It's finally here. Most Pikmin 2 rips were incomplete and it's no surprise: the game has a VERY dynamic soundtrack. Some of the tracks are really so random that looping points are practically impossible to find. The result: 458 tracks with a playlength of 16:45:20
It also has the few New Play control tracks.

In memorian the 600 Pikmin that died for making this soundtrack possible.

I have the FLAC's too, but the FLAC is a whopping 4.5gb, so I'm not bothered to post it on mediafire. I'm running out of space on the game music disc partition.

Download is in 8 rar-files:
part 1: track 1-76
part 2: track 77-131
part 3: track 132-183
part 4: track 184-226
part 5: track 227-278
part 6: track 279-349
part 7: track 350-411
part 8: track 412-458

the low health and captain getting hit variation are missing.
So the only variations I have are normal, working, carrying, near enemy, battle, berry flower and near sundown variations played with Olimar's rhythm and with Louie/President's rhythm
Since Louie and President have the same rhythm I call them all consistently with Louie in the title, even the Wistful Wilds songs where Louie is missing.
the cinematics differ slightly between the WII and Gamecube version, so I picked both
the last tracks of the list are found on the disc, but I couldn't find them ever being played.
I didn't decide to pick names named after the first cave you hear the song play, since it sometimes doesn't make sense, since some variations play in later caves. The names are often the names given in other people's soundtracks.

Claps / cheers / major fireworks. AMAZING!!!!!! Thank you so much for doing this! I'll download it as soon as I get home!!! Finally after years of waiting... Thank you so much!

Also, the downloads seem to refer to the original Pikmin game's music. How long until the whole of Pikmin 2 will be downloaded? Again, thank you!

fixed the download link. Still only the first 2 parts are uploaded. Would probably write down which part contains which songs in case some people want specific songs.

This looks amazing! I will keep an eye out for the last couple of parts, and stay subbed in case you release the FLAC version. Thank you for all of your hard work. I enjoy all of your releases. Thanks yet again slippyToad! :)

The boss theme sound kind of weird. the violins don't come in the beginning and it just sounds off. Could you redo it by any chance? You just need to stand in fromt of the empress bulblax for a few minutes. Also, you're missing the upswing that happens at the start of a boss attacking. And the rest area I believe has an enemy variation. Bulblax Kingdom's 'regular' variation is actually the 'enemy near' variation. also, there are a lot of cutoffs in the beginnings of the overworld songs (wistful wild). sorry. I'm just trying to help make this rip the best it can be. Also, do you happen to have the different versions of the debt tracks that play in the US version? The quality and effort is amazing, however, and again, thank you!!!

well the chance of mistakes is quite big.

i'll check out the boss theme. I remember editing it a lot for the song and it's variations. I didn't think about the possiblity of not attacking empress bulblax inside the Hole of Beasts and just record it.
same for checking out Bulblax Kingdom. I could re-record it in Emperor's Realm in the level with Emperor Bulblax where no enemies are nearby. I listened to it thoroughly and it could be that the 'near enemy' variation is playing very silently.
the rest area has NO enemy variation. I already checked. I think you had Cavern of Chaos 3 in your mind, but that one has a different song playing.
i can remember with wistful wilds to find the loop point start, because another section of the song sounds a lot like the start of the song. Will thoroughly check them out

Thank you very much. Get to the final sublevel in the Hole of Beasts and start recording. Throw a Pikmin on the Empress Bulblax and it will wake up. Move to the round room that is your safe zone. Just stand there and listen to the boss music. The fanfare happens, and then the horns come in with the drums for three notes. THEN the violins come in for the duration of the song. Don't attack the Empress.

Also, there is an upswing that's missing (two rising notes that give way to the repeating preparation theme) as the boss prepares it's attack in the current version. (sorry, the Boss Theme is my favorite song)

The Wistful Wild Olimar Version is the only one that has the cutoff. For me, it kind of ruins the song a bit. Just have Olimar in front and go to the wistful wild and record a few seconds before you get there and then edit as you see fit.

EDIT: Awakening Wood's (It's actually called 'Awakening Wood', not 'Awakening Woods') Near Sundown Near Enemy theme is missing an instrument. This has happened to me before when trying to rip this. Just unpause and then repause, check for all of the instruments mentally, then record.

Sorry for the mistakes (my girlfriend pointed this out that the chances of mistakes was quite high with a rip this big as well) and thank you for taking them as constructive criticism (which it is) in order to make this the end-all be-all Pikmin 2 recording.

