FULL GAMERIP

I made the first rip of the full game. 255 tracks, no track names (I haven't played the game yet). Sorry for that.
Some "item get!" jingles don't seem to be included, but I'm pretty sure all of the music is.

Keep in mind that this is only a very quick rip for those who can't wait for the music. I'm sure others will make better rips, with track names.

Anyway, I have to say the orchestration here is awesome. Nicely done, Nintendo! :D

I'm having the same problem. I played the game a bit and I couldn't find some tracks that were played. Maybe that music is sequenced, which would explain why I couldn't immediately rip them as full-fledged tracks. I'll look into it tomorrow, and if I find more tracks, I'll add them in a separate archive. Meanwhile, have fun with the 252 tracks I already uploaded, I guess :P

Thank you so much, sir! And congratulations on being the first to rip this game!

Especially grateful for the missing music upload - I had skimmed it previously and like Faleel, thought to myself "WOT Y THERE NO END CREDITS?!!!!!!!111" but thank God here they are. :)

Feel free to tell me to bugger off if you want, but I have a not-quite-but-nearly request... Would it be possible to get hold of the original, untouched audio files, prior to your conversion? With those, folk could create their own FLAC edition but without having to download a terrifyingly large set of files. It seems a little odd that you take compressed files from the ISO, decompress them to WAV, compress the WAV to FLAC and upload... resulting in files with the same quality but quadruple the original bitrate...

I wouldn't be asking but my ISP has suddenly decided to drop my download bandwidth allowance and so I am literally counting the megabytes now...

If you've had enough of uploading or think I'm an arsehole for asking, fair 'nuff guvnor as they say... but I thought I'd enquire anyway.

Thanks again. :)

Thank you so much, Bar.

I've just figured something out; most of the orchestral pieces in the FLAC edition are between four and six channels - meaning they include two or three "variations" on the pieces so that the music can change mood as gameplay progresses. This has explained why some pieces I particularly liked from the previous samples weren't in the MP3 edition - for instance, the romance theme sans percussion. Well, it's all in there!

If you're listening to the MP3 version, you'll be missing out on the variations because what you'll hear is every track playing simultaneously... There is a big, big mixing job here for anybody who is interested... (Not me...)

eDIT: OK, I had a fiddle. This is 2FAC6CAAB0DD2E75606888E65F9BBAF2 - after a bit of a mix. The snare drum is taken down a little, and for the second repeat dialled out all together before coming back in for the final statement of the theme. It is basically incorporating both variations of the cue into one extended version - giving a bit more variety than simply looping, satisfying fans of both variations, and giving the illusion of there being a bit more music. ;)

Notice in the MP3 version of the cue, the snare sounds odd and unnaturally loud. This is because a straight downmix and conversion of the multitrack was done (nobody's fault - just the way the software does it by default) instead of actually doing a sensible mix. I think the cue works a lot better now.

Sweet jesus, and here I thought we would have to wait ages for a gamerip. Thank you so much.
I hope Nintendo is smart enough to release a soundtrack similar to Galaxy 1+2. While the game seems to be the greatest Zelda experience ever, the music certainly flies above and beyond. I will not spoil myself any longer (I've only heared the music for the demo) because I want to hear the music first in the game.
Zelda games always leave me with a special emotion when the credits roll and I hope this will affect me stronger than ever before.

It's probably worth mentioning that someone's been uploading this rip (I'm not sure if it's the improperly mixed MP3s or the FLAC versions, since I can't download on this connection right now which kind of nips listening to either set in the bud) to YouTube. The important part is that between him and the public commenters, they've been identifying when each song (and its variations) plays and titling them accordingly. They're obviously not official track names but are as descriptive as you'd ever want as far as context goes. I thought this info might be useful for anyone ambitious enough to match up the songs with their respective titles, if they so desire. He's got 176 tracks uploaded so far and seems to be including the 3 missing pieces you uploaded separately, Bar. According to his comments he's going to upload the rest at some point in the near future.

Here's his channel's videos: Videos from AestheticGamer - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=UUjANE3HqV6pQ4Dyjk7Y8MWw)

Thanks profusely for the uploads, by the way. I'll be getting good use out of them as soon as I find my way back to tolerable Internet.

Great soundtrack-rip! =D I really love it. ^^ Though, I seemingly can't find the normal battle-theme against normal, non-boss enemies. You can hear it here (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Demoversion) - Gameplay [Part 1/ 3 - Tempel des Himmelsblicks] - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=tVCgl497cfc#t=384s)), around 06:24. That's the only video I've found where a fight against an enemy takes so long that you can actually hear the majority, if not all of the theme.

Hi, I don't know a whole lot about audio formats and all that stuff so I have a question. The mp3s...because most of the music has variations, then the mp3 rip is not really a full gamerip? But the flac is? I'm just wondering because I couldn't find the theme where zelda is playing her harp and singing and I'm just wondering if that is why. Like, in the bazaar, I noticed that the music changes slightly when I go into the back of the blacksmith's shop...same tune but slightly different. In the flac version, are these missing tracks and these variations all there and accounted for? The flac is a massive download, so I just wanted to be sure before I took the plunge, lol.

The FLAC version has all the variations, yeah. They're just stored in surround files - the game then mixes these channels differently when it wants to.
It's definitely worth a download.

Out of curiosity, does this sequenced music omission count for the FLAC version as well? How substantial is the volume of tracks unable to be ripped? I'm just curious about the distinction since I assume all this talk of properly mixed channels versus the separated MP3 tracks was referring to sequenced music. I'm honestly still murky on the specifics of the difference between the FLAC and MP3 rips, though I freely admit I'm kind of ignorant in these matters. You don't need to respond if I'm belaboring.

The MP3s are stereo downmixes (from multi-channel to 2 channels) of the corresponding FLAC files. So the only difference is the degradation of audio quality and the downmix.

