A question and a request...

Is there any issue if we post other people's custom cover art that we find elsewhere? Even if we don't know the artist?

Think of this as my portfolio. The last is a reconstruction of a pre-existing, but damaged cover. I believe in clean, strong design. I like them to look reasonably polished, but not so much that they would be confused with real ones. Adding catalog numbers, UPC codes and publisher logos make it look more realistic but also add to the confusion, seen many, many times on this list, about the authenticity of the 'album.'

These are some I made up as there were no decent cover images for them online. Two of them, Arsene Lupin and Koroshiya Ichi have legitimate album covers but I could not find one which was decent to use at 600 x 600, so I made them. The other covers save for the Damnation Alley bootleg are from CD's which were included with DVD's as bonus discs, so I made those too.

Really nice work with the Batman covers, Arial, one rarely sees such good work with the typography of custom fanmade covers. They really look official. Also, the small "sticker" on the 3 disc version is a nice detail!

The Dark Knight graphic on the complete score is brilliant, better than the commercial one when it's just all gray with the bat symbol on the cover.

absolutely. i've gotten a few goodies from inferno in the past.

As a huge Zombie film fanatics and a movie score enthusiasts I do make it a point to collect some of the most memorable Zombie film scores... well I just recently browse my collections and find that there really isn't much with the cover in what I have there & I'm talking about the Day of The Dead soundtrack by John Harrison. I got inspired to make a custom cover for that and here's what I come up with. I'll be doing the Night Of the Living Dead 1990 soundtrack cover next but for now here it is for those looking for an alternative custom cover.

this is probably one of my most favorite soundtrack... In my book it's a great score in an underrated movie. Simply put the film is enjoyable to say the least but the score is definitely a must to listen to..

In the tradition of Boogeyman, Michael Myers, Jason Vorhess, Freddy Krueger etc... there's a bad ass cop character that should have been in their league..presenting of course...-Officer Matt Cordell of the Maniac Cop film series. Once a good cop turned bad after being framed and killed (almost) now is on the wrong side of the law.. :)

Jay Chattaway provided the score for both Maniac Cop 1 & 2 while Joel Goldsmith take over for the third installment. I love the soundtracks but unfortunately only the soundtrack for part 1 had been released commercially. It would have been great if the soundtrack to both the part 2 & 3 will finally be released but nothing seems to be in the works. If only I was good at making rips but obviously Im not. I made a try but I just couldn't get it right. I think this franchise also had it's own cult following and I'm sure just like me they would be happy to have a hold of the Maniac Cop scores...It's a long shot but maybe someone out there would made a decent rip of both Part 2 and Part 3 that would totally make me happy. :)

Anyway here's what I come up with (I made a simple rip combined with the released vinyl soundtrack of Jay Chattaways score to Maniac Cop 1) If your interested just pm me and i'll be happy to share it of course soon as i uploaded it somewhere...

Here's a new batch of custom cover I did recently, Most of them exists of course with the exception of The Captain America 1990 soundtrack music as composed by Barry Goldberg. I recently watch the movie and I read somewhere in the net that as part of the Cap promos, the 1990 movie will be released on DVD as a special collectors item by MGM videos. Unless someone made a decent rip of the soundtrack then the score will remain a bootleg (though i believe it deserves to be released for the comic book fanboys)

Hehe. Not at all bud ! The Batman fan is my brother. lol. Not only I made some covers but I remastered the complete score cause I want him to have a listenable set. It's just occasional then, and even lucky somehow... That would be too bad indeed I keep that just for one person. The only thing that bugs me is that this baby has already made a world turn while my bro won't get it before I see him next time (not an internet guy). :D

lol...you got that right(almost)...i tried it cause it seems better having the preview with the actual size in a smaller version (bigger than the thumbnail preview without fully hugging the entire page. but i just can't get the coding right...and besides looking at the one you made as an example looks exactly the same full size preview on a direct link preview with IS so i'll just return to imageshack.. :)

You're most welcome. It's nice to know that my posting of the cover (which I hadn't planned on doing) got someone interested in the score. IMO, it's not his strongest score (sounds a lot like M:I-2 and Pirates), but it's a fun listen.

I have it in lossless, if you want (though, I'm not sure if it's genuine or not).

it's the recent hot topic/ much talk about complete score of the Wolfman by danny elfman. recently got mine and thanks to VenomShock, i had the pleasure of meeting the elf and the wolf with the howl that guarantees for a good listening experience. it's definitely for keeps and i recall there's no cover in it (so, i took it upon myself to make one for myself) :)

I made another cover, this one for the expanded edition of Patriot Games that babydoll posted recently. Again, I was faced with the problem of having inadequate choices. At first, I attempted to make a new cover from scratch, but there seems to be very little variation in images for this movie. Also, seeing as I only have Microsoft Paint to work with, my reach is quite limited. So in the end, all I did was very minutely change the commercial album cover from "original" to "expanded". Not a huge difference, but enough of one that, for me, made it worthwhile.

