’t as I’ve got a lot of stuff scheduled to upload elsewhere and if I may get done with it, it may be by mid February or so.

Kiteretsu and Dr. Slump never got official BGM Collection CDs and Dragon Ball Z was unfortunate to only get some so the rest were lost.. unless Kikuchi made a backup for himself which is entirely possible (musicians keeping possession of their own work).

After 1 day hearing his music, i feel tired of it and wont touch it again … until next year. That is how I feel. Call it insult to you or not. His mark for me was in dragon ball, and in sake of nostalgia I can see the great music he makes, but then … it falls off because… nothing new on his other soundtracks. Dragon ball seems to me exactly where he was inspired. I can listen Dragon ball all day I don’t get tired, even if he uses tiger mask music in it, or even Sakigake!! Otokojuku music in dragon ball. But his style is clear on what he wants to do, and everything else, not really.
He just… does not make enough tea for me.

The thing is, the Dragon Box audio is the same as the Laser Disc audio but the LD is lossless while the DB is lossy. In terms of quality difference, it’s just a minor difference at best from what I have read.

If you really want the best, you’d need the CD drama audio releases which are extremely hard to find.

Ayreon decided to delete all his uploads from Nyaa due to being harassed and questioned by a member as to his authenticity of the Dragon Ball BA audios. We had a good thing going and it’s vanished now. Hopefully he comes back or joins this community which is much better than that toxic mess of Nyaa.

Are you sure about DBZ Movie 6, 12 and 13? I checked and only DB Movie 4 + DBZ Movies 10-11 appear to exist.

Read that one of the LD’s was selling for like $200 and honestly, no way I’d spend that much on something I’d just want to rip the audio’s out of it. Then you’d have the issue of the equipment which would be another charge. There are people who have the LD audios ripped but won’t share.

True. I bought the FUNimation Dragon Boxes Z at retail price and now each cost about $200+.

The thing is, with the LaserDiscs I’d only rip out the audios and never bother with it again so a rental service would be more convenient. 😛

Yup, and we have a better chance of getting the LaserDisc audio as it’s sold on used markets than the Drama CDs since they’re so rare.

Fullscreen DB/Z and LaserDisc Audio is my dream release. I synced the Dragon Box: The Movies – Movie 13 to FUNimation’s 4×3 release footage but it wasn’t worth it, it sounds inferior to FUNi’s JPN audio. ha ha

The drama cd audio is not so good.
They are just a VHS sound transfer. :/

Bio-Broly movie, I own original japanese VHS. comparing with the drama cd audio…. which is…. what it is… the sound is crappier.
Sailormoon movies had each one their own drama cd, and the sound is much better.

The drama cd audio is not so good.
They are just a VHS sound transfer. :/

Bio-Broly movie, I own original japanese VHS. comparing with the drama cd audio…. which is…. what it is… the sound is crappier.
Sailormoon movies had each one their own drama cd, and the sound is much better.

There’s a good chance it’s still an improvement over the Dragon Box: The Movies audio quality though probably not by much. Still, having multiple choices is great so wouldn’t say no to that. 🙂

When I buy stuff, I try to buy in bulk or find the cheapest price for each product. Yahoo Auctions! is likely one of the cheaper place to get the LaserDiscs.

I have thought time and time again about using Share (Japanese P2P program) which possibly has a good chunk of Dragon Ball content there but never bothered to, it’s all in Japanese and I can’t read it. :p

BakaBT went private (so it’s pretty hard now) and I’ve double and triple checked Nyaa.

This (https://nyaa.sl/) is a good alternative to the "normal" version of Nyaa since it has torrents which were deleted on the main website.

If someone would organize a group buy so that with just 20-25 $ for contributor we could collect the LDs and rip them with the proper equipment, then I would join it for sure.

Yup, that’s what I was thinking, although I’ve never personally captured anything other than using FRAPS, so perhaps someone else should handle the capturing part, although if nobody wants to I can give it a shot, I know nothing about LDs or players though lol. We could also resell them after digitizing, and hopefully make the contributions back, but either way, if someone wants to set up something like this, I’d be down to contribute, or assist in any way I can.

I wouldn’t mind giving $20~25 but I think the overall total would be around $540 ($390 – $30 per movie LD, the LaserDisc Player for about $150ish but possibly cheaper) and that doesn’t include the capture card. I’d really like to see this be released someday.