Ah I see...so it would be necessary to record each channel individually and have it like "Bazaar" and then "Bazaar - Blacksmith" and "Bazaar - Potion Shop" etc etc. Is anyone going to do that do you think? Or just leave it as is? It's interesting how they did that, reminds me of what they did for Monkey Island 2, the whole dynamic music that changed depending on where you were on the island.

It's not just that - they might play two of the channels together in certain places. It uses the same system as Mario Kart Wii and that happens in that game sometimes, so I guess here too. It seems impossible to mix them correctly, so maybe someone more experienced with these multi-channel BRSTM files knows how to do this.

That's not what he meant by sequenced. The music that Bar has been able to rip is pre-recorded and in one continuous (or mostly) waveform file. Sequenced music however is sort of like a MIDI file, where the notes and pitch are saved in a type of text file and then played back in real time by the Wii using sampled instruments. In order to get this music, you either need to emulate the hardware to play back the music the same way or you have to record the music from the game playing on the Wii. Does that make sense?

If you play back the files raw, as they come, you are getting every single channel playing at once. Some cues, for example, are six channels - or three "layers" of two channels each. If you wonder why some of them sound rather claustrophobic and poorly balanced, the reason is that you're getting all layers at once - not necessarily through the correct channel, and often at an inappropriate volume. I think that the playback / downmix software is assuming Channel 1 = Left, Channel 2 = Right, Channel 3 = Left, Channel 4 = Right, Channel 5 = Left, Channel 6 = Right... which works sometimes, but not all the time! The order seems to vary. In the game, of course, they are dynamically mixed for mood and the game knows which channel to send to which speaker.

For a listening experience, it's not so easy.

Here's another example mix of 960E774EB2F14BCBE4B88F05E3908F45 which I will refer to as "Battle" because that's what it sounds like to me!

Download -_another_mix.mp3 from Mirrorcreator - Upload files to multiple file sharing sites (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/1RFU7YPB/-_another_mix.mp3_links)

This uses elements from all three variations but brings them in one by one to give the cue a bit more structure and tension. First, the theme, then the theme and additional timpani, then the theme, additional timpani, and snares to finish off.

Ah I think I understand. So the potion shop variation might be a mix of multiple channels, and the only real way to mix them as they are would be to sit there and actually compare it to what is playing in-game? How does the game decide how to mix the tracks? Is there any sort of information stored on the disk that decides this and can be used to create a proper mix? Or is that just a pipe dream?

Achilles: Haha, thanks. :) I'm not a gamer or a Zelda fan, so I would have had no bloody chance at working that out.

The game mixes based on what you're doing, how well the battle is going, etc. There is no definitive mix. I think the safest bet is to just come up with something that makes for a decent listening experience.

The files inside the game call it the "Field Minigame"

Specifically "Follow Fi". My favorite track so far. I think I'm going to re-rip it into a loopable piece or make a really long version of it to go to sleep to.

Kinda hard to do that when it doesn't even exist yet.

Also, here is my one and likely only contribution to the project, as I do not have a Wii and have no intentions of buying one anytime soon.

Nothing fancy - I just used the suck color tool in Photoshop to select the various colors, and I just messed with the sliders until I was happy.

Wii remotes connect via Bluetooth. So you buy yourself a Wii remote and nunchuck, make sure your computer has Bluetooth, get a wireless sensor bar (or use some candles or christmas lights), fire up the Dolphin emulator and you're good to go.

Just be advised that it takes a HELL of a nice machine to play stuff at anything other than 640x480 - like Multi-core i7 with a new graphics card. Also, if you want to play Skyward Sword make sure you get a Wii remote with MotionPlus built into it (or the motion plus add-on dongle.) Skyward Sword doesn't work without it.

My PC was built for high end gaming on the PC.

i7 920 CPU
6GB DDR3 RAM
ATI HD4870 1GB GPU

So I should be covered. :)

Last time I checked Skyward Sword was mostly compatible with the latest version of the Dolphin emulator so you're good to go.
Some games I bought looked even better on pc: Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 (incredible fun) and Metroid Prime Trilogy (one of my most favorite games). If you're into RPGs I would also suggest Xenoblade Chronicles, one of the better JRPGs this generation.

Most likely because the Wii cannot play native (or any kind of) 1080p...

I highly doubt that AstheticGamer has the track list, since nearly all the titles he gave his uploades are placeholdersI was not looking for an official tracklist and I doubt anyone has it right now. Besides, I highly doubt there will be an official track list for a game rip and a placeholder is better than nothing. I'll post up the 176 titles from his posts shortly including the youtube audio rip to help others out here match up the tunes.

I really don't think anybody expects more than some intelligent guesswork by somebody who has played the game; so that one may refer to the cues in some way other than with a long string of hex!

Below is the list of songs on his channel. Also, you can get mp3s (tagged and whatnot) ripped from his youtube posts HERE (http://www.multiupload.com/CSMTMHCKKK) (note the time signatures are kind of messed up on the mp3s). I would not use the youtube rips for archiving purposes; I posted them so others can match his titles with the hexcode titles of the FLAC rip. Have fun matching and please post the results!

Amazing work so far! I downloaded the FLAC version the other day but now that this new one is out by AestheticGamer I have downloaded that one and made new mp3 copies and am using this version until a more complete one is released. It would be nice to have his list in chronological order though :/ Anybody working on that? I unfortunately won't get to start playing the game until after the New Year :(

I'm playing the game for yesterday. I am at the right beginning (before the fly exam). I can try to name some tracks but i'll put 1 month or more to finish the gmae. I'm not going very fast with videogames. I like to take my time playing games

What I liked on Prime Blue's rip of TP, was that all of the dynamic sections oand variations of a song would be in one track. That, and no tracks were missing. Does anyone want to try accomplishing this? I will love you forever.

Thanks so much for doing this, especially everyone working on the track names, too. If I notice any still unnamed while playing I'll be sure to post it here. Thanks again.

Not to bump up this thread again, but has anyone started playing the game? If so, could anyone care to update the tracklist?