Again thank you for ripping this amazing soundtrack. Take your time with the revisions. You deserve it. :)

there's a folder fixed with the fixed tracks. Not all of them fixed yet. And I thought so about Awakening Wood(s) too with the missing instrument. The music is very glitchy in Secret Testing Range 2 too where the volume is sometimes distorted. Or it must be the PAL conversion.

Do you happen to have the THP-files of the movies of the NTSC version? I can check if they're different. It's weird, since the original Pikmin had both on the disc(and NTSC is used when PAL60 is turned on in that game).

Zorglorfian
05-04-2011, 04:00 AM
I don't have those files, I'm afraid...

I meant the X% of debt, 50% of debt, debt completed, and treaures completed are different songs in my version of the game. So you must be playing the PAL version, right?

The boss tracks are now amazing. Thank you so much for that.

Burnt Burrow needs to be switched between olimar and louie, BTW.

Thanks again! All we need to fix is the Awakening Wood near enemy night theme and Wistful Wild's olimar theme and we're set! Unless you've found more...

EDIT: The boss variations need some verification:

Variation #1: Attack 1
Variation #2: Defense
Variation #3: Attack 2
Variation #4: Attack 3
Variation #5: Attack 4

Go back to the bosses themselves in your mind. Burrowing Snagret attacks once, Attack 1 plays, then twice with Attack 2, and so on. Defense plays when it burrows, same with the Pileated Snagret, the Ranging Bloyster shaking your Pikmin off, also with the Waterwraith [de]fending you off with its arms.

EDIT: You don't have to do this if you don't want to, but could you do the Bulblax Kingdom tracks ONE more time? The beginning drums do not mesh well with the rest of the Bulblax Kingdom tracks, and these start off with a different music variation than the rest. Could you start recording the theme as you fall into the cave? Thank you again! Sorry if I'm being picky.

EDIT: The Awakening Wood Battle theme for Olimar also has the treasure carrying theme in it as well. Also, the Railroad Room and the Ramp Room tracks only loop once.

Olimar and Louie's regular Shower Room tracks include the enemy is near variation.

EDIT: Also, some tracks need to be reorganized. '071 - Discover New Pikmin Color' actually plays after the Olimar and Louie variations of the normal Perplexing Pool when you spot the Yellow Pikmin. What you've titled 'Get Sphere Chart' is actually 'Spherical Atlas Obtained / Prototype Detector Obtained / Five-man Napsack Obtained / Geographical Projection Obtained' and is placed after the Cold Chasm's Carrying Variation. I've also moved the Glutton's Kitchen tracks after the Perplexing Pool's 'Sundown' tracks, and the Get Boss Treasure song after the Glutton's Kitchen, since this is the first time this is used there.

EDIT June 27th: The Awakening Wood enemy near olimar theme has the treasure carrying theme attached to it. Graphite Gulch also has minor instances of enemies wandering near olimar in the original theme, as well as the Dweevil's Dugout Carrying theme having the battle theme mixed in. Thanks for everything, slippytoad!

EDIT August 28th: The carrying variations that I was talking about are luckily early in the game, about an hour or two in if you rush it..

Dweevil's Dugout (Citadel of Spiders Sublevel 3) Carrying and Hole of Beasts (Hole of Beasts Sublevel 1) Carrying also have the enemy variation mixed in. Those are it for carrying variations. As for the rest, they're in the large post in your Pikmin 2 Collection topic, as well as other things from the last poster.

Also, some regular tracks like Graphite Gulch have the enemy variation wander in from time to time. Destroy them!!! :P

Thank you for following through like this. Most rippers don't.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Thank you so much for you amazing work!
I literally bow to you!
This is truly amazing!
It baffels me why there is no soundtrack (or soundtracks.).
I would love to buy a 15 disc soundtrack of this beautiful music!
They did it with Resonance of Fate, Okami, Bayonetta, ect. ANd many box sets.
Doesn't Nintendo have enough money and people who care to at least have this music available?
It doesn't cost anything to post the music on bandcamp.

Thank god for you guys to have music on this site the way it has it.

I always think of Front Mission Gun Hazard. It would almost be impossible to listen to that beautiful soundtrack without a site like this. :D

Thank you so much!

