I recently obtained a recording of Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto De Aranjuez, which is a concerto for guitar and orchestra. Whenever I listen to it, I wonder why the hell the electric guitar was ever invented. Now, whenever I start getting into one of my guitar-hater moods, I just remind myself of Rodrigo. Does anybody know what caused this movement away from classical guitar and labeled the guitar as purely a rock instrument?
