Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus Unreleased Gamerip Soundtrack (Mick Gordon)



January 2018: I mixed some proper versions of tracks from this game, using the game's gamerip files. The gamerip contains thousands of untagged audio files with random names with no way to define which track belong to which theme/level/situation in the game for now. Most of these files are 10-30 seconds samples, intended to interactively create the music during the gameplay. Still I managed to define some part of all these files and combine them to complete proper music pieces. I managed to extract the audio files from the game thanks to user aluigi's script from zenhax site, who provided it to VladlenCry's request: https://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=5154 Thank you very much!

I don't know if I will continue doing music for Wolfenstein 2 game, for now I decided to stop doing it and wait for the official OST album, that is now in a production process. Afterwards I will decide, should I make something else with this game's music, depending on how this album will be presented and what it will contain. So, you can consider this as one of those non full OST albums, which contain only part of the game's music - completely opposite to what I usually do here LOL

Having a blast comparing the official edits with the mixes I did half a year ago! Not a surprise that lots of pieces didn't get to the official release, but strangely the final version of the Panzerhund Ride music didn't get to the album, when the one from developers gameplay commentary is there.


July 31 2018 UPD: After the official album release i finally got an opportunity to determine which tracks didn't get to the OST album. Surprisingly a large chunk of music didn't get to the album, half of which I already mixed in Nov-Dec 2017 and half was mixed in July 2018. I added almost an hour of new unreleased music to the old compilation, including unreleased combat themes, cutscenes music and even one unused track that was absent even in the game files (more info about each track you can find in videos descriptions on Youtube playlist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5e4BRUAl0kE&list=PLiVSF2AAhkqe0hK47qMwNPj16Dma85d6G&index=1)). I mixed Mick Gordon's music exclusively, because all Martin Stig Andersen's music included to the album, greatly mixed by himself, when almost half of Gordon's music written for the game didn't appear in the album.

In the end all this work turned to be this compilation of completely unreleased Gordon's Wolfenstein 2 music togather with a bunch of alternative and in-game versions of some released tracks, mixed half a year before the official album was released (again, more info on each track on corresponding Youtube videos). Basically an addition to the released album.

I guess I will make a full soundtrack album in the future, using both official album and my mixes, the same way I did with The New Order soundtrack (Thread 223101)

All the OGG tracks are made as OGG at first, then converted to MP3 (for not ruining the original audio quality, because the source gamerip files were OGG). These two MP3s though were made as MP3 from the get go (I don't even remember why I did so lol), so there was no point of converting them to OGG, like why even. So, that's why there are 2 MP3s in the OGG folder.

This guy is the real deal boys, supporing him on Patreon. His work is outstanding!

Well, if you didn't check out my compilation yet, you can do it now, togather with the official release, if you'd like. 10 tracks from here are unreleased, they didn't get included to the official album, when the rest of them are alternative edits I mixed soon after the game was released. Well, I guess it's a good thing, when people release some alternative arrangements of the in-game music. Thus we have different versions of many great themes. What's even better is when the albums get some unused music, that never play in the game. Still, I guess we'll never reach the time, when all the music will be released in the album. Maybe with some exceptions, like Square Enix albums or Mirrors Edge Catalyst.

That would be awesome! I hope he will make something different from what we hear in the game. I waited to hear his version of this track in the album and was quite disappointed that it wasn't there.

Yeah, I stopped mixing these in January, waiting for the official release, so a lot of stuff didn't get into this. I thought it would appear much sooner, tbh :) But now I don't know if I will return to it to add anything. Will see.

Update: I mixed more Wolfenstein 2 music, that was not included to the official album. Now the compilation has twice more tracks then before!
