For decades, Nintendo has been the leading force in gaming, delighting millions around the world with their original concepts, fun gameplay, colorful atmospheres, powerful narratives, and amazing music.
Nintendo Land, for the Wii U, is a grand culmination of Nintendo's past, as well as their future, celebrating their biggest franchises, as well as sharing what's to come in terms of fidelity and gameplay: the GamePad introduces new styles of gameplay for these series that could never be done before, and the visuals, new for Nintendo, are now in vibrant high definition.
But so is the sound. Never has Nintendo had such high quality sound in their videogames, or had sound used so uniquely as with the GamePad.
And never have they combined music from their greatest franchises in such a grand package as this before.

This is Nintendo Land's incredible soundtrack. In all of its pure, high quality, and complete glory.

Composed solely by Ryo Nagamatsu (New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds), with Hajime Wakai (New Super Mario Bros., Pikmin series, The Legend of Zelda series, Nintendogs, Starfox 64) as the sound director, the entire soundtrack re-imagines 12 classic Nintendo franchises for the game, with a fun, novel 8-bit style, as well as fully orchestrated pieces to suit the feeling of the game.
It also features a robust selection of original music, perfectly capturing the fun and exciting world of this game, truly making you feel like you're a kid again in Nintendo's grand amusement park!
In Nintendo's history, this soundtrack is truly a gem.

The complete version of this soundtrack contains over 8 hours of music and 430 tracks! That's a lot of music!

With this release, I aimed to take the entire Nintendo Land soundtrack, graciously ripped by crediar at hcs64.com (http://hcs64.com/mboard/forumlong.php?showthread=38505), and convert it all into a listenable format, first in FLAC, and then in MP3.

It first started out as a passion project for myself, as I loved the soundtrack to this game, and have never seen it completed. I've seen fragments of it on YouTube, and line recordings done by people, which included the sound effects mixed in with the game, but never the whole thing, directly from the disc, exactly as it was intended to be heard.
So I started work on it. I converted all of the files, and started tagging them right away. Many of the songs had names, but without spaces, and with extra unnecessary characters, so I set out, renaming each and every track in the rip to their proper names. There were also tracks in Japanese that I had to find the English names to, which I did, as well.

Once I was nearly done with the soundtrack, I put up a thread asking people for help on some tracks which I could not name (as they were untitled and come from the sound effects bank of the soundtrack). Many people graciously responded, and I am very thankful for that.
First, though, someone replied, saying it had already been done before. This was disappointing to me, as I considered all the work I had done for weeks had maybe been wasted. However, upon a closer inspection, I realized the soundtracks released before were imperfect. They either were line recordings, and had noise in the background, and come from a second-hand source, degrading sound quality for the whole soundtrack, or were the direct rips, but the titling and tagging being done wrong, and incomplete, missing several tracks from the game. I realized at this point, what I was working on was still special. Not only would it have value to me, but it would have value to the community, as well.
And I was right. As I elaborated on what I was doing, and explaining my attempt to make this the most complete, high quality, informationally correct version of this soundtrack available, people got excited.

And they helped. Over the course of this project, many people stepped in to help me. These people are listed below for their benevolent contributions.
Additionally, for the other things I could not get help with, there are many other people on the internet that helped with this, even if they didn't know it, and too many to name. I mainly got help naming the rest of the tracks from watching YouTube videos and browsing the web, listening to countless soundtracks from the game's series (like F-Zero, Metroid, Super Mario World, and Yoshi's Story) just to find out the names of the original songs, in order to determine if they were arrangements, and then list the original composers. I was originally not even going to list the original composers for the songs, but one of the users here suggested the idea, and even offered to help. Although I didn't get a ton of help from the forum users on it, that's mostly because within about a week, I was able to scour the entire soundtrack, and completely tag every arrangement with the original composers.

In addition, there were some missing tracks in the files for the soundtrack; big ones, like the coin drop game, and the game's startup screen, so I went and recorded them myself, and then edited them, so they could be included in the soundtrack.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _________________________

This whole soundtrack has been a ton of work, and besides including the soundtrack, I've even included the sound effects, every single one that was in the original files, for your extended listening pleasure!

I believe it is due to all of this work, and thanks to all of the great help and suggestions from countless members of the community, that I am able to finally call this soundtrack finished, and finally be able to truthfully call it, the "Definitive Version" of the Nintendo Land Soundtrack.