(I Hope my rambling was at least amusing. :D)

Wonderful job! I started working on a music rip of this game a long time ago but I gave up. I am glad you perservered! There are a few things that should be noted. Cold Chasm (Louie) continually switches between Olimar and Louie. The Shower Room track for Olimar and Louie both have the enemy is near variation playing. The Awakening Woods track for Louie cuts in with Olimar's variation at first. I think you labled Olimar's Snagret Hole variation as Louie's and Louie's as Olimar's but correct me if I am wrong. I also heard one track (one of the hole tracks before that come before anything after track 160) I believe it may have been hot house (i don't have my earbuds right now so I can't tell) but I heard the near enemy variation came on every now and then and would fade away. That's all that I have to say. I am very happy that you have done this though. I know how easy it is to make mistakes when you have that many songs to record. Good luck with any other rips! Hopefully you can find a way to perfect this one.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I also noticed all the things that cylex7 had said. Try to check those out too. Good luck!

double edit: I found that there is a near enemy version for the Secret Testing Range track...it's the one that you called the normal variation! It's actually not the normal one. Try killing all the enemies and then listen to the music. That's the normal variation (which you do not have in your soundtrack). I have a crappy old rip of pikmin 2 and I had recorded it but now my old rip is gone and I no longer have a working Wii or Gamecube. I would re-record all the songs you messed up on if I could. I really hope this rip doesn't go unpolished for the rest of eternity. Perhaps I am being slightly impatient...

I meant the X% of debt, 50% of debt, debt completed, and treaures completed are different songs in my version of the game. So you must be playing the PAL version, right?these files were streamed on the gmae disc. Could be I was wrong and the streams are unused and a sequenced version plays. This actually happens a lot in many nintendo games(SMG2 title screen for example)

Awakening Wood near enemy night theme and Wistful Wild's olimar theme and we're set!
The Awakening Wood Battle theme for Olimar also has the treasure carrying theme in it as well.
Olimar and Louie's regular Shower Room tracks include the enemy is near variation.

You don't have to do this if you don't want to, but could you do the Bulblax Kingdom tracks ONE more time? The beginning drums do not mesh well with the rest of the Bulblax Kingdom tracks, and these start off with a different music variation than the rest. They really are recorded by just jumping into the level. Try killing all the enemies and then listen to the music. The secret testing range track seems to be a variation of graphite gulch played on Level 2 of the Secret Testing Range. Pikmin 2 tracks don't loop. They randomly play variations of the track. The song really is that short.

Actually, the randomness is confined to the sublevel. Whenever you go into a different sublevel with the same music, the samples of music switch. I haven't personally tested this, but I have heard it to be true from several other rippers out there and it makes the most sense to me.

It can be: AFCBEGDAFCBEG... on one sublevel and then BCAGEFBCAGEF... on the next. So... Just my two cents...

Actually every time you play a sublevel the music is different. But don't worry. I have fixed all tracks and currently zipping them and uploading them. As a bonus for waiting I think i'll upload the 4.5 gb FLAC version too.

Changes:
recorded again:
-Awakening Wood (Louie)
-Awakening Wood (Olimar, Near Enemy)
-Awakening Wood (Olimar, Battle)
-Awakening Wood (Olimar, Near Sundown, Near Enemy)
-Awakening Wood (Louie, Near Sundown, Near Enemy)
-Wistful Wild (Olimar)
-Graphite Gulch (Olimar)
-Graphite Gulch (Louie)
-Hole of Beasts (Olimar, Carrying)
-Hole of Beasts (Louie, Carrying)
-Snagret Hole (Olimar)
-Snagret Hole (Louie)
-Dweevil's Dugout (Olimar, Carrying)
-Dweevil's Dugout (Louie, Carrying)
-Shower Room (Olimar)
-Shower Room (Louie)
-Cold Chasm (Louie)

Tag changes:
- Get Sphere Atlas => Get Spherical Atlas Obtained, Get Five-man Napsack, Get Geographical Projection, Get First Spray
- Awakening Woods => Awakening Wood
- Moved "Get Boss Treasure" after "Glutton's Kitchen"
- Water Wraith Appearance => Waterwraith Appearance

Thanks for the reupload! Really, thanks. :)

Funny thing is that the new Snagret Hole has a little bit of the enemy theme in it, but the original was perfect anyways. :P

ALTHOUGH........ The Shower Room (Working) tracks for both Olimar and Louie still have the Enemy Near variation lurking about... Fixing it would finally complete the soundtrack!!!

EDIT: Also, Olimar's near enemy Valley of repose is Louie's variation as well as the Secret Testing Range's problems should be cleared up as well. Thanks again!