That is what we're trying to do here, although someone else already has. Unfortunately it's an incomplete rip, but then again so is this (some missing tracks I detected were the main battle theme and the treasure catches—are those themes sequenced, too?)

I think those treasure catch sounds might be in with the sound effects in a different file. If you have examples of them on youtube, I can try and find them in the game.

Also, keep in mind that for the item catch fanfare, there is the normal version, then there is the version that pauses a little between the four notes.

There's also three versions of the "Secret" fanfare, and the heart piece and heart container fanfares, but I've only heard one version of each of those.

Bad news: Prime Blue apparently is not interestsed in "Wii Shit", so don't expect a rip from Prime Blue. I've been trying to list each song the first time I hear it in-game, as well as the dynamic sections and variations. I have count6ed some twice, I'm sure. Anyway, if anyone wants to help make a Prime Blue-like rip, I'll love them forever. Of course, I'll need to beat the game first.

If PrimeBlue is not willing to do it, then how about we ask him for directions on HOW to do it so that anyone who wants to make an attempt will rise to the task.

I did, but we'll have to wait for a response. If many people made the same request, though, he might be more inclined to even rip it himself...

BTW, don't send him anything here on the shrine, he's not here often. Try GamingForce or Neogaf

Also, I'm have asked for the soundbanks from SS, so I may soon have the sequenced music and sound effects.

To achive what Prime Blue did, you'll either need AR codes to disable sfx, or you'll need to find the sound effect, and patch them. After this, you will needto [play through the entire game, making sure to get all dynamic sections of each song, and letting each song play through fully. If any mistakes are present, they can easily be fixed, so long as you have all of the audio (because you can always use Audacity to move the pieces around). Just remember that too much audio is better than too little. If anyone wanted to just rip an entire playthrough this way, I'd gladly do all of the editing. Of course, you'd really only need to record the songs that have dynamic sections. The rest is sololy for consistency.

slippyToad made really good rips of the Super Mario Galaxy soundtracks, even without combining dynamic sections. Maybe slippyToad will make an awesome rip.

For some reason, I still have this strange feeling that Prime Blue is going to try it.

Currently downloading the only existing REAL iso wuthout a dead link, to try and get the missing tracks.

EDIT: I noticed something when converting to M4A 512kbps. The amount of channels remains the same, but all of the sounds play.
i. e. the drums play in the "Exploring the Sky Field" track throughout the song, while in the FLAC, they don't play at all. (for reference, I am talking about 2FAC6CAAB0DD2E75606888E65F9BBAF2.) Of curse, my laptop only outputs stereo, but I noticed that those drums played from the right speaker, while all of the other instruments came from the left.

I am continuing the renaming here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqOuKITv-NLidGZpdjB5UTJWc2FuRkNEQlNULTFRNVE

If anyone wants to help me out, great. If not, I'll just use this for personal use. Everyone can edit it.

What needs to be done:

- Identify unknown songs
- Properly name songs highlighted in red
- Filter out sound effects
- Number songs chronologically

Also, I have removed a bunch of entries that were just sound effects. There's still a few remaining, but those will get filtered out eventually. What I'm trying to do here is to get a proper soundtrack out with the names and sound effects/noises filtered out.

Thank you!

I wouldn't say anything you have remaining are sound effects. They all seem to be full fanfares, even the shortest ones. Rather, I'm confused at the criteria you used when classifying the 64 excluded tracks as sound effects. A decent majority are indeed just ambient noises, or else exact duplicates of Laynaru Desert's variations, but others seem to be as 'song-like' as the shorter medleys that were titled and left in, for lack of a better description. Could you elaborate a little on that?

Other than that, the titled tracks all seem to match up, except for "Sing-Along Lucky Pumpkin Bar", which is an ambient dungeon-esque track I can't place. Also, I don't know if you were meaning to exclude all exact duplicates, but I assume so based on the Laynaru tracks that were excluded, so on that note, the identically titled "Skyview Temple" tracks are, indeed, copies of one another. I'll see if I can help identify the six nameless tracks.

Do note that I'm not responsible for the majority of the titles at all. I just changed what I could identify and filtered out some sound effects. For now, I'm renaming my local songs to match the spreadsheet so the ones that I omitted will still be unnamed and easy to identify. At that point, I'll go through the remaining ones and add the ones that are actually not sound effects or noises.

There is no way the tagging is gonna get anywhere if no one's gonna rip EVERY variation of music that plays. A lot of songs in this rip have the multichannel Flac files playing at the same time creating a song that is a mixture of different versions of songs heard in the game. The Bazaar theme is also still missing for instance. The way the music is on the game disc is the same way Mario Kart Wii's has it's music on the game disc. Maybe someone knows anyone who has ripped that game (with all the different variations playing)?

Alright, I finally finished some of the other gamerips I was doing, so I'm going to try to re-rip this. I started by splitting the multichannel files into separate files for each channel - I'll later rejoin them so it sounds better. When I'm done I'll use the data from the spreadsheet and my own naming skills to name, order and tag the tracks. :)

@Tango I finished a little tracklist of my own recently in chronological order with all the important stuff tagged and without most of the ambient synth tracks and stingers. Perhaps this would help you for your album. That is if you are not already done.

Sir, that would be AMAZING! Is there also a way to upload the seperate files for each channel? 'Cause I don't really get what you mean by 'later rejoin them'? @Tango I finished a little tracklist of my own recently in chronological order with all the important stuff tagged and without most of the ambient synth tracks and stingers. Perhaps this would help you for your album. That is if you are not already done.

Thanks mate :)

At this point, I'll just be happy if I can title things in vaguely coherent English...

I have some behind-the-scenes assistant from somebody who is considerably better versed in Zelda than I am, and who is actually playing Skyward Sword... so between what we already have and his expertise I'm sure we'll come up with something a bit better than "terrible occurring."

I am continuing the renaming here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqOuKITv-NLidGZpdjB5UTJWc2FuRkNEQlNULTFRNVE

If anyone wants to help me out, great. If not, I'll just use this for personal use. Everyone can edit it.

