Hey guys! I am in the process of completing a complete lossless, 16-bit 48khz, rip of all of the music for Nintendo Land, straight off the disc! The rip was provided by crediar from hcs64.com, so credit for that goes to him. After downloading his rip, I converted all of the files from the bfstms and the bfsar files, and from there had to figure out all of the tagging and names for everything (half of it was already there, and half of it wasn't). This rip is nearly comprehensive. I'm sure nearly every soundtrack from the game is in here, including even sound effects. The only thing that seems to be missing is the dialogue from Monita, but everything else (that I know of) seems to be present. It will be released over here, on Reddit, along with a few other channels.

With that said, I need a bit of help from the community. Before I release it, I'd like to get it all properly tagged, and there are a few tracks that I am unsure of the origin, as they are untitled and I simply cannot remember where they came from in the game. SO I've uploaded those files here in a playlist. If you could take a listen and let me know where it is in the game and a possible title, it would really help to bring the COMPLETE rip of the soundtrack to light a lot faster!
Here are the untitled tracks: https://soundcloud.com/ptto911/sets/nintendo-land-untitled-tracks
Thank you so much, and I'm excited to be able to bring this to you guys who love this game and its music as much as I do!

UPDATE:
The soundtrack is complete!

Here's the link to the release! :D

Ouch, that's a bit disappointing. However, this can help me to make my version better.

EDIT:
I just looked at it. It looks like there's a lot of room for improvement on his. A lot of the tags and filenames are wrong, and it doesn't include the sound effects, etc. So I think mine will be justifiable for a new release! Of course I'll credit him if I can gain anything from his contribution.

I don't want this to be released with tags being just "good enough". That's not a true soundtrack release. I'm trying to get everything as perfect as possible, and at the smallest filesize (still with FLAC and MP3). And mine is a lot more organized (all the games are in separate folders, separate from sound effects, etc.), and will include all of the sound effects too! I've put a painstaking amount of work into this, so I think it'll pay off :)

ptto911
07-02-2015, 09:17 PM
Additionally, after looking at that previous release of the soundtrack, what's surprising is I also noticed it's missing a lot of the soundtrack, even ones like the song from the coin drop game and the game startup theme! And the files I'm trying to name aren't even in there.

Compared to the previous release, the "full" one, which has 313 tracks, mine has all 430. These are actual music files, which means the first release was missing 117 songs or jingles!
In addition, it will include all of the sound effects (over 1300 of them!!). This is another thing that wasn't included in the original release.

So that's why it's so crucial to name these last few songs, so I can finally get the definitive version of the soundtrack out to everyone!

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Personally, I'm looking forward to this release.

Even if you can't find out what these last few tracks are, I hope you will release the whole thing and just title those tracks as "unused jingle" or something.
I've never heard them, as far as I can remember.

ptto911

I wish there was a way to just ask the developers directly, so I could finally find out what these tracks are. Haha.

And yeah, I'm thinking of doing that, if with a bit more effort, I can't find out the names.

The last thing I have to do to finish this release is put in the metadata for everything (are people really interested in that?)
I have all the track filenames set perfectly, but it's the data that goes in the other fields, like composer, title, etc.

ptto911

Guess what??
I found out the names of some of those songs I was looking for! They turned out to be part of the attraction tour! Found that out, because I played the attraction tour today, haha.

Just gotta finish a bit more tagging and find out the names of those last three jingles, and I'll be done!

Isn't the composer for this game Ryo Nagamatsu? Pretty sure he did all original tunes and jingles, and arranged any existing tunes. If you need to help figuring out the composers for anything I'd be more than happy to help, likewise with the metadata, I don't mind doing any of that at all.

ptto911
07-05-2015, 08:07 AM
Yeah, I've got the composer done. Is there anything else I should include in the metadata, though? I feel a title is unnecessary, since it'll be identical to the filename.

And thank you! If you're willing, I can send you (and whoever else wants to beta test it) the soundtrack before its final release to make sure everything looks in top shape :)

I'd image for the metadata just have standard stuff, the year in the Date field, composer, album artist (not only the original composer, but the people who's songs he arranged), total tracks, track number, disc number, all that stuff. If you'd like you can get creative with it and have it split into discs. Say, disc one could be a lot of the original work, disc 2 could be the arranged songs for the mini games, disc 3 could be jingles, etc.

If anything just upload one song for feedback on the metadata, and a screenshot/explanation of all the total files if you'd like to get creative with the discs. I could also whip up some album art from promotional material for the game.

Okay. I'll get started on that. I don't think I'll split it into discs, as I think the way I have it organized now is best.
If you've seen the Smash Bros. for Wii U rip, it's organized in pretty much the same way. I have all of the music for each game in its own folder (subfolders), and all of the plaza tracks in the main folder. The sound effects are in a separate subfolder, and mostly separated by game or area (like Plaza sound effects, etc.)
I think if I organized it any other way, it would be more confusing. The way I have it now seems the most logical and simple to me.
Here's a picture of what it looks like within the folder:
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac34/ptto911/Nintendo%20Land%20Soundtrack%20Window%201_zpsgx2sw e0n.png

Additionally, I could add in the original composers, and for those add Ryo as the second composer (there's no arranger field in the metadata). If you or anyone would be willing to help me figure the original ones out, that would be helpful too (warning: there's a LOT of original music from several games that was arranged).

However, I'm thinking of just skipping this part, because it really wouldn't be accurate (ex: I'd have to put in Koji Kondo as one of the two composers on some tracks, even though he wasn't involved in this version and only created the original.) If there were separate metadata fields for composer and arranger, I'd be much more likely to do it. However, if people are interested in the original composer's name, and are fine with it being in the same "Composer" field with Ryo, we can still do it.