My custom artwork for White Dwarf soundtrack:

get ready for rush hour, line familiar?...it's from "Speed" of course, it had this adrenaline pumping theme done by Mark Mancina and for that it has become one of my early favorite score.That cover give me a bit of hard time as the available photo is cut on the edge on the left from the original promo poster. Next of course is another zombie flick with a kick ass score provided by Reinhold Heil & Johnny Klimek from "Land Of The Dead" (The Expanded version is a custom rip that you may find in the inferno music vault -if your interested). Last but not the least is the score from an action film internationally billed as "The Man From Nowhere" (Ajeossi - I think its big brother?..) with music by Shim Hyun-Jung.Be sure to check this Film as it is packed with an ass kicking mayhem, like "Taken meets Edge of Darkness" IMO .. :)

The TWD cover (with the font) I added isn't exactly flashy or even hard to do as any one can do it for those even who had the slightest know how in photoshop...there's nothing really much to it. well the other cover i did was just me messing the design to my own amusement after all it's a custom cover. :)

Yes, he did. But I think he's probably best known for his work on 24.

The score uses a lot of brass, which I guess is pretty typical for these patriotic stories. It sounds very similar to Apollo 13 and The Patriot in that regard.

Anyways, I'm back with another request (sorry).

The complete score to Serenity seems to be lacking in a good quality cover (all of the ones I've found are horribly stretched and used Paint for the text. Gah.).

So, I'm wondering if any of you would be interested in creating one.

I've got a couple images in mind, and maybe a few suggestions as to how to make them.

So, pic 1:

I want to keep everyone in frame (including the lens flare). I'm thinking take the logo on the bottom (which is kinda hard to make out), and place it above their heads. I'd also like it to read "Complete Motion Picture Score" somewhere at the top, and "Music by David Newman" somewhere on the bottom. The font for both of those I'd like to resemble the font on the official cover (but hopefully you can keep the stylized logo on this one, and not the flat one on the official art):

I'd really like to have both groups of people in the cover, but I'm not sure if that's possible (maybe cut out the space between the girl and guys, and split the group around her legs?). I'd like to get rid of as much of the unnecessary text as possible. I'd like it to read the same as the first cover ("Complete Motion Picture Score" somewhere at the top, and "Music by David Newman" somewhere on the bottom), but using the font on this poster (maybe the black for "Complete Motion Picture Score" and the white for "Music by David Newman").

That seems like a lot of work, so if it is too much, you obviously don't have to do it unless you want to.

If it doesn't actually seem to be too hard, maybe you could also do a variant on pic 1 with this photo?

Get rid of the unnecessary text again, but this time keep the logo , and make "Complete Motion Picture Score" white on top, and "Music by David Newman" black on bottom.

Again, if anyone actually attempts to do any of this, I just want to tell you how thankful I am. I know many people will appreciate your great work!

The score is not too terribly noticeable in the film but it works great. Definitely one of my favourite movies of all time.

The general problem I have with your artworks is, that the text your the back covers are often hard to read. Maybe it helps if you add a black outline to them instead of the tiny shadow.

The original image was like 1200 x 1600, or something like that. It was more than a 1000x1000 pixels, so there was no stretching.

Here's a request.

Could someone throw on "Music by Trevor Jones" on their, maybe in place of where Director's Cut is, above the title? Could you also add "Complete Motion Picture Score", maybe above the title and artist, or maybe somewhere along the bottom? Would it be possible to use the same font that the logo is in?

As for text, I have two option for how you can do it:

1. Perhaps you could put "Expanded Motion Picture Soundtrack" along the top of the logo, where there's a little alcove, and put "Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens Music by Stephen Flaherty" with "Original Score by David Newman" directly below, along the bottom, where the hallmark is. Or, you could just put both of the captions there. Similar to this:



2. Do something similar to this example cover I have, and simply put "Expanded Score by David Newman" along the alcove at the top. However, please do not crop it like the image below:



I would like it if all of the new text could be the gold font similar to what is on the example cover.

Any chance anybody could do a cover for the Avatar 3-Disc Promo? The cover that is out there is identical to the commercial release, only it has "Complete Score" badly stamped on it. There are 3 that say "For Your Consideration" on them but they don't fit properly and the one with Sam Worthington's face split in half is horrible. The image on the right side (his human face) is a screenshot of his character Marcus from Terminator Salvation. Don't know who did that and thought nobody would notice.
Maybe someone could put something like

"For Your Consideration

Academy Promo

Music Composed & Conducted by James Horner". Something like that?

Not in that particular order, but saying those words. If I could do it, I would.