Not to stray too far from the topic... but can anyone suggest a program that could take a spreadsheet like this (probably in CSV format) and batch apply tag information from said file to the original music files? I am currently using a program called Mp3tag, but the problem is that the alphanumeric ordering done by the application doesn't match the ordering done by Google Docs, which makes batch tagging tricky.

What I'd prefer is a program that matches the file's name with a field in the spreadsheet. Any suggestions?

You can probably script something using python and the mutagen package, which can read (and write) almost all tagging types.

Just use the concatenate function in excel and credit add'l columns to set delimiters between the fields like " - " and copy and paste the results to a text file. Then use mp3tag's text file command ->tag. Remember, for this function, mp3tags orders the tags based on the order found in the text file. Hope this helps.

Nice to see progress is being made on making a proper release out of this - it's a shame Nintendo doesn't realize people want to buy the soundtracks for their games so people have to rip and mix it all themselves.

For those who are trying to make tracks containing the various variations of each song in sequence, make sure you get the volume and instruments right. What I've heard uploaded on Youtube so far has been horrible work, like the Lanayru Past themes playing with way too low volume on the past-exclusive instruments, and the harp songs playing with NO FRIGGIN HARP.

Hey Bar, two questions:
1. How did you rip the .rwavs? I can't seem to get this to work.
2. How are you making separate files from the separate channel data?

Also...

@logan28469: Here's an answer to your questions:
1. VGMStream reads rwav files perfectly, just like all the other files.
2. To make separate files from the channel data, I:
- Converted the files to wav with vgmstream
- Split the channels with the channel split codec for dBpoweramp
- rejoined every pair of channels by hand with Audacity's "Make Stereo Track" function (I'm doing this now)
To get the real variations, I'll have to mix them too, though...

Hi,

am just just too "stupid" or where are the 2 sounds from opening "normal chest / treasure)" and big chest / treasure)"? *g*

and there are too seperate songs from the minigame in the Pumpkin bar:

0D22F5D87B7F70B2E2EBAC1462769F43 - acustics
and
2D109AA4EBECD2406C8B4193F91826B9 - voice

ist there ANYONE who can "rearrange / merge" these two sonds to have the "version" from the game? it is just perfect, and my sister loves it, but I am too bad in "music" to merge them "perfectly"

I hope someone can help me out

Thanks a lot for this, Bar. I very much look forward to your tagged and upgraded rip, and for now the rip you made will suffice perfectly. I don't have opportunity to play the game before 15 December because of exams, so I like not to get any spoilers in the track naming.

One question: Is the sampling rate of 32 kHz as it was in the game files, or have you chosen this manually? The sampling rate from the Prime Blue Twilight Princess rip was 44.1 kHz, and that made me curious.

Good news Zelda music fans! I have all the variations in separate tracks now. I'm going to look for the fanfares now (they're in the RWAVs), I already have some. Some of the variations still need to be mixed with the other ones though, but I think I'll leave that for my third revision of the rip as I don't know the exact volumes of every variation (maybe you guys will be able to help! :D).
There's also bad news: I've found out the format of the sequenced music (RSEQ+RBNK) and at the moment it can't be ripped. It can always be recorded in Dolphin though, so if anyone wants to, that'd be nice.
@buffydamion: Most of the fanfares aren't in this rip yet. I already have some now and it shouldn't take long till I post my new rip here :)
@slippyToad: It'd be wonderful if you could help with the sequenced music, thanks! :)
@Kojigrove: It was 32kHz in the game's files. Zelda TP had a completely different music format (all sequenced) so it's quite possible they were 44.1kHz, although I doubt they were. Prime Blue's rip was recorded so it's quite possible that he saved the files in a frequency that was higher than the music really was.

So here is my custom score for Skyward Sword. It's 84 tracks with all the important stuff: The orchestral score and some synth tracks for cutscenes and important events. Aside from the normal battle tracks, some variations of Skyloft and Lake Floria (Ancient Cistern entrance) and the usual Zelda trademark fanfares I felt nothing was missing. Everything is in chronological order as the music appears in the game and proberly tagged. I did not include all the ambient tracks and stingers. Keep in mind this is primarly for Tango in his quest of presenting the music of Skyward Sword in the best possible way but I hope others can also enjoy this version (I believe 254 tracks is far too much music to enjoy in one sitting and 2 hours of good music from the game is still better than 8 hours of synth ambience).

"BGM_BATTLE_TUTTI"
"BGM_BATTLE2"
"BGM_HP_MELODY" (item get fanfares)

Cool. Thanks for the list! slippyToad may be able to rip the sequenced ones, or I could try Dolphin. Wouldn't line-in from the Wii work? Also, it might be easier if you translate/describe what the following songs are:
"BGM_BATTLE_ROOM"
"BGM_BATTLE_TUTTI"
"BGM_BATTLE2"
"BGM_HP_PUMPKIN"
"BGM_LORRY"
Should I just use Audacity to combine all the variations of the market theme into one very long continuous file?
And are any of these sequenced songs multichannel?
This is coming VERY well! I'm more excited for this rip than I was for the game, and I'm a HUGE Zelda fan, so that's really saying something!

If anyone finds any other sequenced tracks that don't end up in the rip, tell me and I'll look for them.

Line-in from the Wii would definitely work, although it's maybe better done with Dolphin, like Prime Blue's rip. He somehow got his hands on a cheat that disabled all SFX which allowed him to record the tracks as they were played.

I don't really know what those tracks are, that's why I can only use their in-game filenames. BATTLE speaks for itself, then there's something to do with pumpkins, and then there's something that's got to do with a lorry. That's all I know. Oh, and the sequenced songs aren't multichannel.

For the variations, I just made a separate track for each variation for now (much easier to do), but I may redo it later so it's one long track with each variation in it.