And the album covers would be a great idea! If you could do that, I'd really appreciate it! :)

Well, you could just create a field called "ARRANGER" and credit Ryo there, while listing the original composers in the proper field, and if you can't find the original composer than list those credited for the composition. The directory you have does make sense, but only assuming that each of the folders has ~10+ songs in it, otherwise it just seems silly.

Yeah, most of the folders do have more than 10, so I think it's fine.
And I can create a field? I didn't know that. I'm using MP3tag, so that option may not be available. But I'll look again.

Just put Ryo in the artist field and put the original composer of the song in the composer field (unless it's an original song, which means Ryo composed it).

That could work. I found a way to add additional fields, but it's in extended tags, and those tags are not recognized by most media players. So I won't bother with that. I'm still debating whether it's a better idea to do that, or to just put both names in the composer field. But this might give more distinction (although I wish I could change "artist" to arranger).

Anyways, if I'm going to start tagging all of those fields for the original composers, I'm likely going to need some help.

Here's a link to the .html file with the entire track list (sorry, it's not separated by game):

I'll put up links here soon with the tracklist separated by game.

Once I'm done with tagging these, and we figure out the names of those last couple tracks (in the SoundCloud playlist from the top post), the soundtrack will be good to go!

All of this work is to make this release the definitive version of the Nintendo Land soundtrack, which can be enjoyed for years. I'd like this release to be final, as people don't want to download the same soundtrack multiple times if changes are made, so that's why it's so important that we get this done right!

Once again, I deeply appreciate all of your help. Let's get this done once and for all!
Thank you!! :)

Zelda: Cave (Before Boss) has bits and pieces from Ganondorf's theme (LttP) but it's mostly original.
Yoshi: All Clear has Yoshi's Story from Melee in the intro (sorry, don't remember the original song)
Pikmin: The intro of Battle has something from Pikmin
Yoshi: Yoshi Running is a remix of the P-Switch theme from Super Mario World.
Yoshi: Clear and the intro of Game Over remind me of the Level Clear fanfare from the Kirby games.

I don't recognize anything else.

Yoshi's Story from Melee is from Yoshi's Story. That melody was used in pretty much every track in the game.
Saying that Yoshi Running is a remix of P-switch is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion.

I don't seem to recognize anything from the two Metroid tracks other than a few riffs from Brinstar (in Boss) from the first Metroid game, but it's quite arranged.

Yoshi:
All Clear doesn't sound familiar.
Clear doesn't sound familiar.
Game Over has the riff from Yoshi's Story that 12th Gripper was talking about.
Jingle doesn't sound familiar.
Tutorial doesn't sound familiar.
Yoshi Running doesn't sound familiar.

Pikmin tracks don't sound familiar to me, but I have only played 1 and 3.
Battle does have a riff from the Pikmin main theme, but it's incredibly short.

I've pretty much got everything tagged now! I've found nearly everything in my SoundCloud playlist as well!
Literally the last thing I'm searching for now is this fanfare. After this, it's all done!

I think it plays when you achieve something, however I haven't figured out what it is yet. It sounds a bit like Luigi's Mansion, however I think this is something that is used for more than one game. Or it could be something like when you get an achievement in the plaza or attraction tour. I'm still looking.

After this, the soundtrack is 100% complete! :D

Alright, whatever happens, I'm going to make it my goal to get this released within the next week. Even if I have to do the art myself and find that last track, it will get done. Hey guys! The soundtrack is DONE!!
I am currently uploading it! It may take a while, as the filesizes are large, and I've been having some technical difficulties, but once it's all done uploading, it will be released!

Here's a breakdown of the release, so you can get excited!

TWO formats: FLAC and MP3
THREE versions:
1. The Soundtrack by itself (430 individual tracks!)
2. The soundtrack, including the sound effects (430 + 1367 sound effects!)
3. The sound effects only (just in case you download the soundtrack by itself, but decide you want the sound effects later)

So in total, that's 6 different files. Three versions - two formats (MP3 and FLAC)

In addition, I'm including a few extras in the two versions of the soundtrack (not the sound effects version).
I'll be including additional artwork for use in the metadata, as well as rearranged and remixed versions of music from the game (4 in total) including the two alternate versions of the title theme from Super Smash Bros. and two remixes by me!

The releases are packaged in WinRAR files (.rar) for maximum filesize compression.
You probably already know this, but you will need WinRAR (or a similar program that can open .rar files) installed on your computer to open the files and decompress them.

Thank you guys for all of the help, and I'm so excited to finally bring this release out!

Till then :D

I have 4/6 files uploaded, but the last two (FLAC) are taking forever, and the uploads keep restarting on MediaFire. I think it's because the filesize is so big. I would, but it appears MEGA doesn't count downloads, and I'd like to see how many people downloaded each version. Additionally, MediaFire has 4/6 files on there already, so it would be more consistent to have everything on MediaFire.

Sorry, it looks like it won't be up tomorrow.
This last file is having issues uploading, and I've had to restart it a few times.

However, I promise that right as soon as it's done uploading, I will release it that day.
My new target date of release: this coming Tuesday, the 4th of August.

The reason this last file has been having so many issues, is because it is the largest out of all of them at 5.54 GB.
So after it failing multiple times, I've decided that this time, to expedite the process of uploading, I'll be using Google Drive to upload it, which is much more reliable and fast, and will use MediaFire's import feature to import the file from Drive to MediaFire. It should work better that way.

Once again, I'm sorry for the delay, but it will definitely be out by Tuesday, for sure.
Mark your calendars! :D
