Since it seem obvious that I can’t get anyone to upload these in FLAC, is there a place where I can purchase the entire OSTs for:

Sonic Adventure 1 – Directors Cut

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

Sonic Heroes

I absolutely love the music to these three soundtracks! Can anyone help me out? Of course if someone has one of these OSTs and wants to encode them with FLAC, I am very willing to help guide ye though the process.

Well, this place (ftp://ffmedia.defchamba.com/) has the soundtracks (SONIC the Hedgehog – Music), but I’m not sure if they are the quality you want. They are direct from the CD soundtrack mp3s, I think.

BTW, what is FLAC? Lossless?

P.S. – If the link doesn’t work, simply refresh until the page loads. I’m not sure if this is just an error for me or not, but you know, I felt like pointing it out.

Hmm…Interesting, I’ve never seen a wedsite setup like this. I’ll continue to check this out and see if I can find what I’m looking for, Thanks goes to That_Stupid_Guy. 😀 [joking; please don’t take any offence to it]

BTW, what is FLAC? Lossless?

Glad to explain. FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a wrapper used for encoding audio. It is 100% mathematically lossless, which means it sounds exactly like the source it was taken from (CDs/DVDs). The demand for lossless quality music is steadily growing, unfortunately not so much here on this forum. 🙁 FLAC is just one of many lossless encoders, theres also WMAL (Windows Media Audio Lossless) and Monkey Lossless Audio to name a few.

If you, or anyone, have a CD/OST of video game music Im willing to provide a step-by-step guide on how to RIP music from a CD (accurately) and encode it using either FLAC or WMAL encoding, all of this using FREE open-source programs and encoders.

For me personally, and many others, there is a noticeable difference between MP3s and lossless audio (duh, because its lossless). I challenge anyone to hear the difference for themselves, in fact, you can check out fast_eddies thread for FLAC lossless Final Fantasy music on this very forum and maybe compare it to what’s available on other parts of this forum or another website. Here’s the link to fast_eddie’s thread: Thread 39118

As with anything there are some down sides to having lossless audio. For one, the files sizes are about 2 times larger them MP3s, and the other problem, which isnt really too much of a problem, is that support for lossless audio, FLAC in particular, is not as wide spread as for MP3s, so it may not work as well on some media players, however Ive test these on some common media player (Windows media player, VLC media player, Creative media source, Media player classic, Nero showtime, and a bunch of other media players and both of these codecs work just fine on them.

So by now it would seem obvious that Im totally obsessed with achieving the highest quality audio possible, hence the signature. Sorry if I wasted anyones time with all of my cyber-babble but Im hoping to gain peoples interest in lossless quality music. I thought it would be a little easier here considering everyones love of music, video game music in particular, but I guess most are satisfied with MP3 quality. Again Im willing to help if anyones interested, and sorry for the long post.

CyberSpark out.
