ffV: bartz or butz?

i’m confused… according to the snes roms of ffV, the main character is named Butz, but in ff anthology, its bartz… which is his real name? preferably from the snes version because i dont trust the rom i got, but i cant be sure… can someone please tell me what his name was on final fantasy V for super nintendo?

All of the roms on the internet have been fan-subbed, because Square Enix never brought Final Fantasy V out on the SNES – only on the Super Famicom in Japan.

Since the translation on the re-release is the official Square translation, my guess is it’s meant to be Bartz.

…however, in the rerelease of FF6, they called Terra, Tina – which is just wrong. So it really just comes down to personal taste.

i hate it when square doesnt release stuff, but im glad they are now… anyway i’ve seen his name as butz on sites too…it would be alot more helpful if square would have released it here for snes because i’m worried that it could be an aeris/aerith type of thing…but i’ll use Bartz as his name from now on. thanks
