So guys, I’m pretty bored and looking for some anime to watch. Recommend me your picks. I’ll consider feature-length anime only, so no series recommendations please.

I’ve already watched most of Miyazaki’s stuff as well as Gedo Senki and Perfect Blue.

Joan, one thing I’ve learned over the years is that listening to other people to assemble your viewing list is a big mistake. You should look through what’s available on your own and look for things that catch your interest. Not only will it give you a better perspective when you watch it, it’ll help you learn to choose wisely in the future.

Now on the other hand, if you find something that you’re not really sure about, asking for opinions about it is usually a good idea.

That’s the thing, I honestly have no idea where to start and I trust your judgement on this. 😛

actually, when it comes to feature lenght movies, i think the opinions are much better.

first of all, because compared to anime series, theres almost nothing out there. (or so few).

and secondly, you don’t get mixed up opinions from poele who only saw the first half or the middle. most poeple saw the whole thing. and have a better opinion of the whole movie in general.

plus i like this thread cause i think anime movies are the best introductory anime in general for anyone starting out.

i’m already guessing you’ve seen gits, ninja scroll, akira, and so on. so…yah. lol

if you havne’t. go now!

I just watched Mindgame by Studio 4 C and I liked it. Not your typical anime feature, almost art film during some parts. It’s true what’s been said on forming your own opinions on things, but a forum is a place for community and don’t feel bad about getting peoples views on things.

If you haven’t seen Byousoku 5cm (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6696), I highly recommend it. The sheer beauty of the animation is breathtaking. You can view some of the trailers here (http://5cm.yahoo.co.jp/teaser/index.html) to see if it’s your sort of thing.

My recommendatios would be Toki wo Kakeru Shojo ("The girl who leaps trough time"). It’s a new movie that won several prices in Japan, even over Miyazaki’s Gedo Senki. Wonderful animation and wonderful story.
