I believe there’s a scheduled cron task that runs every hour and promotes those with five or more posts.

If one was to look in the Questions, Feedback, Assistance (http://forums.ffshrine.org/questions-feedback-assistance/) subforum, the simple answer to this question can be found in this thread : Cannot use the PM function =S (Thread 81343)
Obviously, some people just can’t be bothered to look around for the answers to their questions… but will look around for stuff to leech and not contribute to this forum in general.
