I’m not big on putting up tons of request threads, but whenever I begin a hunt for an album or soundtrack, I find pages upon pages of threads where a word in the title must have been mentioned. Or I find dead links.

Yet when I post a thread for albums I’ve looked for over years, give it 2 days tops, and one of you has found it.

I can’t believe I’m asking this. How are you guy’s searching? I must be missing something….Is there anyway to narrow it down.

SHOW ME THE WAY!!! So I can be of some use to myself here…and hopefully you guys as well.

Thanks.

I use Soulseek. It’s P2P with chat. Lot of rare stuff but of course the library is always changing.
I also do image searches. I have found countless albums that way, a picture that happens to be on a blog with all of BoA’s tracks for example.
I search the key words next to "mp3" and "soundtrack" obviously, but sometimes for several pages.
I search in other languages when I can. I’ve gotten a few game OSTs from French sites or Spanish sites. Surprisingly not that much in Japanese, but I get a lot of tag info that way.
I bookmark anysite where I found something so I can come back or so i can share it with others.
I use jpopsuki and gamemp3s.net
I go to YouTube and rip from there or PM the poster or commentors for tracks.
And of course I use my favorite site Galbadia Hotel.

Thank you!
I use Soulseek too, for years now. I’m sharing 100K files now.
I never heard of jpopsuki and recently stumbled upon gamemp3s.net

I meant searching here, I’ve seen so many people’s requests answered with links to other threads on the forum….I feel like just searching isn’t that simple here, and wondered if I was missing any major method.

Also….I can rip video’s from youtube via a plug in. But I can’t convert them to MP3…what do you use?

The forum’s search function stinks unless you’re searching a single word that is almost never used. The best way to search the forums is google. Just limit your search to forums.ffshrine.org and there you go.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of doing that….makes perfect sense. Thanks.

Glad I could help. Soulseek is great, aint it?
For searching forums you can use the forum’s search function but click "Show posts" instead of "Show threads." Then use CTRL+F to help find your keyword.

For ripping from Youtube I either use video2mp3.net, or I just rip the sound coming out of my speakers via line-in.

I use Knuckle’s second method. That way I can cut the beginning and end if there is a dead spot.