By the way, thanks for the help everyone! I'll credit all of you for the next rip. :)

Where are Din's Power and Farore's Courage? Also, why is Nayru's Wisdom labeled as "The Sacred Flames"? I thought your selection was quite good, but those 3 songs are a pretty huge part of the game.

Really? I thought he used Wii line-in. I'll see if there's a similar format in the codes and possibly make my own AR code for this.

I don't really know what those tracks are, that's why I can only use their in-game filenames. BATTLE speaks for itself, then there's something to do with pumpkins, and then there's something that's got to do with a lorry. That's all I know. Oh, and the sequenced songs aren't multichannel.
OK, I'll try and find out. I don't know where you got those in-game names from, but that's cool. You know, if the sfx are mostly in the surround or center channels, I may be able to cancel them out. Can I do everything with these sequenced files in Audacity, or do you think I'll need something else as well?

For the variations, I just made a separate track for each variation for now (much easier to do), but I may redo it later so it's one long track with each variation in it.
Well then, for now I'll see if I can do what you did so that there is a consistency throughout the rip.

By the way, thanks for the help everyone! I'll credit all of you for the next rip. :)Don't credit me right away, though, as I'm not entirely sure I can run Dolphin at full speed yet. I think I'll know by the end of the day, though.

If anyone can figure out where those sequenced tracks play, please tell me.
Oh, and I recommend everyone give Bar's posting of the ip some reputation points.

EDIT: My computer can NOT run Dolphin. It says 5%, but it takes 10 minutes for even the first few frames to show up. I can try my desktop computer, but it may not work.
EDIT: Dolphin ain't working on this PC, either, but not due to my hardware. My graphics card could run it just fine at 100%, but Dolphin says I need the direct3d 11 backend, and DirectX 11 does not exist for XP MCE 2008. I actually would need some way of connecting real wii remotes to my computer, but I need a bluetooth device for that (I want one but don't know where or what to look

Are you sure ? I played the game once and I would say it's fairly accurate. I only took some liberties here and there for a better listening experience but nothing major. However I was not 100% sure this would please everyone (For everyone else there is always Bar's fantastic rip) but the game is very long and remembering where every track played is quite a challenge. Keep in mind the game recycles many tracks and has some variations of themes that felt flat compared to the original: Tentalus Battle is Scaldera, The Seal is broken is also Levias appears, Tentalus (First and Second Phase) is also used during the Levias Fight, Sacred Temple is basically a lesser version of Temple of Hylia, edited versions of Reunion and Returning home are played earlier in the game and Groose's and Fi's Theme are all over the place.

I do have to thank you kinerfan, but beiong the completionist that I am, I'll favor Bar's rip.
By the way, Bar, making each variation be a separate song is a good idea, as each variation may have its own intro (and possibly, its own outtro). I can always combine them into a single file, later(if found to be necessary, I think someone should rip those sequenced songs with Dolphin, though, because if I try to do a line-in recording, the volume may be too low. And trust me, you can't raise the volume at all when this happens (not even through replay gain), as it causes severe clipping in the audio. I'll see what I can do though. I hope the shrine works for the next few days (notice how it's been going down , likely due to maintenance, and being brought back up many times a day), because I want this rip to be made and posted successfully, but am really starting to worry about the shrine. I mean, it's having so many problems at once!
I'll be hard at work trying many different techniques at ripping the songs I'm trying to rip, but will also be checking back here often. If someone rips them before me, that's a good thing, as the result I produce probably won't be anything special.

Oh, remember, change your passwords!

I can name the tracks. Bar is already doing so much, it's truly amazing. That, and I really want to do something for this rip. I'm going to wait until the rip is posted, first, then I'm going to name the tracks. I won't name them in the way a composer would name them for a soundtrack, but rather, give the tracks the type of names you would normally see in a gamerip. In other words, it will be obvious which song is which, as Eldin Volcano's song will simply be named "Eldin Volcano" instead of anythingconfusing or different like I've seen in the other rips of this game(which are all missing over half the music in the game).

Yeah, I wouldn't have bothered with the naming project without mp3tag. I've been using it for several years and it has yet to let me down.

mp3tag +spreadsheet = easy :)

I agree, mp3tag is amazing!

@klnerfan

Sorry but that there rip needs a lot more work. For one, the quality is too low(variable 128-256 or something), and it hardly contains any variations within the same track.

Most importantly it's missing a crapload of songs, like literally EVERY dungeon theme except Skyview Temple. If that's what you mean by "ambient" music you'd be mistaken, because some of the dungeon themes are among the best tracks, like Lanayru Mining Facility's past version.

By the way, one song I haven't seen anywhere is the fire-themed miniboss theme. It's first played against the Lizalfos in the Earth Temple I believe. Is that sequenced?

You seem to forget that klnerfan did not say he was going to give a complete rip. This is just a rip with all of the orchestral themes in it. As for quality, he had probably taken it from the other rip that's around which has the files named to make it easier for him.

Also, he said this is just something to help Tango out with his arrangement. So, this is by no means a "final" release of the sort. The only reason he had posted it was probably because he was asked to by the community.

Thank you!You mean from mp3 tags->excel?

Use mp3tag's export function and create a new configuration or copy/paste an existing one and name it to whatever you want. Then edit the export configuration look like this with the desired fields separated by whatever character you want to use as a delimiter character in excel, here it's "*":

$filename(txt,utf-8)$loop(%_path%)%track%*%artist%*%title%*%length%* %ETC, etc....%
$loopend()

Save the new config, highlight the songs whose tags you want to export and select the export configuration you just created. It will spit out a text file. Copy/paste contents of the text to excel.

Now, in excel, highlight the column and use Data>Text to Columns command. Select the delimited option and select "other." Place * in the other field and leave the "treat consecutive delimiters as one" UNCHECKED. Hit finish and you're done.

Don't use Google translate or Yahoo anymore. They do not work at all(they're very bad). From now on, use Bing Translator, which is perfect.

Now I shall want to import these names to reappoint the musics.
Because I am not quite going to copy out the names of tracks on every music?

