Super Mario 3D Land Soundtrack

**REUPLOADED 08/13/2012 – ORIGINAL FILES split into THREE PARTS (due to MediaFire Upload Data Limit) / UPDATED TRACKLIST

Hey Everyone!

This is my first MAJOR post on the forum. With Super Mario 3D Land released this last week, everyone’s been abuzz about the game’s quirky soundtrack. Well, this is the best I’ve been able to find so far. CREDIT GOES TO andrezlatin FOR RIPPING THE MUSIC. I rearranged the soundtrack based on game linearity, renamed some tracks appropriately (using information found at mariowiki), and created a cover 🙂 (below):

In terms of overall quality, I’d rate it as decent (you know, 7/10). Some tracks are definitely better than others, and I’m positive that a few are missing. A few have SFX, but they’re short.

I, myself, am waiting for that one great, HQ Super Mario 3D Land soundtrack rip that’ll be released eventually, but for now, I’m satisfied with this one. Hope you will be as well! 😀

Alright, it’s all here for anyone who needs it!

Now, I’d hate to bug people about this for the umpteenth time, but there’s also a second version of the Special World 8 Map music. It’s heard when you beat all the stages completely with a 5-star file, and unlock the final-final crown level.

If that one can be retrieved, thanks! Good luck if you can reach it in the game though.

i like how the tracklist was made for this. the other one i found had a mixed up tracklist similar to the one i saw at gh.ffshrine for super mario bros. 3.

I’m accustomed to good soundtracks. Good quality, looped at least once. I’m pretty picky.

It’s missing the Boom-Boom / Pom-Pom fight theme (I don’t recall if they have separate themes or not, I don’t think so…) and the jazzy arrangement of the Peach Rescue theme from Mario 1 (it plays when you grab the final flagpole and rescue Peach).

Still, a decent effort…

No… we shouldn’t have to accept mono. This is 2011. Everything should be at least MP3, 320 kbps, and stereo. If it’s mono, that’s just no good, really. And if it is… *shudders*, that most dreaded bitrate that I can’t stand, 128 kbps, that is definitely NOT good.

Not sure what mono is, haha. Like I said, I didn’t rip the music, I just assembled a soundtrack. I know tracks are missing. I know the quality is mediocre at best. I just love the music of Mario games, and wanted to share what I found to be the best out there so far from the latest release. I have no doubt a better soundtrack will be available on the forums at a later date 🙂 Until then!

I for one can patiently wait for an genuine OST or hardfile rip. Also I disagree with 320kps. VBR V0 is the mp3 standard now and much more practical.

By the way nice job RedYoshiKing for your efforts especially the coverart, it looks freakin’ awesome :/

The easiest way to describe mono, is both the left and right channels are 100% equal to each other, therefore, the entire sound is in the centre, and because of this, all the sounds merge into each other, and sounds pretty awful to some people.

So far, nothing. 🙁 Like I said before, this soundtrack is just holding me over until a really great HQ complete soundtrack comes along. Wish I had the knowledge or capabilities to rip the music myself… :/

It’s like they different sections are played at random times, and not at the same time, either. Infact, play one of those stages, and listen to the first few seconds. Then quit and play again. Sometimes, it even starts with different patterns in a different order.

I noticed that too. I’m a big VG Music listener. Also, I’m waiting for "RedYoshiKing" to upload his soundtrack rip.

I can’t remember, but I think it’s the thread which has a post saying "huge update… something to 61 tracks", or maybe 67… but it’s more than 60 or … something?

The files from my original upload have been reuploaded under MediaFire. The 66 tracks have been split into 3 parts of 22 tracks due to MediaFire’s free user data upload limit. If there are any problems, let me know. 🙂

Yeah, 3rd part doesn’t work correctly unfortunately. Thanks for the first 2 parts. Strangest thing is happening with these music files though. It slows down my media player and they take a very long time to load. I wonder if its because of the 3rd part being non-existant or something. All I know is that I’ve never encountered such a strange happening for my media player. 😛

They’re all about 8, 9, or 10 MB. That needs fixing. 🙁

I’ve reuploaded Part 3. The file size may be due to the Cover Art being included in every file. It’s probably fairly large. Not sure though. I just moved each song from my iTunes to a new folder, and then compressed each folder. Again, I’m an amateur when it comes to this stuff. I just wanted to make this music available again, but I seem to be encountering a problem every step of the way. I apologize for all of these inconveniences. :/

Part 3 works now, thanks. And yeah, the GIANT FILE used for the album art (there’s no need to have such a ridiculously huge file for that) is the cause of the crazy file size. After deleting the album art for each file, I managed to bring the file size for this rip from around 600mb to 77mb.

I put all the tracks into iTunes, highlighted all of them, right-clicked and chose "Get info", then checked the box next to "Artwork" and didn’t select any art. After clicking "OK", it should remove the existing artwork. Presto!