As an added bonus, I've also included a few extras!
First, I've included a folder entitled, "Cover Art", which includes additional cover art you can use for the soundtrack's metadata!
Lastly, I've included a folder entitled, "Remixes", which includes alternate versions and remixes of music from the soundtrack (4 in total)!
These will include the alternate arrangement of the game's title theme and the remix of it from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U!
Additionally, it will include two remixes from me - the first is a remix I made of the game's title theme, and the second is a remix of the "Evening" theme from Balloon Trip Breeze, dedicated to Satoru Iwata.

People from reddit:

gameonion at reddit.com (https://www.reddit.com/r/nintendo/comments/3ahnj0/nintendo_land_complete_soundtrack_wii_u_rip_wip/) - This guy helped me out so much with the soundtrack - he was so eager for it, he was willing to help me find out every single track I was missing, help with giving tracks the best titles, and even going as far as recording some audio for me that the game was missing (I didn't end up using his audio, but it gave me good ideas as to how to make mine better!). Overall, a great guy.

MatrixChicken from reddit.com (https://www.reddit.com/r/wiiu/comments/3ahoyf/nintendo_land_complete_soundtrack_wii_u_rip_wip/) - This guy gave me some great info - he helped me name a few of the songs I couldn't name myself, such as a track from Donkey Kong, and some from Zelda Battle Quest.

farcry15 from reddit.com (https://www.reddit.com/r/wiiu/comments/3bt801/can_you_name_these_nintendo_land_songs/) - He's the one that suggested I come here to get help! I thank him ever so much for that, as you guys are awesome! :D

People from ffshrine! :)

PleaseJustKillMeNow at ffshrine.org (Thread 191253) - This guy was very helpful and gave me the idea to include the original composers for all of the arrangements in Nintendo Land in the metadata! Additionally, by doing this, it made me spend more valuable time listening to all of tracks, which helped me find and fix a lot more title and sound errors in the soundtrack!

The12thGripper at ffshrine.org (Thread 191253) - He helped me decide how to arrange the metadata, and was also just a great supporter of it from the beginning. Additionally, he helped me identify a few more songs I was missing. Lastly, he even offered to re-upload the soundtrack for me, as the last file wasn't uploading properly for the longest time. That's just cool.

binichico at ffshrine.org (Thread 191253) - He helped me to find the last few untitled tracks in the soundtrack. Additionally, he has been another great, eager supporter throughout the whole thing.

TheSkeletonMan939 at ffshrine.org (Thread 191253) - Thanks to him for being an awesome super user that supported the project!

The whole soundtrack is in 16-bit audio resolution, with the majority of the music in 48kHz, some shorter tracks being 44.1kHz and 32kHz, and the sound effects at varying frequencies.

To satisfy everyone, I've decided to release the soundtrack in two different formats.

The formats - FLAC and MP3; to satisfy the audiophiles and the space-conscious all at once.

Two different versions - In order to fulfill everyone's content wishes.
1. The first version contains the entire soundtrack by itself (430 individual tracks!) - "Nintendo Land Soundtrack [Format]"
2. The second version contains just the sound effects - "Nintendo Land Soundtrack [Format] [Sound Effects Only]"

Inside of the soundtrack is a file entitled,"Readme". Please read this, as it will offer more details on the soundtrack, like how it is organized and things to understand before delving into it.

I love this, thank you! I notice a problem with tracks named "Main (Daytime) Mix" "Main (Evening) Mix" and "Main (Night) Mix". What is that loud quasi-static noise in those tracks? I don't remember it. I have the complete flac set with the sound effects by the way.

Thank you for the hard work though!

Also are the tracks numbered? They are not on my end. There is so much I don't want to mix them somehow. :D

Those tracks with "mix" on the end aren't meant to be listened to. Read the readme.txt for details on that.

Also, they are not numbered, but since release, I have numbered them, and put together .csv files with the updated track numbers for the whole soundtrack.
Check the main post for the update!

Hey man,

Thanks a lot for this!
I finally have had time to sit down and take a look at it. I am liking the sound quality and organization so far.

I decided to put it in more of an "Album" format for my own organization purposes and have noticed a few things.

Based on your description in the readme file and your csv files, I understand that the tracks with a "Mix" tag are NOT meant to be included in an album format, but the ones with "Mix 2" or something like "Wind Mix" ARE meant to be included. However, I have decided to remove some of the duplicate Gate Intro songs as the differences are incredibly minor when noticeable.

The question I have for you is this: In the Zelda Battle Quest (and also Pikmin, etc) we see a few duplicate tracks that have the same, basic track Title in the metadata.

For example:
Filename is "Tatemono (Temple)" and metadata is "Temple"
Filename is "BGM Tatemono (Temple)" and metadata is again "Temple" (and this one is grouped together with all the variations... "Inside," "Mix 2," etc)

Is there any difference between these two files? In this case, the track time length is different, but I don't notice anything in the music that seems different. In some of the other cases, track length is identical. Do you have any input on what these are (different modes, or something)?