My track#'s reflect mp3tag's inconsistent sorting of the hexcodes. Just order your files in mp3tag via hexcode, order the spreadsheet under my track#'s, copy the column with titles and paste them in a new text file. In mp3tag, highlight all the songs ordered by hexcode, use the "text file->tag" command, point to the text you created and the format string field should be %title%. That's it.

I agree, those were some rude posts. Still, most of this page is off-topic. I would answer it ifI understood the question, which is the only reason I suggested re-translating the question using Bing Translator. I meant absolutely NO harm. I have never trolled and never will.

Back on-topic:
As for the sequenced tracks, I'm still looking for the ones that have yet to be identified. The final copies of the files I provide (if I can get these ripped properly without problems, which is seemingly unlikely) will be in lossless.
Hey Bar, since the main problem I'm having is due to software deficiencies, do you know of any linux version of Dolphin? (or if it runs properly through Wine, as well as how I'd go about setting up drivers if necessary) I have Backtrack 5 r1 (Ubuntu) and Mint Debian.
I just want to check beforehand, as it is may take a while to set everything up for that, but it'll be well worth it if it works. If a LiveCD of Win7 exists, I'd have absolutely no hesitation on using that.

Here's my contributions...

This took me well over 7 hours in total... lol

In chronological order (I suppose, with the exception of the optional stuff), some are missing, some I left out. Feel free to add those that are missed. Does anybody want the mp3s I tagged in Windows Media Player? (Don't know if that program actually writes the tags)

Oh, and spoilers ahead!

Thanx ruzlix, I updated my spreadsheet with your changes to match the 255 tracklist from Bar's initial rip. Hope this helps someone.

Part 1 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/ai9bq0)
Part 2 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/mkf3kz)

So I noticed that I missed a few, that I thought were missing but I missed them cause the album tag had disappeared. But I put them in the folder. Some I renamed the file name of.

People seem to be calling Meeting Zelda at the Statue and Won the Race! "Romance Theme", but I don't know. :)

That's because that song is one of the variations of the song that originally was introduced to the world in the officially-titled "Romance Trailer". The other name sounds more descriptive though. I really like that song.
I'm going to play Skyward Sword now.

Hey Ruzlix, you may want to reupload those rar's again. Alot of the files come up as corrupt - I'd suggest Megaupload or Rapidshare.

EDIT: Okay, these are the corrupt files for me:

1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 27, 29, 32, 36, 39, 59, 65, 67, 68, 70, 71, 77, 85, 86, 88, 90, 92, 96, 108, 116, 145, 153, 157, 161,

So, yeah, you will be better off just reuploading them to a different site.

Thank you so much, ssri! I guess now is as good a time as any to dump these into my Google Music account. (I really wish there was an easier way to batch tag my already uploaded collection...)

By the way, why not just host your spreadsheet on Google Docs (or some similar service) so you can maintain the same download URL and make changes as you go?

Everyone: I'll upload what I have so far this evening, in mp3 format (it's a lot, over 800MB - can't upload that much right now)
There might still be one or two duplicate tracks, and some of the variations need to be mixed with each other.
Since I haven't played the game yet, I figured you might be able to help me by saying which ones need to be mixed and which ones are fine.
I didn't name anything yet as some variations might need different names than the ones already in the spreadsheet (which is a great help, by the way - thanks for that!).
So, will anyone take a look at the variations when I upload them to see which ones need to be mixed? :)

SnakeSnoke, I won't upload the FLAC version yet as the rip is not complete and I don't want to waste 2,4GB of bandwidth (there's a limit on how much I upload per month) on an incomplete rip. As soon as I have all the variations correctly and everything is named, I will upload the new FLAC rip. For now, you can download the old FLAC and the original files in the first post.

The new version has all versions of the Sky and the Imprisoned alongside the cutscene music without SFX. I guess that makes my attempt at an orchestral collection for arrangement already worthless but at least we have now almost the whole score.

Vinphonic
11-29-2011, 12:32 AM
Oh belive me writing ambient music is relativly easy. Also keep in mind that almost everything loops and is usually twice as long. I believe no one alive today can write a 10 hour epic. It's usually a team of composers and most of the ambient tunes can be created with sample libraries. The meat of the score is only about 2 - 3 hours.

Something I noticed: The Sky is similar to the Overworld from Zelda 2 and Demise Theme is basically the Rain Scene from A Link to the Past. The only downside to the score is the theme of the Triforce. Instead of Fairy's Fountain it should have been the Triforce Chamber from A Link to the Past or the Song of Time. But the synth tracks at the end are slowly growing on me when I realized how close they feel to ALTTP. Considering the countless references and similarities to older Zelda games I think this is no coincidence.

This rip seems more complete than the last, but is still incomplete :3 We still seem to be missing the open chest theme, the Item get theme, all the Bazaar themes, all variations of the battle theme, and the second mid boss battle theme *the one that first plays when fighting the lizards in the Earth temple*

@HikariAngel: I already said multiple times before that those songs are sequenced, which means nobody can rip them yet. You can record them while playing the game though, but I haven't played the game yet (I've barely started).
@AVGanondorf: All in the new rip. (if they aren't, they're sequenced)
@Takfloyd: Yep, the harp songs are sequenced as well. I found the harp notes sounds in the game but that's not really useful, is it?
@HikariAngel: I can't listen to the tracks right now (I'm in class) but the way they are in the new rip is how they are stored in the game's files. That means you can't get it without sound effects by ripping, nor by recording (obviously).

Well, I've got one that is 168 tracks wide, 6 hours long, that is a combination of klnerfan's and Ruzlix's works. I could see about uploading that - I mean, despite the fact that it is 4 hours shorter than Bar's works, I am safe in saying that it has pretty much everything you need.