The fixes REALLY did help the soundtrack out, though. Thanks. :)

Wooooah nice soundtrack! I actually did a rip before, wasn't all that complete, though... And It was also pretty sloppily put together, too, seeing as though I used Windows Movie Maker to edit it. That also probably reduced the quality. It's nice to see someone else decided to go for the full on thing!
I also see that you adopted some of the names from the rip I made, like Burnt Burrow, or Gassy Grotto. I'm glad you like those names :D
I'm having one issue, though. The 7th and 8th MP3 rars seem to be missing. Could you reupload them or something? If so, that'd be neat.
Also, I was listening to the soundtrack, and notice that the "Near and Enemy" variation of the Shower Room is mixed in with the "Working" variation for both Olimar AND Louie. Could you go through the trouble of fixing that? If so, thanks!
Also, you might as well rename "Mystic Marsh" to "Hole of Heroes" seeing as though 1. Hole of Heroes is the only cave it plays in, and 2. Mystic Marsh is a level from Spyro, which may cause confusion.
Other than those minor issues, REALLY good soundtrack! I especially love hearing the unused tracks, which I'm very grateful that you ripped. Thanks for your hard work!

Oh, and I'm not entirely sure if you have it in your soundtrack, but did you get Totaka's song? It''s the one that plays after a certain time in the cave complete menu, only if the confetti is playing. To get a good rip, I'd turn sfx all the way up and music all the way down and rip it from there. Unless you have a way to go into the files of the game and find it like that.

I don't think he has Totaka's song... I checked, ymmot (that's you, right?).

Anywho, there are still tracks that need to be ripped, such as the Secret Testing Range after the Man-At-Legs is beaten (for both Olimar and Louie), as well as reripping the Shower Room Working Tracks (try Bully Den, the challenge mode level with the WaterWraiths. You start off near some gate that can provide the "working" theme). Thanks!

Yeah this is Ymmot392, I made an account named Ymmot392 on here, but it broke and wouldn't let me finish registration.

I'm currently trying to rerip the tracks that are messed up... So far I have the Frontier Cavern Louie Treasure and as I type I'm standing near a sleeping Bulborb in the Valley of Repose. After this I'll go to Bulblax Kingdom for Cautious Caverns Near an Enemy Louie (your name fits the theme better than "Hole of Beasts") and then Challenge Mode for the rest (Shower Room Working). One problem is some of the tracks have a buzz when turned up too loud, but who blasts Pikmin music?...

I'm thinking of just moving this to another topic for viewing, but I would like some of your opinions on the letter (especially those mentioned). I'll be making a topic in a few days. This is the definitive and finally complete Pikmin 2 Original Soundtrack, compiled with blood, sweat, tears, care, and love from several different sources, all trying to make the best rip possible. This compilation of amazing songs would never have been possible if it weren't for the following sources:

slippyToad - ripped 96% of the tracks from this in 2011; member of forums.ffshrine.org

Nintendo - The company that started it all. They were originally were a card company, and they are now a gaming giant.
Support them by buying their games or by going to: Country Selector at Nintendo (http://www.nintendo.com/countryselector)

Shigeru Miyamoto - The creator of the Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Star Fox, and of course, Pikmin series of games. Without his genius we would have never seen such a diverse and colorful group of characters come to life on any screen.

Hajime Wakai and Kazumi Totaka - Two brilliant and wonderful composers who have worked under the Nintendo name for several years.

Please support all of the above people if you can. Their efforts in the video game world only grow stronger and better through positive fan support.

To all of the forumgoers, Youtubers, Let's Players, and others who have spread the word of the Pikmin series to others, without your support, we may not have seen the series come to the WiiU. This is for you.

I mean no disrespect when uploading this hard-worked-on rip of an amazing game. Thank you all.

One problem is some of the tracks have a buzz when turned up too loud, but who blasts Pikmin music?...

... Oh, wait, me.... :Pback again, just moved to a new appartment. You can get rid of it by recording silence, copy that silence to the clipboard and use a noise reduction, with setting 'Clipboard'

Is the Pikmin 2 soundtrack finished yet and is it in the 1st post?

So a while back I started an edit of this, kinda !!!!! style. I've been taking all the variations of songs and seamlessly playing them one after another. I started this back in March, but I have just approached the end of the project. (I didn't work on any rips over the summer 'cause I'm lazy.) Right now it's a whopping. 3.16 gegabytes!

Unless you have a way to go into the files of the game and find it like that.it's not there. Knew it was there, but it's not possible to rip without SFX. Also Totaka's song doesn't play at all in the Wii version, so I can't use Riivolution to patch the sound files. I was thinking of recording the pikmin singing songs in a near future, because they are also 'missing'

I have compiled a tagged rip with the sources from above a while ago. Shame not that many people noticed. Pikmin singing and Totaka's Song are included...
