None of the, are from the game in my opinion. A bunch of random songs.

Are you talking about Budokai 3 or Budokai Tenkaichi 3? Budokai 3's soundtrack has the same music from the games. Budokai Tenkaichi 3's soundtrack was replaced in countries outside of Japan.

He's talking about the Budokai 3 soundtrack listed under the Game Rips section. It was common for people to replace the soundtracks for some of the DBZ games (usually with the Japanese music soundtracks), and it looks like the person who ripped the soundtrack for this game ended up with one of these "custom" versions. Just briefly going through it I noticed Nightwish, Stratovarius, Rhapsody, and even Naruto music.

It's best to download the official Budokai OSTs, not the ripped ones.

I have "Dragon Ball Z & Z2" and "Dragon Ball Z3" and those OSTs have the music from all 3 Budokais.

This isn't exactly the correct thread for this...

I presume you want the American rock/metal soundtracks for the movies. Can't help you there, you might have to look at the song titles during the movie credits and find those bands elsewhere.

You could also request the music you're looking for in the "Requests" section.

Hold on....why is Jump Ultra Stars on the list? It's not specifically a dragonball z game. There are other characters in it that have nothing to do with it.

I recently collaborated with a pal on a song that he had been working on previously for a while. After we finished it, he told me that the main melody was based on a midi file of a DBZ song from a video game, but that it had been nearly ten years since he downloaded the file and he had no idea what game it was from. Probably numbered wrong, i remember there being doubles of some tracks, so after deleting them i probably forgot to re-number.

17-Unknown Track 1 is Goku's ending theme on the hardest level.
18-Unknown Track 2 should be Cell's or any of the bad guys ending theme.

This is what it's all about, people. This is why I put this thread together. For the fans! Thanks for showing your appreciation, bridgezone. FYI, the Famicom music were most likely ripped straight from the ROMs. I've never done it myself, so I can't tell you how it is done.


I think it's time we, the fans, started discussing the music now. :)

As far as the Famicom soundtracks go, I think my personal favorites are DB: Daimaou Fukkatsu and DBZ II: Gekigami Freeza. So many great chip tunes in both of those games (many that may have been arranged later on for different games, I believe). I would recommend the fans to listen to these two first before any of the other Famicom games. DBZ Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku has some cool BGM too.

DBZ: Gekitouden is one of my absolute favorites. For a GameBoy game, it possesses some of the best chip tunes I've ever heard. In fact, I plan on arranging the entire soundtrack once I get all of my gear together.


@ ILL ViLLaiN: Buu Yuu Retsuden was done by Jessie (and what a fantastic job he did). You should address the unknown track titles to him and see if he's willing to edit them for us.

My personal favorites from Famicom are mainly the Z series as those are mostly what I have played. Thanks for recommending Daimaou Fukkatsu, I'll definitely listen to it as I get a chance. I noticed there are 2 links for DBZ Gaiden; one is a game rip and the other is an arranged version. The game rip brings me a lot of memories. Some of best tracks are: #7, 17, 19, 22.

The arranged version sounds awesome as well. The first track was really cool. It starts out sounding like a DBZ anime OP song and then turns into the main theme from the game. That was so DBZ!

I'm not too familiar with newer DBZ soundtracks such as Budokai and many others so if anyone is familiar with those feel free to recommend me with your favorite albums or even specific tracks.


jalvarez, this is just my suggestion for the thread but could you edit one of your older posts and include the info on composers for each soundtrack? It would be interesting to see who worked on which at a glance. Do you know if these composers were also involved in the anime music? Some of them sound very similar to anime in style.

By the way, DBZIII (FC) only says Bandai Sound Team while other games are listed with artist names like this...

There's the Famicom game and then there's the Playdia game. The Playdia game I've tagged already, but when it comes to the Famicom games, I'm afraid what you see is what you get. They aren't my rips, so I'm not at liberty to edit them and take credit for them.

Yes, the OP for the Playdia "Gaiden" game is one of my favorites. Very Japanese 80's Pop'ish style.

I'm also not a very big fan of the more recent DBZ games, or they're soundtracks. I love the older ones too much. But if I were to recomend you some good ones, I'd say check out the PSP titles, as they both have some really cool soundtracks.

Be sure to check out my Shin Butouden rip for the Saturn. I'm a very proud of it. :D

My favorite soundtracks are Super Butouden 1 & 2, all 3 Budokai games, and a couple from Ultimate Battle 22. Kenji Yamamoto might just be my favorite VGM composer of all time, his DBZ work is very catchy.

@ bridgezone: The Playdia game might be a sort of remake of the Famicom game, due to their storylines being similar. I've never seen a confirmation about this, though. As far as their soundtracks go, I doubt the Playdia is an arrangement of the Famicom soundtrack. I think each of the soundtracks were done by two different composers. I could be wrong, though. It's been a while since I've heard them both. I think I will compare them today.

Kenji Yamamoto is obviously the best composer for the Dragon Ball games. He's also one of my favorite VGM composers, period. Here is a list of all the Dragon Ball game soundtracks he worked on:

Kenji Yamamoto did the music for all 3 Super Butoden games, as well as the vast majority of the other games. He's basically the go-to guy for DBZ game music. He's doing the score for the Dragon Ball Kai TV series as well.

I was just listening to the UB22 OST. Gohan's piano theme always takes my breath away. I recommend anyone who likes classical music to check it out. You can hear it on my Shin Butouden (Saturn) rip as well.

Regarding UB22, I really like Cell's Theme. I dunno why though.