IMPORTANT!
@Bar. In 0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F, doesn't each variation have the music from the main version of the song in it, with the instruments fro the other variations just added on top? I think this is the case, and not just for this song, but all of them.
Take 2FAC6CAAB0DD2E75606888E65F9BBAF2 for example. You split it in two variations: The main song, and the drum-only version. What you need to do instead is make the two variations be: The song without the drums, and the song with the drums. Otherwise, the best versions of the songs will not be listenable. Also note that there is a version of the Skyloft theme that is made up of both of your variatons, and that all songs could easily be ffixed so long as you keep the main music in each track, as opposed to deleting it. You know, the flying theme and the drums are not two different songs,. There is one version that has drums and one that doesn't, so please, fix this in all songs. It should be fairly easy. It'd be nice to listen to Ghirahim's theme with the castanets, rather than having to listen to just the song, or just the castanets.

One way to do what I said in my last post would be to drag the files into Audacity then export them as a single wav. I'm not 100% sure if this works, but it would only take like four clicks. You'd have to convert 'em to FLAC, though.
Oh and for the first file I mentioned(which is the sub-boss theme), there should be one variation that includes all instruments as well. Great job ripping those instruments!

Someone hurry up and make me happy so I can "spead reputation around" and be able to give Bar rep again!

So far, Bar has taken place among my Favorite Rippers List, currently ranking second out of thirty.
EDIT: I now know for sure that Audacity will mix down the tracks to two stereo tracks, but in past experiences, especially the one, Prime Blue, Whiz-zarD, and kinerfan, we found that mix-downs sometimes cause a SEVERE loss in quality. We learned that in the recordings of Symphonic Legends - Music From Nintendo, the 5.1 stream that was ripped in 2.0 was 192kbps, but sounded much lower quality(buzzing, especially in surround speakers) than the 2.0 stream recorded in 2.0 at 128kbps. Although, that could've been caused by just improper ripping procedures, as opposed to mixing-down There must be some way to overlay the instrument tracks on top of the main songs using the same two channels. Luckily, the instrument tracks are EXACTLY the same length as their according main songs. It might work because all the files are now stereo.
Whatever yo do, use the new stereo files instead of the track-merging older ones, as that will make the files lossy and buzzy.
I haven't played through the whole game yet(I'm a professional when it comes to making a Zelda playthrugh last long.), but you dont seem to be misssing anything. I checked the ISO I just downloaded and you got all of the music. There may be a couple of songs in the demo that aren't in here, but those probably don't have any variations. All you'd need to do is merge the files properly. I can always just upload the sequenced tracks in FLAC 8 later on (if 8 is what you use for the compression setting). Also, if anyone else can rip the sequenced tracks with Dolphin PLEASE do, because when I go to do it, even though the sequenced tracks are stereo, they come out really bad due to the same mixing down problem I spoke of earlier on in this post.

In other news, looking at Prime Blue's posts on various forums, I conclude that around June, he has disappeared off the face of the Earth. Hopefully nothing bad happened.

Yeah, that won't work too well with this game. Setting the Wii to stereo first doesn't seem to fix the problem, either. Using Dolphin is the only way to go.

Oh and Bar, about what I said in my last two posts, if you think my procedure will work, but don't want to do it yourself, you could just upload what you have and I could do it myself using the FLACs(if Audacity can import FLACs. GoldWave might work, too).

@logan28469: I know a lot of variations still need to be mixed, but I don't know which need to be mixed with which. Take 2D9A5A5C616A950699C3DC73A7FB7240 for example, the variation sounds perfectly fine without the main track. For 2EF6EAC7A9EB2FC2E7874C715A8BAAFA, there might be a part where the main melody drops and only the second or the third variation plays (for example). For tracks like 0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F (the one you mentioned) the variations obviously need to be mixed, but there are three. Do all the variations need to play at the same time or not? You see, it's a lot more complicated than you might think.
I think I'm just going to try to figure out how the data needed to play those files correctly is stored in the game. Which might take some time.

@Bar

In addition to the trouble of figuring out which variations go on top of eachother, there's also the fact that some of the variations seem to have the wrong volume. You have the game right? If you just pay attention to the music as you play, you can probably tell for yourself how it goes, at least for the area music like in Lanayru Desert and The Sky. The boss music is trickier, because there's several variations depending on how the battle is going. Also, the tracks named WZSound_00000000 and WZSound_00007FFD are blended into a couple of the boss fights(Definitely Scaldera and Tentalus, might be others) when Link is on the offensive, like in Twilight Princess.

Wow, I am downloading Skyward Sword Soundtracks, and so far, I found some that I needed. Only 12 songs to go, and I have the COMPLETE soundtrack to the game. Every variation, too. So if anyone could please tell me where I can find these songs, it would be greatly appreciated!

Skyloft Variation 2 (No Accordion)
Bazaar - Normal
Bazaar - Restaurant
Bazaar - Fortune Teller
Bazaar - Potion Seller
Bazaar - Store Lady
Bazaar - Scrap Shop
Bazaar - Happy Seller
Lizard Fight (Earth Temple Mini-Boss)
The Imprisoned 1st Boss Battle Theme (Without the Groose Theme in it)
Lake Floria Theme - Underwater
Lanayru Sand Sea Cart Ride Theme

Thank you!

@Bar Oh, I understand now. I'll try and make a list of variations I can confirm as I play. Also note what's said post #228.
There is for sure one version of the Skyloft theme that is both of your current variations mixed togethter. There is also the 0D-something(one I mentioned) which does have the normal version, a version for each instrument, and a version with both instruments.

Thank you very much for this. Now to wait until either an official OST (unlikely) or a super-high quality rip with everything tidied up nicely comes from this. I wish I could help.

I wish I could help.
I've been hearing this a lot lately. All you have to do to help is own the game and post here which variations exist for each song in the game. That way, Bar can mix it properly. I'm going to do just that with the songs that I am 100% sure on only. @Bar: Look forward to a more extensive list from me this week, and make sure to check my posts as of this one, as I'll be editing them with more as opposed to making new posts each time. NOTE: I'll be posting track names or descriptions in bold red from now on, and whenever we come to a song that has have the normal version without instrument tracks, a separate version for each instrument, and a version with all instruments(like the 0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F we talked about), I will call that a full combo. If you include the normal version, that song has 4 variations, so this is how I'm going to write it:
0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F (full combo) 4 vars.
Now I start listing what I know: (Hopefully, this mp3 archive has ALL of the songs and instrument tracks and variations, right? Because if not, I'll probably miss a lot, as I am going to look at each song and navigate it in the game.)
0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F (full combo) 4 vars.