BTW, I have also noticed that there are a few typos here and there as well as duplicate track numbers in the same folders (just fyi).

Anyway, thanks for any further info you can provide!

Hi,
thank you so much for downloading!

So to answer your first question, you're right, the ones with JUST "Mix" are not to be included, but the others are.
In the readme.txt file, it goes over what those files are.

What I did with the other ones that say "Mix" like "Mix 2", etc., is combine the first and second mix of the song, which isn't found in the game, but some people may like the result.

And yes, the gate intros are identical, and I've noticed the second one "Gate Intro (2)" of each is better quality. I wasn't quite sure of the exact difference, other than maybe the first was mixed for the GamePad rather than TV speakers, so I thought I'd include both anyway.

And I did leave the same track title, as they are the same arrangements of the songs. My understanding of these, is the ones that say BGM (and the other ones with multiple mixes) were used in the game, so when certain things happened in the game, changes could be made to the audio instantly (e.g. in Pikmin the extra drums come in when approaching an enemy, which is the second mix with drums), while the ones without the mixes (the "regular" ones/e.g. Temple instead of BGM Temple) were intended for the jukebox, and are the versions of the songs actually meant to be enjoyed outside of the game.

Another cool thing about the ones without the mixes (the "regular" ones) is that, while the ones with mixes play one version the whole time (as in the first mix has no drums the whole time, and the second has drums included the whole time), the regular versions play the first mix in the first half and in the second half include the second mix (e.g. including the drums in the second loop of the song in Pikmin). So it's the more listenable main version of the song.
If you wanted, you could take out most of the mixes and have a full soundtrack, but I included the mixes just so people could listen to the alternate versions of the songs.

The only side effect of the regular versions is that, like in the jukebox, some of the tracks play for a very long time (one of the Metroid Blast regular versions is nearly the same as the original, but does include the versions without and with the drums (so it's the version intended for regular listening), but loops a lot more times, so it's 9 minutes, whereas the mix version only loops twice and is much shorter.) This doesn't affect the majority of the soundtrack, though, and I've noticed much longer versions only in Metroid Blast and Captain Falcon Twister Race.

And to answer your second question, after releasing the metadata pack, I've realized some issues, so I'm working on revising them and updating the files on there, including better numbering for some tracks. They should be ready by sometime tomorrow.

Thanks for the clarification!

Is it just me, or do the Balloon Trip songs that say "Mix" actually end up being more like the jukebox "Medley" type?

Also, I think you got Artist and Composer switched on some Mario Chase tracks...

No, Mario Chase looks fine to me. Ryo Nagamatsu should be the artist on all of them, with Koji Kondo as the composer on some tracks. Unless something happened with those csv files somehow.
And the Balloon Trip Breeze mixes are actually when those things happen in the game (like when the weather changes to wind or rain, etc.) The ones without the mix are the regular versions that play without the inclement weather.

Unless you meant the ones that just say "Mix" at the end. I think those are just the ones that I got all of the different mixes from and not meant to be listened to by themselves, the same as the rest of the soundtrack.

Weird. Some of the Mario Chase tracks had Koji Kondo as artist and Ryo Nagamatsu as composer, which is backwards. I hadn't used the csv files, I've just been using them to take a look at your track order. I also downloaded the mp3s on day one, so you may have fixed it since then?

Right, Balloon Trip has the different weather versions and there are four versions the same length for each "stage" (time of day).... Morning has "Morning" plus versions for Wind, Rain, and Wind+Rain. But the track titled "Morning Mix" does not sound like all of them playing at once like the other games' "Mix" tracks. It sounds like a Medley.... it starts normal, changes to Rain, switches to Wind, then plays Wind+Rain.

I just looked at the MP3 version, and you're right, they are switched. I primarily worked with the FLACs, and then exported everything to MP3, and input all the same info into the MP3 version. I guess somehow that got switched during it. It's fine on the FLAC version, though.

And you're right about the Balloon Trip mixes too! I had no clue they were actually medleys! Yeah, so you can retitle those to end with "Medley" instead of mix. This is reflected in the new csvs I just uploaded.

Thank you so much for all your help! I think this soundtrack is now ready for a 2.0, for both FLAC and MP3, just to fix all of the metadata issues and to number them! Haha :D

UPDATE:
Everyone, I have uploaded final new versions of the csv files, fixing all of the numbering issues, changing a few names, and changing the ordering of some tracks!

Please download the new csv's in the main post. This should be the most perfect metadata for the soundtrack now.
Thanks!!