@AVGanondorf

I believe most if not all of those are in Bar's newest rip.

We still don't have any of the harp songs with the actual harp playing, right? I assume the harp is sequenced, but maybe those can be recorded from the game directly?

I just downloaded Bar's Soundtrack, and I still can't find the 2nd Variation of Skyloft. Nor the first battle with The Imprisoned... can someone tell me the names of the songs? Please?

Thanks a lot logan28469! A list like that will help me a lot, and with it I might be able to get a correct and tagged rip finished before the end of next week. :)
I can't read any more info from the game's files so the only way to go is really that list. I'll also try my best to get the sequenced tracks before I put that online. ;)
@AVGanondorf: I don't know about the Imprisoned as I haven't played the game much yet, but I think Skyloft is F2E8D789E703D3719C3FDBDCFB5BAA37 and F2E8D789E703D3719C3FDBDCFB5BAA37_2 ;)

@Bar:
People need to read earlier posts, otherwise they're going to just keep asking about the sequenced tracks. I can't seem to figure out how to get a non-sfx version of the Bazaar theme ripped yet. But maybe there is something like Fraps or 3D Ripper DX(often used to automatically rip graphics and possibly audio from games running on the PC and using Direct3D) that could rip the audio as wav, which would allow the sfx to be in separate files. Yeah, I'm going to start listing on this post. Note that I will likely not mention any songs twice from here on out, so check all of my posts. Did you see the highly important post by Takfloyd nine posts up? I may(and probably will) miss those. Also, in the case of Skyloft(first in this list), since there is a version that is made from mixing both versions of the sogs, which are full songs as opposed to instrument racks, I will say (full mix) for songs like that. You can probably see if a track has a "full mix" by converting the old FLAC in foobar200 to MP3 or M4A
0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F (full combo) 4 vars.

2EF6EAC7A9EB2FC2E7874C715A8BAAFA (full combo) 4 vars.
2FAC6CAAB0DD2E75606888E65F9BBAF2 2 vars.
43B0749044A1FBEC4FDD79628260F468 (full combo) 4 vars.
B51014C9B60F5F7A85903B46BCFAFDBC 2 vars.
B169A34947835FA1B56A463CFD4CF060 (full combo) 4 vars.
E0B9789E355788D90AA8C21BC0269E0F 2 vars.
EEAE03E86C37A3EC154FA52B84474106 (full mix) 3 vars.
F2815ADBDE30C00084B10966B9DCEC83 (full combo) 4 vars.
F750507AF4CB3758DECE7CEC185EBD91 (full combo) 4 vars.

You should also include 09 Hurry! from the demo rip of yours, as it is different.
Remember that the first variation is the main, unmixed song.
And don't change the kHz!

Finally! Just the Bazaar songs and the Lizard Fight Mini-Boss song from the Earth Temple. Does anyone know where to find them?
Maybe that's the "LORRY". Aside from that, the closest thing I know of is Lori, my friend's mom.

How come the lizard fight music is so hard to find? Is it also sequenced? That's one of the tracks I was looking forward to listen more closely to, because it plays so rarely in the game and is a bit hard to make out.
Could you please record this WITH SFX or find it in a video, just so that I know what it sounds like and can be ready to rip it when I hear it?

Did anyone notice whether or not the WZSOUND_00000000 and WZSOUND_00007FFD played in the first Ghirahim battle? I know for sure it did in the leaked demo. I also think I remember it in the ghirahim battle, but am not sure. I have a hard time differentiating between the two, as well. Does anyone know the differences between them? Maybe there are two files because there is an instance in the game where they play simultaneously? Why is and the only word underlined in red?

Does anyone know why 07B5A2222997D394DC7602A61A8F6883 has two tracks to it.... the second track doesn't play in Koloktos battle as far as I know. *Or at least not in the first phase, but the second phase is a different song that's only one track* It's bugging me XD

I know that Moldarach's theme is two tracks because the second track fades aways when he burrows into the sand... but i can't figure out the reasoning behind Koloktos's theme being split into two parts o.O

No, they certainly don't, since Ghirahim doesn't have a "vulnerable" mode. They play against Scaldera and Tentalus when they're vulnerable, and I thought they might play against Bilocyte, but checking Youtube, they don't. So I do believe they're exclusive to those two battles, probably one for each.

Zelda: Skyward Sword - Lizalfos Gameplay | HD - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIU4tPnvFF8) Here's footage of the Lizalfos battle. This music occurs during a number of mini-boss battles in the game, usually any one that isn't a Stalfos. This track really needs to be found, its a pretty major one to be missing.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS!!! You see, when I said that Prime Blue disbled the sound effect, I said that he used Action Replay to disable sound effects. This is what he did, and I've already asked the WiiRd team if they could make a code for this. What I just realized, however, is that I may be able to use a File Replacement Code (or a File Patch Code) and custom(blank sound) .brsars. If ANYONE knows how to make these custom sound files and if the Brawl File Replacement code works with other games, PLEASE let me know!
@FizzBoing: Thank you.
@Guilder: I said I'd be willing to name the tracks. All I have to do is make a file and import command with MP3Tag, then all you'd have to do is install mp3tag and import the file after selecting the files and wait a few seconds for it to batch tag and name.

Blank sound brsars wouldn't work even if you were able to make them - as the sequenced songs are in there too. Is it really impossible to turn sound effects off in the game's settings? Anyway, thanks for the help so far, I'll use your list to combine the tracks correctly. :)

Everyone, also check out !!!!!'s rip, it is really an awesome one.