Dohoho, absolutely what I always wanted from the Nintendo's Sound Department!

...and from a game-rip too, since it's your "magnum opus" of game music ripping. So yeah, multiple thanks as a reward.

However, I've always had a problem with .csv files. I had no clue how to use them, and after testing a few programs with file-tagging functions the renaming just didn't work. It wasn't until I realized that I had to change the directory from the Notepad. After that, while it did apply, the applications weren't in full effect. Thus I used foobar2000 to replace some information by Right-click -> "Properties", because I used the .csv file as a base for renaming the "album" section.

It worked, though. Sometimes I like to do things manually, so why not?

Excuse me, but do you have .csv files to tag the MP3 files with? You only included the ones for FLAC and those don't work on MP3 files.

Right, I only made the csv's for FLAC, as most people downloaded that version.

After I saw your comment, I decided it was long overdue to update the soundtrack with the proper track order.
Along the way, I made many name and tagging adjustments and tweaks to make the entire soundtrack more accurate, clear, and cohesive, and fixed some tagging mistakes that popped up in the first version.

Therefore, I am proud to announce I will be releasing Version 2.0 of the soundtrack soon!

This version will include full numbering on each track in the game, as well as many improvements to titling on tracks, and takes in feedback and suggestions from people who downloaded the soundtrack. It is also much better and even more up to date than the most recent .csv files I've uploaded. May try to get cover art too, if possible! This version, truly will be the definitive version of the soundtrack, and should need no further major updates after this.

So to answer your question, I could make the csv files for the mp3s, but so much has changed and improved on the soundtrack tagging now, that I'd say it'd be better to just wait a few days and re-download it, fully tagged!
Thanks so much for the support, and I promise it'll be worth the wait! :D

Update #2:
In preparation for uploading the new versions of the soundtrack, I've effectively removed the versions of the soundtrack that include the soundtrack plus the sound effects in the same archive, in order to make the update easier, and have less upload and download time. Since I'm only updating the actual soundtrack, and not the sound effects part, you will just need to download the new soundtrack, and the sound effects folder will remain the same!

I'm excited!

Thank you very much ! :)

You're very welcome! :)

I don't think it's fair that the community would have to do any work with the OST after downloading it (like adding numbers manually for every track, or anything else), plus I noticed a lot of other things that could be improved on after the soundtrack was originally released, so I just had to finally go ahead and release a whole new version of it! This really should be the definitive version this time, as it's as polished as could be, and incorporates all feedback I've received since the original release, too!

I'm very excited!

While you wait, here's a changelog of everything that's changed since the initial release!

-Numbered all tracks, so that they are in sequential order.
-Added a unique album title to the files from each game, for improved organization! (e.g. Mario Chase folder files now have an album name of "Nintendo Land: Mario Chase")
-Fixed all typos and incoherence in metadata
-Removed all Japanese titles, simplifying titling.
-Took out redundant information in track filenames, and replaced them with more simplified titles (made most filename fields identical to title fields)
-Renamed jukebox versions of tracks, changing the jukebox versions to "[Title] (Alternate)"

-Improved titling in Main Plaza folder (changed "Main ([time of day])" tracks to "Main Theme ([time of day])"
-Changed "[Title] Mix" files in Balloon Trip Breeze folder to "[Title] Medley" (as I discovered these mixes were actually medleys of all the versions of each BGM theme)
-Changed "...Wind and Rain Mix" files to "...Rain and Wind Mix" in Balloon Trip Breeze, as the rain mix always comes first.
-Renamed "Main [Stage #'s]" files to "Main (Stages [#]) and renamed "Main (Ex [#]" files to "Night (Stages [#])" in Captain Falcon's Twister Race
-Renamed "Main [Stage #'s]" files in Donkey Kong's Crash Course folder to "Main Theme (Stage [#])"
-On MP3 version, fixed an error where the artist and composer metadata fields were switched on tracks in Mario Chase folder.
-Renamed "Stage [#]" files in Metroid Blast to the actual associated stage names
-Fixed titling error in Octopus Dance, where the titles for "Stage 6" and "Stage 6 (With Piano Outro)" were switched
-Renamed "All Stages Medley" to "Stages 1-5 Medley" in Octopus Dance
-Improved titling in Pikmin Adventure folder (took out "Main" in front of main game BGM filenames)
-Retitled many "...Mix" tracks in Legend of Zelda Battle Quest for more accuracy and coherence.
-Renamed "Boss Intro 4" to "Boss Intro Final" in Legend of Zelda Battle Quest.
-Renamed "Main [text]" tracks to "Main Theme [text]" in Yoshi's Fruit Cart
